This place has been high on my list to dine at for a long time and it did not disappoint. We had a party of 11 and we were seated upstairs. The restaurant is not for big groups so this area is the best for large gatherings. We had the $50 set menu and the food just kept coming. We started off with plates of antipasti including cured meats, mushrooms, fritters and the stars...prosciutto and buffalo. Then came the cacio e pepe...the famous pecorino pasta wheel. What a great concept..a real crowd pleaser. Delicious! In particular Courtney the waitress was extremely attentive. A great night was had by all .Highly recommended.

The Buffalo Dining Club is a unique piece of authentic Italy dropped in the middle of Sydney’s urban chic, in Darlinghurst, about four years ago. To say the Buffalo Dining Club is shoebox sized, would be generous. The entire place can seat about 40 at the most, but it has atmosphere by the bucketloads. As the name suggests, the Buffalo Dining Club is dedicated to that most royal of cheeses, the freshest buffalo mozzarella on this side of the equator, imported from Campania in Italy The other signature dish you must try is Cacio e Pepe, that fabulous and deceptively simple Roman pasta dish – spaghetti tossed with olive oil, pecorino cheese and pepper. The way the dish is served from a hollowed-out wheel of cheese is practically performance art … As a slight variation the Buffalo Dining Club adds a hint of continental parsley to this dish. Unless you fly off to Roma to experience Cacio e Pepe in its hometown, preferably at Roscioli or Antica Pesa, in Sydney the Buffalo Dining Club is a good bet. Overall, the system is simple. To start, you pick one of four available cheeses with any two of the sides listed on the blackboard. Then you can add prosciutto in 30, 60 or 90 gram portions, or some grilled mortadella, salumi or beef carpaccio. The second course is pasta. The choices are again on the blackboard, and will usually offer three choices, including the Cacio e Pepe and a buffalo ricotta gnocchi. There is a lovely choice of international wines to enhance the experience, from Italy, France, Spain, Portugal, South America and closer to home. The team behind the Buffalo Dining Club has another food adventure, the Chester White Diner in nearby Potts Point. Chester White Offers simple, delicious dishes built around cured meats, fish, and pickles.

Very good. Well worth the wait, even after failing to get a table on Saturday night. The wait staff were excellent, the atmosphere nice and the food awesome. Both the Cacio E Pepe and Gnocchi totally lived up to the hype and the whole experience was great for my friend before she flew back to Melbourne that night. Will definitely be back again :)

Wow. Four years since I’ve been to Buffalo Dining Club, and it’s refreshing to see a restaurant that found a great formula, stuck to it, and that it’s still doing booming business.

On a Friday night, it was packed, with a line-up (lucky we got a reservation) and frankly, I did find the tiny table for two at the side of the restaurant a little … small, with little space between us and the backs of the big guys at the shared table ... (see my blog post for the full review)

Amazing food! The cheese wheel served pasta is incredible, it is definitely worth the price, incredible flavours. When the gnocchi came out the portion seemed fairly small, although after eating it, the portion was perfect and the taste was incredibly worth it. Lovely experience and would definitely come back!

We’d been meaning to visit this place for some time. Having been to many of their neighbours, it had always looked interesting, busy and quirky. Being an Italian place was a bonus too. The chance suddenly arose and we grabbed it with both hands!. Buffalo Dining Club is a small place with a big reputation. Unsurprisingly, we started with some drinks. Being an Italian place and on a nice sunny day meant - Aperol Spritz time and an Italian red too. A good spritz is a joy to behold and consume and this was delicious.

Friendly service where the waitress recommended us the food choices, small and cosy with a cute dimly lit interior, and yummy cocktails and food. However serving sizes weren’t all that big (I suggest ordering the cheese board to fill you up more!)

I also recommend booking a reservation as this place has limited seating and gets busy quite quickly.

This place has always been on my food bucket list and it lived up to my expectations. The pasta swirled in the cheese wheel- DIVINE! It was perfectly seasoned, no extra salt, pepper or cheese needed! The restaurant itself is small and the menu is quite limited but I really liked the dishes I ordered. Besides the pasta, the zucchini fritters was probably my second choice! Love the simplicity!

When I arrived there was a small wait but I just found a local bar had a few drinks before dinner.

