Amazingly delicious food, perfect location, and friendly staff! I recommend the cauliflower dish and the linguini! The donuts for dessert is must! Definitely recommend visiting this bar/restaurant!!
Have been here many times.
Food - Amazing (cheese desert platter is a must)
Staff - Awesome
Price - certainly worth it.
First experienced this place 2 years ago and it's been a regular ever since
Always a great dining experience.
The food is delicious and the cocktails amazing. Great wine menu also.
Rhaad and his staff are very friendly and always welcoming. Will definitely be back for more.
I highly recommend it.
First time dining there and my sister and I loved it. We were excited for the 5 course degustation sharing menu and didn't disappoint. Superb wine list and couldn't resist the cheese board, yum! Friendly staff and ambience was nice. Thanks guys!
Out favourite go to restaurant in Sydney!! Whether it's for lunch, dinner or just a cheeky aperol spritz this place can't be beaten. Uber friendly staff and a real cool crowd. PS: I'm loving their new wine list - they obviously know their stuff.
Our favourite restaurant when visiting Sydney. Fantastic atmosphere, fabulous food, and an extensive wine list! All delivered by friendly, knowledgeable staff. Go with a group so you can try and share everything on the menu - it’s all so good!!
This place is super amazing and multo bene! They started a new menu last week and I tried the rabbit gnocchi soooo good! Also the cauliflower pasta is to die for! Service is actually the best I've had in Sydney and the cosy atmosphere matches it. If you haven't tried this place yet do so!
Well, when I was searching for a winery in Surry Hills and I found this Italian style winery I was firstly doubtful... As I always be anytime I try an "Italian" restaurant or bar here in Australia.
I was there with my girlfriend looking for a bottle of wine and some snack. Just a time killer before the real dinner. We choose a bottle of Italian white wine from Avellino (I cannot remember the brand, but it was something you could easily find in any Italian winery) and a cheese plate. Guys, I must say that the cheese selection and serving presentation were excellent.
This experience has been the most similar to an Italian "aperitivo" I have very had since I moved here to Australia.
Will come back for sure.
There is nothing not to love about this place... The food and wine menu is excellent.. The staff are friendly and look after you.. I always have a top time here thanks to Rhaad and the team...
One of the best meals and service in a very long time.
The 5 course Degustation did not disappoint and Alberto’s charismatic and informed service made it a perfect evening! Thank you so much for having us.
Always a pleasure coming here for a quick glass of vino & cheese plate or a full sit down meal with friends - great service, and incredible new menu!!
Fantastic food and impeccable service. My partner and I had the 5 course degustation with matching wines and finished off with the cheese board .... well worth it. By the end of our meal we were ready to be rolled out of there. Highly recommended! :)
Amazing food and great service! Those 3 bottles of wine went down a treat also! ;) Will be back again for sure.
Two words: Sambuca olives. Could not fault the service, food or atmosphere. A superb night out. This place definitely goes to the top of my list. The special of jamon, Gorgonzola and figs was absolutely perfect. An Impressive wine list didn't hurt either. Definitely five stars.
I visited this restaurant with my girlfriend for a date night. The food was amazing, and the service friendly and professional! It was a lovely setting and a thoroughly enjoyable evening. I will definitely be coming back again!
Thank you guys
The takeaway pasta serves were huge - three small serves out of each box - so I'll give them points for that. The duck ragu (expensive) had fairly tough and tasteless duck so the chicken and mushroom (not expensive) was the best value pasta despite being fairly bland. The pork belly entree tasted the best but was mostly pretty tough.
This was a great impromptu find! We happened to be walking along Crown St and the sign outside mentioning “all you can eat pasta for $20 per head” was a winner. We took our seats at the bar, and were attended to very promptly. There’s a good selection of wines, and the all you can eat pasta selection was diverse and the portions were generous. Aside from one of the pastas being slightly undercooked, the food was very high in quality. The fact that you need to book to get a table any day of the week is a testament in itself.
Situated in the prime location of Crown st Surry hills, this place does some good Italian! We had a few starters to share, all of which were very delicious and decent sized. I had the duck ragu for the main, very flavoursome. I think the pasta was hand made with great texture. Overall a very pleasant experience.
Went here with a friend for afternoon cocktails which turned into dinner.. Was absolutely blown away by the simple yet impressive menu of this little wine bar come restaurant. The decor is stunning.. next time i'm going try the tasting menu..
Love this cocktail bar for some great pre-dinner drinks!! I started with an espresso martini which was very good, I usually find them quite bitter and overpowering but Mille Vini has managed to get it just right. Next I had a Mojito, my favourite, which was fantastic. Not too badly priced either, with specials between 5-7pm. The service was really good and attentive. Overall a really great place to catch up with friends and family.
