Love the pork and beef ribs from Hurricane's Grill, they are the reason to visit the restaurant, besides the exceptional and attentive service. Love the bar, the view, and the ambience too.
Both types of meat came with a chosen side dish (either chips or salad). Beef ribs are meatier but drier than pork. The pork ribs are delicious but didn't have a lot of meat. Wish Hurrican can improve those aspects.
We also had a refreshing rocket salad with olive and parmesan cheese. Side note, the salad we paid for is way fresher and better than the complimentary salad (which came with ribs). I mean, please give us a better salad quality even though it's small.
Overall, pleasant experience. Will come back for a special occasion.
The food here is great, the ribs/steak are delicious, the squid is delicious, the people are coming and going, it seems to be a popular place, but the bad thing is their service needs to be improved.
We came here for ribs and we weren’t disappointed. Huge portion sizes with lots of flavour and spices. Lots of sauce.
Nice dinner. The food was good and the staff was friendly. The place is a bit overpriced but the location and decor make it up. Nice place if you're are looking for something quick
Could you come to hurricanes and not order their ribs? The lamb ribs are usually my go to and I enjoyed it however I didn't remember it being so fatty.. Maybe it was just the cut that day but it was still delicious.
Still my favourite Ribs place in Sydney. The location at darling harbour is always very busy, so it’s recommended to book to avoid a long wait time. The ribs are always juicy and cooked to perfection. Service can be improved, always hard to get servers attention as they are always running around frantically.
Had dinner here on Friday night with my girlfriend. Despite it being really busy the service was great and the food too! My steak was cooked to perfection. Will be back again soon.
We came here based on reviews and wasn’t disappointed. Had dinner here after a hard slog at WSOP Star casino and enjoyed every minute of the view, experience and delicious steaks. Definitely coming back again this week.
Had dinner here on a Saturday night it was super busy but we booked a table in advance and were seated right away. Although it was packed service was efficient and the food came out quickly. The food was so good we had ribs and cheesy garlic bread! Yum. Great job to management and team for being so well run.
I tried pork ribs here 4th times and always awesome! Friendly staff, nice view, extraordinary cocktails! You should visit here at least once if you are traveling in Sydney. Must do bookings.
Amazing ribs + service! What more could you ask for! Such a great spot to have lunch after a day of shopping. We were super hungry and were seated straight away which was great. Asmita was an incredible waitress along with management and the whole team! Well done hurricanes, you haven’t lost your touch.
Delicious steak, fantastic sauce, amazing starter and delectable dessert - that was just the food!! The venue was lovely and service was attentive and quick! Great night out for a very reasonable price point for darling harbour!
Pictured is the Rump Cap Steak (with side salad and spanish sauce), Mac n Cheese Balls and Affogato
Can't get enough of the Louisiana-style chicken wings. The blue cheese dressing is amazing! The steaks were top-notch, the scotch fillet bursting with flavour and cooked to perfection. We finished off with the sticky date pudding. A bit too sweet for my liking with the butterscotch sauce but otherwise, it was a good meal all round. A definite recommend!
It was a nice experience. I tried this restaurant for the first time with my friends from Singapore. The place was quiet full and food was nice and tasty. We tried beef ribs, garlic mushrooms, fries, chai latte, coffee and peach ice tea. Food turned out to be amazing and very nice. But we have to wait long for the food to come just because it was very full.
Definitely we will come again but hope we just don’t have to wait so long for food.
Food 4.5/5
Ambience 4.5/5
Service 3.5/5
Price 3.5/5
I can't go past the pork ribs. They are the bees knees. I highly recommend it to anyone who loves ribs or meat in general. The restaurant itself has a cool atmosphere and is in a good location. It's a great place to take people from out of town
Waiters struggled a bit with English but did their best with service & frequently checked during the meal. Nice wooden interior with clean decor - service was rather prompt. Meats grilled well - sausages, ribs, steaks were delicious. Salad was refreshing and Sweet potato chips fried nicely.
