Review Holy Duck! - Sydney

David Chy
A good dining experience but it was let down a bit by the roast meats. (4.5*). The crispy roast duck and the roast pork was a bit dry. Also had the pork and crab fried dumplings, Hokkaido scallops and a few other dishes. The fried ice cream was an unexpected delight, though. Cocktails were yummy and well-made. Service + atmosphere was good standard.

Came here for my friend’s birthday for the banquet menu and was delighted with the experience. Food was great - an Asian delicacy with a western twist to it. Staff were very friendly and accommodating as we had a couple of dietary requirements - overall a great experience.

Nice venue and great staff. Service was quick and efficient. The food presented beautifully, but flavour didn't match up. The bao buns didn't taste overly fresh and the only flavour of the duck pancake was the hoisin sauce (not bad at all, just would have loved more creativity). When tried on its own, the duck was quite bland.

The duck was fried not roasted, it's not sliced but shredded, so it's definitely not a Peking duck at all nor traditional. For that price I'm not too sure what am I paying for. The fried rice noodle with beef was not traditional as well, they used the steamed vermicelli roll instead of thick rice noodle which was weird. For a Cantonese like me, The food overall was not authentically canto.

Terrible terrible duck, super dry and salty couldn't taste anything, crispy calamari was not crispy as all, service was good. not recommend.

Signature crispy duck is a must try! Staff were nice, they accommodated my request for a surprise birthday treat for my partner. They even sang a happy birthday song 😊

The best peaking duck I have ever had. I didn’t expect the duck to be crispy ( nice surprise btw). Me and my friend got to make our own pancakes - which was SUPER fun. Nice service and friendly staff. Definitely coming back. Must try Holy Duck.

Really enjoy food here as all the staff were so helpful and friendly. First try with their signature crispy duck with pancake , vermicelli with king prawn, sweet and stick BBQ pork so do as their vanilla panacotta were a good recommendation. The manager and his team were giving their best services that I have not met before. They always understand the needs of customer and the Lime and Lychee breeze non cocktail drinks was the best drink. Highly recommended this restaurant❤️😃
Spice Is Life
Heard good things about Holy Duck so we decided to give it a go. Ordered a whole crispy duck with pancakes. The duck was dry, salty and had the aftertaste of old oil. My missus felt sick after the meal. There was nothing special about this meal— best to visit a non fancy local Chinese BBQ place instead for better flavours!

Management also needs to remind staff about proper hygiene especially coming into the warmer months now.

I ordered the Holy Duck burger for lunch. The burger was just fine but the most terrible thing is that I found a small insect in the plate so I showed it to the staff. I was expecting "sorry and we will make a new serve for you". However, the staff was asking "do you want me to change it?". Then I said "yes" and then he took the plate away, killed the insect and left it on the table. With well $15 spent for an average burger and very s**t service, this is definitely one of the worst experience I have ever had.

Great atmosphere. Cocktails were also good especially their specials list at $12, Orange gin and tonic was refreshing, and the perfect storm was just that. The scallops were cooked just right and the balance of the roe was great. Duck dumplings were ok but nothing special. However the crispy Roast pork was delicious with a pommery mustard mayo. The Sichuan chicken wings were great, hot but full of flavour and of course we had to try the signature duck, this was an interesting dish and well executed but not sure I would order again. If you like very sweet fried rice go for the roast holy duck fried rice it has the sweetness of lots of sugar. This was not to out taste. The service was good and friendly.

Popcorn Chicken ($11)
Bbq Pork ($22)
Beef Noodles ($19)
Overall ⭐️ 3.5/5 ⭐️
🍴Passed by this on the way to #koidessertbar so decided to check it out given the pretty interior and decent crowd of patrons. Probably known for their signature crispy duck (especially with the display of glistening roast ducks) but we deviated from that in trying their modern take on Chinese dishes. We enjoyed the #popcorn chicken that was expertly fried without being too oily/ sweet and had nice sesame aroma. The #bbqpork was flavorful and tender but a tad too sweet for our tastebuds. The #beefnoodes was similarly well-executed in taste but could do with less salt. Do note that the food comes in quite generous portions so it might make sense to share
📍@holyduck.au, The Old Rum Store, 10/2 Kensington St, Chippendale, Sydney, Australia

Holy duck probably should change their name. Poor customer service, one of the staff members treated me very poorly. Didn’t spend much?? I wanna burger, very bad bad bad duck burger. Almost nothing on it, stale hot bread, 2 times I asked for no chips but root chips that by the way were good but 2 times they brought the dish the same. Eating out is part of the service, atmosphere, food, all those 3 boxes crossed as they didn’t delivered. Would it be better going to MacDonalds it would have been better. Terrible food except the root chips very nice

This place was so great! Being from Melbourne we didn’t think we could find such a memorable restaurant in Sydney! Holy Duck really danced on my taste buds, although simple the duck was packed with so much flavour! When we come back to Sydney we will be sure to check out Holy Duck again.

