The staff are very friendly, and I applaud them for being so efficient in such a small & busy space! Do not know how they do it! Atmosphere is lovely & food is delicious.

Met Xihuahua đŸ¶ there for a quick lunch. The food was pretty good but very pricy for what they are! Be careful with their omelette, I suspect the cheese in there makes it very salty and the menu does not say so! Very busy all the time somehow.đŸ„ș

This cafe was introduced by a old good friend in the past. It’s a really a good place to get small chat or read book alone.

The chat latte is ok here and aromas of the food is fantastic.

Service is friendly and atmosphere is great. You can see a lot of senior people having brunch or coffee here. It might be a really old cafe with long history.

I have introduced this cafe to many friends of me and they all say great.

Isn’t it relaxing to be surrounded by books while sipping on a good cup of joe? You just leaf through your book of choice and get lost in whatever adventure it holds. And what makes that experience enthralling is when you have a good coffee on your side with a couple of snacks. At this Dymocks Cafe, that is very possible. 🙂

Wow, I've been coming to Dymocks to buy books here for years, I've noticed the cafe but I've always had other favourite cafes in the city to go too. But, today I tried the café out with my family. Oh what a pleasant surprise. The service was really good, coffee was great, which is a must for me. the booth was ideal. The menu is terrific I ordered the salmon cottage cheese avocado crepes with a salad.

Tell you the truth this cafe certainly ticks all the boxes so yes I will be returning. I always come to dymocks and leave with a book. So now, I know a great place to eat. Well done dymocks.

There are lots of great eats in the city and sometimes it's hard to choose. Cue a hungry me, tired from running around all day and enticed by the big *sale* sign outside of Dymocks. What can I say, I'm a sucker for book and a suck for sales. As I stepped in, I can't help but be distracted by the smell of food wafting from ... somewhere. A quick look around reveals a cafe. I mean when I go to a bookstore I kind of expect a nice clean paper smell or some soothing scents, not the hunger inducing smells of meat and coffee.
Pro: there's a cafe INSIDE the bookstore
Con: there's a cafe INSIDE the bookstore.

Onto the food! I ordered a strawberry milkshake and it arrived looking positively pastel pink and tasting delightfully synthetic. Like the strawberry part of a neopolitan ice-cream but as a smooth liquid. Absolutely fabulous, I'm getting major childhood vibes here. I suspect it's not too good re: sugar/chemical/fat stats but eh it's a cheap day. At $5.5, it certainly is better than a soda and only a dollar more. Considering I've seen soft drinks at Sydney Cafes go for over $7, I'd say this is a milkshake on the more budget-friendly spectrum and will totally shut your unruly child (or teen or S.O) up for a good amount of time.

I *was* going to order the Duck Ragout because mmmm duck

Upstairs in the dymocks building is the perfect city lunch escape. This cafe is popular but if you get there early you can snag yourself a booth and sit back with one of the books you have just bought. A great place to go solo! The menu has something for everyone and plenty of healthy options with salads, sandwiches and more filling dishes such as lasagne, chicken schnitzel or even nachos. The menu has simple options however they are somehow exactly what you feel like. The coffee is also above average. Highly recommend this cafe if you are looking for a break from the city rush.

I've had lunch here a couple of times. I quite like the setting within the bookshop environment and providing quite a cosy or more old-style setting for a café. The dining space is quite private and quiet which is also another advantage.

I've tried the beef pot pie and also the chicken lasagne and they were both good but a little pricy, the coffee was also quite good. The salad was also fresh. Service has been friendly from the staff from foreign European countries.

There is complimentary wi-fi internet which is quite fast. Despite being located in the city environment, there wasn't a rushed feeling to the café and that was also appreciated.

I was really surprised by this cafe. I thought food was going to be just so-so, but it was actually really yummy. Ordered an avocado toast with tomato and a few other veggies and it turned up to be delicious! Will be back when I feel like a bite while reading a book! Only problem is the ventilation is not good and the whole place smells quite strong!

Old school. This is an old fashioned cafe, I could almost say cafeteria. The food is very middle of the road but if that's what you're in the mood for, you would be hard pressed to do better.

Nice, Cozy, Quiet and quick service. Food is good value for money. Enjoyed several Sunday lunches and quiet Saturday afternoons. Would definitely recommend soup of the day and lamb pilaf. Staff are friendly and courteous.

Dymocks Cafe is the perfect pit stop for breakfast, lunch or afternoon tea when in the city with little ones. Pick a booth and enjoy gourmet food and old world charm.

The origins of the iconic Dymocks Building dates back to 1879 when young William Dymock opened a bookstore in nearby Market Street. The Dymocks Family then bought the site of the current building and created the art deco masterpiece that stands today. Dymocks Cafe is situated in the atrium with views of the ground floor. The old style booths are perfect for families and keeping little ones contained. The menu is surprisingly gourmet and the service friendly and efficient.

This cafe is such a gem find in the middle of Sydney CBD!! Nicely located upstairs from the beautiful Dymocks bookshop building, this cafe is a cozy, warm and lovely place for some food or simply just a coffee and scones! Great variety on the menu, fair prices, good portions and coffee was great, too. Definitely will be coming back to try other plates!!

Absolutely must visit place, great service, food and atmosphere surrounded by books. It reminded me the cafe in Russian St. Petersburg and I love it. Kids loved food too. Thank you for great service.

Dymocks Cafe has been around for over 20 years but still serves what is perhaps the tastiest iced chocolate and coffee in Sydney. It’s the perfect place to get away for some peace and quiet from the bustle of George St.

I like this place because it is out of the way. A perfect location to spend a couple of hours catching up with someone. And also, a bookshop. Very OG and quaint. The food is great, although pricey. You're paying for location. Service is friendly and understated. Access is tough for differently abled as the tables and booths are squeezed in around the mezzanine. I imagine there's an elevator, although I commonly use the escalator. I'm sure the staff would accommodate. The scones are lovely, with a decently large serving of two, and on the affordable eats of the menu. Definitely come and while away the afternoon here
