Review Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe - Sydney

Miss Deliziosa
Slow customer service despite not being overly busy. Had to ask twice to get the table wiped down even though there was adequate amount of staff around, we also gave at least 20mins wait before asking for the rest of our order (which was a premade brownie which only required slight reheating). Unfortunately the brownie was also dry & more of a cake, the lemon type sauce on the plate did not go with the brownie at all as well. Coffee wasn’t too bad but the brownie made my partner & I sick afterwards. Very disappointing experience & will not be back.

Mango Vanilla Egg & Mocha @guyliancafe Darling Harbour, Sydney😀 On one of our visits to the City, we went to the Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe at the Darling Quarter. I tried their special mango vanilla egg dessert & it not only looked amazing but tasted amazing too!😀 The mango flavour was delicious😋 A beautiful Cafe with decadent desserts & drinks. If you are in the Darling Quarter area, definitely go & visit this cafe for their specialty desserts & drinks.

Great food. The shakes were delicious and the breakfast was really good as well. The Belgian chocolates were nice. The ice cream that came with the waffles was really tasty. Great place to have breakfast or a snack.

Love the ambience. Great service and lovely food. The cakes are amazing. Love the hot chocolate and other savoury items are quite good too.

Cafe located beside the kids playground, great place to relax after spending the entire afternoon outside. Chocolates & coffee were the best combination of pick-me-ups after a tiring day!

A lovely spacious cafe. Their hot chocolate drinks are great and they have a decadent display of desserts. Perfect on the weekend. The staff are very friendly and helpful!

Fantastic cafe with awesome atmosphere. Great service and delicious cakes however, prices are on the more expensive side. Out door sitting so if you have kids, you can watch them play in the water playground just on the other side of the pathway

Enjoyed eating breakfast here with kids 10 & 13. Lovely service and table overlooking the Darling Playground. Highly rate for the generous serving sizes (BIG mug of delicious hot chocolate) and waffles with fruit. Absolutely worth it! Excellent menu options for simple or fussy eaters too. Will visit again when in Sydney.

Came here a few times and the chocolate never fails to amaze me. Had ice cream this time, I wish there was more flavours I could choose from besides the set 3 in this dish but still enjoyed it.

Wow... enjoyed the shake and banana and chocolate milkshake and chocolate fondant...cake.
Enjoyed the ambience and staff very friendly.
Good to relax after enjoying the scenic views of operah and bridge.
Loved it.

We have a great chat here and tasty chocolate as the name said, will be back if we are around next time

Came for breakfast. We had 2x bacon egg rolls, chicken/brie sandwich and a salmon baguette. For the price that we paid, the food was pretty disappointing. The bacon and egg rolls were reheated (I believe) and the sandwiches were bland, the salmon had a really strong fishy smell. On a more positive note, I can definitely recommend the coffee and hot chocolate.

It’s been a few years since I’ve been here and I’ve got to say, I can still remember how good it was.

I am overdue to come back for desserts again,
Quality of chocolate cannot be matches elsewhere

I had an iced mocha. It had awesome chocolate flavour but I couldn't taste any coffee. Cream is optional (which I didn't get). there's also a scoop of ice cream in the drink. Friendly staff. Plenty of seating indoors

Visited darling harbour branch. There nothing can get wrong with chocolate and then you have guylian making it better. Ordered waffle and mango, chocolate shake which were much to mark. Waffle were cruchny with fresh friuits and cream.

Went with 2 friends to get some icecream to go. Server takes order then tells me to stand anywhere but to kitchen to wait for it. I wait 10 minutes while the same man serves other people ignoring me. After a while he said he forgot about me ans gets me icecream. During this period my friends got tired and sat down, so I join them. The server then tells me to not eat the icecream in a cup because it looks cheap (paraphrased) and tells me he'll get me a bowl instead. My friends stare at each other in shock while I wait the extra few minutes for my icecream.

