I got some good hearty food here, smoked meats or good chicken breast all with things like potato or dumplings, so they were hearty meals despite the high prices. They did seem rather bland though in comparison to the food I had at Alchemy (it's been a long time since I went to Poland but I remember some things like soups being very flavoursome). For straight up meat and potatoes, places like Tommy's up the road are better value.
The pork loin stuffed with prunes is my favourite! I get it each time I go here, I love it. Cute, cosy restaurant with traditional Polish decor (and lots of interesting little things on display to look at).
It is very small and unfortunately the tables are way too close together (that is my only complaint).
(Possible real rating: 3.5/5)
A mate of mine suggested Polish one cold night. So I thought, why not! So in the middle of October, admittedly it was 16 degrees celsius, we went.
The interior was so typical Polish countryside! Love it! Service was prompt, friendly but lacking real professionalism. Not that it matters to me!
We had to ask for the drinks menu, oh dear, as it wasn't given to us first. They ran out of mead or honey wine. It such a big shame as mead is important to Polish cuisine. So I settled for the mulled wine, which was perfectly suited to the weather!
I decided to get soup to start on with. I got Flaczki; a traditional Polish tripe soup! Hands down, my favourite dish of the night! Tripe was generous and the broth was spiced wonderfully!
Next up, Bigos! The national dish of Poland! Ok my mate got it and he liked it. I got the duck. It was half a duck! What the duck!!! Came with kopytka (a potato gnocchi like thing), Kapusta (stewed red cabbage sauerkraut) and a side salad. I finished it! Don't judge! Was good but skin wasn't roasted to a crisp.
Although I should of stop, I decided to have Nalesnik; a crepe filled with plum jam served with ice cream on the side for some reason. Hey it worked!
I would probably recommend it to others who want to try something out of the blue. Polish cuisine is not very popular. Or those who wants a decent feed! I might go back and maybe try the Bigos. Hopefully they'll have have mead in stock!
+3 standard starting points for food
+1 differently delicious!
4. a must try.
Food:
Overall, it tastes and feels very homey. Everything is comforting, filling and super tasty. I adore the opportunity to experience a different place through their food, and this was such a good example of that. Especially loved the sauerkraut, dill, and smoked meats.
Bigos (A traditional polish stew of sauerkraut and smoked meats, served with potatoes flavoured with dill.) The stew was super punchy and warm, with satisfying chunks of the smoked meat. The potatoes were well seasoned and paired very well with the strong flavour of the stew. Highly recommended.
Pierogi (Dumplings!) We had them fried and as an entree. They were delicious, but I expected them to be just a little bigger considering the price. Bacon was salty and the onions were so sweet. Dumplings themselves were well seasoned and meaty. Who doesn’t love dumplings?!
Placki (Potato pancakes with mushroom sauce and sour cream) the pancakes were super crispy on both sides, and not just around the edges! When you add the creamy mushroom sauce or the fluffy sour cream it really makes the potatoes sing.
Will go back to try the beetroot soup and the flaming caramel dessert.
Staff are very friendly and the decor feels homey and comfortable.
$60 for two (included a drink) A little on the pricey side but definitely well worth it.
Noise level: quiet to normal
#polish #authentic #friendly
Traditional barn house interior that looks straight out of Poland. The staff are extremely friendly and all speak Polish.
The food is traditional, rich and delicious. expect lots of carbs and lard. Potato pancakes, pork schnitzel, potato dumplings, regular dumplings, pork lard spread with traditional cured meats. Can't forget that deep fried cheese! All yum!
The place is packed so make a booking for dinner. Really love this place. With EatsWithMiffy and Kymcia
Came here expecting delicious traditional Polish food & i wasnt disappointed! I went with a group of friends which meant we could order a good selection off the menu. Being Polish i know what good home cooked Polish food taste like and it wasnt as good as my Mums but it was very close :) Every dish was packed full of flavour. The atmosphere & staff were so very pleasant and hospitable. Warm cosy vibe, cocktails & vodka liquor very yummy. Very good service, food came out without much wait.
Great little polish gem in Glebe. Intimate atmosphere combined with great tastes and a traditional menu.
Give it a go and you will not be disappointed!