Came to Sydney for a short weekend escape and booked Hurricane’s after having dined here over 10 years ago. Can I say, nothing has changed! The food is still as amazing as ever! There were massive queues which just shows you how many people just love to dine here. We had a seafood platter for two which I love how they have it on two individual plates! Also we had some beef ribs, entree size. I found it bizarre that the waitress asks you how you would like your seafood cooked? I thought there was only one way? Anyhow, maybe they wanted to be sure and make sure their customers received what they wished for. Either way, the food came out amazingly and we even had fireworks to top it off! Loved the food and will be back again for sure!
Sydney destination for pork ribs! Top it up with ceaser salad and you are good to go.
My favourite side dish is their sweet potato fries. Crunchy crunchy crunchy!
**The following review contains mentions of sacullant, tender meat. Vegan discretion is advised**
Ah yes Sydney. The Opera house, the harbour bridge and one hell of a grill called Hurricanes in Darling harbor.
People loosen those belts and wear your oversized clothes, because Hurricans dont do things by half. But more quantity doesn't always mean less quality (just look at Mr S).
We have been here a few times on our visits to Sydney and we just have to say... GET THE RIBS!
Get those long, succulent, juicy, oh-so-tender ribs that just fall off the bone just by whispering sweet nothings in its meaty ear. The marinade will have you licking your fingers, your lips and anywhere else that it may have smudged onto (please note, Mr and Mrs S condone the licking of strangers without their consent).
All ribs are pretty good, but take Mr and Mrs S's word for it, get the pork ribs with sweet potato fries [see pic with Mr S' XL manly hand beside the ribs for comparison (hand may or may not belong to a 6 year old child)].
Before your dino ribs arrive, take a sec to look out and enjoy the view before a waiter places a rib around you. If you are like Mr S, you'll be used to wearing a bib even when you only eat a single peanut. If your not used it, dont reject it unless you want to be a walking canvas that looks to have been drawn by a whimsical year 9 student with their future career listed as "positive energy reinforcer".
All in all we give this grill a lip smacking 4.5/5
Will we be back: every single time we land in Sydney... even if its a 45 minute stopover.
I went here for lunch with my family, good portion sizes, great tasting food. I ordered the classic beef burger with nothing on it except for sauce, meat and bun.
A must visit whenever I am in town. Delicious, juicy ribs. Prefer the pork over the beef one. Staffs are attentive and friendly. Great vibe all all around.
Last night was my first visit to a Hurricane's restaurant. It is an extremely busy time of year with Vivid festival and the restaurant was packed. I know it was busy, but the service was not great to begin with. We were waiting for other guests and so were seated at some stools while we waited. They turned up a few minutes later but it took me at least 5 minutes to flag down a staff member to request we be seated. We were told it would be another 5 minutes as they had to clear a table.
Once we were finally seated we had to wait quite a while to be offered water and drinks. We ordered wine with 5 glasses but only 3 glasses were provided. I requested 2 more and the waitress said she would bring them, but clearly forgot. A gentleman who I assume was the owner ended up bringing us more.
Despite this, the food was delicious and very generous portion sizes. I had the pork knuckle which was really tasty. Would I come back? Probably not, but its a fun restaurant if you're a tourist visiting Sydney and great views of Darling harbour and fireworks.
It was the largest plate next to the whole barramundi, beef cheeks, chicken, salad and scotch fillet mains that donned the table!. The buy in is to share with a minimum of two people, but Hurricane’s have thought of everything, because leaving two meat loving heavy weights to divvy up the grand platter equally will always leave someone feeling a little jibbed. Below, meet the one identical twin of the $55 per person Hurricane’s BBQ Meat Platter.
Revisiting after 7 years and this place is as good as before. The pork ribs are well charred, yet the meat is still juicy and tender. Make sure you call to book for an outdoor non smoking seating.
Had a nice dinner here by the Darling Harbour which was cute.
We ordered a small caesar salad, bbq chicken wings, and a full rack of beef ribs with chips.
The wings were tasty but it was a pretty small portion to be $20 and the rice that it sat on wasn’t pleasant. Tasted like instant, microwaved rice.
