Sir And Mlady Dine Out

We’d been meaning to visit Blu Bar for ages but something or other always came up. Well we’ve now had our chance and it was worth the wait. What a great place! With views out over the Harbour Bridge, Opera House and the harbour from 36 floors up, it really is a stunning place. Although a Cosmopolitan wasn’t on their standard cocktails menu they were only too happy to make one if ordered. As it’s a favourite of Mlady’s she was keen to have this. It was in a champagne glass and was a tasty drop too.
Blu bar on 36 in Shangrila hotel. A bit disappointed with the view and few seat options near the windows. It is definitely a good place to see the harbour view but do recommend come in early and get a good seat.
Blu bar is a little gem I found in 36th floor of Shangri-la Hotel . This spot has great view of Harbour Bridge and Sydney Opera House. Cosy place to hang out for drinks. Reservation is a must!
Great place to hangout at night
Great view of Harbour Bridge
The bar is actually pretty small but the lounge is nice. You may need to wait for a while to get a window seat.
Service was good
If you're looking for a bar with a view, look no further than blu bar. It's a great place to get a few cocktails and take in the breathtaking views of Sydney harbour.
This place is all about the view. There really is no better place to take in the incredible Sydney Harbour view. It's a classy venue and the cocktails are fabulous. It's very pricey but the environment is what you're paying for. The food is ok but that's not why you go. There is enough choice on the menu to settle in for the night with cocktails and a bite to eat. But if you'd like something better eat first and go for cocktails. If recommend booking a table in advance but if you don't, you can sit at the bar and wait. The cocktails will still flow freely from there.
Amazing view with great high tea Buffet. Only available on weekends and bookings only. Free flow on cocktails and champagne and unlimited lunch with amazing desserts.
The high tea buffet is fantastic!
The cocktail, the view and the food
Overall It's a great experience to dine in this special location.
The sitting is also comfortable
Honestly the view from level 36 of the Shangri-la is stunning. Yes the bar gets very crowded on Friday and Saturday nights, but rightly so for those stunning unobstructed views of the harbour. The service here is really friendly and they serve everyone with wonderful gusto. You can really appreciate the details that go into making a great cocktail by watching them make your drinks for you. I loved my pomegranate and prossecco number, the citrus + gin cocktail was equally delicious. Definitely looking forward to coming back a little earlier to grab a better seat :)

Apologies for quality of photos below. Went to Blu Bar a little later in the evening and lighting was awful.
Anyway, it's impossible to miss Shangri- La from pretty much anywhere in the CBD. Blu Bar is situated on level 36 of this building and gives you the best view you can ask for- Harbour Bridge and Opera house in the one frame.
I was very impressed with the extensive menu and was also pleasantly surprised since I expected the drinks to be far more expensive than they were.
My only issue with this place was the service. The staff member who served us had a straight face the whole time and made it look like somebody had threatened him to be at work. A simple smile/ hello would have been highly appreciated.
We only went for a drink and we're blown away by the views!! Didn't know this existed, I love my heights so it was excellent. Drinks were nice and service is second to none. Great place to bring those visiting Sydney
Absolutely stunning. The view from this place over the city and harbour bridge is breathtaking.
We came here for cocktails and dessert. We were initially seated in the 'waiting tables' but after not long were moved to a lounge right next to the windows.
The toblerone cocktail is so, so, so good. And the deconstructed cheese cake is just astounding - texturally brilliant, and balanced to perfection - yum!
Enjoy vibrant views of the Vivid festival of light with a colourful cocktail at Blu Bar on 36. Savour a selection of six Veuve Cliquot- and Belvedere Vodka-based concoctions while delighting in uninterrupted views of the Sydney Harbour skyline. Relax and take in the beautiful projections on the Sydney Opera House
Beautiful venue to chill with friends. I was staying for the night at Shangri-La Sydney and managed to get together with my bestie.
As we had our drinks and snacks, we enjoyed the stunning view of Sydney Harbour. It was just surreal to be up here at Blue Bar with Sydneysiders. And when Vivid Festival of light kicked in at 6pm, all the cameras and iPhones in the bar was out. There were dozens of snaps in the first minute of the iconic Opera House!
We had to try the Vivid Cocktail, which matches the vibrant views of Vivid. A one of a kind, colourful cocktail creation by Blu Bar's world class mixologists. The fruity concoction, made from a selection of Veuve Cliquot and Belvedere Vodka, was just delicious. The most fun, has got to be the LED lit ice cubes in the cocktails. Just like Vivid :)