Na Zdrowie is a lovely little restaurant that has "comfort food" written all over it. We were seated right away and given menus..... Everything looked amazing! After careful deliberation, we decided on pickled herring in sour cream and dill with rye bread for an entree. It was delicious and definitely had a traditional feel to it. I thoroughly enjoyed a plate of fried sauerkraut pierogi (dumplings) in mushroom sauce with a side of fresh cucumbers in dill. The meal was sublime and I think would be absolutely perfect in the winter. They have a wide variety of Polish beers and flavoured vodkas. We opted for a light wheat beer with a splash of sour cherry syrup - who knew that flavoured syrup compliments beer?! Just couldn't help but order a honey flavoured vodka to have with the Polish cake of the day ; chocolate, pear and ginger. What a meal! I would highly recommend this place.... The service was great and food VERY comforting :)
Been visiting Na Zdrowie now for years for their polish food. I love the meat platter and the Serek fried camembert. They do a fantastic Pierogi & Golabki and I love the Bigos here, although different to my grandma's recipe, its still delicious and hearty.
No matter what you order I highly recommend sides. Rye is a minimum but I also love the cream & cucumbers, beetroot and horseradish. Vibe here is homely and casual and the staff are just great. Huge range of beers.
LOVE their pierogi with lots of sour cream. The Camembert is also good. The staff are also friendly and helpful. Need to come back here very soon
Good - not excellent. The menu is full of hearty traditional Polish food and a good beer selection. Pierogi were a bit smaller than you generally find in Poland, but just as tasty. Main meals well proportioned and delicious - especially the bigos. The let down was the service. It was a bit, well, Soviet-era. Particularly annoying was the need to keep entree cutlery for main course - small issue, but not necessary. Steer clear of the Chopin Cake if you're worried about clogged arteries, and if you do go down that path, ask for a fork - a spoon doesn't cut it, literally!
The first dish of the day was quite unique. It was called Smalec – Delicious seasoned lard with apples and onions, served with rye bread & Polish pickles. This was definitely my favourite! The lard was served cold with some crunchy elements to it. The combination of lard, rye bread and pickles was fantastic. I felt like eating the whole jar of Smalec myself.
The food from this neck of the world is hearty, meat-based and unfussy and the presence of beetroot, dill and horseradish add an earthyness and aroma to dishes such as crumbed pork, duck, herring and smoked sausages. Translated, “na zdrowie“ means “on hea

When a couple we are friends with mentioned they'd like to take us to a Polish restaurant we were intrigued. My partner's heritage is Polish, and whilst we have eaten a lot of Eastern European food, we haven't actually dined in
Delicious and amazing!. Food was wonderful and the staff so lovely and even helped us learn some polish! We had the dumplings with cheese and potatoe and the schnitzel! Finished with the kosciuszko nothing short of a sweet dream! Highly recommended!
Warm and inviting. In winter, you will feel as if you have stumbled into a polish tavern deep in the hills of tatra. The food is rich by Australian standards (pot of lard with rye bread!), homely and delicious. Peirogi, polish sausage, fish and herring were my favorites. The grass vodka was a refreshing delight. We have been twice, and will continue to go back ever year.
Good main course. I made a bit of a judgement error ordering the pork crackling spread for entree. The first 3 mouthfuls were tasty then it just tasted and felt like puréed pork fat and cracking. I couldn't finish it as it felt very unhealthy. I must say my partner's entree was wonderful so take care ordering. Main was lovely. I had a traditional stew. I was pleased to have ordered stewed red cabbage side as this added texture and even more flavour to the dish!
My husband and I went to this restaurant last night for our anniversary since my grandparents came from Poland I thought I should try some different polish cuisine and I was not dissapointed at all,we had the sauerkraut pierogi as a entree and it was delicious, and I loved my main which was a kielbasa sausage with potatoes and pickles and was very impressed, the service was excellent and my husband and I like it that much that we want to bring friends with us next time,I really reccomend this to anyone that wants to try something different and will return in the near future.
Delicious and delightful!. We ate here tonight and although it's not the cheapest food in Glebe my goodness it was delicious!
The duck was one of the best duck meals I have ever eaten, the entrees were perfect and each and every item a winner. On top of all that, lovely and prompt service!
Authentic and welcoming. A lovely, cosy restaurant for those who appreciate different cultural experiences. We've been here about 10 times and have never been disappointed. The food is great quality. Would highly recommend the pierogi for entree and the duck for main. one of the best duck dishes i've tried. they also have an impressive vodka selection (try the honey vodka) plus some great beers.
staff are also very friendly and efficient.
Amazing and delicious! Feel.... Amazing and delicious!
Feels like home, naprawdę wyśmienite jedzenie!