Other than that, everything else was delicious and I would come back.
When in Sydney, you have to visit Hurricanes and have their ribs. I took my family here whilst we were visiting Sydney. They are very close to their cantonese tastebuds and wouldn’t be content with any other food because it’s their comfort food as they grew up in Asia. But the ribs sauce of Hurricanes got their tick of approval! It’s so hard to satisfy them but I did it (well, Hurricanes did it)!
Hurricanes is an institution and has a reputation for having the best ribs in Sydney. Almost everyone I know has been to Hurricanes. When was the last time you went? Let me remind you what you're missing out on. I am a massive fan of the ribs at Hurricanes and also at Bare Grill. Matt's always a bit more excited when he gets to eat lots of meat and in particular when he gets to eat pork ribs. Matt and I head to Hurricanes in Darling Harbour. It's a really hot day and I'm thankful for the air conditioning as I walk in. There's a short line as I enter at 12pm and by 12:30pm the restaurant looks almost full.
Good service and good food. Especially for their seafood platter and of course the ribs. And I’ll definitely come back to this place. And we had grilled chicken as well with peri peri sauce. The chicken is good tho..
A must go for meat lovers. Portions massive. Food amazing. A little expensive for well worth it. And the view. Amazing.y favourite has to be the ribs.

Thank you to JoJo and the team @hurricanesgrilldarlingharbour & @spooningaust for the invite! 💕
I’ve always been a huge fan of Hurricanes and this visit did not disappoint! There’s no better place to score a summer feast than sitting on the terrace with that fresh breeze, overlooking beautiful Darling Harbour!
Whilst sipping on a highly refreshing cider my friend and I planned our attack on the menu, as there’s a loooot of choices!
For starters we went with the Mac n cheese balls, a classic, with the right amount of cream and cheese and a delicious crunch from that crispy coating.
Next up calamari, scored and deep fried to perfection, a perfect Harbourside treat.
Pace yourself though, don’t fill up too fast because of course the main event at Hurricanes is all about the meat!
For mains we went all out and split a bone in rib eye steak, medium rare of course. Arghhh this steak is so damn good I wish I could go back and have it right now as a write this while instead I’m eating a sad salad.
Perfectly cooked, basted and served with our choice of both a rich garlic sauce and our fave ever the mushroom sauce. This mushroom sauce changes lives! A sneaky baked potato and a side of sweet potato fries rounds off a delicious meal!
Thanks so much to Spooning Australia and Food Shot Sydney for inviting us to this delicious feast! We’ll be back!
Very well presented restaurant! The waiter n waitress are super nice! That's why everyone gave them such a good review. Always came here for ribs everytime I am in Sydney.
Been a loyal customer for a few years already.
Definitely will keep coming back.
Can't go wrong with a rack of ribs.
Flavours were great, nice and smokey and the meat just falls off the bones.
This restaurant is quite busy usually you book ahead or you might have to wait a bit until you get seated.
In 1994 a hurricane hit Sydney’s famous Bondi Beach; since then it has taken the rest of Sydney by storm and now has expanded overseas in Indonesia and Dubai. This is Hurricane’s Grill at Darling Harbour, one of the four stores in Sydney and a very popular venue for regular locals as well as visiting guests. The floor to ceiling glass windows provide superb views of Darling Harbour and the fireworks most Saturday nights.
The food was amazing, properly prepared and a great value for the price.
Service was very good and servers were kind, friendly.
All in all, a perfect.
My friend and aunt recommended this restaurant to me. And yeah, as what they told me, the pork rib and sweet potato fries were very delicious. Definitely will come back again next time!
I didn’t have the ribs but my dad and brother did and they were huge! Definetly worth the price for their size and taste. The cheesy garlic bread was really nice too and also good value for money. However, the prawn dish I had took 20 minutes to arrive as it had been sent to another table, hence the 4 stars instead of 5.
I ordered combos porks (steaks and ribs), garlic bread and ceaser salad.
Steaks : i dont like it..