Place prefers to offer the illusion of good service but doesnt value individual experience. Icecream was decent though. Vanilla bean was nice.

Bought this mocha from this place.
Today I’m craving about the sweetness and Guylian is tight the first thing that’s pops up into my mind.
They are using the fines Belgium chocolate, and you should know by know that they are little bit more expensive than your regular coffee shop.
If you want the best you have to pay the price.

Nice place to go to for dessert but it is definitely pricey for what it’s worth. They’ve got pretty nice tarts and cakes! But just super pricey

🍫This is a nice place to hang out in a prime location.
🍫I love Guylian chocolate and would regard it as my favourite chocolate. I also love food and sweet things, pastries, and chocolate!!
🍫But what I cannot comprehend is how I would spend 17 dollars for a cake that would, at a normal patisserie, retail for about 9 dollars. Considering it’s more than likely a boxed cake that has been sitting in a freezer out back, I cannot justify that. (Coming from someone who used to work in pastry kitchens for a 5 star hotel and knows how this stuff works).

🍫It’s prices are high but their menu is interesting. I had a caramel banana hot chocolate (9$) which came in a metal jug and had 2 cups. It was rich and I couldn’t finish all of it but enjoyed it nonetheless.

🍫I liked how they sold the chocolates a piece each as you got to try an individual pieces ( and got to eat without having to spend ridiculous prices).

🍫The atmosphere is classy and the staff are extremely polite and well informed about the menu.

Came for breakfast. My friend and I shared the eggs Benedict with bacon. It was pretty average. We also shared the omelette. The first time it came to the table, there was a hair in it. The second time, the omelette was raw. They took it off the bill. The coffee was nice but slightly cold. The chocolate was lovely. I'd be keen to try their desserts but unfortunately I can only go by their savoury.

Eh. It was ok. Serviceable. The smashed avocado was fine...a bit cold and nothing which jumped out and said LOVE ME. The hot chocolate was a decent hot chocolate but really pricey at $9. Won’t go back...will forget it pretty quickly other than the nice setting.

This is a haven for belgian chocolate lovers , especially the guylian brand . The ultimate thing to try here is the hot chocolate which comes in 4 different flavors. The hot choclate can easily be drank by 2 people as the serving is quite big. There is a also a display for chocolate and sweets. I should mention that Guylian also serves meals and drinks which makes it ideal for breakfast or lunch

Overall, the service was spectacular. The staff were lovely and pointed us towards a table upon arrival. I ordered the mixed berry tart and it was delicious. Not to mention one of my acquaintances (who's a picky eater to say the least), ate her entire serving of dessert. From the teas to the cakes, this place is great. The only downside is that the items were on the pricey side; $13.00 for a single tart. But, for special occasions during the festive season, this place is the place to go for dessert!

I really enjoy coming here after a long walk around darling harbour or having dinner nearby. I always order the dark chocolate dip with fresh fruit. The
The waffle is quite light and not too sweet. Dip it in chocolate and ice cream, yumm!
The staff are friendly and professional.
H2FOODIE
Expensive desserts but that is too be expected for its location. Was surprised to find that the cake came with a scoop of ice cream. The hot chocolates are beautiful and actually reasonably priced.
Frankiieshungrytummy
Quite yummy treats here but a little bit overpriced.
The hot chocolate is super bitter which I really didn't expect!
Service was okay but could be better seeing as it's located in Darling Harbour; a lot of tourists would be visiting.
Interior was decorated nicely but the aircon is too cold.
Definitely support this brand because of its care for seahorses which is always lovely when you see a company giving back - especially to animal charities.
Would recommend this place to family and friends as the desserts are quite lovely but could definitely use an improvement in terms of customer service as it seems to be the same each time I've come to visit.

My friend and I had to wait a long time just to be given the menu. And then another 10 minutes before we had to flag a staff down, only to be told "I'll be right back" and then watch him go take the order for a group that came in after us!!!