The place promised to be a one of its kind experience. We reached here after a demanding bridge climb. Since we didn't have reservation, we started off by sharing a table. The view is truly breathtaking; though one hoped it would have been open air - something like Asilo in Mumbai. They do try to make it up by having some really attractive staff!
The bar menu was amazing with some really tantalizing and unique cocktails. Even the purist amongst us ended up trying one. I would definitely recommend the coconut cocktail - this coming from someone who doesn't like coconut is a big deal!
The food menu is purely functional - another thing one wishes were more expansive. The burrata cheese was excellent though and a must try.
Overall, the experience was a bit average and less than stellar.
We arrived to Blu Bar at 4.20pm (20 mins after it opened) and luckily we got a seat next to the window overlooking the West side (not facing the bridge and opera house though). I found the wine list was very basic, however I understand it is a cocktail bar. The espresso martini and lychee martini were both delicious. Food, wasn't as good we found for the price it was. The staff were also a bit hit and miss, two ladies we had didn't seem very friendly, although a young gentleman named Sam always served us with a smile and was very friendly! Overall, we were amazed by the view and cocktails, but the food and wine we found pretty average! Will be back though 😊
These views are utterly unparalleled. There is simply no place I would rather be to watch the world go by and soak up the beauty of Sydney. A contemporary and sophisticated bar on Level 35 of the esteemed Shangri La hotel you want to arrive on opening to secure a spot by the window. Panoramic perfection. And nothing says opulence like a $10,000 cocktail on the menu topped with a diamond ring.
A perfect place for a night cap... especially if you are staying at the Shangri la.
Amazing cocktails, amazing service and amazing view. Really, what more could you ask for?
Be sure to either get there early or late or make a reservation otherwise you might be waiting a while for a seat!
Situated on the top of the Shangrila la hotel, this is the bar with the best view of Sydney Harbour that there is. A small bar to buy drinks from, you can stand around the bar or at a stool at the window. Or, you put you name down for a table in the next room. This we did and were seated at a table for two at the window with spectacular views of the Harbour Bridge and Opera House! What could be better!! Table service for drinks and they have an extensive range of cocktails, wines, beers, whiskey and other spirits.
I got the Yamazurakura which is gin, elderflower liquor, Aperol, lemon juice, grapefruit and egg white. I've always been put off by a cocktail with egg white, but no longer will be, as it makes a good foam! Winner of the worldwide shangrila la cocktail challenge and it was a delicious cocktail. I almost ordered the same one again but decided to try something different. I chose the La'Orange sour vodka, Aperol, orange bitters, orange, lemon juice and egg white in a large glass topped with a cherry. A tangy tasty drink that I also liked a lot. Top cocktails here. Hubby got the Whisky and a whiskey cocktail which he loved!
Look, they aren't cheap but it's totally worth it for date night or an anniversary - a true 5 star experience.

For my last night in Sydney, my friend took me to Blu Bar for sunset views and cocktails. We were there when it opened (must do!!) So we gpt a great spot by the window looking out to the north and west.
We each had a 'Burning Passion' which was really pretty and tasted like we ahould have been on a tropical beach, so good!!
The wait staff were knowledgeable about the menu and were constantly filling our water glasses.
The only disappointing thing about this place is that we waited ages for our drinks when the place wasnt that busy.
Awesome view. Posh little cocktail bar. Drinks are pricey but it can be expected in a fancy hotel with such a great view. Nice staff & my cocktail was very good
This place is fantastic. The view is amazing. The staff are courteous and discrete. I was extremely intoxicated and vomitted on the viewing window and they politely cleaned it.

