Review Eat Thai Restaurant - Sydney

If I could eat one cuisine for the rest of my vegan life it would be Thai. Eat Thai is a primo example of the high level of quality that this city is blessed with. The Laksa, greenpeppercorn eggplant and tofu were all vibrant, spicy, flavourful. I'm running out of superlatives here. So I'm gonna end it.

Massive 5 stars ! Placed an order for delivery , 4 dishes and they were all absolutely delicious. Big portion and lots of flavour !! Holy Basil Krakow was my favorite, will order again ! Really good Penang Curry as well. Very pleased overall. Also the delivery was right on time !

Wonderful meal for 6 friends, service was fantastic, cocktails were amazing and food was fantastic. Everyone commented how great it was and said one of the best Thai dinners they have had in a long time. Really enjoyable evening.

To be honest aside from nice food and friendly staffs, this restaurant has the most clean toilets in the whole Sydney restaurants. I felt like I'm inside the spa, smells so good, clean and relaxing. Good job EAT THAI 👍🏻

Friendly service but food was really very poor. Rubbery fish cakes had no taste, certainly not fish. Crispy tofu was like dry bricks on a bed of uncooked spinach. It simply didn't taste like Thai food. Very disappointing.

I honestly don’t know why people complain about the food, it’s sooo good! I used to live in Thailand and really enjoyed the food here - although my friend and I both ordered the veggie/tofu options so it might be different for the meat and fish meals, who knows? The service was great and speedy, you obviously can’t beat the location and the view is so nice, especially in spring when the jacaranda trees are in full bloom. The prices are more than reasonable and the portions satisfying. I’d recommend this place to everyone and will definitely go back!

I ate at 5 ways restaurant last night - the seafood Tom yum - it tasted way way too salty - like a whole tub of salt had been dumped into it. ( or msg ) It was almost inedible . Could cause a stroke to someone w HBP . This is Angela Drury the actual customer not T. Ebersoll . I live locally

I had the spicy crispy pork and chicken nasi goreng and, they taste good. However, they're quite expensive tho compared with other restaurant with much more quality food.

I cant see why anyone could like this place. The food we received take away was clearly reheated. It was not fresh and tasted stale. Both the so called wagyu (it wasn’t) was tough as was the pork belly which was also so overcooked it was more like pork scratchings than food. Prices are also sky high here so do yourself a favor and avoid this place like the plague!

Tried this place for the first time for lunch. I had the beef salad, asked for extra spicey. It was delightful, and to die for. I'm definitely coming back, next time for dinner.

The location is at the 5 ways in Paddo, a great place to be at any time of the day.

The restaurant is set up in the residential streets of Paddington and is a cosy spot to warm up in or a great spot to grab some takeaway and head off! With an easy access kitchen for delivery services, you can feel safe knowing that your online delivery will get to you ASAP. We start off our night with a couple of wines, a Rose and a GSM to keep things versatile and continued to order a couple of entrees and a couple of mains and a shared dessert.

Situated in Paddington with easy parking and a huge seating area both inside and out, this restaurant lived up to its standard. The service was really pleasant and most obliging and the food was amazing. Highly recommend the satay chicken skewers and Vietnamese rice paper rolls to start. The pad thai and massaman curry were so tasty and the desserts were decadent, definitely save room for some. Wonderful experience and would highly recommend it.

Great thai experience with all the usual and great menu choices. Its licensed so don't byo and get there early as it can be packed particularily on weekend

Situated in the heart of the village-like Paddington, Eat Thai spices up the local dining scene with colour, aroma and rich flavours. Although the Terra Cotta exterior suggests Mediterranean, the menu is as Thai as can be. . Looking past the curry puffs and fish cakes, we were tempted by grilled scallops on Betel Leaves with Grilled Scallops ($4.90/pc). Our host reminded us the correct way of eating was to make a parcel with leaves having seen so many people ignore the leaves. The base consists of shredded coconut, deep fried onions and fresh onions. It’s full of fragrance with a hint of sweetness from the onions.