Ribs : i liked it.. it is my favourite
Garlic bread : standard
Also ceaser salad
I must make reservation before i want eat in this restaurant
Have been recommended by my friends lots of times and finally got chance to try. Hhh
5/5 Location and ambience.
It’s at second floor of the Harbourside shopping central and the water is just in front of the restaurant. They got a large balcony, so quite roomy dining environment.
3/5 service
They were TOO BUSY!!!!
Really?!?! I have to wait to get the table (40mins) and then wait another 20mins to get someone take our order. Then 20mins for food. And at that time it is 9pm in the evening lol! ((( thanks god we don’t need to wait for paying the bill! That was fast!!)))
Food
The kid part is the ribs and steak hhhh. Too be frank, I don’t think it’s that attractive, hhh, as my grandma I can do a better one (seriously) just a little bit small than their huge ribs!
I absolutely love hurricanes for there pork ribs! I literally can finish a whole rack to myself... such a nice location especially the outside balcony seating for the darling harbour location, but.... do not dare try to wait for a table if you don’t have a booking, it is a ridiculously long waiting time and you will just start drooling at the end of it, possibly run in the kitchen and steal ribs and run out like a crazy person.
Best place for pork ribs. Everything is good. The staff is friendly. Always will come back again for the food even the food is a bit pricy but its worth the money
Best value for money meal you can get! We had a full rack of pork ribs, beef ribs and a porterhouse steak. Meat was tender, flavorful and fell of the bones. All three of us were insanely full, without purchasing any entree or sides; which is actually very hard to achieve around the CBD, these days.
Scallops are fresh. The sweet potato fries are crispy, love it. Steak and ribs are really good in medium well! Though the price is a little bit high, will come back again!
This place is consistent, well priced for what you get and great serving sizes. I never leave hungry from here. Make sure you book though as the wait times can be long if you don't.
I do not normally write reviews for restaurants even though some ask...but this is an exception...have gone here quite a few times over past few years and it never disappoints..the food is great, view is great, but most importantly, the service and staff are amazing...even though its normally always busy, the waitresses always have time to share a smile or quick chat and the manager big guy always ensures me and friends or family are always happy..a simple yet overlooked thing in these bigger "chain restaurants"..vibe much nicer than circular quay..but rack of ribs & tenderloin is always good no matter where! can never get enough sauce... not so cold tonight so outside was awesome as always...thanks guys..will see you again soon
ordered the pork knuckle and it was the best pork knuckle i ever had also tried the smokey ribs and it was boom but still the pork knuckle was the best and ofc need to comeback here in the future!
This place never disappoints. It’s a must every time I go to Sydney. Food is amazing. Ribs, steaks and omg the sweet potato fries! We were lucky this trip to experience the fireworks for vivid. Service, food is always on point.
If you like ribs...then this is heaven.
Seriously do yourself a favour and get down here to stuff yourself with the amazing full rack of ribs. The rest of the menu is amazing as well.
The food is pricey however it’s top quality so you pay for what you get. The portion sizes are definitely big enough and as you can see from my empty plate you can’t get enough!
Would always come here for smokey ribs and chips with its own special sauces. Need to come back here and experience more specialities as I love munching down on the steaks & ribs. The services was really friendly, and can tell with their accent that they are international which is quite extraordinary. Love to meet new people from overseas that are working in our own city, serving us top notch beef, chicken, pork meats marinated in their special sauces.
Beef ribs 4.5
Pork ribs (dry) 3.5
Portugese chicken 4
Fries and sweet potato fries 4
Prawn Villamoura 3.5
Busy at peak hour on Saturday
Worth a visit
Yuuuum. I always get the rib / steak combo, sweet potato fries (it’s low GI apparently) and love their Monkey Gland sauce (sounds gross, but no Monkeys harmed I promise). I love South African BBQ and this place doesn’t disappoint. I come here almost every time I stay in Pyrmont, which is near and often. The Circular Quay site is equally yum. Recommended highly.
the food here is really a big size. The small meat mix plate is enough for 3person. And the view in this place is nice, just near the darling harbor.
