Came with a friend to chill at noon so it was quite full but fortunately, there was a table available at the back. The cafe had a nice ambience from the natural lighting and various plants scattered around. My friend and I were trying to figure out what plant that was hanging near our table was as we really liked it haha.
Our server was very nice and friendly when taking our orders. Coffee and food came out quite fast, within 10-15 minutes. I ordered a flat white and the Avocado and Heirloom Tomato Bruschetta. The coffee was lovely and the bruschetta was refreshing and filling. I didn't manage to take a photo of the bruschetta when it arrived as I was really hungry but my friend did take a photo of me eating it so there you go haha.
It was easy to get to from Redfern station which I appreciate, as some cafes can be difficult to find. Would come back again if I'm in the area.
Solid 5/5. I walk pass by this cafe every morning on my way to uni and it is always crowded so one day I decided to give it a shot. And I was definitely not disappointed as it ended up to be the best cafe around uni.
I’ve tried many dishes from Tripod and all of them turn out to be amazing I taste and generous in portions. This pic here is the classic avo&heirloom tomato. It is superb. Also their burgers and big breakfast are worth a try.
I came here today again but was a little late for the breakfast menu so I just ordered a plain chicken salad and it is such a surprise! I don’t even know how one could make a simple chicken salad this delicious. Not to mention their MUFFIN, it is devine. I can’t get enough of it. I had the strawberry and raspberry muffin today and I’d love to try out every other flavour.
Recommended and definitely will come again.
Someone missed out Guorium🧪
😋😝
good at presenting and friendly service. 🤗
Plentiful food 🥘 and healthy
Fresh ingredients and fast 💨 service
🤔🙄
Eggs Benedict
The base is made of quinoa, although it’s healthy but its kinda loose and the texture is harsh. Personally still prefer the traditional bread.
Besides, expecting plentiful hollandaise sauces but Where is my hollandaise!!!! Haha 😆
Can tell that the local folks believe in this cafe as they are busy all the time and it was one of the stores I had been always craving for when I saw its brisk business.
Great cafe, excellent coffee and food. Homemade muffins are superb (a note to the owners though, for hygiene reasons you need to cover the muffins on the counter as transactions occur right over them). I also recommend ordering before sitting as table service is slow particularly in the mornings.
I usually grab a coffee and a muffin from Tripod on the way to uni, but I’ve only recently decided to dine in. I don’t know why it’s taken me so long!

Service:
We were immediately seated and food was served in only about 10 minutes.
Food:
I ordered the avocado & heirloom tomato bruschetta. It had some pomegranate & feta as well. It was so delicious! They also have excellent muffins—I loved literally every one I’ve tried.
Location:
It’s very close to Redfern station. So if you’re ever looking to brunch, you should drop by Tripod.

Underrated cafe. You should definitely check it out!
The best muffins ever. Great flavours, home made style and cool vibe. Could do with done savoury ones, but this place is my new go to cafe after moving out of the cbd.
Tripod is infamous for their huge portions. I have a huge appetite and I still struggle when eating here. Wastage is a huge issue for others who don't eat as much. The price is in line with the portions, so it really makes me hope that they do smaller portions and lower the price, or even do half serves. Don't need a food coma at 8am.
Simple but well-executed, the creamy herb-laden avocado, the salty-sweet combination of feta and pomegranate, and the fresh salad of cresses and fennel came together to form a beautifully summery bunch. I loved that although it tasted wholesome and healthy, it still felt like a treat.

Visited Tripod on a Saturday lunchtime. It wasn't crowded and we found a table easily in the outside courtyard.
The coffee was great and the food delicious and excellent value - they were very generous with the bacon on the potato rosti stack! A great weekend brunch spot.
If you're ever in Redfern and you're not sure where to go, check out Tripod, it's got great vibes, great food, and awesome coffee to wrap your lips around.
Recommendations: black coffee, and the fritters!
Came here last friday with a friend and we really enjoyed the food. It was quite unfortunate that we could not get the breakfast/ brunch menu as we intended, but we enjoyed our lunch menu. We are definitely ready to come back again for the breakfast menu!!!!!
This is a great little spot for dinner. It has a lovely neighbourhood vibe that is so much more pleasant than eating in one of the busy restaurants on the main streets of Newtown or Surry Hills. I've eaten here a number of times and the service and food has been consistently good. Great vegetarian options! My favourites are the polenta chips, aranchini and braised eggplant. Please bring back the mushroom kofta! It was a taste sensation - but it was taken off the menu on my most recent visit. This place also has a well chosen drinks menu. I particularly like the craft beer options. This is worth mentioning because many places get this wrong.
Very rustic and vintage cafe that is super close to USYD. I always walk past it and wanted to try the food there. I ordered the pesto eggs and that was very filling. I added avocado for $5. Coffee is also decently priced- wish they had almond milk though!