I dined here on a Wednesday night with a friend. We managed to get the last table outside without a booking. For starter we had the burrata with a side of spicy corn, gingery cherry tomatoes and crusty bread. The burrata was oozy on the inside as expected, the corn had a great kick of chilli and the tomatoes were refreshing and complemented the burrata very well. For main, I had the cacio e pepe served out of a pecorino cheese wheel. Definitely one for the cheese lovers. It was a very generous portion and unfortunately I was unable to finish it but what I did eat was delicious. The only comment I would mention is that because the pasta is spun around in the cheese wheel, the dish gets cold quite quickly. Overall, it was a lovely dining experience, friendly staff and a menu with a few other items that tickled my fancy so I will definitely be back.

Gnocchi was just devine. A serious must-order as you can really taste the homemade melt-in-your-mouth texture. I hope it remains on the menu forever as I will continue to get my gnocchi fix here. Although I came and left before the peak dinner time, it did take quite a while for the dish to reach my table.

Great food!! Service could definitely be improved though. The cheese was delicate, vegetables fresh, pasta was hot and I loved the complimentary addition of chili sauce on the side to add as I liked. The whole meal was delicious. The service though... left me disappointed at the end. Maybe it was impacted because they got busy, but by the end of my very polite dining experience I was never asked how my food was, nor thanked for coming, nor did anyone say goodbye when I went through the process of paying or when I passed them on the way out. Very low ending to what was otherwise a great meal.

I always love a good italian food when it’s cooked and serve properly. I am also a big fan of cheese specially mozzarinos’ (mozzarella and pecorino). To be honest, the place looks tiny when you first enter, but they have upstairs dining. it has a very cozy ambience, tiny tables and chairs but it’s all good coz the food is serve accordingly. Now! let’s talk about their cacio e pepe pasta! it’s serve on a wheel of pecorino, and the taste is superb. super simple but taste so good, perfect serving, not too much not too little. Al dente pasta and perfect seasoning. Gnocchi is perfect too. The burrata with brussel sprouts and broccolini with nduja (salami spread) is amazing too. Service is outstanding, always asking customers needs and good smiles, price is right. Too bad, we don’t drink on that day, would’ve tried their drink selection too since they have a good selection. Highly recommended!👌

Such a great place! We stumbled across this gem a few years ago while on a stopover in Sydney for a few hours and honestly my partner and I fly up to Sydney from Melbourne now just to eat here (at least once per trip). We always get 2 cheeses (with sides) and 2 pastas (the Cacio E Pepe is a must). The chilli mix that they have on the tables is amazing (but wish it wasn't so heavy on ginger- personal preference). Do make sure you go early to get a table on their busy nights!

I’d say definitely worth the wait if you have to. The vibe of this place is absolutely buzzing! Friendly service. The calamari was cooked to absolute perfection. Amazing golden brown crunch and substantial pieces. Then the caprese salad was to die for. Huge chunks of beautifully soft mozzarella with excellently dressed tomato. My only tiny let down was the pasta tossed in the cheese wheel. While it is genius, I felt like it wasn’t seasoned in the best way. Somehow the flavour was lacking a bit. But my friend had the gnocchi and it was superb. Finished off with a fluffy tiramisu. The lady fingers were absolutely dripping and the mascarpone was so rich. Definitely recommend this place!

We came here as a group and chose the set menu. The highlights of the night:
Gnocchi (4/5): Soft pillows of perfectly cooked heaven tossed in a delightful sauce that was made even better with a dollop of the house made chilli jam on top. Favourite dish of the night!

Cheeses (4/5): The Caprino goats cheese is so smooth and creamy and the Burratta is lightly salted and an absolute delight. The Scamorza smoked cheese was ok but definitely not as tasty as the others. The let down were the slices of bread to eat with the toast...they were stale and chewy and just not enjoyable :(

The zucchini fritters and eggplant (4/5): The fritters were so crispy and bursting with flavour inside, I could have eaten these all day! The eggplant was also crisp on the outside and melt in the mouth on the inside.

