I have to say I love this place. The service is always so prompt and friendly and the food is amazing and there is a great selection of drinks. I have never liked brussels sprouts, but their caramelised version turned me into a believer. The Seared Scallop is another one of our favourites. Moredeo has the best of both worlds you can stay in the bar area for when you in the mood or retreat to the dinning space for a more intimate feel. Moredeo has become a regular for my girlfriend and I.

Random selection on a midweek evening turned out to be an excellent choice. Service: 9/10* Food: 9/10* Simple banquet for three with drinks for far less than you would expect for the price. 1. Make booking. 2. Turn up. 3. Order. 4. ???? 5. Enjoy food coma. *9's only because there will always be something someqhere better. ** Bonus point for quality TP.

I took my young family for a visit to the City and we discovered this absolute gem of a restaurant by surprise. Lunch time is always busy, but Mordeo provided a comfortable and exceptional meal experience. The staff were very attentive, especially having young children in my presence, they were very accomodating. We enjoyed the Ricotta/Spinach Pizza, their delicious slow cooked lamb and incredible fresh Risotto. We will definitely be returning to enjoy some of their other menu offerings.

We came here after work on a weekday, and man were we impressed! Bread service is $2 pp which is new to me, but it was decent bread at least.

But the standout was the braised short rib with smoked mash. The meat was just fall apart tender, covered in a delicious, meaty jus, set on top of an amazingly buttery, smoky, well-seasoned, generous pile of mashed potatoes. Best western food I've had for a while.

The tuna pasta was great as well, with a generous portion and big ol shaving of cheese.

Highly recommend coming to anyone in Sydney CBD!

Not to be mistaken with the salad/sandwich bar next to it (which my friend did). The Bistro actually occupies a nice space & a causal yet sophisticated vibe. Perfect for a special occasion lunch close to the office. The food were amazing, generous portion sizes, great for sharing. We had the special Duck Ragu Pappardelle with truffle oil. The pasta was perfectly cooked, nice fragrant hint of truffle oil without overpowering the dish. The salt & fennel fried squid was good, the squids were moorish, the white bean salad was interesting, but wish there were more fresh greens to balance the oil & salt of the fried squid. Overall a great dining experience.

If I had a local in the CBD, this would be it. Described as a 'hidden gem' when it first began, the secret is well and truly out on Mordeo. What do you need to know? Quality Italian, reasonable prices, casual surroundings. It's hard to go wrong really. With my name, I had to try the porcini mushroom ravioli, and it is worth it. A terrific amount of ravioli arrived in a creme fraiche and thyme sauce, with plenty of bite to the pasta. The hummus is a hit, with warm flat-bread and olive oil, though you'll probably be asking for more bread to demolish the hummus. The salt and fennel fried squid is light and crispy without being drowned in batter, while the 12 hour roast beef short rib will be literally falling off the bone it comes served on. My only query is what happened to the delicious lamb rump in jus that used to be on the menu - but perhaps it will come back. The bar is crazy popular, so be prepared for crowds if you're coming on a Thursday or Friday night, but do yourself a favour and order some food for the full experience.

If this is what city life has to offer, then I’m all for it. Amazing, relaxed and funky restaurant in the CBD. Beautiful food and wonderful service. Each dish was better than the next and if you have a sweet tooth, the dessert is a MUST !! Loved the whole experience.

Mordeo Bar and Bistro is a hidden little gem at the bottom of a large office building in Sydney CBD. Matt and I have date night at Mordeo Bar and Bistro recently. I had never been here before. The decore at Mordeo Bar and Bistro is dimly lit, cosy and inviting.  Matt and I cheers to some drinks. I really needed a drink after a stressful day at work. Matt tries a really refreshing but unique Agave Cider with ginger. Something a bit different. I opt for a nice glass of Torbreck 'The Steading' which is a mix of grenache, shiraz and mataro ($16). I love my red wines especially those with some depth and peppery tones. After some contemplation, Matt and I order some dishes off the menu with some recommendations from the friendly staff. Mordeo is an Italian bar and restaurant located at Deutsche Bank Place in Sydney CBD serving up delicious Italian fare and drinks. The venue is set in an airy al fresco space with beautiful water features and strong outdoor heaters to keep happy patrons warm in the heart of winter. Mordeo often runs special dinner events and we had the pleasure of joining them recently for the ‘A Night in Venice’ Italian wine appreciation dinner.

Loved the wagyu bresaola and cantimpalo salumi their charcuterie board. The smoke flavour these guys get into their meat and bread is amazing! These guys do a great pork belly and 12 hour smoked short rib.

