Love this place great food, best seafood platter ..great ambiance, cant wait to go back ...
My wife and I had a 3 coarse meal gifted by our daughter Alice, food was fantastic staff and service excellent. All cooked and prepared by a great chef or chefs...Thank you for a great night ps try the lemon meringue.
What a great place, Food was to die for, Location on the waterfront was perfect and the service was just Perfect. Many thanks to the waitress for looking after the Birthday BOY...
Wonderful venue, excellent staff and service. Food is delicious and well presented, every dish fresh. We had seafood starters, mains consisted of Barramundi and Pork Fillet. Desserts; lemon tart and chocolate pannacotta. A nice leisurely lunch over looking the Parramatta River. Well worth the visit.
Once again the service and food is second to none. The staff are all fantastic as is the food, wine and view. Top notch service.
Honestly a top 5 meal of ALL TIME...would have been number 1 if my wife were with me...I have eaten at restaurants all over the world and NOTHING beats Vela! I wish I could attach pictures of my 4 course meal to this review...it would make your mouth water, your voice hollar...and worth EVERY dollar!
The casual outdoor bar is lovely. Enjoyed a seafood plate for 2. Hot and cold fresh and tasty seafood. And A lovely bottle of wine. Enjoyed while watching the boats go by.
Bastille day lunch yesterday...Service was so relaxed and efficient you couldnt help but relax...food was 10/10 and the way they managed to transform one of the best rest.locations in Sydney into Paris for an afternoon was magical. We will all be back! Thanks to all the staff for making a group of 9s afternoon so enjoyable.

What an amazing place , great food , great service. Loved it . Thank you guys .
Such a peaceful and relaxing place to have lunch!! The food was absolutely delicious and the service was so friendly and amazing!
Great service as always; meals superb, desserts stupendous; can highly recommend and just a short trip up the river!
Great location, we came here to celebrate my girlfriend’s birthday and the food was very good. The steak was delicious and pork was cooked just right. We had the scallop entree which was really tasty. The staff even sang happy birthday! What a great surprise. Altho the food did take quite long to come out after the entree, I think it must of took about 45mins before our mains came out.
When the sun’s out and the weather is warm, there’s nothing better than waterside dining in Sydney with a group of friends. Vela at Cabarita was just the spot to relax with a glass of pinot grigio, great food and good company. There’s nothing particularly exceptional about the dining room itself, but the views are superb and you feel like you’re actually on the water. Service was super friendly and the food was great; the rosemary and parmesan polenta chips with gorgonzola sauce was exceptional, as was the crispy skinned barramundi with hazelnuts and citrus butter.
We’ve been to Vela recently for both breakfast & dinner. Firstly, the breakfast experience:
Vela takes out the prize for the Inner West’s most expensive coffee and tea: $6.90 (!!) for a small pot of tea. Large coffees also cost $6.90. That is a ridiculous price to pay. The food was fine (nothing amazing) but we waited 50 minutes for it to arrive which was a bit surprising given we were the only table in the restaurant. Not sure if the kitchen was also servicing the outside area? Even so, it was quite a long wait. Service was fine and helpful.
The best thing about the breakfast visit was the setting. The restaurant has a lovely water outlook and you almost feel like you’re sitting on a boat while you dine. We wouldn’t go back for breakfast though as you can get better food at other local cafes (recommend ‘Dazed’ in Mortlake), and the steep cost of coffee feels like highway robbery.
Dinner was a much better experience. Again, atmosphere is lovely - especially on a warm summer’s night. We ordered the slow cooked lamb to share. It was delicious and was a very generous serving. We couldn’t finish it. It also came with lots of roast vegetables. We had the passion fruit soufflé for dessert - yummy. The other dishes coming out of the kitchen also looked very good.
Service was friendly but at times felt a bit too familiar. Calling customers “darl” or “love” etc seems to jar a bit with the higher end pricing of the food, and the more sophisticated atmosphere of the restaurant.
So in a nutshell, dinner exceeded my expectations. The menu was very appealing and what we ordered was delicious. Unfortunately they’ve lost us as customers for breakfast.
This place is really fancy. The food is really expensive but it’s nice. I had never liked oysters but the kilpatrick changed me. Also my lamb was really good.
We had dinner a Vela Cabarita and truely there was little to praise from the experience. The good stuff first, the staff try their best and are personable. Everything else was bad bad bad from there on. The restaurant is run by a catering company "Sparkling Catering". This is proof that a caterer cannot deliver fine dining. The only comparison between what was delivered and fine dining was the price. A more accurate comparison of the food would would be to compare what was delivered to oversized poor quality airline food, it came cold and had little flavour. We spend 60 minutes from seating to clearing the table at a cost of $160. Will will not spend another cent at this venue, regardless of the location or best attempts of the service staff.
I don't know if my first review published, I can see some of the photo's but can't find my review, so I'll write this one briefly. Had the best lunch here last weekend. The food was excellent and the service by Anna was the best. Will definitely return. Although I was on a Cudo voucher, which was worth every cent, I added a few extra's to make it the ideal dining experience. Loved the water views and can't wait to sample more from the menu.
I had lunch at Vela dining restaurant. Wonderful views but food average.
Lovely day for lunch and lovely views. However food average and $40 for a dozen oysters expensive. My biggest gripe was the price of wine, no BYO allowed. Far too high, particularly as it also was the same price for the 2 casual outside restaurants.
I won't pay $45 for a bottle of wine if I choose to sit outside to enjoy a casual meal.
The other big complaint was that there is only 1 ladies, and 1 men's toilet. I would have thought that as this facility catered to all 3 venues it was unacceptable.
This is a very nice venue but I won't be rushing to go back.
440 for a dozen oyster
Must try the Banoffee Tart!!!. Had lunch at this place over Winter recently and found it quite an enjoyable experience. Whilst there was super icy cold wind blowing outside, the restaurant was very warm and cosy inside. Views on a sunny day were spectacular. There was a good range of interesting food on the menu. The duck I loved - it was perfectly cooked and tasted delicious. Mains we found to be quite generous in portion and delicious - I had the fish and out came a whole fish to consume! The highlight of the day though, was the Banoffee tart - it was just unbelieveably delicious such that both of us were literally licking the plate clean!! Will be back soon!
Brilliant night. Came here with my extended family for a special night and then had to come back! Amazing food that is well worth the price, great cocktails and welcoming staff. Couldn't recommend it more!
Another great Friday night dinner put together by Errol and his team...we put ourselves in his hands and he ever fails to surprise.