This is our third visit to Mille Vini and it was good. The service was quick, attentive and not over bearing. We had bread to start, pappardelle and the vegetarian pasta. The pappardelle was very tasty and lovely to eat. The vegetarian pasta was a bit of a let down. All in all, it was a good experience. A lovely Italian wine to compliment the evening.
When visiting, be mindful of the seating arrangements - a bit too close together so it makes conversation a tiny bit uncomfortable. But not a deal breaker. For dinner for 2 with a nice bottle of wine, expect to pay about $120.

Mille Vini means a thousand wines in Italian and this Surry Hills restaurant have a massive range available by the glass or by the bottle and a menu filled with delicious pastas. They do a lunch special all week with a house antipasti plate and a pasta of your choice for $29 which is a bargain.
The pasta is good, the parfait for a starter is decent, and it's reasonably priced. My favorite was the duck ragu pappardelle, but I also enjoyed the cauliflower with fettuccine. The zucchini five ways with risotto had some good flavors, but was a bit under seasoned (easily rectified with the salt on the table though).
Love the food here! Me and my boyfriend love coming here for a date night and always end up ordering the set menu. Never disappoints but leaves us ridiculously full! There is a great wine selection and the service is impeccable
Stunning wine list with consistently great food and impeccable service. Rhaad and his staff have never failed in providing us with a fantastic evening, no matter who we are entertaining. Thank you Mille Vini!
Nice ambience and the concept is italian share plates. We had 4 entrees to share between 3 persons - olives, arancini, pork belly and bruschetta. All were good but nothing was spectacular. Pork belly was a notable mention as the fat melted in your mouth but I'm more used to a crispy exterior which was a bit lacking.
I had the grilled Atlantic salmon as a main and although flavours were good, the fish was a little overcooked on the edges but perfect in the centre. My friend had the mushroom risotto and we even had dairy removed but it probably was the best risotto I have had in years. The consistency of the risotto rice was perfect and the smell of the mushrooms had really soaked into the rice. I am generally a meatosaurus but this impressed me.
We ended with the chocolate fondant. Unfortunately, the center did not ooze sufficiently, so digging into it was a little bit of a letdown.
Staff and service are great and the wine selection is pretty good as well. Also enjoyed watching the kitchen at work!
Do yourself a favour and visit here. Service is the best you'll find and the food/wine is amazing. Recommend the Ragu and the in house dessert special Singing (donut balls with Nutella) Make sure you book though!
Two words.. Hat Trick!! Venue, Wine and Food all three are delightful. There are so many options on Crown St and this is a standout from the norm. Great for a romantic night or a group dinner. The Parpadelle is to die for!!
Mille Vini has been one of my favourite go to restaurants for a while now.the food is consistently delicious, the service is friendly and efficient and the wine list is long and varied.
I like this place enough to take my fussy foodie friend. Stumbled upon it by accident with a girlfriend one night after a fashion show and we were in heaven. Every time I've been we've ordered lots of little plates with a bottle of red and transcended onto another place beyond this world. Nice and intimate setting. I happily take any friends here
Great night. Went to Mille Vini on Saturday night. Had a set menu (happened to be all the meals we were planning on ordering) all the dishes were delicious including pork, beef and lamb ragu. Calamari. And pork belly. For dessert we had gorgeous donut type balls with nutella drizzled over them. Such a cute little intimate wine bar and restaurant. Definitely will be back again!
Mille Vini is an Italian wine bar and eatery located just a few doors up from the more well known Messina in Surry Hills. Rustic Italian food with a Sicilian touch and lots of share plates combined with a very impressive wine list.
Last night, H and I headed out to Surry Hills for dinner and drinks. It was a highly anticipated meeting for both of us as, hence the multiple celebratory cocktails! Our first stop was at Essenza Italian, a cozy restaurant situated on the corner of Devonshire and Crown Streets. Our window seats ensured maximum natural light for nice photos. Marinated sicilian green olives Garlic bread My cosmopolitan, her mojito We both gravitated towards the gnocchi; I had the dish with prawns, vodka, olives, basil, cream and cherry tomatoes. I had never tasted a pasta this incredible, the gnocchi was pillowy and the prawns were absolutely moreish. This is the dish to come back for! H had a glorious one full of broccoletti, tomato, olives, pine nuts and lemon nut butter. I’m excited to try out Essenza’s other pasta offerings because I’m sure they are just as incredible. Then it got dark, so after tasting the complimentary cookies we made our way to the bar across the road. While my friend had the cide

A wine bar downstairs and a restaurant upstairs, this is the kind of place where they have about 6 options on the menu, and the waiters and the wines are all italian. We were warmly greeted and shown to a nice table upstairs away from some of the noise. The waiters were charming, with cute italian accents and cute faces to match. They had run out of the wine that A wanted, so alternatives were offered, samples were tasted, and all was well again in the world.