[invite] Bianca: Mordeo has quietly been chugging along for three years now, wedged in a very corporate locale heading towards the rocks. They serve a Southern European menu with a strong wine list. I loved the oversized lamps in the courtyard, which led to an internal debate whether such a thing would like ridiculous in my apartment.  First things first, the crowd is very very corporate – expect to see a lot of work lunches and dinners. Besides that, the food is actually very good.

You could be mistaken for thinking this is a very poorly shaped patty as it comes to the table - but when you discover it's super smokey, fall apart brisket you can easily forgive them. The balance of the tangy pickle and peppery rocket with the richness of the beef work well - it's a beautiful soft bun too. Fries were very basic but salted nicely. Matching food and drink is a thing, but you usually associate food and wine. How about matching food and beer? No I’m not talking kebabs and pies, rather a more refined experience. The good people of Mordeo Bistro and Bar with Stone and Wood teamed up to bring such an experience. Mordeo located on the corner of Phillip and Hunter St in the vicinity of Chifley towers. Making Mordeo the perfect location for this event to take place. Mordeo has a stocked bar with beer on tap and is a great spot for after work drinks. There is also space for dining including a separate space for a group or an intimate corporate dining experience.

Love the building foyer here. Such a grand space and nice spot for a coffee meet up and lunch time eat. Cappuccino ($4 dine in) uses Campos Coffee and the barista did a good job with pleasant flavour and strength achieved. Service was friendly and fairly efficient. I've heard good things about the tempting lunch menu. The Crisp Lamb Ribs with rosemary salt & yoghurt dressing is calling my name. The bar area is always packed on a Friday evening with suits from the surrounding area.

Great atmosphere and service and a good selection of vegetarian meals (cheese based of course). Although meals a pricey and look small they are incredibly filling and hearty. They have a lovely array of wine to choose from too - perfect for a romantic date out.

Yummy pasta! OMG I've been recommended by work colleagues to try their pasta bar; it took me 2 weeks to muster up the courage to go and try it as the line for the pasta bar is intimidating. It was right on the spot 1.10pm when I went yesterday, the line hasn't snaked as long so I went ahead.

Ordered the angel hair pasta in tomato sauce, lots of garlic and prawns in it. And I requested extra chilli ( coz I like to live dangerously hehe). Only waited about 5-7min whilst I watched the cooks prep the pasta fresh in front of me.

And wow the taste of the pasta just exploded in my mouth! Prawns were fresh, sauce is not too spicy but has a hint of creaminess in it, and the pasta itself is made al dente just the way I like it!

Portion is not too large, it filled my tummy just right. And for $13 it's a lunchtime bargain! Will definitely be back again!

By far the best. Was staying at the Sofitel hotel and checked the Liven app to see what's nearby and this was very enticing. We went for the "Trust the Chef" for 48pp, the waiter and manager both are super duper nice people. We were so happy the whole time, and  were too full to handle every surprises we get from the chef. To top this happiness, by using the Liven app to pay the bill, I saved 25 percent off the bill and I donated that to Salvation Army. Excellent food, excellent ambience and excellent service.

Honestly, the best way to describe Mordeo (in my view) is that it's good - not great.

There's absolutely nothing wrong with it, but nor is there anything especially right.

The service, food, ambience were all good but there was nothing inspiring there - they did all of it well, but it seemed to lack a spark.

My friend and I shared the Chef's Tasting Menu and agreed it was good value with the mushroom risotto being the highlight for me.

The wine list... A bit 'meh' with the by the glass options. But otherwise had a few options by the bottle.

Not sure I'd be back, but nor would I discourage anyone from visiting.

Quite enjoyable. We attended for a Friday night dinner and went with the four course "Trust the Chef" menu. The chef takes into account dietary preferences you may have and serves dishes accordingly. The food tasted nice and there was plenty of it. Really, there was heaps of food and we struggled to finish it. The service was very friendly and attentive. The atmosphere was vibrant, and despite the noise my wife and I could comfortably hold a conversation without issue. We would go back.

pizzas came out fresh and hot from the oven... cheese was well melted, coming apart in the lovely stringy fashion that all pizza-eaters desire. The dough was soft, unburnt, and made for a pleasant soft texture all round.

Located in the Assembly of Deutsche bank place, Mordeo is perfectly situated for those after work drinks for anyone working in the city – from suits to creative types. The giant lampshades that mark its presence are eye-catching – you definitely can’t miss it! The space is surprisingly warm as well, despite the open-air location.