Another 15 minutes later we flagged down a waitress to take our order. When I asked for the dark chocolate raspberry cheesecake, she coldly snapped "we don't have cheesecake" and stood there as if to rush us to make a second choice.

We said we would have a think about it, and she rolled her eyes and walked away.

Everything is over priced here, coupled with extremely poor service = not worth it. Better spend your money elsewhere.
FoodLuva
Wasn't too bad, but not too good either. Perhaps I had high expectations getting a mocha from a chocolate shop, but wasn't any better than the usual - which is why I typically don't order them. The baby chino was very basic as well (I didn't taste that, haha), but my kid gets them all the time and he knows!
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
This particular chain store is located in Darling Quarter surrounded by a few cafes/restaurants either side of it. The service here is friendly and welcoming.

Unfortunately the drinks seem a bit overpriced for what it is. We had a Guylian Mocha ($6.50) and an English Breakfast Tea ($5). They tasted okay. The Strawberry Tart ($13) was very overpriced for what it was. The pastry was soft and strawberries were slightly acidic. It must've been sitting in the cabinet for a while. I have definitely had better strawberry tarts previously for cheaper.
Brave Eat
Great place to hangout but not to eat to be honest I was shocked by their hard as rock waffles and tiny fruits.. their drinks and some desserts are delicious but the waffles... also this one staff had no idea what is in the menu he couldve said Im new or somthing? He tried to pretend like he knew everything and I almost ordered the wrong drink if I haven't checked again..

Convenient location for drinks near Darling Harbour but expect tourist prices. The hot chocolate had a rich taste but didn't feel indulgent due to the thin consistency. For $9 you get a pot enough for 2 cups and a small piece of chocolate (for melting?). My friend liked her salted caramel milkshake as there was enough salt to offset the sweetness. Avoid the chai latte though. It was from a powdered mix and tasted like sugary milk. At least it came with a praline. The waffles were large but disappointingly pale, airy and lacked flavour. It also needed more chocolate dip. Service was average and we were largely left alone after our orders were taken.
Digestinator
Checked in for a praline hot chocolate here on a cold windy day. Was impressed when mug came out accompanied by a small stainless steel jug of extra hot chocolate for top up purposes. This compensated for the tourist strip pricing. Tried the coconut hot chocolate also and think it was defenitely nicer than the praline option.
Laura B
Enjoyed a deliciously rich praline hot chocolate here on a cold winters afternoon. The place was packed! We had to wait for a short time for a table. Staff was lovely, seating and serving us as quickly as they could.
Jmanchatty
had the waffles here and they are very crunchy, although it was way too crunchy, basically all crunch. way better waffle places out there imo and lindt is probably a better place for hot chocolate.
Farah Huq
This is a great place to unwind at the end of the day with everyone's favourite treat - chocolate. The place looks quite fancy and they have these decadent looking desserts in their show case up at the counter. We decided to go for opera my way along with mocha and capp for drinks. Opera my way is a sinful dessert with distinct layers of chocolates, mousses of different flavours and textures. It was not too sweet, yet quite sweet. The drinks were quite nice as well and they serve with a chocolate egg on the side. Staff were friendly and patient, so thumbs up on the customer service. The only downside is that they charge a few bucks more if you want to dine in. But that is justified if you want to opt for the fancy plating.
Debooo
We had a good time at your place. The presentation of foods and drinks were excellent but not for the hygiene. I accidentally found a red lipstick on my cup and it was not acceptable. I'm not being rude, just questioning how you actually clean and wash the stuff. Them how you perform your hygiene standard.

Cheers

Went here for waffles, the staff are friendly and the waffles were AMAZING! Haven't had delicious, fresh, crunchy and amazingly light waffles anywhere else. Was definitely blown away. Coming back for more!

Had the chocolate muffin once and latte, I believe we have the latte every single day. People say their coffee is little bitter but that's how I prefer it.

