Second time here and it does not disappoint. Loved the mixed tapas, different variety and super tasty ! Love the calamari and the meatballs. Got the seafood paella. So full of flavor and super moist. I personally love picking the crunchy end on the bottom of the pan. The staff are always friendly and ready to help with a smile, you always feel welcomed here. The sangria here is also one of the best I have ever had, can never ever stop at the one jug...or two...or three.....

Hubby and I have been coming here for many years on the occasional times we come to Sydney and have always thought it was amazing... Last night we took friends with us and they loved it as much as we do. The food is AMAZING the atmosphere is traditional and fun and the sangria is Yuuumo.. Totally recomend Casa Asturiana for traditional Spanish tapas food.

Had a few tapas to start very nice. The seafood soup was very generous for the price!! Also very nice to eat. The oven baked lamb fell off the bone and was very tasty. The Wine we ordered was very good then the flamenco dancing came out. Very entertaining!! We will be back for another date night :)

Had an absolutely great Sunday lunch of tapas that filled our table and ended with churros with THE BEST chocolate sauce! I'm Spanish and I honestly was so happy to have some real authentic Spanish food that was 5 Star all the way. Highly recommend you go say hi to Carlos and sit down and savour the flavours of Spain

What a gem it is in Chinatown. Yes this is not an Asian restaurant. It is a wonderful Spanish restaurant. Upon arrival, the wait staffs greeted us very quickly and got us sat down at a table and a bottle of chilled water arrived quickly with the menu (it was a warm humid day, that water is much needed!). We had a look at the menu and settled with a few dishes - Gazpacho, Tabla Mixta (board with olive, Jamon, Manchego cheese and bread), Fabada Asturiana (bean stew with chorizo and blood sausage), Casadillas, lemon sorbet and a white sangria. We couldn't ask for better food. The gazpacho is properly chilled, and the tangyness of it is just right. Tabla Mixta looks small but you know what, it will fill you up without that overeating feel. The bean stew is lovely. Very homey and just comforting. Dessert are spot on. That jug of white sangria is so nice. Oh I can drink that whole thing myself. Overall, highly recommend to give this place a try and yes think this will be my go-to every time I come to Sydney.

Went to this place as I just couldn’t eat any more asian food on my 4 day trip to Sydney. I am partly to blame as at the time of booking, I didn’t know that the hotel is in Chinatown.

Anyway, I asked for the Paella for 1 and a 0.5L of the red wine Sangria. The Paella for 1 is probably enough for 2 if you are not a big eater or if you are ordering something else as well. A good qty of chicken and chorizo with very flavourful perfectly cooked rice.

The Sangria was good for a freshly made one but will avoid it the next time. I usually make the Sangria at home 24 hours prior to serving it but most restaurants don’t seem to be doing that.

Excellent service. Will be back for the Paella.

Typical Spanish restaurant in the Sydney CBD that serves up some mean paella.

It's probably best to bring a few friends (or a very large stomach) so that you can share a variety of tapas/dishes.

Casa Asturiana is in an area that used to have quite a flourishing Spanish food range - in fact it was often referred to as the Spanish Quarter. There aren't as many places there now but this place has quietly continued on and on and on. We visit Spain regularly - it's one of our favourite places. The food of course it a major drawcard there so we have plenty to compare the local Spanish offerings. We saw croquetas de pollo - chicken croquettes - on the menu. While we usually have cod or cheese croquettes when doing all things Spanish - these turned out to be great. They were certainly longer than normal but the golden crumbed coating revealed a very tasty filling.

Went on a Monday night and there were surprisingly a lot of people. We ordered the seafood paella, the portion was large for two people with two prawns and a few mussels and clams. The rice was nicely flavoured. Service was nice too.

Very enthusiastic owner(?) of the restaurant. The Tapas generally serves 2, therefore having dinner with a big group here might have been a mistake, I reckon with a smaller group of max.4 would have been a more enjoyable experience. I love the Paella they have here, it is very aromatic and flavourful. food and drinks are all reasonably priced and the place gives a very exotic ambience. will come back again :)

Chicken soup was amazing. Ambiance was nice. Waitresses were really good. Just don't order the steak. Took 3 tries to make medium well. Chicken was fantastic.