Mordeo is well set out with a bar on one side and restaurant on the other. The menu is Southern European influenced - think Spain, Italy, Greece and France. This creates a great range with something for everyone - even in a fussy group.

Nestled beneath five giant table lamps in the ultra-modern Deutsche Bank Place foyer, I find myself smiling. It could be bartender Sarah Jane Clare’s Jamon & Char-grilled Pineapple Sazerac ($18) warming my heart with smooth butter-washed cognac, or maybe I just like this spot? You can treat it like a bar by starting with a Red Wolf ($15) – the cocktail you have when you can’t decide between a beer and an aperitif... ...before getting stuck into finger food like Caramelised Lamb Ribs ($12) made sticky and delicious by golden syrup. Or there are cute Bocadillos ($7/each) – they’re sliders from a Spanish mother – with grilled chorizo, piquillo peppers and lashings of saffron aioli. You could also treat this spot like a restaurant, and allow charming host Pascal Lebreux to “ take you on a journey ”. Stunning location, excellent food and great atmosphere.. Recommended by a friend, off to Mordeo we go. It is located in the atrium foyer of the Deutsche bank which is open on one side to the street. A stylish and modern layout with both a good bar/social area as well as a dining area. Live music is played on both Thursday/Friday as well. (We were there on a Thursday night). We decided that we were hungry and wanted to share a number of plates, Pascal was exceedingly helpful in making sure we got to sample a good range of the excellent dishes on offer. Amongst the plates, Chorizo, Smoked Pork Hock Terrine, Yia Yia's Taramsalata (anything from Grandma is good!), Salmon croquettes, and seared scallops. Every dish was tasty, and moreish. So we added a Wood fired pizza with the Salami and Gamberi to wrap up what was a great choice to share. Desert included the Creme Brulee (Catalan) and Greek Donuts, with a good coffee. One of our group also sampled some of the specialty cocktails which he enjoined immensely. The food across the board was great, the service quick and the location ideal.

Our favourite spot at the moment. Been a while since our/my last review....we were probably just having fun enjoying good food (and each other's company of course) and not having much time to sit and put all the thoughts down. But having been to Mordeo so many times now it deserves a proper review to spread the good word. Or maybe I just wanted to keep this gem all for myself:)
Anyways, here it goes. Mordeo opened its doors, or rather its inviting arms not too long ago. It's situated in the building of Deutsche Bank, corner Hunter and Phillip Street. I can't wait for the time when I tell a taxi driver one single word "Mordeo" and they will know exactly where to drop us off. I'm sure this will happen very soon.
The place is beautiful and cosy. Feels like a sanctuary in the huge and cold environment of the big office building.
I heard about Mordeo from a friend who likes his food so we decided to give it a try several months ago and have been their regulars since.
There are actually three venues, a salad bar, pasta bar (pasta made on the spot, awesome!) which are lunch favourites and bar&bistro for after work drinks and food.
The staff is great, attentive and very friendly. They know their business and many times we let them choose for us, whether it were dishes or wines.
I’m always determined to take photos of all the beautiful creations, however the second a nice big bowl of mussels is put on the table in front of me (only on Wednesdays) this thought is long forgotten.

We have probably tried all the dishes from the menu but still haven’t got tired of them. I even had some pizza and pasta!! (trying not to eat too much of carbs but in this case my willpower is nowhere to be found). One of my favourites are the lamb ribs. When Mordeo opened, however, there was a different and very interesting variation on the menu (ribs on a bed of hummus with pickled chilli), they recently took it off for me still unknown reason. I’ve been complaining about this a lot..only to my man of course:) Other favourites are slow roasted lamb (soo tender), stuffed chicken ballotine served on a tomato orzotto (pearl barley) and fish of the day which is always prepared beautifully. The best dish-side of all however is caramelised Brussel sprouts. Far out!! They’re fantastic and if you don’t feel like a dessert after the feast, you definitely have to order these as a side to your lamb, chicken, steak..whatever. Just get them!! A friend of mine commented the other day, that this is the perfect way how to make everyone love this not very popular vegetable. Another very nice light dish to share is ancient grain salad served with fresh fig, grapes and youghurt.
I love how Mordeo serves all these different and beautiful dishes you cannot get anywhere else. I’ve heard they’re about to change the menu so hopefully they’ll keep up the fantastic work. I can’t wait to try all the new creations and I hope my man is as keen as I am. Sharing food you love with someone you love is pure happiness...x
