Wonderful! It’s a bit shower outside in the morning. If u want to drink there remember to ask for the glass cup when u order! I would come back again!
It is another famous cafe on instagram. It is famous for the red velvet latte and pancakes.
As a foodie we sit outside to get more natural light for good photos. The ambience inside is a little dark, with a big LOCAL text on the wall.
🍓[Red velvet latte] $4.5
Very beautiful latte art. The latte is great.
🥞[Red velvet pancake] $20
It’s tedious to have pancake without any dressing. So they provided the condensed milk, which makes it much better. Again the food itself is looks super nice.
🐷[Crispy pork belly] $21
Personally I would say the outer skin of the pork belly is not crispy. But the overall it is OK.
The service is good. They helped us for the photos.
Red velvet latte was amazing!!! Service was really great. The staff were so lovely and Accommodating and everything was perfect. I couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Highly recommended cafe.
It's been a few years since I've been to Local Mbassy. I have fond memories of my last visit of hearty breakfasts and unique drinks. Local Mbassy is a hidden gem of a cafe located in Ultimo. The Australian Good Food Guide kindly facilitated this most recent revisit to Local Mbassy. You can read about my first visit here.
Visited this cafe around two weeks ago and it was lovely service! The staff gave us a choice of where to sit which was appreciated since it was quite a windy day so sitting close to the door would've been pretty chilly. They went to the effort of moving the table for us so that we could all sit comfortably around other customers as well.
This place has been on my to-go list for a while because of the red velvet pancakes which were really nice and not too dry as my friend commented that sometimes they tend to be. I'm not a huge dessert person but I enjoyed them!
I wasn't too into the balsamic glaze on top of the smashed avo myself but I think that was a poor dish choice on my part knowing that I like very basic brunch food. It was quite a lot of avocado and egg for one slice of bread - would've fit two slices better in my opinion.
Overall, would come again for the lovely service and I'd be keen to try other things on the menu too!

When Local Mbassy first opened in Ultimo, it was one of the first cafes in the Wentworth Park area. It quickly developed a cult following centred around their red velvet pancakes, which remain on the menu today, four years on. In the ensuing period, more cafes have sprung up in the local area, mostly at the bases of the new residential towers that make up Sydney's second most densely settled suburb (after Potts Point). Working in with the concrete jungle, the Local Mbassy team have made the most of being at the base of a tall building by creating a boiler room fit-out. It sits under a tangle of exposed pipes, with each...
Love this cafe! Never have to wait long for a table. Food is on point and beautifully presented. Love the variety of lattes here. I've tried the taro and red velvet lattes and loved both!
I love how they manage their cafe design. Starting with customer service I say its great service. From food that was the most tasty food me and my husband have ever had around prymont, with affordable price! The drink we had red velvet and taro, I hate taro but their taro latte is tasty, match my taste. I will come again and very recommend!
Brunches in Melbourne are usually crowded and some places even have very long queue, so I was quite surprised when arrived at Local Mbassy in Sydney. There was not so many people and it was not noisy. The best thing from our order must be the red velvet latte. The signature red velvet pancake look absolutely cute and tasty. But I think it should be shared since the serving size is big (we have to share between 3 girls). The crab meat Benedict is okay, but I feel like eating crab meat separately like that makes the smell become much stronger and I don't really enjoy that. But on overall this is a nice place to chill on weekend mornings with friends and family.
Really great service. Very Instaworthy dishes & coffee (red velvet?!). I had the pork belly and the salad with strawberry was a nice touch. Also wasn’t too packed for Friday work lunch.
My first experience in Sydney just went awesome with this cute little cafe. The place and the staff is undoubtedly so cute.
What I ordered:
Red velvet Pancake
The stack of three pancake with flavour of red velvet with hint of basil placed with strawberries and mounds of whipped cream served with white chocolate makes breakfast oh so perfect 👌🏻. And hence I got one more reason to love Sydney
A bit of a far travel from everywhere but definitely worth the trek. The food here has always been amazing as well as the coffee. I love their weird flavoured lattes too! Like the red velvet etc, would recommend
The boss is an accountant lol. He is lovely 😊
Red velvet cake is great and lovely. Compared with The Ground of city, I this here is better ~
And the toasted salmon with fresh baby tomatoes 🍅 is cute and tasty. The ingredients are fresh.