How can you not love this place? ... Amazing.
Such a beautiful way to experience to experience & appreciate this beautiful scenery with some of the best cocktails in Sydney. Delicious cocktail menu... Best scenery in Sydney.
The first time I visited this bar a few years ago, one of our friends was refused entry because he was wearing trainers. They insisted him to change to black leather shoes. The policy and dressing code had "snobbish" written all over. The view of Sydney harbour is what attracts people here despite the enormous price tag yet average drinks. You are paying for the indisputably good view. The second time when I visited this bar, the bartender found out it was my friend's birthday, he made both of us a free cocktail. Cocktails and amazing harbour night view, it didn't get any better than that.
Great place for some cocktails and amazing Sydney harbour view. Loved the Italian Job and Nectar of the Orient. Pretty hard to get a spot by the window on Friday and Saturday nights especially when part of the bar is booked for private function. On a busy night, expect long wait till you're served but trust me, it's definitely worth the wait. Highly recommended for a drinks night out with your date.
Great view and delicious cocktails. This is definitely the spot to catch up with your bestie. You may have to wait to get a table but otherwise you can stand at the bar and chill out.
The view here is spectacular at sunset, but it's the Clockwork Old Fashioned that will make me return. Rosemary Old Fashioned also a suitable detour. Even on a Friday night, it wasn't difficult to snag a spot by the window at the main bar, and didn't have an overly long wait for sunset in the lounge. Get your camera ready. This place is special, and a hits the right note pre-date with someone special.
One of the best views of the Sydney Harbour can be seen from here. Can be busy at most times so if you get in early that shouldn't be an issue. The espresso martini is pretty dang good here. Staff were friendly when we went. A great place to take friends who are here on holidays to show them the beautiful scenery.
The views 😍😍😍
Make sure you get here right on 6 or before to get a decent seat by the window on the lounge to enjoy the most of the sweeping views of all of sydney
The space offers floor to ceiling / very high ceiling windows so the view is Sydney's best
They do a great cocktail, bring your wallet, you will want a few!!!
An awesome place with a great view. Its so relaxing. Drinks are good too. Reach here at 5 so you get a spot to enjoy the view and be there till sunset.
Came here for some quiet drinks. We were seated immediately with the best views in all of Sydney in a comfortable and dreamy atmosphere. What a romantic and classy place! Great drinks and beautiful establishment. What an unforgettable experience.
The best views can be seen from Blu Bar on 36 at the Shangri La, Sydney. Get there early at 5pm for a spectacular view of the Harbour Bridge or the Opera House. It's the beautiful backdrop for a romantic date or a nice girly catch up. You will see a mix of tourists and stylish people pandering around enjoying the view. Wow, look at that view! The staff are highly attentive and the cocktail list are sophisticated and delicious. The cocktail (below on the left) is the Apple and Dill Mule at $19. It's described as "The Moscow Mule was created when three salesmen trying to market their individual products combined their items to sell as a cocktail. We infuse 42 below Vodka with fresh dill and serve it with lime and ginger beer." The cocktail on the right was very fruity and tasty. Prices: $20 per cocktail Location: 176 Cumberland St, the Rocks, Sydney

The wine and beer list was a great menu to chose from but more importantly the view is amazing, especially at sunset. If you get a window seat, be sure to protect it, people tried to steal mine while I was ordering more wine!
Blu Bar on 36 was a nice place for an evening on Valentines, Miss K definitely enjoyed the sunset view. This bar is on level 36 of the Shangri-La Hotel right next to the Altitude restaurant. It has views of the harbour and a perfect view of the sunset, we had a great time just relaxing and trying out a few cocktails The menu is extensive and even includes a $10000 diamond cocktail, I wonder if that’s been ordered before… Since we didn’t really eat anything aside from the salt and pepper prawns above I’ll keep this one fairly short! That being said the prawns were DELICIOUS, obviously overpriced as it’s bar food but good choice regardless. Paradise – lychee and pomegranate liqueur with Martini I went for the Paradise Cocktail which was quite interesting (and pretty strong). Kind of loved staring at the bubbles which seemed to never end, even after 15 minutes of sitting on the table! Chilled English breakfast tea, white peaches, cranberry juice Miss K had an interesting Mocktail since sh
The cocktails were amazing and the view was even better.
Divine!!. Wow.... want a room with a view? this is where you get it. Although its a first come first serve basis, it is 100% worth the wait. Stunning views (especially at twilight), delicious cocktails and incredible service from the staff. This is a must.
*BAR REVIEW*. Let it be known this a review of their bar
WOW WOW WOW, VIEW VIEW VIEW, ATMOSPHERE, SERVICE, QUALITY
it may seem like an expensive place, but choose the right options and you can do this amazing locations on somewhat of a budget, Beers start at 7 and a cheese platter which is quite comprehensive was approx $23 and was very close to worth it, the view most definitely makes up for it. high ceilings and floor to ceiling windows to match means views all around, dont have a seat by the window, no worries! bad weather!? no worries, very comfortable setting, smart casual dress
one of the very few places ive returned too
a must for everyone who appreciates sydney
a must for everyone period!
Amazing cocktail list...combined with the most stunning view in Australia, Sydney Opera house and Harbour Bridge! The bartenders are precisely created to make the remarkable cocktails that can blow your mind... delicious 5 star food can bring your taste to the next level as well, and all of this is on reasonable prices too. My partner and I were guest at the hotel and having the chance to enjoy the bar was one of our tops in the to-do list.
Lovely bar with great views! Extensive wine list, beer and spirits. Signature cocktail selection, and all the usual cocktails available (but not on the menu). We sat on a comfortable sofa, but there were plenty of window seats free.
Hands down one of the best views in Sydney. Great cocktail and wine list and very attentive staff. Our guy was new so extremely attentive, but he was nice.
One of the best views in Sydney! They had a broad array of spirits, wine and cocktails on offer. My partner and I particularly enjoyed the taste of '36 levels above' and 'G.O.A.T' (cocktails). The staff at Blu Bar were also very accommodating and attentive.