Discovered this Northern Spanish restaurant when I had my first fine-dining dinner at the Tetsuya a few years ago. Arranged to have the first dinner for the New Year trip at Sydney. Needless to say, Spanish ham would be the a-must starter for the night, which was as goof as the ham that I had at the Alegria at Milton Brisbane. Hero of the night was the paella with lobster. It really took half an hour to prepare and the presentation was spectacular with heaps of seafood varieties. The red sangria was perfectly match with this course. Unfortunately, the Spanish coffee did not match my palate and the churrios was not the best that we had, which made the ending slightly disappointed

A wonderful rustic Spanish restaurant situated on Liverpool St besides other Spanish places on that same street. I was surprised there was a 2nd level as it looks small but it was very lovely and had a comfortable ambience. Despite “being not hungry”, we ordered tapas, paella as well as dessert! OH! and their homemade red sangria, beer and coffee XD

Casa Asturiana is a Spanish restaurant my family and I have enjoyed going to for many years.  It has good, down-to-earth Spanish food that is flavourful and unpretentious.  It is food that would be served in any bar in the city or 'pueblo' in Spain. I always, always order the Spanish Salad for the incredibly delicious sauce.  There have been many conversations had specualting over the ingredients with consensus being that it contains capsicum, olive oil and garlic.  The menu has a good range of tapas and on this evening as I was in a rush to make it to a movie on time, I only had one, which was the Patatas Bravas (Spicy Potatos).  The tapas servings are generous so was quite filling. There is plenty of room at the restaurant so no need to book ahead.  There are many times a group of us have dropped in and there's always been room even for a group.   For a Spanish restuarant, the menu is very vegan friendly with the following items available: Tapas Marinated Olives Grilled Mushrooms wit

It was cosy inside, kind of did make you feel like you were in spain. Our waitress was courteous and friendly and ultra sufficient. We were one of the first diners at 12pm but it didn't take long for more people to fill the restaurant.

Great experience. Went there with a group of 9 and had delicious tapas and sangria. Loved the ambiance, it felt very homey. Best dishes were the chorizo a la sidra and huevos a la flamenca. We ordered around 13 tapas and 2 jugs of sangria and we were very full and satisfied. The bill was about $23 each which I thought was fairly reasonable.

Loved it!. Went there with another couple and we absolutely loved it. I ordered the
Casa Marinara in the tomato sauce and it was divine. We ordered some spanish red wine, the popular one and it was beautiful. And i'm a very fussy person!
Staff was a little hit and miss, we had one really great waitress and one not so great.
Overall i would definitely recommend it.

Excellent Food. We wandered in to this restaurant on a Wednesday night and were very happy we did. I ordered the beans with sausage and my partner ordered the mussels and scallops. Both meals were excellent. The serves were of a good size. The service was very good, could not be faulted. We were early and as the evening wore on more and more people came in. The atmosphere was lovely, it made us want to go to Spain.

We visited for a friend’s birthday, and ordered shared tapas and seafood paella to share. Their price is very reasonable and the seafood taste fresh. Both their service and food are great. We really enjoyed the dinner.

Casa Asturiana is so impressive. But make a reservation for weekends! We stopped by on a busy Saturday and had absolutely no way to get in without reservation. So we made a reservation for the following night. So glad we went back! I’ve spent a lot of time in Spain, and the northern part in particular: this is the closest you can get to these specific recipes without actually being IN Spain. It’s really impressive how authentic they keep the recipes. They have some fixed menu options, but I built my own. I recommend: One tapas per person would be typical (but definitely share around), plus a paella and a litre of sangria.

This is a restaurant I always come back to. Their Seafood Soup is a great dish to warm up in this cold weather. Grilled Eggplant and Mushrooms are nice starters, and Grilled Baby Octopus is our go to from the Tapas section. Lamb Shoulder is such a beautiful dish, and I can't get over the sauce! Their Paellas are also huge and delicious!
