We had a group of 14 for a hens party and got the $30 set menu. The waiters were incredible at covering dietary requirements and checking in with us about what pizzas we wanted. On top of that, the food was absolutely delicious!
First time dining at the new Surry Hills location. It's now a couple of blocks further up on Crown Street away from the previous location on the corner of Oxford and Crown Streets but there's still the same great food, service and atmosphere. The $25 all-you-can-eat-pizza is an easy option for groups, and it's worth noting that all dietary requirements are catered for which was appreciated by the vegetarians in our group. There's a great selection of pizzas, and a favourite was the Pescatore with whole prawns marinated in garlic with calamari, parsley and cherry tomatoes.
Wow, wow, wow! The BEST Italian I have ever been to!! Amazing food, amazing service and my new favourite restaurant! Lovely decor. Dim lighting and upbeat music. We had the carmelised garlic bread, caprese salad, the grazer vegan salad, vegan ragu and a lamb pizza. Utterly sensational! Washed down with espresso Martinis.....winning!!
I have to say this is the second time I've been to a Mad Pizza e Bar (the first time was at Maroubra) and it never disappoints! The funghi pizza was amazing, with truffle oil and cheeses. Also the simple dishes like the broccolini and kale salad was delicious. They also served our bill with lemoncello shots which was such a fantastic surprise (especially for the birthday girl)! I would highly recommend this place. No faults whatsoever. Service, food and location were amazing.
Amazing food... Service... And a great venue with greater menu. Must go. Their vegan pizzas have all the taste of pork and meat but no meat. Deserts are amazing and innovative
Great pizza and atmosphere. Had a table booked for 18 and was warmly assisted and serviced. Was fascinated at how garlic bread was served as a pizza and overall was a fantastic experience

I love this place, not the best pizza in town but definitely the tastiest thin crust pizza in town.
Toppings are always fresh and in abundance, very minimal use of cheese allowing for the real ingredients to shine.
Service is polite and fast, with atmosphere of great DJ music to keep you entertained
Recently tried out mad pizza in surry hills, they were very accommodating fitting all 13 of us in on a massive table in their courtyard. The even let us split the bill!! I tried about four different pizzas buy the nicest by far was the 4 cheese pizza, it was on a white sauce base and was absolutely delicious!!
Desperate for a venue to accommodate a last minute group booking on a busy Saturday night I was incredibly grateful when Mad Pizza was happy to oblige. Offering a casual yet trendy vibe and a varied, well priced menu Mad Pizza is the perfect choice to suit even the most diverse of groups. I ordered the lamb, chickpea and feta salad and was very content. The slow cooked lamb was tender and generous and the feta added a nice saltiness. Overall a really yum dish. I was also impressed with the cocktail list which included an array of jugs and individual drinks. I ordered the coconut margarita was was not disappointed. Another factor that I must commend Mad Pizza on is their accommodating service- not only were they more than happy to let us split the bill between the 12 of us but they even treated us all to free limoncello shots.
My partner and I ordered two pizzas, one being the Funghi, other being a chicken one (can't recall exact name!) We requested the thin and crispy crust and boy did it deliver. These pizzas were bursting with colour and taste. The base was so crispy, non oily. Really amazing. Only down side for some may be the music volume, as this place doubles for a bar.
Nice place with a cool relaxed vibe. There was one waiter that night looking after everyone and he was so friendly with great hair! I highly recommend the meatballs and the porkies pizza. Get the romano as its super crunchy and thin.
I highly recommend Mad Pizza E Bar Surry Hills for group dinners because of their great service, food & atmosphere.
I booked a table for 25. We sat in the function room decorated with fairy lights and bright art- secluded from the main area so there's privacy. The service was impeccable and so was the food. All toppings were fresh- from experience with the Amalfi pizza.
I suggest trying these delicious cocktails:
- Passionfruit & Elderflower
- Jacks Apple and Almond Sour
Can't wait to come back and try more of their food and drinks.
Great pizza. Really fresh quality ingredients and nice thin bases. Vibe was really laid back and could go here for any occasion be it groups, dates or just drinks. Service was great and even got a free limoncello shot at the end of our dinner. Will be back !
