Great food, service & vibe - special shout-out for the breakfast bowl and the charcoal bread
I always have the most delightful time in this space. Jordan is the best host and the food and coffee are perfect,
I had my usual, breakfast at epiphanies, the poached egg, the ricotta and the romesco were simply you guys always deliver beyond my expectations
Fantastic brunching experience had at Suzie Q this morning!! The poached eggs are incredible and have to be among the best I've ever had. The gluten-free flat bread was also really good. Thanks for the great food, brilliant service and good vibe - looking forward to brunching here again soon!
This place was DELICIOUS! Cannot wait to go back! Looking forward to my next bowl of delight!
Simply exceptional. Food, atmosphere, people. My favourite
Incredibly thought out and deliberate in every aspect. 5 stars.
Great place for a coffee and brunch... ;)
Jordan and the team are always so welcoming no matter what time of the day you go, whether it be just as they open or when it's super busy, it's always a friendly atmosphere. Food is great and the coffee is strong, what more can you ask for?!
Best cafe I've been to... Sydney and Melbourne combined.

I adored the Sweet Surrender 🍓🍯🌹. Would have never thought of putting this combination on toast. The flavours balanced beautifully. Perfect for people like me, who enjoy something sweet for brunch 😋
The ambiance here is so lovely, it's cozy, has great music and records available for purchase. The menus also opened up like records and all the dishes were song titles. I appreciate the attention to detail 🤗
Great place, nice staff, excellent atmosphere with good music.
Food is delicious!
One my favourite place in Surry Hills, I came several times and I will be back for sure.
You immerse yourself into a special and cool atmosphere when you're entering Suzie Q. It feels like you're entering someone's house and that someone really loves music and records. You can sit down by the window with a friend, have a coffee while discussing about anything. So cozy.
Most importantly, the food blew my mind every time i have been there. The first time I had their house poke bowl, which is probably the best one I have had in Sydney (see photo). The second time I had Harvest Moon which I absolutely recommend to mushroom lovers. Enjoy!
Slow Cooked Pork Shoulder : 😍 Amazing
Sentimental Journey : 😍 Amazing
Summer Latte : 😍 Amazing
The Cure Juice : 😍 Amazing
Service : 😍 Amazing
What isn’t there to love? The food, the drinks, the coffee, the service, the atmosphere and literally everything else in between was perfect. The Pork Shoulder Burger was found on the specials board and sold out very quickly! Sentimental Journey was something like a cheese platter but had its own unique twist. The coffee cannot be ignored here !! It was strong and bold. Easily the best coffee I’ve ever had.
I have to start by saying that ambience isn’t always something that bothers me too much, but it was definitely the first thing I noticed walking in. It is so relaxed and easy, it made the experience perrfect, along with the friendly and attentive service of course👌🏼. The organic food served here is unique and delicious. The pulled pork special, which hopefully comes back often, is a must have🤤
The sentimental journey was an interesting dish (reminded me of a cheeseboard!) and wasn’t what I expected receive. It was tasty, but I do recommend other things on the menu before this.
THE COFFEE BLEW MY MIND😵☕️ !! It is one of the best I’ve ever tasted with such a strong flavour, it is a must!!
Fresh little cafe in Surry with fresh sustainable produce. Service was friendly and helpful with taking orders. Food was fresh and delicious! Our table ordered the slow cooked lamb burger, Ocean trout Rye Sandwich and the Tartine. All was delicious, would definitely go back for breakfast/brunch.
Fresh seasonal produce which is tasty and beautifully presented, strong coffee, funky vibe, excellent service, great location (just off Albion St in Surry Hills), several gf options - see pic for their take on Bircher. I can’t fault the place. 5/5. Bravo!
Tasty and creative dishes, great music, eclectic and not pretentious design, good pricing, attentive and friendly service. Suzie Q has everything you wish for a perfect brunch with cliques 💕 A lot of yummy selections of vegan menus and non alcoholic drinks, too!! (this was great since I was on meat & alcohol fasting during the week)
This place has THE BEST breaky and lunch food you will find (probably dinner too, but I haven't had yet).
I don't know what the foodie version of a groupie is, but Suzie Q has got heaps - me included, for good reason.
Coffee has always been flavoursome and strong but the food is where its at. So damn tasty. The breaky eggs are always poached perfect and together with the mushrooms or salmon it's next level. Daily sandwiches are awesome and the soups are brilliant in winter.
I think I've had pretty much everything on the menu, and it's all amazing.
Small yet worthwhile place to have a brekkie on a Sunday morning. The food here are not only presented well, but have a great taste that will cheer up your morning. They always change their menu according to the seasons.