Too sweet for me.....
Too expensive....
So far I like it :)
The cafe is really big, they sell a lot of chocolate

Those Who Love To Eat
I bought my girlfriend here for her belated birthday, as I know she has a real sweet tooth but I don't know if I would instinctively choose to come here on my own accord. We ordered a coconut hot chocolate, mixed berry tart and mango and passionfruit smoothie. My smoothie was far too sweet, I don't know about the other stuff my girlfriend had. It's OK, slightly over priced for what it is.
This place now serves breakfast and lunch. It's interesting how they are branching out to the savoury side instead of strictly sticking to what they are know for... Being a dessert parlour.
Derek Lee
Stopped by darling harbour to see what was on and had a craving for dessert to treat myself for an early birthday treat. Got the fruit platter (bananas, strawberries, pineapple, and kiwi fruit) with dark chocolate dipping sauce which was runny and topped it off with banana and caramel hot chocolate with a hint of banana flavour in it and extra piece of chocolate. Was so full after the dessert and want to come here for lunch or breakfast sometime.
Starsk
The chocolate in the "chocolate dip" is of terrible quality. It's runny, oily and flavourless. Sigh disappointment for a "chocolate place" It has much to work on to even be compared to the max brenner's choc dip. The array of fresh fruits are nice however.

My hazelnut pyramid however was superb. Very light and nutty and delicious.
Ting Xu
I went there after a big dinner, so only ordered one chocolate waffle with fruit and one scoop of vanilla ice cream on it. Best waffle I've ever had, crispy at the edge yet soft in the middle.
Monica Effendy
Went here to try its breakfast. I got banana pancake with chocolate sauce and my friend got pancake wth vanilla ice cream and fruits. I think the portion is quite small compare to the price. It is alright though.

Delicious cakes and drinks. Probably more suited for the colder months where a hot chocolate and a cake keeps you toasty for a while as you wander the streets.

They have cold drinks - but being milk based are not always a good idea (we love you Ron Burgundy) in the summer.

Sitting outside watching the people walk around is a distracting way to whittle down an hour or so whilst waiting for the IMAX session.
Michelle Barnes
I never knew that Guylian could have some amazing desserts with their secret praline recipe other than just their tasty chocolates.

We had the waffles in vanilla ice cream and the Belgian chocolate sauce and a Hazelnut and chocolate pyramid.

We wiped our plates clean.

Even the coffees are infused with some chocolate.
Vishal Gohel
Desserts are better than their drinks. Obviously go for the chocolate ones but they do have some more adventurous cakes from time to time. Sometimes they miss they mark but on the whole, it's usually a good experience in there. I'm guessing the other reviews would've been more lenient if the place was a bit cheaper.

Turned up with 6 workmates for morning tea yesterday, a cold day. They wouldn't push 2 inside tables together & told us to sit outside. The outdoor heaters were on, but ineffective.

Would've been slightly better if we hadn't waited 25 minutes shivering from when we sat down to when the first coffees arrived. The drinks arrived 2 at a time, with a big delay in between. Yes, they were crowded but mornings like that and by now they should be able to deal with it. By the time the final drinks came, the first people had to leave!

Would've been slightly better if the drinks hadn't all arrived lukewarm, including the one that was requested extra hot.

Coffee was bitter & unpleasant. Very pricey compared to neighbouring places - $5 for a piccolo latte?? Maybe that's because you get a 'free' & very average chocolate with it.

Unhelpful service, slow baristas, cold bad tasting coffees, queue to pay the exhorbitant bill. We were shaking our heads at how bad at everything they were. Should've gone to the McCafe next door; next time we will!

Still on quest for finding a good hot chocolate, went to guylian. Such a perfect place to hang out with friends overseeing beautiful scenery. The service was a bit slow and was not impressed by them. The cakes tempted me to try them all but i was sold for their red velvet; which i regretted immediately.
The cupcake was not moist not rich in flavour. The only thing that i enjoyed was the guylian chocolate that they put on top of it. Period.
The whipped cream was sweet and it made the cupcake even sweeter than it should be.
The hot chocolate was good though. Rich and intense chocolate flavour and warm enough for you to sip in.