Good pizzas!
Google and zomato show 2 mad pizza e bars in surry hills: one at randle st and one at crown st. Landed at randle street one but it was closed. Then went to crown st. Not a fancy decor kinda place, but is a pleasant cafe type. Ordered 2 pizzas:
1.Demario: sweet but great crust
2. Otropo without pineapple: great choice
3. Salted caramel tart: was the highlight of the meal. It was served with whipped cream and coffee ice cream
4. Jug of watermelon spiritz and spiced blueberry mojito were so so.
The staff was really nice. It was my friends birthday so they even gave us free shots.
good atmosphere and great tasting pizza.. Ultra thin and crusty base with a choice of wholemeal 👍 leaves no where for flavours in the topping to get lost. Cheers! 🐠
Came here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon. Food was decent, service was very good. Pizza bases are very thin, but it's advertised as 'thin healthy bases', so at least you're forewarned. Good simple place for a meal.
We were so well looked after by the team for our Friday night function. Food was delicious, and there was plenty of it.
Will definitely return.
Came here for a work dinner with 40 people and had the all you can eat meal deal which was awesome value and super delicious. Paul the manager was absolutely amazing in his service and hospitality ensuring that everyone was fed and all did try requirements met. We had the back room and it was great for a big group. The pizzas are consistently good and the salad, pasta and entree combos are super yum too. Will definitely be back!
my boyfriend brought me here the other night.
i ordered the gnocci and he ordered the quattro pizza
i immediately regretted my decision once i had a slice of his pizza
while the gnocci was good, it wasnt anywhere near as good as that pizza.
they definately know what they are doing when it comes to making pizza, especially gluten free ones so make sure you check this place out next time you are near kings cross!
The Top Line: If you’re sick of Crinitis and Dominos, give this place a try! Although it has multiple outlets, Mad Pizza e Bar did not feel like a chain restaurant. The quality of the food was top notch and I loved the variety on offer!. The Review: If sounds like something out of Alice in Wonderland … I dunno, I guess I’m just thinking of ‘Mad Hatter’, but the decor of this restaurant is very comforting, with the red and white table clothes, dim lighting and tea candles on each table. I can see this as a great venue for groups (long benches on offer), families, small groups or a romantic date ;) It was tucked away nicely in the side of Surry Hills but very conveniently at the bottom of any hill in that area and super close to Central station!
Pretty sure this place has moved to 241 Crown Street unless it's a new store. Happened to pop in by chance last week while my partner and I were in Sydney for a long w/end. Had a craving for pizza and picked the first place we saw and man this place didn't disappoint. Delicious thin crusty base, tasty toppings & great service. We had the fungi pizza and the pumpkin & rocket pizza washed down with 2 Sailor Jerry's on the rocks to keep the Sydney cold at bay...awesome.
Delicious pizza and garlic bread ! Yum
Pizza is awesome! Never disappoints! However never order a side salad.. Waste of money a few leaves with dressing for $15. Hardly a salad
MAD PIZZA!. Delicious tasting pizza. Best so far that I've had in Sydney :) The ingredients are fresh and they have an awesome range of pizzas to choose from. Staff are really friendly. Try this place, it's a must.
A bit of fun, cheap tasty food. More for a younger crowd, came here for a birthday party and i have to say that for $25 a head, its pretty damn good value. The music is blaringly loud, so this place isn't for everyone. Service was good, pizzas are thin and crispy, i particularly enjoyed the margarita pizza, and meatball. The others toppings were average, the rocket and pumpkin salad was a tasty mix and provided a nice break from the pizzas. Don't come here expecting gourmet pizzas, but what they do they do it relatively well if you like the thin super crispy type pizzas, (although one ended leaned more towards burnt than cripsy), its really just a bit of fun and good atmosphere at great value. Cant complain about that.
Spaghetti Marinara. Spent the evening indulging seafood pasta and truffle proscuitto macaroni cheese. All dishes were very tasty . Great atmosphere and friendly service.
Will be back .