...Mille Vini is now my top place to get an Italian food fix. Having eaten here several times now and tried many dishes on the menu I can say that I have never got a dish I did not like. As the name suggests in addition to the great food there is an extensive wine list with many Italian choices with some local wines on the list as well. Meat platter $29 - no longer on the menu last time I ate here however I still asked the w aitress for it and i was in luck because she said the kitchen would still make one up Aranciini $14 - saffron rice balls , crumbed and lightly fried with aloli Caprese $17 - fresh mozzarella, tomatoes and basil. A perfect example of simple Italian cooking. Spicy popcorn prawn $16 - with chili salt and lime Toasted Bread $2 Pork Belly $14 – fried pork belly with spicy balsam
I've never been here before and it was a great place for a quick glass of cold wine facing Crown Street at the bar area to do some late night people watching. I like the bottles of wine reaching up to the ceiling, the strange cut out in the wall to expose the raw bricks beneath. It's a cozy place and I'll need to head back here to try out the menu.

New management and Chef John Lanzafame rattling the pans finally gave me cause to visit this Italian wine bar, which – I’m almost ashamed to admit – has been in operation for over a decade. Better late than never I think, over a warmed skillet of Sambuca Fritti Olives ($6.50) that defied my intense aniseed expectations with compelling, syrupy sweetness....

It might seem sacrilegious to drink a cocktail at an Italian wine bar, and maybe even more so by starting with a Martini ($15) in lieu of more Italian choices such as an Aperol Spritzer ($12.) It washes our down generous share plates of meatballs and crispy fried calamari, well. Without a booking, we’re seated at the downstairs bar - the tables were all taken.
I've passed by Mille Vini on the busy part of Surry Hills' Crown Street a thousand times but had not ventured into the veteran wine bar until a few months ago. Perhaps it was the thought of 1,000 wines (translation of Italian mille vini ) subconsciously intimidating me. Late last year the former founders of the Crust Gourmet Pizza chain took over the business, retaining its name and wine bar concept and bringing in chef John Lanzafame, a recognised pizza maestro, in the kitchen though not for pizzas. Wine shelf at Mille Vini, Crown Street, Surry Hills Chef Lanzafame brings a rustic southern Italian menu - of share plates, pasta and more - to life in the small, narrow kitchen with plenty to tempt both nibblers and diners in a casual and accessible setting. The two-storied space is full of character, being a heritage-listed building from the 19th century that was once used as a stonemason's workshop. Wooden beans in the ceiling History aside, Mille Vini's current wine bar status means
Great Food, would definitely go again!. Time: Monday night, no reservation.
With: 3 friends
Antipasti: Arancini - so yummy, could eat more. Pork Belly - so sweet and delicious, I'm a sucker for a good pork belly and this one was so good......... Calamari - was ok, nothing special. Polpettine Fritti - was ok, but probably wouldn't order again.
Main: Lobster Gnoccho - was quite chilli but very good! Was given a big gnocchi medallion that was smooth and creamy.
Service: Good and attentive.
Atmosphere: Sat downstairs and ambience was nice and relaxing. Could hear and talk to everyone on the table.
Verdict: Grade A, would definitely go back and recommend to friends.

Three Melbourne ladies out on the town in Sydney and we hear about Mille vini. Decide to have dinner there and what a dining experience it was. John runs a tight, delicious ship. Service was exemplary- our waiter recommended a fabulous Italian shiraz that was perfect. I recommend the antipasto platter to start and the gnocchi was gorgeous. All in all- a fabulous night in a wonderful restaurant. It's a must go to if you're in the area.
Delicious meal in chic surrounds.. My friends and I are italian and 'food snobs' from Melbourne but we have enjoyed a fantastic dinner (with excellent wine recommendation from the waiter) at Mille Vini. Delicious antipasto selections and pasta. Romantic restaurant with awesome service. Our new 'go to' place in Sydney and not to be missed.
Got a table without booking on Saturday night. Amazing food, had the chicken and duck for the main. Extensive wine list and great atmosphere!
Amazing food and wine!!! W.... Amazing food and wine!!!
Went here with a few friends after hearing they recently changed management and can I say they have done wonders with this place. I had previously gone when the old management had it and thought id never be back but these guys and their new head chef are really on a winner now.
Upon walking into the place it really does have a great vibe as the staff are very welcoming and really attentive. The decor is chic and modern with some really fresh beats playing in background.
In terms of the food Everything we had was amazing the pasta dishes were so fresh and ingreedients used in season. The main was a shared slow cook lamb shoulder with garlic aioli sauce, it litrally was falling off the bone and perfectly seasoned.
For desert we had the chocolate donuts which were to die for. They use imported Nutella from Italy which means it's not the powdered milk crap we get here it's the full cream milk stuff. All in all an awesome experience.