Beautiful, friendly, delicious!. I was out in Glebe with some friends for the Sydney Fringe Festival and just happened upon Na Zdrowie. None of us had ever had Polish food so we thought we'd give it a try. First impressions were great - cozy, warm, tastefully decorated and friendly (Polish) waitress. We had no idea what to order so let the waitress, as she was Polish and knew the food better, decide for us. Everything we had was delicious! The pork crackling was not what we had imagined at all, more of a paste you spread on the bread instead of pieces of crackling, but I think that might have been our collective favourite of the night. The mushroom pierogi, kielbasa, and potato pancakes were all mouth-watering, perfectly cooked and easily shared. My only disappointment was that we didn't have time to stay for dessert. Will definitely be going back.
The family Polish. I've been to Poland and we had great food there. I still hanker for Polish food now and then and it's nice to reminded of how yummy it can be,
My preference is still the smalec and the pierogi. The half-duck was impressive but it wasn't a well-fed duck. The Golabki, well I think the Hungarians do it better but the Ryba was enjoyable.
Go the vodka and make a night of it.
I would go back.
What a great find!!. Glebe point road is such a long road, its unfortuante most people stay closer to the george street restaurants.
IVe walked passed this place several times without ever noticing it was there. Polish found ive only tried a few times so i was interested in trying more
The outcome of our dinner was very positive, there was nothing to complain about.
The food didnt take long to come out, almost makes me think it was pre made.
The entree wth pork crackling and apple was really nice though a little oily. There dumplings were mouth watering.
The mains were a little disappointing, only because the entree's gave us high expectations
I found the mains though a little small but still enjoyable
Service was polite and attentive.
Ambience wise its a little small and the baskets around the lights make the palce a little dim
Value wise its a little expensive
OVerall though i really enough my experience here, i will aim to come back in future
Had nil problems using the entertainment book voucher
We thought the crumbed mushrooms were morish, E thought borsh (spelling?) soup was tasty, though it wasn't Rs cup of tea. R thought his meat wrapped in cabbage leaves was boring at first but when he combined it with a side of pickles and apple/carrot salad he felt it a very satisfying meal. R said that the Chopin cake (frozen cream, almonds, chocolate+) was one of the best deserts he's had in his life! E thought it was nice. R loved the compit Drink (like iced tea made w cloves & fruit) & E liked it.
Na Zdrowie. Fantastic Polish place, great staff and great food.
The set up is like a traditional olden style polish restaurant back in the home land!
Great place, highly recommend it (must book ahead)
10/10
Great!. Food is delicious! I was skeptical coming here, but my worries were unfounded and I had a great time.
Our second visit to this place and we have enjoyed it again.
The food is excellent , great choice of polish beers and spirits, you’d have trouble trying them all.Cosey atmosphere and pleasant surroundings..
The waiters we ran off their feet ,part of a polish experience.
Came here with my partner to have a little pre-valentines day celebration. We both loved it there. It's sort of a hidden gem on its street but I assure you their food is amazing. Half of the food (more like all of them) we couldn't pronounce, but the Staff were sooo amazing and accomodating going around with a smile☺ they also serve authentic Polish drink which is amazing and tastes even more amazing! Inside their restaurant, I felt a rustic and medieval vibe with music playing in the background🤭
Would definitely recommend this place if you want to engulf yourself into another cuisine and culture.
Never eaten polish before, and lucky I went with a few friends that guided me about the food, super nice ensure you have the beetroot soup with the wrap you see here.
Well started with a recommendation from Martin who was so friendly and hospitable and he delivered. Cold drink Kompot was perfectly sweet and flavourful drink which is a must try and also a Grzaniec ( Hot Wine) which is warm and very please to drink as well, And the Cheese Dumplings with Sour soup, OMG never had any dumplings which was that tasty before , it was just sensational, and Grilled Chicken and Nalesnik (dessert) at the end was spectacular. Would highly recommend for anyone and Thanks Martin and all the Na Zdrowie Team.
We had their Polish Christmas dinner. Great service, interesting food. Enjoyed it a lot.
This is a great authentic Polish dining experience, right down to the furniture and wall adornments.
The restaurant also offers a great selection of imported polish beers to accompany the meal.
The food itself is predominantly comfort food. Filling and hearty with typical bavarian flavours. I'd recommend the dumplings!
Good for sour taste lover! Dumplings r amazing taste, and cabbage with potato Meat is delicious.
the environment of restaurant is cute and National characteristics,
but the music style is too popular music 😃😃
Desserts are not as excellent as expected, maybe the taste is too sour for me,but I will said they r still good.
