Amazing service and drinks, for a bar I didn’t expect the food to be good but it was! Been here a few times and still Excited to come back to try more drinks.
Bartender will whip you up some drinks if you feel adventurous.
Second chances are important, right? Except the problem is, in Sydney, spoiled for choice, if you have a bad or mediocre experience, it’s not easy to decide to return somewhere when there are so many other options. On the other hand, there aren’t a dozen classy little bars in Potts Point to choose from, and while F had not enjoyed being here a previous time, he said, enthusiastically, let’s try it again!
Best staff of anywhere else around. Everyone is funny & insanely knowledgeable. The food is amazing, ambiance is perfect. Can’t fault the place. 👌🏽 My new local for sure.
Vow vow vow ! Everything about this place is awesome:)
Amazing service ! Great ambience ! Awesome starters! Cocktails at it's best ! Nitrogen carlato and Refashioned cocktail 🍹 is the best :) Approx 100$ for 2 ! Worth it 😉🍻
Ate lunch here yesterday with a friend. We both ordered the Sunday roast and my friend summed it up perfectly when she said 'that has to have been the most delicious roast I have ever had'. It was amazing... I would have licked the plate had I not been out in public. Partnered with a couple of cheeky malbecs and it was just perfect. Highly recommend.
After finishing a meal from the apollo, head on to this classic cocktail bar! They make a really good cocktails! Nitro colada is a must try! it became one of my favourite cocktail as it is really yummy! service is good! Based on experience, when they made my nitro colada, their machine is broken, they have to whip the egg by hand till they reach the proper texture, i waited almost an hour for one cocktail, 3 bar tenders are whipping the egg in turns. As apology they offer a wine for free. Didn't asked for it but they still give it. They also apologise for the wait which is very good. I end up thanking the bartenders for good work and gave a good tip. Thumbs up for their cocktails.
Such a beautiful American style bar! It's very busy on a friday night so a booking is probably your best bet to get a decent table. The drinks menu is very unique with drinks like "John Wayne" and "Calamity Jane" but don't expect to go without making a dint in your wallet cause it's quite pricey!
I ordered Carlotta, which was a bit sweet for my taste but the addition of the lemon helped. I then had Lil Lottie, which was really good, wasn't as sweet as the Carlotta and had a nice citrus after taste. I then ordered a Mojito, which was beautifully done.
My friends ordered Chicken Liver Pate and they said it was really nice and the flavour was really great. They don't have many vegan options on the menu but I didn't really ask so i just nibbled on some bar nuts.
My friends also ordered a Margarita which was served with dry ice! That was very surprising and a great little show that we got to watch! I also liked the use of black salt, taking the traditional Margarita to a new level. We also ordered 99 Bitters which was by far the best one, the flavour of the 3 types of rum was amazing, highly recommend that drink! The straight Martini was also very good.
Overall, the experience of the Roosevelt was a great one, the ambiance was lovely and the service was outstanding. I highly recommend for anyone wanting a fun night out, but expect your pay check to go in a flash!
Great cocktails and the Brussel Sprouts were to die for. Great friendly service with an atmosphere to match. Good spot to locals and tourists.
The Roosevelt doesn't try to be cool, it is cool!
The cocktails are expertly prepared and service is NYC grade, lightening fast and professional.
I want to love the food more but I have never had a truly memorable meal. Sydney rock oysters are brilliant! The steak is $$$ for what it is but good luck finding a better one in Potts Point.
Lovely bar tucked inside Potts Point. Beautiful decor and good service, with a wide range of cocktails. Only downside was a bit understaffed which meant a long wait for drinks and service.
Will still definitely visit again!
Melbourne has got 1806 and Sydney has Roosevelt. In my opinion Roosevelt and Eau De Vie are the only few proper cocktail bars in Sydney. The guys in Roosevelt love to show off their dry nitrogen. Gimmick? you can be the judge of that. Personally I loved it. We had three cocktails, one was served in a pistol, mine had dry nitrogen and the last one was served in a flask. Apart from the one in flask that tasted really strong, I liked the other two. The bar was quiet, you got table service and menu, no shouting in each other's face, no push and shove, no desperate attempt to get a seat or table. It was professional, civilised, and relaxing.
We had lunch here on Saturday in a group of four. I have lived in Kings Cross for 4 years and Roosevelt had never appealed from exterior as looked dark and dingy. However, upon entering I was immediately impressed by the gorgeous interior with art deco, glamorous furnishings, decor and white table cloths. We had two of the Fish of the day (Barracuda) which were absolutely delicious, and two of the Pork mains, with sides of green beans, chips and sweetcorn that were all very tasty. A bottle of Spanish rosé was the perfect accompaniment. Service was fantastic and attentive. Even better we could use our Sydney Entertainment Guide book to get a $40 discount. Overall very happy with lunch experience.
This place caught my eye because of their special wagyu steaks for $15, their food was good but not great, most of the dish were average but their drinks tasted good. Atmosphere wise its nice and trendy, seem like a classical high class jazz bar. In no hurry to return so until next time .... keep eating!!!!
Expect a 'Kings Cross' crowd on Saturdays. Enjoyed the cocktails and the food was satisfying however I was slighty turned off by the couples sitting on either side of me eating each other's faces and feeling each other up.