I decided to catch up with a friend for coffee (it was hot chocolate but I wanted to sound sophisticated) at Guylian Darling Harbour since I was up in Sydney for work. We met at the cafe (totally a miscommunication where we were suppose to walk there together….oopsie daisies) and it was still busy even though it was almost 10pm on a Wednesday night (Party animals woot woot!). As I waited patiently, trying not to look like a loner being stood up, I checked out the menu before my friend turned up.

I really wanted to like the place but the hot chocolate didn’t do it for me and I didn’t even finish it (WHAT??? I know right?? I always finish sweets!!). Sorry Guylian Cafe, you’re off the list…

Although the desserts here are by no means mediocre, the prices are a little excessive but somewhat understandable for a reasonably well-known chocolaterie, fortuitously located in the Darling Quarter. A slice of cake or an ice cream is about $20, whereas macarons offer somewhat better value at $2 each, especially if you're not too keen on gorging yourself on all-too-sweet desserts.

The service here varies with the server, with some waitresses consistently getting orders wrong and some waitresses being not very hospitable. However, there are some waitresses who are patient and attentive.

One thing that no one can fault the Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe is the ambience. Although perhaps too typical of places frequented only by tourists, yuppies or nouveau riche, this spacious and well lit place in the Sydney's Darling Quarter makes for a good place for an after-dinner palate cleanser or dessert or as a nice place to meet up for (expensive) coffee and sweets.

Heaven for chocolate and cake lovers. Should try the mint hot chocolate, so refreshing after long day work. The cakes really good especially the tiramisu cake. Different price for dine in and take away (take away is cheaper). But worth to try 👌🏻👌🏻👌🏻
Kevin Yong
A delightful combo dessert post dinner, with mocha and tiramisu. In the company of relatives and friends. It was a sparkling but cool evening outside. Busy at the cafe and the staff member tried her best with our dozen or more at our table. The cake was not overly sweet but just right. I loved the chocolate flavours coming out of the coffee during winter!
DroolWorthyWorld
The Opera cake was definitely presented beautifully, but for such a measly slice, $17 is rather overpriced. Sadly, the taste wasn’t there either. There was a sense that this might have been a day or two old. Not money’s worth...Although the hot chocolate was $9.00, it was money’s worth because you get a gigantic pot of hot chocolate which you can periodically use to full your smaller cup. Inside the cup, there was cute little Guylian seahorse chocolate which melted as we poured the hot chocolate over it. As you get to the bottom of the cup, the molten chocolate is still a thick delicious clump which you can scoop up with your spoon and lick clean. Absolutely delicious.
DroolWorthyWorld
The milk hot chocolate was DIVINE and was great value for money. Came in a huge metal pot to pour into a mug which contained a classic Guylian seashell chocolate. The coffee eclair was a bit dry. The Opera cake was very decadent and a bit overpriced.

Good hot hoc. Nice hot choc on offer, worth trying.