Will definatly be going back soon!
Service good, mains were great, tasty and perfect size portions. Stick to wine (they have a great list as you would expect) as cocktails were poor, go next door to Messina for dessert as they looked like they had been prepared three days before and refrigerated - average at best - Nutella in the tiramisu?!?
Lovely food, ambience and service.
Best Cheeseboard. MUST EAT:
Cheeseboard (Seriously the best cheeseboard in town)
SO SO:
Arancini
Baked Eggplant
MISS:
Polenta chips. (Bloodwood does a better job)
SERVICE:
The first time I went for drinks and the service was shocking.
The second time I went the staff members were a lot more friendly, including the guy that first served me.
By the third time I'm pretty sure they recognised me so it's not so bad anymore.
Will have to return to eat.
PS: Girls at the table next to us had pasta and sent it back saying it was crunchy.
MrsK. Went with my husband. Very attentive staff, food amazing - loved the eggplant dish and delicious meatballs in a lovely homemade tomato salsa....The italian donuts with a side of chocolate sauce were absolutely to die for. Oh! and an amazing wine list too.. Have been back and taken friends along too, always love going there has a nice cosy feel.
Oh the ambiance!. Went here because I heard there was a new chef/management and had a wonderful evening! Such a nice feel and look. The food was amazing, as was the wine. Staff were authentic and attentive. Perfect place for a date or a meal/drinks with friends. Will definitely be back :)
My girlfriend and I ate here 2 or so weeks ago and I can't wait to go back we enjoyed their delicious food , the chocolate mousse was amazing and the service was friendly all in all a great place to dine
Dinner last night was beautiful! The lamb shoulder was slow cooked and to die for. Great atmosphere. Highly recommend!
Had a group dinner after work, tapas were yummy, great atmosphere, recommend the arancini and pasta. maybe a little pricey but will def go back.
Italian done right. Great whole in the wall with an impressive wine lsit. Perfect for thsoe just wanting a wine, but I had a great meal too. Ragu pasta and a veal steak - it is a good example of Italian cooking done right. Simple, fresh and delicious.
Overpriced for wine and food, however the food was nice but nothing special to rave about .
Great food & wine, service only ok. Stopped by on Sunday afternoon for a couple of bottles of lovely Italian white. Pecked on some of the entrees, very delicious and had food-envy looking at the dishes other customers had on their tables.
Service could have been better, staff seemed like they didn't really want to be there.
Will still probably go back as would like to try a proper meal.
Good looking, great personality, and fun!. I have to give these guys the big ups they deserve! From the design, to the staff, to the menu its all good!
I have been to dine a number of times and each and every time they get it right, so very right. I took a friend in recently and when we arrived they we full (of course) and so we were put on the bar area. This should be the first seat to go as we not only got to watch the chefs in action, but they actually cooked for us and even took our order.... This experience was awesome! In total I lost count of how many delicious morsels of food we had offered up, but each and every one of them were amazing. From the soft, pillows of airy gnocchi, to the hand made tagliatelle, they did not miss a beat. The wines were good with the standout being the chianti that the chef also recommended!
The service staff were all very helpful and were there when required, but the chef definitely made the evening.
Overall they ticked all the boxes, fun, delicious, friendly, and all wrapped up in a good looking venue...
I'll see you again soon!
I've been here twice now and the food is excellent. Shame about the extremely rude waiter. Alas I think the meal and general ambience will take me back for a third time.
What a fantastic place! Went here last night and had the most delicious Itslian tapas! Mushroom croquettes were a standout as was the Fettucini Ragu. Chicken breasts wrapped in prosciutto and Polpettini (meatballs) were also great. Wine there is not cheap but the Sangiovese we had was spectacular and matched perfectly with the food. Good service overall tho we had to ask for our empty wine glasses to be filled a couple of times. Will definitely be back!!
Great ambience. Went for a quiet predinner drink. Didn't eat just enjoyed a wine and some olives. Would recommend it as a good strarting spot for a night in Surry Hills.

Awesome food and wine ;)... Service was excellent
Great Experience. 2nd time having dinner here. Although it was a busy Saturday night, we didn't have a booking and there were no available tables, we were seated at the bar with little fuss. We shared a number of dishes between 4 of us and all of them were excellent. Great wine list, unobtrusive yet attentive service and a great atmosphere and look to the place. We are guaranteed to return.
Just finished dinner here. Loved it. Totally. Tried to get in once before and got turned away rather snootily. This tome however, the only thing surpassing the great friendly and informative service was the wonderful food. Definitely going back. And soon!
They just introduced a breakfast menu coffee is great
Really good food. Try to get a seat upstairs if you can. I think the place is better for tapas rather than their "main meals".
Great atmosphere and fantastic food/wine. Would eat there weekly if I could.