Peking Duck always draws crowds to a Chinese restaurant and Holy Duck! have taken it to the next level, with their whole duck feasts that will serve the masses at a reasonable price. Not only this, you can order an array of Chinese meals, primarily duck based but plenty of other quality dishes too. This highlights them to be one of the masters of modern Chinese Cuisine.

We ordered half duck, steamed veggie and crispy egg noodles. The service was attentive and the cocktails were amazing as well. However the noodles and steamed veggies were extremely salty. We complained to the waiter and he jokingly said that was for us to order more drinks... well...overall service and cocktails were excellent; duck was crispy outside and juicy and flavoursome inside but the other dishes made me sick. I felt like I was eating nothing but salt.

Personally, I have never been a big fan of going to Kensington Street. Finding a parking can be quite challenging. Public transport is probably the best option. So, when a friend suggested us to have dinner at Holy Duck, I was actually quite intrigued at the prospect of coming to Kensington Street. It was the end of winter and it was raining that day.

We love duck so needless to say, when we first saw this place a while back, we had to go there. Absolutely love the concept and the cool industrial setting. However, we've been there a couple of times now and perhaps it's because we are way too excited when we go there but we always leave a bit disappointed. It's not that the dishes are bad but I guess they are just average. We just didn't think the crispy duck or the roast duck are as good as from traditional Chinese restaurants. Our biggest disappointment was perhaps the burger and my favourite from this place is funnily enough not a duck dish but the rice I first had when I came here (pictured) but they don't even do it anymore! Please bring it back. Good atmosphere, great service and it's in a convenient location, close to Spice Alley and Koi for a cheeky dessert afterwards. I think it's a fantastic place to catch up with friends and talk about ... duck, because what else!

Being only a stone's throw from Central, the Kensington Street precinct and its' casual laneway Spice Alley, is probably the most accessible dining hub in Sydney. Made up of a versatile mix of fast-casual's, cafes, restaurants and bars, it's a good choice for those wanting to eat out in the city but unsure of where to land.

Flavourful menu and nice ambiance :) Looooved their ducks! I have been reading google reviews about this restaurant and apparently I find a lot of negative reviews saying their duck is dry and very very salty. Their duck was just perfectly booked I'd say. Wasn't too salty even! It was really crispy on the outside and juicy on the inside! Loved it. Also we had the tofu which is really good as well, we had some other menus but wasn't able to take photos.. The only negative I can say was their sticky pork chops, they were really overcooked and dry on the inside, I couldn't even chew it properly.. yes flavour was there, but wasn't cooked well.

Overall, wasn't a bad experience at all.. we'll come back for sure. :)
Mandychai1992
Stumble upon Holy Duck, and the roast duck was very average considering a restaurant main focus is on duck. Pickles on the side were too sweet and the plum sauce is overpowering the duck. Had the holy duck fried rice which was weird. Fusion went wrong, wholegrain mustard with duck fried rice. Tasted so wrong. The ambience and service was good tho.

Holy Duck is famous for their duck dishes but it’s more than that. The duck shop has just opened a new branch in Castlecrag, Quadrangle Shopping Village, just right next to Bistro Mekong. The place has a similar exterior design compared to the one in Kensington Street in Chippendale, and the interior embraces a strong oriental feel.
Xoxo.msjamie
Been here twice and enjoyed it both times. From the same group as Chef’s gallery. I find it’s a more refined version of Chinese bbq restaurant and offers classic Chinese dishes with a slight twist. The desserts have asian flavours but are definitely more western and a bit more experimental.
Next Stop: Food
For a restaurant that’s supposed to specialised in roast duck, their dumplings are impressively amazing. The skin was thin and dumpling fill with the sauce was just perfect.
Jessica Grace
Loved it! Probably not super authentic duck, but I found it delicious and crispy. The ambiance was great, beautiful restaurant fitting and perfect for a family outing.