Tiramisu (4/5): I'm big on my desserts and this tiramisu was perfectly moist with balanced layers of cream and was not overly sweet

The dishes I didn't really love:

The spaghetti (3/5): Sure the cheese wheel is a fun touch but the taste of the spaghetti itself wasn't particularly seasoned enough and the spaghetti wasn't soft

There also weren't enough vegetarian options, while my friends enjoyed the calamari, jamon and the salami slices I just kind of sat there eating olives and feeling hangry :(

Me and my partner went there for a quick and early dinner. We ordered the cacio e Pepe or the ‘wheel pasta’ and the gnocchi with drinks. The pasta was simple, cheesy and delicious whereas the gnocchi was nice too but the star of the show was the chilli that they serve in jars and luckily also sell separately. Loved the food, the staff was very friendly and a joy to talk to. Would definitely recommend the place.

I've been wanting to come here ever since I saw the pasta in a cheese wheel, but this place isn't on the way to uni and outside of the city, so not super convenient to get to. Decided to come here to celebrate end of exams (since I had time to trek to food places outside the CBD). Most of the items on the menu are vegetarian, so this would make a good place for vegetarians who find there aren't many restaurants out there.

A cozy nook off one of the main streets in Darlinghurst, is where you’ll find Buffalo Dining club, home to the famous cheesewheel spaghetti. At the door, we were greeted by friendly waitstaff who led us to our table (no bookings for groups under 7) after a 5 min wait (dinner on a Saturday). The restaurant menu, albeit small, was confusing initially however, a waitress kindly taught us how to order. We ordered two cheese entrees which came with four sides (2 sides per cheese) and two mains to share between 5 people.
For our cheeses we ordered the “fresh buffalo mozzarella” and the “ossau-iraty”. For our sides we got the mushrooms, zucchini fritters, roasted pumpkin and broccolini, as well as a 60g serving of prosciutto. The entrees were delicious with the zucchini frittered definitely being the standout.
For mains, we got the cheesewheel spaghetti ofc and the pasta special of the day. Both mains servings were smaller than expected. The cheesewheel was served with an optional side of housemade chilli sauce which I highly recommend you use, as it adds that extra kick the dish needed. Overall, I would say I enjoyed the entrees more than the mains but definitely worth a try.

We had a quiet, peacful and satisfying dinner last Sunday and I must thank Buffalo Dinning Club for this. This is a modest looking outlet conviniently located in darlinghurst which plays by its strength that is pasta and cheese. The menu is very limited but whatever they serve they are delight to your taste buds. For entree we orderred Caprino cheese platter, which was generous in serving and full flavoured. For mains my wife ordered cheesewheel pasta and I ordered gnocchi pasta. Gnocchi was too soft and was melting in mouth. We expected a bit more from cheese wheel pasta. We thought that it will be too cheesy considering it was served in a cheese bowl but it seems cheese bowl was made up of hard cheese and was not making much difference in taste and was only enhancing presentation.

Pros: No frill dinning, friendly staff, no hurry despite being full house

Cons: If you are coming with baby, prepared to sit outside as inside its not so spacious and there is no child seat (We were told in advance about it)

Found this place from a search on 'pasta served from a cheese wheel' and this didn't disappoint.
Even lucky for me was the fact that there was a table for 4 immediately available (they don't take bookings for small groups).
Excellent service, love the style and the dishes are meant to be shared. The cold meats were delectable and the cheese with sides are fantastic value, but the star of the show, the pastas, lives up to the reputation. Fresh, well balanced flavours and cooked with love. The home-made chilli served from a jar is seriously hot as well.
0.5 taken off as it is a little cramped inside, and please turn the music down (or off) - the ambience and nearby kitchen noises are enough on your senses!
Happy to go back when there's a craving for cheese, selection of simple cold meats, and pasta.

I first heard about buffalo dining club for the pasta they serve to you from a cheee wheel. As a self-proclaimed cheese fanatic, I knew immediately that this was a must go location for myself. It took me two attempts coming here before I could get myself a table! The first time, I came a bit late and the wait was around 2hours. That’s how crazy popular this place is. The waiters are really friendly and extremely helpful in explaining the menu to you if you’re a first timer. Of course I had to get the pasta from a cheese wheel! It was what I expected, a delicious cheesy pasta! It is quite a simple pasta, just cheese & pepper and is comes packed with an extra bang if you add a bit of the chili sauce that is provided. Also ordered some buffalo mozzarella and others as an entree, as-well as a gnocchi main. The food is really delicious & I would come again (maybe when I know I can get a table without too much of a wait).