Worst service and desert ive ever had. waffle came out cold and so did the watery melted chocolate. disgusting!
Jason.spacey
Poor experience. Average at best on Good Friday 2015, waitress (Emily) clearly didn't want to be working today, didn't seem to making anyone in the store or cafe feel welcome and wasn't very good, her colleges were much better which wasn't difficult, but overall whole experience was poor, much nicer better and friendlier places to go. Oh the toilets were really filthy too don't bother
LiveLifeSydney
Another let down was the signature dessert platter we ordered, for a cafe famous for their chocolate, the platter doesn't really have that much cocoa in it, but instead it felt like what Cadbury Chocolate had become, mostly sugar and very little cocoa.
Weekendfoodescapes
Those famous shells make people drool in chocolate anticipation. A stop by Guylian Belgian Chocolate Cafe called for an array of eating of chocolate and drinking chocolate. The chocolate drinks have a nice shell hiding in the cup, rich chocolate milky goodness and then a bonus truffle chocolate for the side. A trio of chocolate if you can handle it. Prices: About $7-8 for a drink with a chocolate The chocolate world is very competitive with your zumbos (here's my review) and your Max Brenners and your Lindt Cafes (yet to blog but have been there) but it's about the different chocolate offering. I think the Guylian Cafe has a great location in Darling Harbour and those shells are symbolic of the brand. The other reviews on urbanspoon talk about poor customer service which I didn't experience (and i was with a group of 8). I think the waitress was slightly annoyed at a few people in the group for ordering water and tea but not everyone can handle the chocolate hit after a big Brazi

...you wouldn't want to miss the Guylian Chocolate Special. It comes with layers of yogurt, mixed berry fruit, raspberry sauce, chocolate milk and topped with whipped cream. On its side is a Guylian praliné chocolate. The yogurt and mixed berry fruit balance the sweetness of chocolate milk, conferring the mixture of mild sour and sweet taste.

Of course, being a notorious chocoholic, I had to choose the sweet pancake option that contained Guylian chocolate. How could I go to a chocolate cafe and have anything else? When this dish was presented in front of me at the table, it drew envious looks all around. How did it taste? Unfortunately, disappointing.
Bek
The service was quick considering it was very packed and pleasant. Apart from the prices we were very pleased with our dessert experiences!

... Guylian chocolate cafe located at the relatively new Darling Quarter dining area. Similar to the neighbouring restaurants and cafes, Guylian cafe has a modern and open design to it, which makes it easy for hours to slip by as you catch up with friends over a dessert and/or coffee. Today S went ahead with the chocolate brownie accompanied by one scoop of vanilla ice cream, while I chose to slowly start the afternoon of with a hot mocha.
Tina T
Food and Taste: I've only tried the macarons there, but it's really good quality, so if that reflects on the rest of Guylian's delicacies, then I'd have to give it top marks :) (10/10)

Service is normally quick but be strategic with which day and time you choose to visit. Weekends are normally very crowded.

Guy Lian Belgian Chocolate now has three cafes in Sydney CBD. My first experience was at the outlet in the Opera Quays, along the walkway to the Opera House, a strategic location with views of the Harbour Bridge and passing sea vehicles of various kinds. Recently I had the opportunity to check out the Darling Quarter joint, a much bigger place but with the same smiles of service and in fact more variety of offerings. I have not yet visited the third outlet at 91 George Street at the Rocks. Quality hazelnuts, cocoa butter and West African sourced cocoa beans underlie the Guy Lian product. Above image, centre, shows the a wedding portrait of Guy and Liliane Foubert, the business founders. The range of obvious products can be described as pralines, fruit mousses, milk choc, dark choc and truffles. For sit down meals and savoury stuff, you can have the choice of breakfast creations, waffles and pancakes, cookies, muffins, macaroons, bread snacks, salads and late night caps. There ar

Our mind exploded when we picked up the menu, not at the variety but at the hefty price tag. But when our delicacies arrived... it was probably worth it.
Rude customer service! The cafe is not even packed! Came straight to my table without menu, I just ordered minimal thing ie hot milk choc; mood totally ruined couldn't be bothered to spend more. When Their customer service is the worst I ever experienced amongst all other choc cafe. When choc served, the cup was just being chucked on table n the waitress just walked away with super black face. Do I owe her money?