Finally got the chance to visit this tucked away cafe. I like the idea of it being a record store as well, but not pretentious. It's quite a casual relaxed vibe. I only tried a coffee, which I thought was superb, but would love to come back to try the sourdough toast with tahini and other goodies!
Suzie Q is the epitome of cool. The menus are found in refashioned record sleeves. The menu, new since I was here ages ago, feels modern and interesting. It's chockful of hipsters but in a relaxed way. And I really think the menu is interesting and tasty, like this breakfast bowl with various grains and herbs (healthy!), and yet so tasty it feels decadent. I'll be back to try to a proper blog post sometime!
What a random but lovely location. I don’t think I would have ever come across it if not out looking for it. Parking was very easy, just out front, but we were probably lucky as it was still relatively early.
Really loved the vibe of the café, and staff were friendly.
They had a special of poached eggs with braised eggplant, and if this is available when you go, you must try! The eggplant was sooo delicious and I’m not even that big of a fan of eggplant. It just tasted so “meaty” and was not heavy for a breakfast dish.
I felt like I was taking way too long to decide so in a rush went with ‘everything in its right place’ which is pretty much poached eggs on sourdough with a tomato chutney for $11 and you can add either ocean trout or sausage for $8.50. I asked if the eggs were able to be replaced with avocado (and in hindsight realise how silly this was considering I just picked a dish with a main ingredient I wanted to swap over), and looking back on it now I realise it was essentially $11 for avo and toast, as there was no chutney included. It was nice, but I didn’t find the ocean trout as outstanding as I thought I would. Also, pricing was very steep for this small dish.
Overall, it is a nice café, worth checking out. But portions are quite small, so you may still be hungry. Also, it would be great if there was a bit more variety. However, quality of food is very high so dishes are tasty.
Photo does not do this place justice. We went late arvo on Saturday and the place was quiet and chilled.
Lunch was mind blowingly delicious. We also shared a good bottle of rose.
Cool vibe and super relaxed.
Cannot wait to try the breakfast menu!!
Sick vibes, great people, food and coffee to die for! I'm from Melbourne and usually visit Sydney once a year but, no matter how short a time I am there for, this place is always on my list! I would consider moving to Slurry Hills, all the way from melbs, just to be near this place 😂
This place is a bit of a hidden local gem in the back streets of Surry Hills. Cosy spot for a coffee hit or bite to eat. Tempting freshly baked Apple, Thyme & Ricotta Muffins ($4.50) caught my eye on the counter. Glad I got one with a nice crust on the outside and moist and tasty inside. My Cappuccino ($3.80) was also good with quite rich flavours just the way I like it. They're using Dukes Coffee Roasters. A satisfying breakfast on the go sorted.
Located in a really quiet alley in Surry Hills, Susie Q is a great cafe that never disappoint. I've been in this place already three times and the experience was always great. The customer service is quite impressive and even if like often happens in the weekend, the place is packed the waiting is never too long. The menu is seasonal and quite diversified, dishes taste great and are superbly presented. Thumb up for the coffee, I really enjoyed the the filtered one. One of the best cafe in Surry Hills, highly recommended.
Great brunch spot. Friendly service and a variety of classic breakfast dishes along with fresh new ones. The breakfast board was light, fresh and exactly what I wanted. They do a mean cup of coffee too.

Located on Hutchinson St, a small quiet road just on the outskirt of the so-called 'brunch town", Surry Hills, Suzie Q is small quirky cafe that screams seasonal produce and healthy dishes. They sell records here, the menu comes in a record cover, and the name of the dishes have a musical-theme into it, so I think quirky is appropriate.
I had the "Changing tide" poached chicken with salad which was delicious. Although the mayo is tangy and light, they put a little bit too much which makes it quite rich. The fresh salad does cut the richness of the dish.
I also tried the bread and butter with avocado. It is such a simple dish but packed with flavour. The only downfall in my opinion is the toast which is a bit overdone.
Lovely fresh breakfast with generous servings. Tucked away in a cosy alley at the back of surry hills. Sometime they have a Dj playing tunes.
Susie Q's has been booming as a breakfast/lunch spot since it opened and 4 weeks ago they decided to open for dinner as a trial over summer.
My thoughts;
Slow cooked theme - tick
Carefully selected top notch wines - tick
Live vinyl remix DJ - oh you bet this gets a tick
Candle light dinner in a casual, open windowed setting - double tick
The food here really is worth the bucks. We had tender pulled beef sliders with a gorgeous Picle slaw, slow cooked Osso bucco with insanely smooth mash (classic), and shared a panacotta that was so perfectly textured and creamy (complemented with slow cooked nectarines and fresh currants) it was hard to stop eating.