The food was just wonderful- we loved the cacio e pepe and the vegetable sides. There was a mix up with the order and the staff were so friendly about it and dealt with it very professionally. This place would get a 4.5/5 at least if it weren't for the deafening noise on a Saturday night- couldn't hear my dinner companions and we were sitting right next to each other! Also, I have no hearing loss or anything, it was just really loud.

This is a small Italian restaurant located about 5min walk from Kings Cross Station. Their menu is short and simple focusing on fresh cheese and delicious pasta. I went in a group of three and for starters, we ordered the fresh burrata (cows milk cheese) with zucchini fritters (which were a bit salty on their own) and mushroom sides. The cheese was so creamy and went perfectly with the sides and the prosciutto.

The highlight was the cacio e pepe in the cheese wheel. This came with a jar of chilli which you can add to the pasta for a bit of heat. This dish was so good we ordered a second one ahaha. The gnocchi was also really good being soft and not too grainy. Overall, the food was amazing and definitely one for the cheese lovers!

This place is busy even on a weeknight! I guess it is due to the small size of the restuarant despite having two floors. It is small and cozy which is perfect for dates and hangouts for 2-4 people. We ordered their Cheeses ($22) which comes with two sides as well. So we decided on burrata, wild mushrooms and broccolini. It also comes with toasted bread.  However I think they gave us the wrong order but it was too late to tell them because we were already more than halfway through. In fact, we got buffalo cheese, broccolini and brussel sprouts.

I am such a MASSIVE fan of the Buffalo dining club. From their selection of fresh cheeses to their beautiful prosciutto range and ofcourse the "cacio e pepe" (salt, pepper, olive oil and parsley in a pecorino cheese)! It is all FANTASTIC! I would recommend them in a heart beat! The atmosphere is great but without going early then you will probably be expected to wait about 30-60 minutes for a seat which is unfortunate but definitely worth the wait! I much prefer sitting outside, but regardless of where you sit, expect to be close to the tables around you. Service is fantastic, and everytime I have been, the waiters/waitresses are always more than happy to assist and make recommendations based on your personal preferences! Love it here!!

Buffalo Dining Club is a restaurant in Darlinghurst that revolves their dishes around Buffalo Mozzarella (hence the name!) which they import 3 times a week fresh from Campania in Italy. I have been to this place twice, a few years apart, as one of my friends invited us here for her birthday dinner. I was actually pleased with the prospect of eating here because of the coveted "Cacio e Pepe" dish swirled around a massive cheese wheel. The presentation of the said dish was definitely worth coming to King's Cross area for. All the dishes we ordered were tasty and well seasoned. This place felt a bit cramped especially when seated upstairs. The interiors of the place looked like an industrial area and this place offered indoor and outdoor seating.

I am not the biggest fan of pasta. If given a choice between red sauce and white sauce, I'll always choose red. I thought maybe it was my palate, I just didn't and couldn't appreciate eating pasta dressed only in olive oil and some cheese. Turns out I was having bad quality pasta.

Forget about fratelli fresh and vapiano and any other Italian restaurants. This is the real deal.

From a self professed non-fan of pasta, the pasta this restaurant makes, took my breath away. The cheese wheel pasta is to die for. Order it. I recommend it. In fact, I plan on visiting this place regularly until I get sick of it. The spaghetti was so delicious. I inhaled it. The cheese was amazing. I think they added something salty to the cheese, so amazing. It wasn't floating on olive oil. What's not to like? I finally get why people always talk about the pasta speak for itself and not having it too dressed. My best friend and I didn't talk for the length of the dinner, we were so busy decimating the food.

(P.s. The gnocchi was okay. Wouldn't recommend it. )

Update: I went there again last night! Still fantastic.

OMG THEY HAVE PASTA SERVED OUT OF A CHEESE WHEEL. Your life will change once you eat this. Fact.

While it loses half a point for not being able to book for small groups, I have to say this place is worth the wait. It's intimate and cosy, and pretty much if I guy took me on a date to eat cheese wheel pasta here I'd prob marry the dude.