Overpriced tea bag and beverages. Arrived to see an advertised of $9 for an iced chocolate which became $11 when we ordered because that's the cost for table service. My partner got a tea bag for $5
Total price for chocolate milk and a tea bag $16
I bought a kilo of tiger prawns for $21 today.
Won't be back

Overprice!. I don't completely dislike, they have some muffins and pastries good and in a regular price, but usually I take for take away. Yesterday I decided to sit down and I spent 29$ for a coffee and a waffle, that honestly I hope was homemade but didn't looked like that and was awful and three pieces of fruit and a scoop of ice cream. Honestly too much for the quality!
Hollowlllulu
Terrible experience. Crappy customer service, rude staff, expensive and taste ordinary. Spent 20 mins having coffee and cake int the shop. It was too long.
Miffy7
Expensive. As my friend and I had lunch a few doors down, we decided to have dessert here as it was close but it definitely was a mistake. I usually don't come here as I find it too touristy and there are better places for dessert, but with shopping bags and laziness we stepped in.

The ambience is nice and spacious and the staff are friendly but the chocolate raspberry cake that I had was rich (my poor choice), was a ridiculous price. A small slice of cake with some dollop of raspberry coulis and chocolate on the plate was $17/18!! My friend tried their coconut hot chocolate which she found too sweet.

Disappointment and one lesson learnt to never come back.
Lexus0440
Coffee is quite unsatisfied. I ordered a cappuccino. But the froth wasn't even thick enough to be an acceptable cappucino. I thought I ordered a latte or flat white not even cappucino. And the taste quite horrible because it basically just milk....
But latte art was a positive thing need to be recognised!

Average food quality and seriously over priced food

Powdered hot chocolate - yuk. Walking along darling harbour on a cold day I thought a hot chocolate from Guylian would be a nice treat. I ordered a hot chocolate to go. The service was great but almost as soon as I had finished paying, the hot chocolate was ready. When it came out so quick I knew something wasn't right. Maybe my expectations were too high, as I was paying $6 for a hot chocolate, but when it tasted like a powedered hot choclate that I make at home I immediately felt ripped off. With the variety of chocolate stores out there these days, would have thought that Guylian would pride themselves on making a quality hot chocolate with real belgian chocolate. Ill stick to Oliver Brown thanks.

It is too expensive. No worth it!

Quick service. We had great service from the beginning however we did start dessert at 6pm. The coffee eclair and enjoy in dessert contrasted yet complimented each other very well. Our first time here.

The best!!!. The chocolate bomb is the bomb!!! The hot chocolate is so hot and chocolatey, and the waffles are so light it is the perfect accompaniment to the dense ice cream and rich sauce. A plateful of goodness. And my mum says the ginger tea (without a drop of chocolate) is very nice. I don't know why she came!?!

Don't u love it when u tell the waitress ur order twice n when they get it wrong it's still ur fault n u told them different? That's what happened to out group. Greasy bacon we had to soak up with napkins. Pass on this place!
Foodislife
Awful customer service. Rude waitresses telling us that in order to eat inside we have to order at the table after we already ordered at the counter. Waitresses were laughing and telling us rudely to leave because of the $2 difference! Cannot believe it! It was 9:20pm on a Tuesday night and there were empty seats everywhere!

After we paid our bill, we realized that we been over charged and we asked for refund. After we explain to the manager that our bill isn't correct, she relied and said you should check your bill before you paid it!!! It's so hard for her to do the refund now!!! I ever been to any restaurant which has such poor service. If u planing to go there, I reckon u should have a second thought!!!

I absolutely love the deserts at guylian! It is rich and taste delicious..
I highly recommend it

BEST CHOCOLATE IN TOWN. Love this place, this has got the best chocolate in sydney.
If you love choclate and passionate about great service with great chocolates.

If your darling harbour don't forget to stop by and taste the chocolates that will brighton your mood for the rest of the day/evening

Horrible customer service. We did not see the 'wait here to be seated' sign and helped ourselves to a table. The waitress rudely told us that we needed to wait for a seat after we had already sat. To top it off there was no one else in the queue. She would not give us a menu until we stood up and went to the line. How ridiculous. Guylian should really consider hiring staff with customer service skills especially staff that are on the door. I will never go to Guylian it recommend it to anyone.
Alexcarson05
Horrible service. I went here for dessert on a weekday. The service is appalling, we waited briefly to be seated but no one came so we just sat down. The food was average and expensive but we were enjoying ourselves chatting outside. Almost immediately after the food came, we had the bill slammed on the table.