They are favours for matcha 🍵 latte and taro latte. No many Café has taro or matcha latte.

This cute little cafe is a little bit out of the way if you’re travelling to Broadway, across the road from Wentworth Park. It has a more quiet location away from the hustle and bustle of the shopping mall and provides a little space of relaxation. I Love the decor of this cafe, it has a cute theme and vibe to it! Now less about the look and more about the food?
The Food itself is good, and i enjoyed their red velvet latte and taro latte very much!
The Red Velvet waffles were very delicious they just lacked something creamy or juicy as the dish was a little dry, but it did include NUTELLA so i can't complain!!The Mozzarella stack was beautifully plated and tasted delicious with it's crunchy pesto with pine nuts!Overall, cute venue with lovely food!
For my full review please read my blog on the link below!!
Went on a Saturday with a few girl friends the place was pretty quite, after looking through the menu and the dishes are quite expensive and for someone who is on a budget I was only able to order a crab meat eggs benedict which pushed me back $20, food wasn't bad though, the crab meat seasoned in lemon juice i think with spinach and 2 poached eggs on a thick slice of brioche toast and bit of greens on the side. The smokey tomato hollandaise sauce was a bit of a miss in the sense that I couldn't really taste anything?! I enjoyed the dish, but felt that it was really lacking flavour. This time round it was an average experience hence an average rating, but I will return to try the red velvet pancake stack, although it looked pretty big so I'll need to share it with Sam.
Awesome breakfast and very welcoming staff!! The food is beautiful and very tasty so I highly recommend this cafe for a breakfast, brunch or lunch! Moreover Martina is just amazing
The pancakes were really good!! Soft and fluffy and the cream was a nice accompaniment but I'd personally suggest against pouring the sauce over the pancakes. We also got some crab slider thing that didn't taste the freshest, and had a significantly smaller portion size.
The shakshuka was perfect! It was flavorful and excellent. Their red velvet pancakes were pretty good as well.
I also found their service to be great! The staff took the time to find out how we found our meal.
I've been meaning to try this place out for well over a year, but because it's not on the way to anything, you really have to go out of your way to visit this place (well for most people who don't study/work in that area anyway). All I really wanted here were the red velvet pancakes. Catch ups over lunch are the best. Thanks Bitter for the bday shout!
A small cafe with great food and interesting speciality lattes. Though I've only tried the taro latte so far, it was delicious! Their specialities are red velvet pancakes and lattes - but their regular menu is just as impressive.
Visited this place with friends because I saw on IG they serve red velvet pancakes, red velvet, taro and matcha latte and a few other dishes. Since migrating here in Sydney, I have only tasted real red velvet in one of the cake shops and that was located in Mortdale. I was so excited to come to this place because I am in search of a great red velvet dish. Unfortunately, this place did not deliver. Their red velvet offerings tasted like cherry, which at some point, tasted like medicine. Real red velvet should taste like cocoa powder as how the Americans create theirs. Although food that they offer are pleasing to the eyes, another dish I have ordered, Shakshuka, lacked in seasoning. However, I was happy with my matcha latte. The servers were just a bit blase and were always in a hurry as the shop was busy. They have enough seats but it was quite cramped inside. The owner however, was very pleasant and was asking our opinion about the dishes we have ordered.

Local Mbassy is a boutique cafe situated in Ultimo serving Modern Australian cafe food paying homage to the locals of the 1920’s. We had heard great things about this place so decided to pay it a visit one weekend for brunch. We ordered three dishes to share with the first dish being their famous red velvet pancakes served with strawberries and cream. We had seen this all over instagram so were excited to try it ourselves. The pancakes were fluffy and full of red velvet flavour, nicely balanced out by the tart strawberries and light cream. This definitely lived up to our expectations!
This cafe is famous for their red velvet pancakes and this is definitely worth ordering. The pancakes were so soft and nicely paired with strawberries and cream. The coffee is also great and the friendly service will make your entire brunch experience a wonderful one!

Went on a beautiful Saturday morning in may. Only issue can be parking as a lot of it is ticketed 1 hour parking but there are a couple 2 hour spots you can find.
Had the red velvet latte, which from the look alone is worth ordering!
It's very sweet and almost has a chocolatey taste but definitely need to try once.