We had a half duck, fried rice, pickles and pork belly bao. Everything was good, except for the bao. I wouldn’t recommend eating things that aren’t the special here.

One thing to note, is the front door is so large on a cold day it’ll be freezing if you sit near it. Apart from that, check it out! It’s worth it.
GymEatSleep
So not impressed by the food. Another example of fusion food went wrong maybe. Crispy dumplings turned out chewy and rubbery, chicken san choy bao was so average and definitely the bbq duck was far from authentic. The wait staff was rush to clear out our table even though there was not anyone waiting for one on a Saturday night. What ashamed given the interior is much better than average Cantonese diner.

I read so many reviews before coming here and was still a bit hesitant to visit but everyone’s experience is different right? So I thought why not check it out. Came here with a couple of girlfriends and I felt that the service was really awkward. When I say it’s awkward, it would be the waitress coming over to take our order after we had just sat down or another waiter would come over and ask if we’re ready or another waitress will come over to ask if we’re done with our food with two different ones coming over shortly asking the same thing. It made me as the customer feel uncomfortable and it comes off pushy - just saying.

Unfortunately the food was average. Highlight would have to be the pork and prawn dumpling and the fried tofu was okay - how ironic since they both don’t have duck in it? 🤷🏻‍♀️ I don’t know I think if you call yourself “holy duck” you’d expect your “duck” dishes to be the highlight.

The duck is so dry… not the traditional Chinese duck, it’s too western style and a bit expensive, and the stir fire wagyu beef doesn’t taste good either. Not recommended.

*🦆ing great fried rice with mustard seeds
*Scallops were also quite nice
*Definitely order their signature duck pancake 🥞 dish
*Service wasn’t that great
Gourmet Rocket
Came here with mates to try the signature crispy fried duck just to compare it to the traditional Peking one. The duck tasted great and it was literally crispy! For a large duck, you don't get much of the pancakes. Should of be given more and we had to ask to get and pay more. Funnily enough, the most memorable dish was the crispy fried dumplings of crap and pork! The explosion of flavour when bitten was incredible! We shared a bottle of house tempranillo which was good, but had better tempranillo elsewhere. Would definitely come back again to try other dishes. This place is great to share dishes with friends!
Hannah
I expected pecking duck taste to signature crispy duck. It was just super salty deep fried duck. Meat is really dry, no spice flavor. Over price compare to portion and taste. I won’t come back.
Sugabits
Love the ambience and service was great. Crispy duck was the highlight of our night. The pancakes was fresh and served warm. Not a big fan of the deboned roast duck,as we found the meat cut was too small and not much flavour to it. Just ordered crispy duck instead of the roast duck. Def worth it! 💕
Narutard
Located in the trendy Chippendale district, Holy Duck is a welcome addition to the Chinese casual dining scene. Had a CNY dinner here with friends - highly recommend the black sesame and pink salt tofu. Crispy on the outside yet pillow soft melt on your mouth in the inside, the tofu was generously seasoned with just the right amount of salt. The signature duck was a slight disappointment - while the serving was generous and the duck itself nice and crispy, the meat lacked flavour and was often dry. Might stick to the traditional Peking duck in the future.

I had been wanting to try this roast duck place for some time... it looks good and I love duck.... finally went and within 5 minutes was put off by the severely intense and annoying indian waitress... who had already asked us about 6 times since seated if we were ready to order.... dun think she really understood give us a few minutes to look. For a change... I actually felt really over serviced here... which is really annoying when you are trying to catchup with someone and get interrupted every 5 minutes. She also came and asked us if we were ready to order desert when we had just started on our mains. Zero EQ or concept of space... also having 3 waitresses taking our order was real overkill. Too many staff... not enough work... super unusual for a Chinese restaurant. But the management and rest of the staff minus the annoying indian waitress was pleasant at least.
On the food... very overpriced. The roasts were quite good... crunchy pork belly skin.... duck wasn't bad... although not the best I've tasted in Sydney either.... like if u sacrifice the whole Kensington street fancy set up... U can get the same from chatswood or Hurstville for half the price... Then there was the beef ribs... this dish was terrible. It tasted chewy, overkill of 5spice, And some really funky tasting avocado mush on the side which both did not taste good. Nor go well with the dish. We struggled to get thru much of the dish. So 90% of dish just went to waste. The white wine was also room temp and not cold. I would not be back..... if you want to go solely for roasts... it's ok.... But was not an overall great experience for us

[invite] Bianca: Team FFS has made a fairly sizeable dent in Chippendale’s Kensington Streets dining district and we’re now 4/5 in the Old Rum Store. Housing some of our favourite restaurants on the strip. Finally adding to the list is Holy Duck, with heavy hitters Din Tai Fung & Chef’s Gallery as a pre-cursor to this endeavour I was eager to check them out.