Being such a small eatery the staff are super friendly - it's almost like coming into someone's house for a feed and you leave feeling well and truly taken care of.
One of my new favourite cafe joints. Chilled vibes, great records but most importantly; tasty food! Breakfast At Epiphanies was a favourite and their coffee is just great for your early mornings.
House-made juices are pricey for the quantity you get but very very refreshing nonetheless. Will definitely be back.
Really, really good coffee and great smashed avocado on sourdough with dukkah! Service was a bit poor, but the food was wonderful. Would go again.
Found this place during my Sydney trip this year. Definitely loved the BREAKFAST AT EPIPHANIE'S. The toast was absolutely crunchy. Love the flavour of other elements on the plate. As 'THE CURE', ginger wouldn't be spicy to your tongue, the whole drink was healthy and it just kept me drinking.
Love the decor at this place! Great food as well. I had the Breakfast at Epiphanies breakfast tray, which is a yummy assortment of breakfast items. Can't wait to go back and try one of their more creative dishes!
Suzie Q's has been on my list for so long! I've never quite known the feel of the place, is it vege, is it a record shop, is it just sah Surry Hills.
I finally went along, and the feel of the place is very cool, It's always nice to be greeted and seated, the menus are served in old record sleeves. Seems a little sad to chop them up though.
We settled in and ordered the Smashed avocado on toast with Dukkah. Oh my, it was delicious! Drizzled with a little bit of Lemon juice really brought all the flavors of the dukkah, but didn't over power the avo.
A classic breaky with a twist, I'm very excited to go back and try other things on therir menu.
I’d wanted to try this place for a while now but I could never quite pick where it was. Tucked away in a little corner off Flinders Street, is this tiny coffee shop and record store called Suzie Q. I was immediately drawn in with the smooth tunes chosen by the staff on a quiet Wednesday afternoon, and of course the photos crowding my Instagram of the cafe’s delicious food meant I had to go in for a bite! (Lucky warning: this is a quick review)
Came here for lunch and was blown away by the food. The menu has a focus on fresh, seasonal produce with a definite Middle eastern twist on the flavours. The specials are always delicious too. I shared the Bazaar and a special salad of roast vegetables. Both amazing!
Susie Q is one of those places that locals know about. It's not in the main strip of Surry Hills. It's kind of hidden off a little side street and the only hint it's there is the fold out side on Albion St pointing you in it's direction. We'd heard of it from friends a while a go and had it on our ever growing list of places to try.
We loved this little laid-back cafe down one of the quieter blocks in Surry Hills. The obvious theme here is music.
Hidden little gem!. I almost wish i could keep this place to myself but I have no doubt that soon enough there will be people queuing up to get a seat! I’ve said it before but I’ll say it again - I am such a fan of the all-day menu. Nothing worse than rocking up to a place dreaming of eggs to be told that you’re ten minutes too late. We went at 11.30 on a Sunday and it wasn’t too busy. The service was super friendly and efficient. Coffee was even better than the service so naturally I inhaled my first piccolo and went on to order another. We had the eggplant, barley and kale special and the Breakfast at Epiphanie’s. Both were delicious and a good portion size. Eggplant features heavily on the menu which really works for me. Thank you Suzie Q. I’ll see you again soon.
Chill lil brunch spot. Suzie q is a very quaint little joint tucked into a residential area. i think it also sells records, although i didn't check it out myself. the place itself has a really nice ambience thanks to the open layout and feels like somewhere you could relax for a couple of hours, save for when it can get busy during the breakfast or lunch rush.
ingredients were fresh, everything was perfectly cooked, however dishes took ~45 minutes to come. coffee also excellent.
would return in a heartbeat.
Great find! A laid back cool cafe serving delicious, innovative food, great coffee and playing the best music. This and the friendly, helpful service makes Susie q stand out amongst the plethora of cafes in surry hills.
Good food & good music...what's not to love?. The vibe at Suzie Q was relaxed and friendly. We tried the arepas (fried egg/chorizo and poached eggs/avocado/herb salad), the pulled pork burger and the salads (lamb and haloumi). Though the arepas were pretty damn hard and the pulled pork was a little dry (though fixed with the chutney on the side), these minor flaws were forgiven after the first mouthfuls of food. Ingredients were fresh and every dish was delicious, packed with flavour. The coffee was quite good.
Staff were welcoming, if a little distracted (took some time to take our orders and needed to ask for water). We were also lucky to have a live DJ spinning tracks as it was a Suncay. We'll be back for sure - the Milosaurus is on my wish list!