The Roosevelt is synonymous with 1940′s glamour, cocktails and late night fun. It is not somewhere you would think to bring children. But wait! Every Wednesday is ‘Parents Night’ where you can dress up for a night out with friends and family whilst little ones are looked after and fed in their own special room on site. Sound tempting?
The Roosevelt in Potts Point oozes sophistication and glamour! Upon entering, you step into a world of dimmed lights, art deco furnishings and cabinets filled with vintage glassware and cocktail shakers. You can almost imagine the ladies in ball gowns and fur and the men in suits enjoying everything the club had to offer during the 40′s and 50′s. Originally opened in 1947 by Abe Saffron, it soon became one of the most infamous and successful nightclubs in Australia until it was closed down in 1954. After several reincarnations since then, the current owners have recreated the 1940′s glamour whilst offering a traditional American diner inspired menu.
Every Wednesday night, The Roosevelt opens its arms to families for ‘Parents Night’. Banish those mid-week blues and make a night of it whilst the little ones have a fun time with the nanny in a specially designated room. Rest assured they will be fed gourmet food and have heaps of fun! We literally had to coerce Miss 4 away with promises of returning again soon:) Bookings for dinner are taken from 6pm and whilst parents enjoy the main dining area, little ones are fed and entertained for only $20 per child. The owners’ little twin boys also take part in the action which includes lots of arts and craft, painting and more. My girls loved the antipasto plate and crumbed chicken strips with vegetables and chips.
Their ginger beer mixer is even home made!
The Roosevelt transports you to a place where there’s sense of cheekiness and a touch of ol’ school Hollywood glamour. The revamped 1940s bar and diner is nestled in one of the small streets of Potts Point, where the iconic nightclub was a stop-by must for the elite. Now, it’s back to The Roosevelt’s old roots with an influence of upscale American diner and love for alcohol.
I took a party of 20 along for an end of year dinner in black tie. Everything about the evening was perfect. Great staff, great food and a great setting.
Fun and different. Great cocktails and food menu. The fried chicken with waffles was a great combination.
Nice burger .. Bit too small.. Not enough blue cheese
Great food, grest staff, great atmosphere. Took my partner here for his birthday dinner. He loves American culture and The Roosevelt definitely had those vibes. Very romantic as well. Not a big menu but the food was amazing. Ordered the buffalo wings, skinny fries, ocean trout and wagyu steak. Went on a Wednesday night and the wagyu steak was $15 instead of $35! One of the best steaks I have ever had. Staff were very helpful and friendly. Definitely would go back here to try the cocktails!
Cocktails with style. I took my partner here for his birthday and I must say, we felt like VIPs. It's all in the details that make this place an amazing experience.
The wait staff were funny, attentive and delightful They remembered that I had booked the table for a birthday dinner and brought a candle out in our dessert. Perfection.
The cocktails are a spectacle in themselves. A vast choice of eclectic spirit and mixer combinations with each being handcrafted and delivered in a unique glass of it's own.
The food is also something not to miss. Tapa inspired with an american flare, we dined on salt and pepper chicken, spinach and ricotta balls and mac n cheese with deep fried broccoli....Definitely my favourite of the night.
All of this combined means you MUST experience and soak in the dark brooding saloon atmosphere and indulge in the sheer pleasure that is The Roosevelt.
Amazing food, amazing cocktails... Great service!
Vibes was spot on and the waitress was so friendly! Music was just a tad too loud - we really had to raise our voices to hear each other. Bit of a wait for cocktails but it was very yummy!
Lovely space and delicious cocktails! Innovative and extensive drink list. One of the best places to spend your night out in the Kings Cross.
Ducked in for a drink and the hostess was amazing. Good range of drinks and also a proper food menu too.
Music was way too loud. You couldn’t get anything across unless you were yelling. I highly recommend turning it down a smidge
Walk around and see this bar, fantastic cosy atmosphere, the main course was yummy and the cocktails were lovely and tasty. Highly recommended.
We hosted my friends’ 30th here in their private dining room, the poker room and it was awesome! The room looked amazing, the food and drinks were great and the staff were incredible. Shout out to Tani, who was patient and took great care of us and made the night so great! Highly recommend this awesome bar 😊
Go to place in Sydney. I always eat here on every trip. Food and vibe are great, staff are generally really good too, although you get the occasional “too cool for school” waiter.
We recently did a cocktail masterclass at The Roosevelt and it was a fantastic experience! The private room we were in was beautiful and had a great atmosphere. Tan was an excellent host, guiding us through the creation of three amazing cocktails. We had plenty of time to make and enjoy the cocktails - none of it felt rushed.
The team was also incredibly accommodating when we needed to reschedule our event at late notice earlier this year, and didn't charge us a cancellation fee. Highly recommend The Roosevelt for an event or just a great night out.
Great ambience and an extensive cocktail list are the highlights here. The staff are very nice and friendly and accommodating.
The wines here are expensive for what they are and the food I had was pretty average. Overcooked steak served with a really nice sauce, not exactly the medium rare I asked for. It was also a small portion and I ended up having to eat something later.
We had a good night as it was a gathering of friends after years and we enjoyed some great cocktails. Would come back for the same again. There is outdoor seating but the place was pretty packed for a Friday night and it was buzzing throughout the time we were there. A bit noisy as a result so if you want a quiet conversation this might not be ideal.