We must apologise to everyone.. we haven't been posting anything in the last month and a half because we GOT MARRIED and blasted straight off to our honeymoon! We took PLENTY of photos aboard the Allure of the Seas and can't wait to share them with you!. Alas, we are back and have plenty of content to share with you, starting with one of our favourites at Holy Duck. The only place we know of that you can order a deep fried duck... whole. Holy Duck is an amazing establishment located on Kensington Street, Chippendale. They have a different menu for lunch and dinner and are proud of their 'east meets west by day and modern Chinese delights by night' slogan. Holy Duck! is actually part of Chefs Gallery (which is known for for transforming Chinese dishes into modernised favourites).

Holy moly duck-a-mole! Holy duck is a spinoff restaurant by Chef's Gallery. I love the name of this place and as soon as we entered the restaurant, I fell even more in love with it. Cool, oriental Hong Kong, industrial vibes. The service we received was extraordinarily friendly and helpful! It made us feel so welcomed and well looked after. We had the entrees of steamed pork and duck dumplings and Sichuan hot and numbing chicken wings which made us excited for what to expect next. For mains we got a few other things but the one to mention is the star of the show - signature crispy duck with steamed pancakes, hoisin sauce, cucumbers and shallots. It was so much fun watching them shred the duck for you at your table and just as fun to devour. It was truly unique and delicious!! A lot more details in my blog post but overall I highly recommend this place!

Was invited to check out Holy Duck for dinner tonight. Located on the renowned Kensington Street in Chippendale, Holy Duck is a modern Chinese restaurant serving an array of contemporary Chinese flavors including bbq meats such as duck, roast pork, chicken wings, fried rice, crispy noodles, wagyu beef, handmade tofu etc.

My favorite for the night was the crispy egg noodle with mushrooms, the sauce was really good! The crispy duck with pancake is similar to Peking duck only crunchier and eaten with duck meat as well. Another favorite. Great vibes and friendly service!
Roman1806
Got an Uber Eats delivery - not bad flavours, but pretty small portions, the pork we got was just small cubes of meat, dumplings were nothing special and VERY expensive for what you got. In no rush to go back.
Matty Vickz
Attentive service, good food that comes quick. Nice atmosphere. The menu has some great dishes but I would say the wine list needs a few more choices
@KeraBearEats
While I am a huge fan of Holy Duck's food, and I will happily come back here every now and then, I would much prefer dining at a grungier, cheaper, and simpler Chinese BBQ restaurant for a fraction of the price.

For example, unless the occasion is special, I cannot justify spending $20 for BBQ pork when I can get the same amount for $10 in Haymarket.

The crispy egg noodles with mushrooms (for a more modest $18), are absolutely divine and worth getting. The mushrooms are the highlight of the dish, with great texture and amazing umami taste.

The Crispy Peking Duck is also good, and you can watch the waiter tear it up like wild.

Recommendations: The Crispy duck, the egg noodles, and the Holy Drink cocktail.
MUHAHAHA
Over priced - although the food is ok, price is rather high compared with the food quality and amount. We had crispy duck with pancake for one of our main, but we've only got 6 pancakes and each additional pancake is $1... this is not the case for other Chinese fusion restaurant, where extra pancake (similar to side dish bread) is charged at a high price... service is good, but considering about the food quality and price, probably won't come again...
Mertiolettebaby
I find it odd that the place named Holy Duck actually serves a better chicken dish than their duck dishes. Although the place had quick and friendly service, I found that their duck dishes was lacklustre. Their Popcorn Chicken was to die for, moist and tender with a crispy exterior. Interiors of this place screamed modern Chinese with plenty of seats to choose from.
Gugu_Chailatte
Visited Holy Duck on a Saturday night to make use of the entertainment book discount.
The signature crispy duck was yummy but the pancakes were a bit too thick and sort of covered up the flavors from the duck meat.
The highlight of the meal was actually the beef short ribs which were so tender and juicy. The jalapeño twist in the green pea mash is brilliant!
We ordered coconut cheesecake stack for dessert as the lychee pana cotta crumble was sold out. It was pretty and quite different from all the cheesecakes we had before.
Loved the ambience - it's a bar setting with Cantonese roast duck restaurant decor.
The service staff were very friendly and helpful.