Obviously the best dish here is the cheese wheel pasta. A cheesy peppery spaghetti tossed around in a cheese wheel and served direct to your plate. Just wow.

Also great to know the starters were also spot on. You can sort of build your own and we put together some burrata, roasted veggies, bread and this corn mix that lit up your mouth with flavour.

I'm dying to get back here. I can't rave about the place enough!

Cool little neighbourhood gem that is never empty, even when it's pouring with rain. Their cheese platters are a DIY delight and best shared with 2-3 people. We chose the Gorgonzola, asparagus with crispy pig and wild mushrooms. It also came with nduja and bread. A milder cheese like the burrata may have been a better match for the prosciutto (bacon?) bits on the asparagus. We also had the famous cacio e pepe, spaghetti served with plenty of Parmesan and black pepper stirred up in a giant cheese wheel at your table. The BDC slaw was a generous mix of kale, radish and fennel tossed in a refreshing red wine vinaigrette. It would be good to have the option to include a cheese for those who don't want a pasta for mains. If you arrive after 6.30pm, be prepared to wait around 40 mins. Service was friendly and efficient bit we found the space quite tight. Menu is also very limited; cheese and pasta are the heroes so if they don't appeal to you, best dine elsewhere.

After watching the viral videos on Facebook, we decided to visit the famous "Mozarella Bar". Expectations wernt high as we expected the theatre of the cheese wheel to outdo the food but boy I was wrong. The food was spectacular. Not too many options but the cheeses were hearty and sides were the perfect complement to them. The cacio e pipe (pasta made in cheese wheel) certainly lived up to the hype. Must visit!!

I didn't have babysitting yesterday so I called to see if it was worth it to drive the 30 mins in with a 2 year old, and despite the fact that they don't do reservations for groups under 6 they told me to come at 7 and I didn't have to wait. The service was impeccable - friendly and attentive. Ordered two pastas (including the cheese wheel), the salami plate and the burrata with broccolini and olives as my sides. Everything was delicious. The pastas were perfection - great flavours and textures and a ricotta-based gnocchi in red sauce that I am still thinking about the next day. The broccolini was perfectly cooked with an almost zesty flavour (I could have eaten three serves) and the salami was fantastic. Finished it off with a serve of tiramisu and now I can't wait to return and share this place with my friends - sans baby, of course.  I have never posted reviews for a restaurant before, but these guys deserve a shout out - Highly recommended!

An absolutely amazing experience that I would recommend to anyone. We were so impressed by the quality of the ingredients, the presentation of the food (of course the famous cheese wheel) and the excellent service. The cheese wheel perhaps makes the pasta a little cold and it was liberally peppered, but we enjoyed every part of our meal, particularly the Lowy cocktail, the cheese platter, and the ricotta gnocchi. Will definitely be back - thanks for such an exceptional meal!

My partner and I waited over an hour at Buffalo Dining Club on a cold windy night and it was worth the wait. Buffalo Dining Club met every expectation and beyond.
The entrees were perfectly portioned and great way to start - we got the cured meats, cheese and zucchini flowers.. But let's be serious were all going here for the cheese wheel - definitely worth the hype. That pasta so simple yet so tasty and the theatre of of the cheese wheel makes it even tastier.
Zomato create video posting option!!! I wish I could post the video of my pasta... I took some screen shots. MUST TRY!

The staff were full on hipster with slick hair and service to match. I have eaten at this restauraunt a few times and know they put out good Italian food. It can be hard to get a table, you just need to pick your times or you can just order take away. The cheese wheel pasta is a spectacle, with the wait staff flavouring freshly cooked pasta by tossing it in the cheese wheel while you wait. Cheesy pasta, can't go wrong. I have also tried the burrata, a light creamy cows milk cheese and combine this with the Jamon iberico, delicious. This time I ordered the pork and fennel sausage tuscan ragu with rigatoni pasta, with chilli on the side. The pasta was cooked aldentè, the pork fennel sausage had plenty of flavour with good spice. A cool hipster restaurant serving simple yet tasty Italian inspired cuisine at a good price.