Ordered the buffalo mozzarella and eggs which was rather pleasing. It's fun figuring out what's egg and what's cheese on your plate and then putting it together it just melts in your mouth.
Somewhere you need to go a couple times because their menu has many gems you walk away still wanting to try!!
Had a great time at this place! Conveniently located just between UTS and Wentworth Park (where most of our exams were), my friend and I couldn't believe that we have never been here before! Their eggs benedict is my best bet, coupled with the red velvet latte. Their red velvet pancakes were amazing too! Great spot for brunch!
Love this place! Red velvet latte with a coffee shot was heavenly! My poached eggs were perfect and the salmon filled poached tomato was a pleasant surprise. Kids devoured there waygu beef burgers. Can't wait to come back!
10min walk from Central train station. They have a wide range of food, I had the red velvet waffles which was absolutely delicious and very filling. The staff were so nice and friendly. Great place to visit 👍
They are known for their red velvet pancakes - which is amazing. But their other dishes are also highly recommended- the nutella brioche with fairy floss and salmon with salad. In terms of drinks, the red velvet latte is super cute and tastes just like the pancakes. Coffee is also fantastic at this place!
You haven't lived until you've tried the red velvet pancake stack here!
A really cute neighborhood cafe with trendy chilled vibes. The brunch game here is so strong.
First up French toast. Fingers of brioche stuffed with warm Nutella and then served with Persian fairy floss, vanilla bean cream, strawberries and edible flowers. Looks stunning and tasted even better.
Red velvet stack - the prettiest stack of pancakes separated each layer by more strawberries and that delicious vanilla bean cream. Then has a white choc sauce to pour over the top for that finishing touch!
Can't rave enough about this place.
The local M'bassy is a funky small café located in the heart of Pyrmont, boasting the smell of freshly baked muffins and good coffee. The ambiance of the café is very new age with a hint of vintage charm. The staff are always smiling and having a good time while there is music playing softly in the background so that you can still have a conversation.
We went for breakfast and grabbed the vegetarian shakshuka with eggplant, zucchini, potato roti, poached eggs in spicy tomato sauce and the red velvet waffles with candied pork belly and maple syrup. The Shashuka was cooked nicely with a rich sauce full of flavour. The velvet waffles were delicious however we were quite surprised by the pork belly as we were after bacon, it was different to say the least and we did not enjoy the combo. The change was interesting however we would have preferred to have kept it to the menu or informed of this change before the order was put through. The dishes are well presented and quite filling, but the prices are above average so keep that in mind.
been dying to try this place out after looking at instagram , this place is known for their famous red velvet dessert. i got to say, they have definately live up to their reputation. The redvelvet pancake was absolutely delicious and the latte was quite unique. The whole atmosphere and vibe are really cozy , will recommend everyone to try at least one.

Cute little cafe situated on the corner across wentworth park, it was half full when we arrived 1 early sunday morning.
Spanish omelette 3.25/5, your standard omelette imported from spain, too hard to mess this dish up.
Glass n ramekin 3.75/5, we didnt think scones with jam will work with (house cured?) smoked salmon with wasabi guaco n cream cheese but we were wrong. Try both in a single mouthful please 😜
Mozza poached eggs 3.5/5, i luv the poached eggs w pesto sauce spread on wafer thin brioche bread. Not a fan of mozza cheese though but that's a personal pref. Told them to lose the sun dried tomatoes, another pet peeve of mine.
Crabby benedict 3.25/5, quite a generous serving of crab meat on half of the muffin, missus didnt quite like the strong aroma of crab but i didnt mind it. In fact, with the smoked hollandaise sauce, they marry well. Dont listen to the missus 😆
What a delightful little discovery. I don't like coffee (I know right what foodie doesn't like coffee) but this (coffee-less) red velvet latte was perfection. Super impressed with the creative breakfast selection. No avo on toast to be found here. I did the pesto and goats cheese smoked salmon with toast and poached eggs. Every bite was heavenly
5/5 for taste and presentation. Ordered that famous red velvet pancakes, waffles, latte and the matcha latte. Absolutely amazing. The mascarpone cream was heavenly and was a perfect match with the strawberries. The red velvet latte was like a slightly sweeter version of a hot chocolate but was still good and nice and unique. The wait wasn't long and the service was excellent.
