Stumbled across Capital Thai and what a wonderful experience. Ordered 3 dishes & steamed rice to share amongst 4. So much tasty yummy food. Will definitely return when next on the area.

What do you get when you cross Korean barbecue with Chinese hotpot? Meet mu kratha. It's a mash-up commonly found across Thailand, and guess what. You can get it in Sydney too. AND IT'S ALL-YOU-CAN-EAT. Yeah, baby. Get it at Capital Thai, the restaurant located next door to the Capitol Theatre. I bet you've walked past it a million times and never even realised. Sure they have a la carte options but head deeper into the dining room and you'll find the mu kratha buffet set-up. It's here you'll find groups of Thai uni students in the know. And now, you.
Buzzy and fun. Open & spacious. Great Thai food with superb service. Highly recommended Pad Thai and Pad Ma Mung prawns great spot for pre show food.b
Came here for the $30pp bbq/hotpot buffet. Love that we can cook food 2 ways - bbq or hotpot. The only negative would be the 90mins time limit which we found wasn't enough as you have to cook and eat the food and it makes the experience a bit rushed. But it was yummy and we enjoyed it.
Thai style BBQ
throw back time with good friends
sharing a space on the pan , those grilled meats mainly pork, chicken n beef.
the soup is delicious and also the sauce especially seafood one is my favorite, its burning your tongue 😋😝
Food was stellar, had lemon prawns that should be called chilli prawns, pork belly with beans - fabulous. Mussaman beef curry was equally tasty and meat so tender. Pad Thai had a lovely smokiness about it and huge prawns. Most enjoyable meal!
Wow! This place packed a punch. Friendly service and great food. As we left there was a queue to get in - on a Monday night! Food was spicy and full of flavour. The Tom Yum soup was a hit and the green curry and chilli basil were a great mix of heat and flavour.
Went there on Saturday evening for the Thai buffet hotpot(4ppl). I had to wait for an hour since the restaurant was packed.
The bad thing is that they do not have anyone to greet the customer when they come in. So I got confused for a while until I figured out that I should put my name on the booking notebook at the counter.
The food and service is great. My hotpot has the soup constantly refilled.
Really good food and service
Great express lunch menu if you only have an hour
They take group bookings
Its clean and fast
Tasty food! Id go back with a group
Just around the corner from my work at Sydney Central Capital Thai is a favourite of mine.
Service is fast without feeling hurried through & the food is great. My personal favourite is the beef mussaman curry served piping hot over a burner with their excellent rice & a roti - the huge melting slow cooked chunks of tender beef have to be seen to be believed (be hungry!)
My girlfriend and I came here for dinner last week. The Handmade Prawn Pancakes and the Crying Tiger were the highlights. I also recommend Coconut Rice with the dishes. The staff were extremely attentive and friendly throughout the night. We finished our dinner off nicely with a scoop of gelato from their gelato bar. This is an excellent venue- classy, delicious and with great atmosphere. Looking forward to dining here again soon.
Very good food and pleasant atmosphere that is fantastically convenient to the theatre but the staff have no idea what they are doing. We had dishes put in our table twice that were not ours but adjoining tables....and vice versa. Confusion reined!
Enjoying blood orange sorbet, to die for!!
Fast, fresh, super friendly service. Perfect pre theatre meal. Wasn’t a need to book for two walk ins. They were able to accomodate which was amazing.
Water a little pricy $10 a bottle so check drinks menu.
My favorite Thai hotpot buffet. Ranges of food option.