I loved it! The garlic bread was as soft as a cloud, definatly would recommend the otropo pizza! Great variety of beers and we also had a delicious pomegranate margarita jug! Staff were excellent and I loved the setting! Dj was great too! Not too loud! Also loved drawing all over the table!

One of my favourite places to eat in Sydney. A DJ in a restaurant, paper table cloths with crayons, genius! Always great service, great food, amazing atmosphere.
Nice place, great pizza and friendly service. You can't ask much more of a pizza place that provides their own dj! Lunch time specials are great here also.
Amazingly thin crust and wonderfully flavorful pizza. Wish we had pizza this good in the States.
Great atmosphere, bargain lunch $10. At lunctime you can have ANY pasta or ANY pizza (6") for $10. Had the bestselling linguini with prawns, roasted tomato, mint, chilli & ricotta. Every mouthful was absolutely delicous. Generous serving and so fresh. Excellent value. My companion had the pasta with the meatballs & tomato sauce - also fantastic. The pizzas also looked very fresh and had the very thin crust that I like best. I will come back to this place for sure, I loved the cosy atmosphere with the rustic decorations. Great place to come on a cold winter's day. I also like that there is water and glasses already on your table and you don't have to ask! Highly recommended.
They are not sure of their location?. The pizza is ok, and the atmosphere is great, but can someone tell the owner 241 Crown Street is in DARLINGHURST, not Surry Hills. Check a map, or white pages so you don't confuse people.
Good service, good food. We were up from Melbourne and went here with our 8 and 10 year old boys, they loved the pizza and we the pasta. We were made to feel very welcome, service was friendly and prompt. Great atmosphere and very tasty food. I had the fettucini pasta with tomato, onions and parmesan and it was delicious, the pasta was fresh and not dried. The four of us eat and drank for under $100. I'd certainly come back again if in town.
Great Spot for 21st!!!. Just a big thanks to the team at Mad Pizza's who all were wonderful for Livs 21st last Friday. The back room was a great spot for 21 guest, the food enjoyed by all and the team were all fab and helpful all night long. The $24 jugs of cocktails went down a treat and were a great compliment to the super thin pizzas.
Love this place. Great little joint with real character created by the choice of furniture, little lights everywhere and music. Pizza is fantastic - eaten there three times and had takeaway (collect) once. If you like thin crust and great toppings, you must try this place. I'm surprised it's not up there in the best pizza places featured in Time Out.
We discovered this place today. We liked the pizzas and the beer. The waitress was really nice and friendly. Maybe we will come back again for other dishes.
Great location though they will be moving soon. Lunch is the best. Very reasonably priced. Dinner is slightly pricier but not so much compare to other chain pizza stores. The GF crust taste lovely. Customer service has been great tge few times we went. I would recommend this place or its new location.
Let’s start with my partner saying: ‘this is the pizza place but not the pasta place’. And this is exactly right! Pasta was a bit of disappointment . I mean it was ok but I expected from Bolognese to be something different than just a beef mince with tomato sauce. But pizza here is really awesome. Guys doing experiments with ingredients like adding pumpkin to pizzas which is interesting but I prefer classical Italian which are exceptional here. Also it’s nice to get relaxed with a jar of pitch sangria - not Italian but cool!
I just love this place. Make sure to check the EatClub app and see if you can secure a discount. They have pizzas on special at the moment. Omg so good the chorizo and pumpkin. Yum. I love this place. Just got back from Italy but pizza tastes better at home. Ha ha
Garlic bread was SO good. Pretty decent pizza but it would be great if there was more of a selection of vegetarian pizzas. Fast service.
Good pizza and pasta place with range of craft beverages and wines, and interesting specials on the blackboard. Not exceptional perhaps but definitely above average.
American style pizzas in a bar setting. Overall a nice pizza with a decent selection of alcohol. Service is good but a bit slow.
We had some hiccups with ordering. The poor waitress was on her trial so kept missing the rest of our orders, not hearing us correctly, etc, which we can't really fault the restaurant on. The pizzas came out with missing toppings however they fixed them up and made us new pizzas which was lovely. Big ups for serving Notzarella, the best dairy-free vegan cheese on the market!