What is there not to love about this place? Great service, atmosphere and even better food! We came here on the weekend and were told the wait was around an hour, but we luckily got a table earlier as we were here for two. We got the 'zucchini flower' which was TO DIE FOR, the buffalo ricotta gnocchi was a little too cheesy and strong for my liking but the sauce was delicious! The Cacio e pepe is a must-try and it is served from a giant cheese wheel.

Buffalo Dining Club has been trending on Instagram for a while now. We were most intrigued about the cheese wheel pasta (cacio e pepe). To avoid queue we managed to gather a group of 7 and make a booking. We had to get the set menu, which was a great choice as it allowed us to try almost...

Excellent cheese wheels! Fresh and tasty. Well worth the wait. Good service and nice wine.

Only very very small complaint would be the cold bowls.

Since opening in 2012, Buffalo Dining Club has remained a very popular local eatery in Darlinghurst. And when you visit this charming little restaurant for yourself, you find out why. This mozarella bar has a simplistic menu, showcasing their imported Italian mozzarella cheeses, three pasta dishes and wines. However one of their famous signature dishes is the cacio e pepe, a spaghetti served from a giant cheese wheel. That’s right – a giant cheese wheel!

I had been excited to eat at buffalo dining club for a solid 2 weeks. I was dreaming about cheese and endlessly talking about cheese every waking moment in the lead up; thankfully, it didn't disappoint.

The service to start with is phenomenal, if you don't know what to order, ask the staff, they will guide you in the perfect prosciutto and cheese direction. For a starter, don't look past the buffalo mozzarella and the Brussels sprouts and chorizo, it was literally what my dreams were mad of.

For mains, the gnocchi is out of this world. Without a doubt one of the best in Sydney. The infamous cheese wheel is great for theatrics but when it comes to taste, it did let me down. I'm not sure if I'm just uncultured, but I prefer my pasta to be hot, not cold. I think the cheese would have melted into my pasta better if the pasta was actually warm.

Aside from that, an incredible dining experience.

Buffalo Dining Club is one of our favourite restaurants in Sydney and one we return to time and time again and will happy drive 30kms to visit.

Buffalo is a small space in Darlinghurst that serves "more traditional" Italian food. We ALWAYS order the Burrata (that you can choose two sides with - options are always changing) which is a creamy mozzarella type cheese; the panfried Mortadella (that comes with a side of bread and refreshing fresh tomatoes; and the Cacio E' Pepe (pepper spaghetti that is served out of a giant wheel of Pecorino cheese).

The food here is seriously delicious. Quite simple in its style, but so full of flavour and perhaps the type of food eaten in homes across Italy.

Staff are friendly and happy to offer suggestions on the menu if you need it.

Note that you will not be seated until your whole party is with you, due to the popularity of the restaurant. I do think if they are busy you can leave your name at the door and they'll call you when a table is free.

One of my favourite restaurants in Sydney. The concept of having pasta served straight out of a cheese wheel is everything you want it to be and more. The entree choices of cheese and a couple of seasonal sides are a delicious way to start the meal and the pastas are served al dente. Definitely ask for their home made chili to go with your Cacio E Pepe!

Great food and great service! Food so simple but really flavoursome! The staff here are great - so friendly and attentive. My only issue was how to order. Loved how it was written on the wall but just needed to be separated a bit more.

Amazing place!!!! They have everything I love! Cured meat! Wine! Pasta! And cheese!!!! I haven't been to a lot of cheese bar, but this one just made me want to try more! The food is really nice! I love their sides too! Fried eggplant and chorizo are just delicious! I'm gonna take my friends there! And I believe they will love this place too! Here's a tip, go early on weekend night because they don't take booking for dinner. We went there around 6:30pm on Saturday night and got a table straight away!

The entrees at this place are second to none. Simple cured meats are anything but. The grilled mortadella was one of my favorite dishes ever. The drinks and wine list were simple and perfect.

I was told about this place long before COVID caused it's havoc, but I've only just been. It was genuinely great. The menu is quite small but there are specials. Quality food, very tasty. Nice decor, good ambience. The music was decent and the service was great. I will be back.

Update 2022 - as this place isn’t as popular as few years back with so many new pasta spots in town. But that’s a good thing - easier to make a booking even walk-in. And the food and service are still amazing. This is how you tell its a good restaurant. Great place with nice people. Great pasta and wine. Just few items on the menu tho.