A beautiful place, very contemporary and modern at the same time. We came here for an early saturday brunch and the place was packed! Had to wait for a good 15 minutes before sitting down. We ordered the red velvet pancakes, buttermilk chicken burger, red velvet frappe and a cappuccino. The food was unbelievably good. It looked beautiful and tasted brilliantly as well. Loved the coffee too.
love the atmosphere & interior here. the food & drink were excellent! fast & friendly customer services! price was ok. will come again!!!!!!
Came here and tried the famous red velvet pancakes and they were delicious! Very sweet, I shared them with a friend and that was enough for me. It comes with a white chocolate sauce and the biggest strawberries you've ever seen. The pancakes themselves are light and so tasty, it really does taste like a red velvet cupcake! We also has the prawn and avocado toast which was nice but not as spectacular as the pancakes. The red velvet latte was nice at first but just became way too sweet after a while. I will return for the pancakes!
Admittedly I had my doubt about the location of this cafe. Situated right on the busy intersection of Wattle and William Henry Street, it doesn’t necessarily resembles European al fresco dining culture. However once you step inside, the aroma of coffee beans, the colossal wall painting, the overhead exposed plumbing pipes, and the cronuts display make you completely oblivious of the traffic out there. I was on a mission to try their new spring menu, more specifically their red velvet pancake. I am obsessed with anything red velvet; at Local Mbassy you can order the red velvet either in pancake or waffles. I opted for the former. It is a three level stack with fresh strawberry and mascarpone between each layer. A seperate jug of white chocolate and condensed milk mixture is to be poured over the pancake for extra sweetness and moisture. I am happy to announce that this pancake is not only a jaw-dropping beauty but also very tasty. The pancake is soft and fluffy, the mascarpone and white chocolate sauce is mildly sweet and creamy. I didn’t think I could finish the whole plate but I demolished it in no time. It was that good! It’s not often you come across food that looks as good as it tastes, but this red velvet pancake is definitely worth the trip and lives to expectation.
I have seeing the red velvet latte from facebook and instagram so often, I was so interested how it tastes.
Then I went there...
It was so amazing place to have brunch or lunch.
Firstly the red velvet latte tastes so good!! Just a little bit too sweet.
Prawn and the mashed avocado tasted nice, but I was expecting a little bit more of avocado because I'm the Avocado Lover!
Crispy pork belly tasted nice but too much fat, and also for the side salad which is made of carrot, I will suggest to use sweet potato or pumpkin to instead of carrot because not many people like the taste of carrot like my girlfriend she didn't touch that side after her first try.
The red velvet waffles with bacon are so good, highly recommend ! Bacon is crisp and not salty combined with the waffles , so good !!
Crab Benedict - never seen this at any cafe in Sydney before, and it was amazing! Really interesting menu options, you can tell that they are actually well thought out and not just a gimmick. Friendly staff and relaxed atmosphere also help!
I'd seen @localmbassy popping up in my explore feed for months with their red velvet inspired menu, little did I know they did burgers too!
Wagyu Burger: double grilled wagyu beef, cheddar cheese, lettuce, tomato, mbassy onion and tomato chutney. I added bacon because America has 52 states and Australia only has 7 🍔
Whilst currently not on the menu, this double may be appearing soon as the crew like to keep their menu fresh. I think next time I'd switch the T&O chutney for BBQ too 👊
The INSTA famous RED VELVET PANCAKES. Stack so famous I just had to try it, 3 tiers of soft Red Velvet Pancakes, with Vanilla Bean Mascarpone, Fresh Strawberries & Creamy White Chocolate waiting to be drizzled.
The Palate: soft chocolatey pancakes are moist & fluffy and sweetened with the glossy white chocolate sauce, to finish the strawberries add a sweet zing. Pancakes I would happily return for.
We also indulged in RED VELVET LATTE's. it's like a Red Velvet Cake liquified✨👅 Flavours of Chocolate and Creamy Vanilla are balanced and not overly sweet, it's a latté lovers dream dressed in red.
Even though @localmbassy were chocoblock full on the day I visited service was inviting, quick and friendly. Honestly, are a true class act which is a rare find in the Sydney cafe scene.
Located near Wentworth Park, this small cafe had throngs of people lining up to try their delicious food. It was very busy and because I came on a whim on my own I managed to snag a stool at their counter which was perfectly fine to sit at.