The stand out at this place was the service. They're so attentive and friendly! One thing that was a little off putting was that we had three separate servers ask if we wanted drinks after we ordered drinks with the first server. Not a big deal but a little more communication amongst themselves would solve this issue.

The food itself was really awesome as well, I especially enjoyed the duck and pork dumplings. The sauces in all of the dishes were delicious and the crispy noodles were 👌🏼
Parramatta Foodie
I was invited to eat here and really enjoyed the fit out and ambiance.

The service was very attentive and friendly and I really loved the duck pancakes, the crispy rice balls with holy duck and the seafood noodles.

They had sold out of their dessert options so unfortunately did not get to try any.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Second time proved to be a charm at Holy Duck! After visiting this newcomer in January, I returned earlier this month to check out their updated menu. With the crew behind Chefs Gallery supplementing the menu of barbequed and roasted meats with vegetable dishes and a host of rice and noodle options, my first impression was that it’s now much easier to design a balanced meal at this holy temple of duck. I’m also pleased to see they took the hint and added a small list of craft beer and wine… if there’s anything rich barbequed meats call for, it’s booze to cut the fat and help wash them down.We whet our appetites with an entrée of Steamed Scallops ($16/4) accompanied by...

Have you been to Kensington St? There's so many great places including the venue Holy Duck which is an Asian Fusion restaurant and is a sister restaurant to Chef's Gallery. I recently head here to check out their new winter menu. From the name, as you might expect a signature duck dish. Holy Duck has a few points of difference, firstly it's Asian fusion so you'll also see some variations from traditional Chinese Duck.

Wouldn't return! We ordered quite a lot of food and therefore got a good idea of the overall quality and value. Very stingy portions for pricey food. The flavours of the food were fine - nothing to rave about. One prawn dish only had 2 prawns, yes a total of two measly prawns for $32! Very average service. The staff seemed like they didn't want to be there, unfriendly, lacking manners. Didn't also know their own menu. Quickly pretended not to notice you, and averted their eyes when you needed help with something. Far better restaurants around where you could spend the same amount or even less and actually enjoy your food and dining experience. Go somewhere else, save your money!

If you know DS, you’ll know he loves duck. It’s definitely in his top 5 favourite foods. So, naturally, we got very excited when Matt from Cardinal Spin invited us to check out the new dinner menu at Holy Duck! in Chippendale!. The restaurant has been around for quite some time, actually. Everyone that I mentioned it to was like, “Oh! That places does awesome fries and burgers!” None of that for us, unfortunately – Holy Duck! is stepping its dinner menu up with some modern versions of classic Chinese dishes!
Charn Tangson
Holy Duck has been established as the premier Chinese restaurant within the ever popular Kensington Street eatery precinct. The venue recently relaunched with a new and improved dining menu which is best described as Modern Chinese, it’s east meets west cuisine which keeps to its roots. Delicious signature delicacies include the crispy roast duck with steamed pancakes which is almost certainly must order.

Finally got to try this place out. Decor looks quite nice; but hard seats mean painful bottoms for those who are lacking in the booty department (lol). Overall the food was really enjoyable.

I tried the pork baos, which were really tasty.

Not pictured: construct your own duck pancakes with crispy skinned duck and mandarin pancakes (server helped shred up the duck so it wasn't really photo-material) - was delicious and better than the duck pancakes available elsewhere because I enjoy crispy/fried foods. I also liked the DIY concept because it means freedom to load more sauce and cucumber into my pancake. And for sides, lotus root chips which I cannot resist.

The bf tried the crispy chicken burger. He enjoyed it but didn't love the slaw/salad in he burger. Overall, still good (he said).