We didn't care, we just left it there since half the place was still full. About 5 minutes later the waiter came to take the bill and I said we hadn't paid yet. He says "Oh, I thought you had because everyone else has paid and left already". I didn't know what he meant until I realised that it was just our section he was talking about. He left then started to pack away the surrounding tables, dragging them against the ground making a loud annoying noise. This took him about 30 minutes until we just left. If you were going to close the section within 10 minutes, then kindly ask us to move to another section before we order. No need to be passive aggressive. Not worth it, will never go back and will caution people to avoid.

Terrible food, service and drinks at a ridiculous price.

Okay-ish. It was okay. We didn't have to wait long for our food, it was quite quick - it wasn't very busy though. I had the Guylian Pancakes with Maple Syrup and Whipped Cream - the pancakes had a stale feel to them but didn't taste stale, the maple syrup sinked into the pancakes very quickly so I had to cut a piece of pancake, pour the syrup and then quickly eat it - they weren't the best pancakes, I'd prefer McDonalds pancakes over them. I also got a hot chocolate with it, it was a bit strong but with not much flavour at the same time if that makes sense. The hot chocolate tasted like dark chocolate, and I don't like dark chocolate so I didn't like it. My two friends also got hot chocolates and the scrambled eggs with cherry tomatoes, mushrooms, spinach and toast - they said it was nice, but didn't absolutely love it. It was a nice breakfast, the food wasn't horrible, I did enjoy it but just not as much as I'd liked to and expected to. The bill came up to $60, we split it between three and paid $20 each so it didn't seem expensive but for the poor quality of the food - the price was too high.

Went here for an after dinner desert... Must say the service from the wait staff in particularly Mathew as I recall was impeccable .... A must do

Oh yes!. If you like lindt, you'll love this!
Their desserts are awesome, the coffee is great.
Can't really separate lindt vs. guylian, two different styles of chocolate, but i believe these cafes can happily coexist and serve together.
I recommend the choc ganache tart, and i love their coffee with brown sugar :-)

Not great. Paid $10 for a milkshake which only had a hint of flavour. $8 for a hot chocolate which was nothing special except for the shell chocolate left inside the cup - you're meant to pour the hot chocolate over the top. Service was friendly and attentive but if you want good chocolate desserts, go elsewhere. It's too expensive for what it's worth.

Worst chocolate cafe ever been to! Definitely will never go back worst service, staff were rude and couldn't speak English very well didn't know there menu when I asked about a dish. When our food came out we were very dissapointed so called Belgian waffles tasted nothing like Belgian waffles and cost $18 with a bit of ice cream and chocolate topping my partner ordered a tiramisu which was very very small bought the size of a child's hand and cost $15 our drinks on top and the bill came to $50 very over prices for crap service and crap food

Hot chocolate is made with powder not real chocolate. Very disappointing for $6.20. They put a minuscule dollop of real chocolate in the bottom of the cup. Not worth the money!

To be avoided. $30 for 3 chocolate shakes that I would be disappointed has I been served them at my childhood corner milkbar. No hint of ice-cream in them or body to the drink - they would appear to be simply syrup and millk. Extremely overrated, even the kids were disappointed.

Everything is ok but overpriced.

$15 for a single waffle, some ice cream and a small tub of chocolate is a bit much for me. Add in an iced coffee for $8 which probably only had 1/2 a shot in and it's not worth it at all.
Go to Lindt instead.

Gorgeous desserts at $50 for 2. $50 for two cakes and drinks is not so bad when its this good. Everything was perfect, tirimasu, hot chocolate, mango milkshake were Amazing. Service was prompt.