The service was ever so friendly and immediately felt welcomed in this buzzing cafe.
The main reason I wanted to visit was firstly for the Red Velvet Pancakes and secondly for their Red Velvet Latte. Neither disappointed me. The pancakes were stacked together with mascarpone and strawberries sandwiched in between. It came with a jug of white chocolate sauce. It didn't need too much of it (not a white chocolate fan myself) as it was quite sweet). The pancakes were delicious but could've been slightly less dry. When I first got the latte it was pretty as a picture and thought it would be overly sweet but I was wrong on that part. It was nice and smooth and tasted fantastic.
Looks like their signature items shined and can see the popularity behind this place.
This place was beautiful.
We arrived for brunch on a busy Saturday morning and they put us on a wait list due to how full it was.
I immediately got a text confirming I was on the waitlisted and within a few minutes another to say we were third in the list and we should make our way back. By the time we got back and final text was sent advising my table was ready.
I just had to try this red velvet latte! (I ended up buying a second one as takeaway!)
Our breakfast was beautiful and it was no issue to add avocado. The service was also great.
I'd absolutely recommend it!
Service is very friendly and fast, however during rush hour in the morning there was 6+ person queue for coffee.
The red velvet pancakes were yummy and soft. The white chocolate sauce was very sweet so I'd sample a patch before pouring the whole lot.
The wagyu burger was a good size and the patty was cooked well. It came with thick-cut chips which were crunchy.
The crab Benedict was a very small portion. The taro latte had a good subtle flavour.
Red velvet ninja!!!
Red velvet lovers will love this place, red velvet pamcakes and redvelvet waffles!!!
The waffle and bacon was bomb! It reminded me of Melbournes cafe, we also ordered 6 lattes to try haha the regret of lactose child i am.
Small cafe serving up pretty food, great location close to the park.
Until next time .... Keep eating!!!!

Local Mbassy is probably one of the hottest brunch cafes right now on social media. Everyone is going crazy over their red velvet goodies!
I was dying to try this place and I finally got the chance last week. For drinks, I started off with a funky taro latte and red velvet frappe. Both were very delicious and unique. For the meals, we opted to go with the burger and famous red velvet pancakes. The pancakes were good, but didn't give us that 'wow' reaction. The burger was not too bad.
Anyways, Local Mbassy is a very nice place and you should check this place out if you're at the CBD.
We went on the rainy day, the table inside already full so we decide to sit outside and the staff very good service, They provide everything that we need to our table. COFFEE is so nice!! I had try Special Red Velvet Latte is so amazing!! I love cocoa flavor ❤️❤️ food are good as well. We very appreciated their service!!
Another day in local mbassy. We had been waiting on short queue, since its on weekend. Fyi they might have waiting list on board.
Weve tried the winter menu, nutella nest. Simply mixed between brioche, nutella, fairy floss and mascarpone. Really recommended for sweet tooth lover.
Price was...
A cute little cafe in Ultimo. We recently went there for a quick Friday lunch. The staffs were very friendly and the food was great! We didn't have the famous relvet pancakes but I did try the red velvet latte. It was good but a bit too sweet for me. I had Mr McQuack for brunch and it was good, the duck was a bit dry though.

With a fast growing reputation for good coffee and exceptional food, this place doesn't displease.
Food was well presented along with great service. They're not far from hitting the high mark, but when it comes it will be to applause
I went to this place after seeing a few cool Insta pics of some amazing red velvet pancakes. Anyway got there on a rainy Sunday and there was a little bit of a wait, which was fine. The first waitress had terrible customer service and pretty much no idea. When arriving she said "there's no space", no good morning, sorry it's a bit of a wait blah blah (luckily I'm a polite person so was super polite). When a table became free, she offered it to a couple that walked through the door, failing to remember I was waiting. Luckily another lovely waitress was more with it and recognised the error (I made no complaint) and she directed the table to me. The other couple realised and was no dramas to them, but it could be a problem to some customers these days.
Was seated at my table and the theme of the place is rustic with displays of bakery goods and flowers on the table.