I had a great experience and would likely return whenever cravings for duck pancakes hit.
Excuse Me Waiter
Apart from the catchy name, the newest venture of the Chef’s Gallery group is nailing their offering of modern Chinese BBQ and roasts in a casual setting. Holy Duck! fits right in on buzzing Kensington Street, carrying its tongue in cheek theme throughout its modern, industrial decor. The theme runs from the glistening ducks hanging in the window (authentic Chinese BBQ/roast joint style) to the huge lit up sign on the back wall, the contemporary flavours on its menu and even the little cartoon ducks on their butchers paper that their food is served on.
Steph
We went there on a quiet night which was good because we didn't have to wait long for our food. The duck was really juicy and loved the taro rice.
IEats
This is one of the many restaurants on Kensington St. As the name of the restaurant suggests, the theme of the restaurant is to honour the duck. I tried the crispy duck burger which was okay, the bread roll was a bit dry and because of its sheer size, it overpowered the presence of the duck. I think it will be better to just order the whole or half duck outright.

However I will recommend the lotus chips which were very very good. They were super crunchy and well flavoured. The duck pancake was small but satisfying (although they have wrapped it for you so you don't get to do it yourself). The service is fast and if you plan on splitting the bill, order at the counter but if not, table service is provided.
Alan Lau
Very cool decor, we all had the what the duck burger which was surprisingly good. The bun was nice with plenty of sauce, came with salad and chips. Service was prompt and friendly.
Your Taste Buds
Does takeaway count? I walked in wanting just a burger, something tasty, and speedy as I needed to be somewhere. Front of house service wasn't too bad, the burger took 9 minutes, was quoted 10. I ordered the Crazy Chick Burger meal. The burger was very tasty and included a generous serve of meat with some lettuce, onions and sauce. The meal also included some lettuce, salad and French fries in a separate container, see photo. Pretty nice, but for $12? Would I order again? Maybe I'd get the $12 Pizza from the Italian Takeaway Andiamo instead. $10 if you're a student :)

Holy Duck is an amazing homage to a delicious meat, so we had to check them out at their Kensington Street venue and try their food for ourselves! We decided to opt for three of their dishes – the Tender Braised Pork Belly with spring onion pesto, the Ducken Delicious Pancakes, and the Buns of Squeal with a side of chips and salad.
Spooning Australia
It’s a decent basic menu at Holy Duck. It does what it does well but for me it’s too simple. This would be ideal to bring the family to, an upmarket duck fast food joint? And if I lived nearby I would happily grab some duck takeaway on the way home for a Friday night Blu Ray night dinner but for a duck appreciation venue it’s lacking. Where is the next level duck experience to make me dry hump my flatlay in a culinary frenzy? It’s good but it’s nowhere close to mind blowing. It provided a duck fix like a self pleasuring – it will never be as good as a decent ducking!
Milo_wendy
Food was underwhelming.
We came here for `dunch` and at the time we came, there were people at the shop front taking photos of the food, the tables were displayed with the restaurant's food. It all looked good, so we were confident in our choice of restaurant.
We ordered the crispy duck burger which came with a side of garden salad and fries, popcorn chicken, lotus root chips, and half crispy duck with Mandarin pancakes. The burger bun was slightly burnt and firm - not fresh and soft. The duck strips were dry and not moist. Because the duck skin was removed, the meat did not retain its moisture. I was hoping for some fatty duck pieces. The salad was boring but the chip salt was good on the chips. The popcorn chicken was soft and moist but I wasn't keen on the batter, and it had a sweet glaze which wasn't too sweet. I knew that at the sight of the lotus chips they were overcooked and they were, it tasted burnt. The chilli mayo on the side was only the highlight. The crispy duck was laid out on a board with sides of hoisin sauce, shallots and cucumber. Essentially I was making myself a Peking duck wrap but with crispy duck. The duck was crispy and wasn't bad in taste but fell short in moisture. Without the sauce, cucumber and shallots, I don't think I would have finished off the dish. Its disappointing that this place pride themselves on duck but failed to deliver any duck item that wasn't dry. Decor was nice and customer service was average.
Sandy Ly
A nice place, I ordered the crazy chicken burger. The bun was crispy and buttery! the filling was nice too, not that spicy. The price is reasonable as well.
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Having a bit of an obsession with eating duck this week, Holy Duck fit the bill (no pun intended) for dinner! Located near Spice Alley on Kensington Street. For dine in, take a seat and they will take your order and bring your food to you. We originally waited at the counter thinking you had to order there. The service was very friendly and managed the busy restaurant well. The menu has a range of duck dishes with pork and chicken making lots of appearances too.

