Had drinks and dinner here with some workmates. Located just off Pitt Street in the city, we managed to reserve a table upstairs. It’s definitely a rough and ready sort of pub but upstairs seems less hectic than downstairs.
We all squashed around our table and it was pumping on the Friday evening but it had a nice atmosphere but definitely gets loud. Order up at the bar for drinks and food. With drinks flowing, we decided it was time for a bite to eat. As the table didn’t all arrive at the same time we ordered at different times which was fine as they brought out the meals once you had ordered and paid for at the bar.
I had the Chicken Parmigiana which was served with chips and cabbage slaw. It was quite tasty and a large serving. Nice crunch to the chicken. Another got the Beer Battered Fish And Chips. They enjoyed it thoroughly. All was crunchy and delicious especially the potato scallop they pointed out was especially. Someone else ordered a serving to share and looked great. The 250g Grain Fed Rump was very good value.
My favourite pub in the CBD. Good selection of beers on tap. Nice little terrace upstairs. Wooden bar and mosaic tile floors downstairs and an awesome Art Deco lounge upstairs.
Had dinner there tonight. Good steak well cooked to my liking at med rare. Good service all round for pub food well done. The price was ok to
Like the chips and good crisp green.beans.
Love to visit once in a while to have some beers and play pool. Love that has terrace for smokers.
Food was average. But i love the atmosphere.
Oh wow this place was a bit of a surprise. I had been here before but thought nothing of it, however upstairs is a whole different story!
It was pretty quiet for a Friday but we were just after some cocktails, which led us upstairs because that’s where they make them. A very fun space with nice décor throughout, totally different vibe to downstairs. They also have a closed off smoking room which had pretty lights and was packed full.
Definitely don’t mind going back now, knowing what they have on offer.
Amazing staff, old school English feel pub! Great burgers, steaks and believe it or not but the corn on the cob is to die for! Outdoor upstairs smoking are and gaming area. Craft beer , cocktails Aussie
Wine list. What more could you want!! Great vibe!
Great pub to hang our with friends and to have some drinks after work, highly recommend ! I ordered a rump steak and it was perfect ! Staff is very friendly and the atmosphere is great, will come there again and again!
Simple yet scrumptious food and brilliant ambiance. Great for drinks after work (especially on a Friday) or just to take the fam out to dinner. Great city pub.

Located close to Hyde Park and close to the inner CBD this old pub was recently renovated. The upper level have been redesigned to meet the classic look of the olden day but still modern trends.

Went here on a Friday night for drinks after work. There is a nice chill atmosphere upstairs and the drinks are reasonably priced. The service is also really friendly and efficient
Definitely more of a old pub vibe downstairs, which is good, apart from the mandatory TAB betting corner. There's original tile work on the floor, bar and some old Tooth's mirrored cabinets behind the bar. Nice! Down here on the ground floor you can pop a few dollars in the video-juke, pick your favourite Farnsie track and head on over to Big Buck and shoot the arvo away. Or just pull up at the window and watch the suits scatter about like ants on the Pitt-Bathurst intersection. You also have access to a pool table, a couch and basement betting cave bonanza (tea & coffee facilities available here for the long haul). There are many ways fun can be had in Ed's Castle!
A good pub in central Sydney. As a West Aussie I was pleasantly surprised at the price of a large pot of beer in a nice upstairs lounge bar, only $5.60!!. Decided to stay for a meal and four of us had very good, reasonably priced pub meal. Downstairs bar was a bit noisy and they were smoking in the roof top beer garden. Recommend the upstairs lounge bar, top spot for a quite beer and meal.
Pleasant Surprise. Dropped in here for lunch for what turned out to be a pleasant surprise. Had the pork ribs with plum sauce which was ripping tender, flavoursome and cheap. Others had the beef pie and the Eddy burger and no complaints there either. Great value, good tastes and $5 Fat yak. Good deal all around.
This place was great!!! For the genre of pub food it was exceptional!!! Do yourself a favor I had the leek and chicken pie me friend had one of the salads. Great food. However service was very rude and clientele are backpackers mostly. So no ambience and crap service but excellent quality food at a very competitive price.
Friendly staff, great food and good atmosphere :) all round winner for a cheap (but decent) pub meal and a beer.
Nice pub grub!. We're suckers for pub grub so it was a surprise that it was really decent! nice upstairs area with a good ranged menu. chicken salad was huge and a little salty (dressing) but apart from that, really nice. parma was perfect and so was their LLB. decent sizes!
Great on a Fri afternoon after work, live band is great and atmosphere is packed but fun! Best of all, no teenagers!