There's quite an extensive menu but I knew what I wanted to order - the red velvet latte - it was a pink latte, a bit sweet and delicious. They also had matcha lattes. I also got the red velvet Pancakes. Three stacked fluffy red pancakes with strawberries, buttercream and sugar dust. A very nice dish and not too sweet. I'm pretty sure everyone goes there to get them.
I also got the scotch egg, two eggs - one open and the other closed for presentation. I cut the second open and the yolk oozed out. it was surrounded by Wagyu meat and a crumb. Accompanied by a potato croquette, rocket and a very tasty capsicum sauce. Nice dish - I couldn't eat everything so took The leftovers home in a takeaway box. The other waitress was lovely, a little too much use of the words "darling and lovely", but at least she had good service skills. She should do the welcoming on the door.
-Hot chocolate was a little bitter at the bottom
- red velvet Latte was good enough with flavor of strawberry I think?
- Full English Brunch was ok
- “Signature dessert” red velvet pancake worth trying cod it's amazingly pretty-looking and the taste was ok
Typical hipster cafe set up - exposed concrete floor and walls, generally mismatched seats including the obligatory stools with bicycle pedals.
Friendly, attentive and attractive wait staff. Don't be a wowser about that observation. They know what they're doing.
Good coffee that came out promptly.
Menu looked pretty interesting, but I went the safe option of a shakshuka, I have it whenever it's on the menu and use it as my barometer of a venue's food quality.
Alas I regret it, it was one of the more boring shakshuka I've had, no real spice or flavour to speak of. The sauce wasn't too watery so I was expecting a richness that just wasn't there. It's also expensive considering there's no meat.
The menu states it comes with flat bread yet it came out with normal thick cut bread. It wasn't bad, but it's a misstep when menus say one thing and it gets substituted without a heads up.
Local Mbassy gets a 3.5 because overall it's good, just needs to adjust the approach to flavour and detail.
This is highly recommended. Had been here for a few times and it's really a great experience all the time. Red velvet pancakes is a must as it taste amazing! Ambience is average but food is great! service is great too!
We went on a Sunday for lunch - surprisingly easy to get a seat; quiet and relaxing for a Sunday. We ordered the cha cha bowl (a porridge of chia and quinoa) and the Nutella cigars (French toast with Nutella and Persian fairy floss on top). Also a cup of the red velvet latte. The latte was ok - couldn't taste the coffee as the vanilla flavor was overpowering. Nevertheless, what an unusual and unique menu! I will definitely try the red velvet pancakes next time!!
Me and a friend came here for a sweet time. The restaurant was small and cozy, whilst the food was delicious. I had ordered the blue meringue brioche and my friend ordered red velvet pancakes. What I wasn't expecting was the sheer size of each meal. While it was value for the price, it was quite a lot to handle on your own unless you can eat a lot, especially the brioche. But overall the venue possessed a nice ambience and delivered quick service.
Love the local mbassy. Great food with great service. So many amazing things on the menu. All the staff are super friendly. The cafe has an awesome vibe :)
We ordered the full English breakfast, red velvet pancakes, matcha green latte and flat white. We didn't quite enjoy the English breakfast as much as the red velvet pancakes. The pancakes were light and fluffy, not too dense or heavy on the stomach. The popcorn was not as crispy as we'd like it to be but the berry cream and jam helped to make the pancakes less sweet. Would recommend the pancakes! Service was good and fast. Thumbs up to the staff 👍🏼 Overall this place is good but if you wanna stay around for a chat, it wouldn't be the best because the music was a bit too loud.

Good, friendly service. A nice atmosphere with park across the road. A lovely dining experience. I’ll be back for sure.
Very nice place with delicious spanish omelette, vibrant environment and friendly staff🙂🙂.
Thanks chef make our day👍👍👍
A family run, hidden spot on the corner of wentworth park. Service was great. Their hot taro drink is delicious, the red velvet pancakes were beautifully presented and really tasty. They do a decent full english too! The whole brunch menu sounded awesome so we'll be going back to sample some more!

Overall, I really enjoyed my revisit of the Local Mbassy. I'd definitely be a regular if I lived nearby. The menu has so many options and everything is of high quality. I recommend ordering the Meatball Shakshuka as it would be very satisfying in this cooler weather. It's delish.
This place was so cute and refreshing. The food was cooked just like we asked and decorated beautifully! I fell in love with red velvet lattes here! It is a small place, so big groups may be ab issue.