Love this cafe! I think I come here at least one a week before uni for breakfast. Staff are friendly, food is reasonably priced and portioned, coffee is excellent and food is super filling and delicious...My personal favourites are the fritters and the pesto scrambled eggs. Also the fried tofu burger is amazing 😋
This is a great cafe and they do excellent coffee, something that needs to be praised in Sydney (sorry 'bout it). The menu is a nice mix of your standards with some twists. Everything is fresh and flavoursome. I'm a fan!
This is the first branch I have in Sydney, and this is a really unforgettable experience. The smooth here is really great and I love it very much, the waitress is friendly to help me order and it is really yummy
Tripod has always been my favourite cafe around uni and an excellent spot for lunch and a coffee - best coffee near Sydney Uni! Their new after dark menu is absolutely delicious with a big range of affordable and delicious food. Wonderful staff and baristas who are really passionate about their food and coffee. We had the arancini (amazing and huge), the mushroom kofte, roopanada (yum!), pumpkin and beetroot. Everything was delicious with heaps of vegetarian options as well. It's fast becoming my go-to spot for a night out :)
Tripod became something of a guilty pleasure on the way to or from university. I've had the pancake stack from here, multiple coffee's, their insanely incredible bacon and egg roll, and muffins from Tripod too. I love the coffee, I love their breakfasts and I love their muffins too. For 10 bucks the coffee and bacon and egg roll is actually so worth it. Two people could easily eat that roll and fill up, because it's on a large bun, with loads of bacon, loads of egg, tomato relish and spinach as well. I have to say that though from outside the furniture isn't always 100% appealing, but it is such a warm and wonderful place. I love their friendly service, and the fact that there are always fresh muffins (left right in their trays) makes it even better. In the mornings this place is always bustling with uni students, and later on I find plenty of people that live in the area grabbing a tasty bite, which I just love - they cater to everyone.
Great food with great service! I ordered zucchini corn fritter and tripod big breakfast, the food was very tasty and wonderful. Will try other food here next time
This is one of those places that somehow charms and befuddles at the same time. Its lovely interior and garden setting out back are inviting, the coffee totally on point and a varied menu with enough staples and excursions from the 'norm' makes sure there's something to suit everyone. However, you can't modify items and extras are $5 a whack. Luckily for us, a friendly waiter eventually let us order big breakfast sans meat. The service as a whole was some kind of uber cool vibe of eventually helpful without being actually friendly. It clearly caters well to the student-age clientele but a lack of high chairs marks it down for families. That being said, when the food arrived, it was superb - the little extras in the garnish were a win and the baked beans a superb spicy surprise. Definitely recommended for top notch nosh in a relaxed kind of place.
I went there on a whim based on nearby recommendations in Zomato and that was one of the best recommendation I've ever tried.
I ordered Crispy Chicken Burger and it was one of the best cooked chicken and burger I've ever had in Sydney. The sauce was on point and the portion was hearty and fullfilling. The common mistake with burgers is the disproportionate bun to patty size ratio, but that was not the case with Tripod. Not to mention the friendly and helpful staff. Defo will come back for more.
Darlington has so many cafes and since Tripod's rating was so good so we decided to visit this rugged looking cafe. We arrived during mad breakfast rush and no place to sit. The seats at the back of the shop were mostly wet due to the rain.
When we finally sat down, we ordered jumbo large mocha. When the mocha came, it was served in take away cup. My wife jokingly mentioned they might not have jumbo size cups in stock.
We were disappointed as we were told they no longer serving vegetarian big breakfast. That was the key attraction for us in the 1st place. We waited quite awhile for our breakfast to be served. For the price that we paid, we expected to see some command items in big breakfast as the other cafes we frequented will serve haloumi cheese and avocado.
The service was overall friendly except when we oversee an elderly couple being left standing after denying to sit at a 4 person table. It was quiet period and not much patrons left then. After a long while, the couple asked the waiter again, only then they were allowed to sit at the table. The waiter did not even attempted to find them another table after denying them the table.
Had to sign up to Zomato just to say how much I loved this place today. Despite being ultra busy the staff managed to be really friendly and efficient, the b&e roll was awesome, and I had probably one of the best coffees of my life. Huge cafe - thanks guys! 10/10 will be back again
My partner and I seriously love this cafe! Coffee is on point, great vibes and the food is delish (especially their freshly baked muffins and B&E roll). The staff are also friendly, attentive, easy going (no arrogant attitudes in sight!). Zach remembers our names and coffee orders every time, love it.
Love this place, it's such a nice place for breakfast or lunch, open every day of the week. It's always busy and that's for a reason - the coffee is always spot on amazing, the food is great, delicious and a good amount for the price. And the staff are super friendly! Definitely a must.