We had Ducken Delicious Pancakes. These pancakes contained small chunks of duck with cucumber and spring onion. There seemed to be a bit too much orange hoisin sauce which made it a slightly soggy. The Duck Yeah Spring Roll had a good combination of duck and vegetables. Came out hot and crunchy.

What The Duck! Burger was served with a choice of duck (I chose crispy) and had the same accompaniments as per the pancakes with the addition of lettuce. The bun was brioche style. This time it could've done with more sauce as slightly dry. It was served with chips and salad. The Roast Holy Duck! came with a good portion of duck with jasmine rice and seasonal salad (pickled vegetables). Tasted really nice.

Overall an excellent meal with a few hiccups but they were minor niggles.
Greedygreedyguts
I've been here twice now and really want to like it but have found the food to be very average. Despite it's slick fit out Holy Duck brings down the Kensington Street standard. I've had the duck pancakes and duck with rice. Both were lacking in finesse and quality, even the rice was a bit plain and uneven. How can you get rice wrong?
Andy Quan
Located on the new dining strip, Kensington Street, next to Central Park Sydney, I reckon Holy Duck is going to be a great success. Opened by the successful folks behind the Chef’s Gallery, it’s a great way of making the Asian BBQ restaurant accessible to the general public, with a lot of wit and style. It’s very visually appealing.

If you luv ducks, this is the place to be! they have different type of duck dishes including burger which is very yummy! it's one of chefs gallery's franchise and would recommend to friends if you want to try something new. they also have taro rice which is yum! the place is small but the food is great. it's quite new and just right next to spice alley chippendale:)
FoodLuva
I had the holy duck burger. The duck was well cooked, but the bun was actually quite average, although engraving a duck onto them is a nice touch. Also the sauce wasn't too bad, but it was really watery so just dripped everywhere and the lettuce just slid out of the bun - it was a mess to eat. The chips though were really good, crispy, soft and nice seasoning. Service was a bit slow, but friendly.
Leon
Food at Holy Duck was better than the ratings suggested. My friends and I ordered the roasted, crispy duck rice and duck burger.

The duck was succulent and not too dry. However, it was a pity the crispy duck was too peppery.
Audrey
The restaurant is clean and minimalistic in design, and the brightly lit sign at the back provides a nice light. Ordered the "Buns of Squeal" and was not disappointed. Having eaten many pork belly buns in Singapore, I can safely say that the ones they make here are delicious! The pork is nicely marinated (with a slight sweetness to it) and very, very soft - melt in the mouth, in fact. That dish came with a good helping of thin fries (my favourite!) that were crispy, not becoming soggy throughout the course of my time there. For $12, I think it's a good deal!

The customer service is prompt and the staff are friendly.
The RnB Diary
Located in the bustling dining precinct of Kensington Street in Chippendale, Holy Duck is the new venture by the team behind Chefs Gallery. Transformed from the old Carlton United Brewery, the raw industrial vibe can still be felt. One side of the dining room shows the original, exposed brick wall whilst the other features an enormous fabric print of a typical Chinese market scene.

Found this place today squeezed between Lower Mekong and Bistro Gavroche. To be honest when I first walked in the duck on the hooks looked like any other Chinese BBQ Meat store, albeit pricier. However what interested me (and what most of my group ordered) was the Roast Duck Burger. It was brilliant and while pricey for $16, came with chips and a salad and was definitely filling (and they weren't skimpy on the duck either).

Staff were attentive and helpful in giving recommendations, the lotus chips were good but would steer clear of the popcorn chicken (the price is not worth for the portion). Definitely will be returning here!!
Vondelicious
As the name may suggest, the star of the show here is the duck- and more specifically- roast duck with menu items ranging from just plain roast duck to the classic peking duck pancake to duck burgers. And if the amount of duck is a little overwhelming, there's also other some chicken and pork on offer too. Think classic Cantonese BBQ. But jazzed up.

After unsuccessfully finding a table at Spice Alley, we ended up on the doorstep of neighbour restaurant Holy Duck, a newly opened restaurant and got ushered in by the friendly and persistent staff at the door. The concept looked really promising, with the celebration around duck as a meat in modern cuisines. There also isn’t an asian restaurant that focuses specially on specialising in duck and the name and restaurant decor is attractive and a little bit quirky.