I have to say this place is the most underrated cafe I have ever walked into in my life.
Very rustic and outdated decor, it's the last place you would think to find an amazing feed. Doesn't hurt that the staff are awesome also.
I'll be back !
Really good place, it near the Uni, I went there at least once a time every week. Sometimes three times a week!!the food is really nice and the price is reasonable!!!!So the students are able to afford it! I recommend the crispy chicken burger with lemonade, big breakie, egg Benedict and muffin!!!!!!!the staff are all younger people and with passion! I love this place!
Love the coffee here, I happened across the cafe after an event at the nearby USYD engineering faculty while heading to Redfern station. The coffee here is quite good and so are the brunch dishes, the servings are good for what you pay for and seems to be popular with students.
It's on the way from refern station to Sydney uni. I always pop in for a coffee and sometimes lunch. The staffs are very friendly and the food is absolutely delicious with great value, and also best coffee around the campus. Btw, they offer free Wi-Fi, it's good for studying upstairs when uni's library is busy.
Tripod is one of a stretch of cafes that line Abercrombie St and is usually filled with locals having lazy lunches and a steady stream of uni students picking up their daily dose of caffeine. Upon first glance, Tripod seems to be really small, offering only 20 seats on a sunny day but once you step inside, there’s also courtyard in the back and two rooms upstairs.
Tripod is a casual little cafe on Abercrombie Street. I've had lunch here quite a few times, and also stop in occasional for a coffee on the way to the office. They always have fresh, homemade muffins loitering on the counter, just tempting me to buy one. This is the type of muffin I really want to know how to bake at home.
Best brekky in Darlington. Great service, fantastic coffee & really friendly staff.
Perfect mix on the menu to choose from & interesting twists on classic dishes.
Eggs Benedict with quinoa cakes are fantastic & pancakes super tasty.
Great coffee, very nice food
Lovely little cafe, friendly staff. I ordered the French toast and a cappuccino. Beautiful presentation, nice light flavour. I'll definitely be back :)
The Loveliest Cafe!. For all you vegetarians out there... AMAZING lasagne & curried lentil burgers!
Also a great place to grab coffee & a delicious freshly baked muffin in the morning on the way to uni!
My saturday delight. This is my weekend cafe, the coffee is consistently good, the food is delicious and servings are large.
My regular: the eggs bene on quinoa cakes with crispy bacon and the freshly made muffins are delicious
Relaxed and friendly staff- not a pretentious cafe cashing in on current trends just a solid quality cafe with something for everyone and a very relaxing start to the weekend
Consistently great coffee and Great service! The big breakfast is the best around!!
Love this place - staff are super nice and friendly, food's delicious and reasonably priced, and there's quite a bit of variety for such a small place. Always check the daily specials as they're usually pretty good.
Cute little cafe, with friendly staff who know the menu well. Tasty well presented food that doesn't burn a whole in your pocket! Great coffee I must say!
The best muesli ever!! Charming cute little cafe, friendly prompt service. Not expensive, what's not to like?
Busy cafe serving generous portions of food. Really nice coffees too.
Cafe is housed in a two storey tucked in near Redfern station.
We ordered he fritters and halmoui/ quinoa cakes.
Fritters were delicious, quinoa cakes were bland.
Recommended and Will visit again.
Amazing food and portion size. Great coffee and service, good vibes, reasonable prices. A+ will eat breakfast here again.
Burger and battered chips are must try items. Great vibe and friendly staff, good service. It is busy in the morning and lunch. They open for dinner now too.
Buzzing and overflowing with locals, this cafe is a great little find on Abercrombie street. Overwhelming selection of giant muffins or choose from the contemporary Australian menu that offers dishes with distinct exotic appeal. OR sit outside and enjoy all of the Dogs 😍🐶
Fantastic coffee and a really cool menu in the heart of Redfern.
The quinoa eggs benny was a fun take on the classic, with a quinoa 'patty' instead of english muffin. Top that with some sauteed kale and a few other bits and pieces, it did seem more destructible than the standard benny and would've been helped by the removal of a few FOTM ingredients that adorned it.
Combining that with with nice service and a cool location make Tripod Cafe well worth visiting.
Yes to Muffins, coffee and sandwiches. But a BIG, HUGE NO to the burgers. The fact that it took 40 (forty!!) minutes to prepare them as well as the disappointing final result are simply unacceptable. I would also emphasize on the quality of meat used: why does it smell so weird? we were not expecting some high-end angus beef patty, but at least something that you could imagine being edible if it was cooked medium-rare.
I just with all your menu were to the same standard as your muffins...
A favourite. Great coffee, lovely little terrace with cosy indoor and courtyard seating. Food is great too.