Located in the heart of Paddington’s famous Five Ways is Eat Thai, a family-owned restaurant serving up delicious and authentic Thai dishes. We fell in love with the charming façade of the Eat Thai building and opted to sit outside to enjoy the view, the cool evening breeze, and the bustling atmosphere of this trendy suburb.

Good Thai place. I like to food and they have reasonable prices for their wins.
I would certainly be coming back for more.
Do recommend this place

Good location but the food is a little hit and miss. I ordered the smashed avocado on toast which looked like it could of have been made at home. My partner ordered the egg and ham pesto dish which they initially bought out the wrong dish then corrected. That meal turned out to be pretty good but nothing special. There are better options in the same vicinity. I.e: Tiger Mottle

This Thai restaurant is located in a popular area of paddington known as five ways. It has both indoor and outdoor seating and the decor is unique and beautiful. The staff are very friendly and attentive. We ordered the Peking duck pancakes and chicken san choy bow - probably the only reason this place is not getting a 5 is that the duck pancakes did not have enough sauce. For mains we went with two of the special options being the chicken yellow curry and the crispy pork belly - both were delicious and had the right amount of spice. These dishes with rice and two beers came to $87. The restaurant has seating options that would work well for both groups and couples - if in a group I would book ahead. Parking can be a bit of an issue in the area but you will find one aslong as you are willing to walk.

Even though I live so close, I have never been here for dinner but when my friend told me they have really good breakfast on the weekends, this is where we decided to catch up.

We sat inside and found the service friendly but food took a while to come out. I ordered their corn and avocado stack which came with hash browns, bacon and tomato which was generous in size and quite tasty. My husband tried their chorizo and egg dish and my son had eggs on toast. They have a great menu for kids. My friends seems to have enjoyed their food and we were all very full at the end.

I'm glad we have this place a go and we will definitely come back.

Eat Thai is one of my favorite Thai restaurant in the Eastern Suburb, I have been eaten in or take away at this restaurant on many occasions over the years and they never failed me! Food is consistently good, fresh ingredient with clean tasting dishes. My favorite dishes are Betal leaf with prawns, Papaya salad with BBQ chicken, chicken Larb Salad and Pad Thai with chicken. Betal leaf prawn is great; fresh ingredients and aromatic betel leaf makes the perfect entree. Larb is made with really good quality chicken breast mince and the dressing is zesty and spicy. Love the Papaya salad made extra spicy, if you request extra Hot you will get just that; BBQ chicken is marinated with delicious sauce and cooked beautifully and papaya is always fresh. Their pad Thai is made with thick rice noodle but flavor is on point.
I love the fact that I always get exactly what I expect at this restaurant, consistent flavor, friendly service and the restaurant also has nice atmosphere for dining in.

Cool area and nice looking restaurant but the food was rather average - the kind of food you would get from a Thai place in a food court. I don't know if there's a shortage on limes, but it was clearly bottled lime juice in the tom sum salad and I didn't enjoy it one bit. We ate here a couple of times a few years ago and from memory it used to be a lot better. On the upside the wait staff were kind and attentive. Very disappointing and we won't be going back in a hurry.
Rebecca
Disappointing. With so much good Thai food in Sydney this was rather flavorless and I should have not ordered the fried spring rolls, they were doughy.

What a hidden gem! It's all about the food!
Could be in Melbourne Brunswick street.
No, up beat slick smooth editors choice rave or latest moment crowd pleaser. This place has 20 years of history serving what they do best!
Freshly sourced produce married with aromatic herbs cooked simply. Awesome presentation. Great friendly atmosphere.
Divine wine and cocktail menu.
We were a table of 8 and sat outside in the daytime Tuk Tuk cafe area. Almost private dining watching the world go by.
Will definitely be back.

Bland, expensive, low quality ingredients, too much oily fish sauce. Save yourself the money and time. If looking for a decent Thai meal, go to Chat Thai instead.
Catherine
Amazing value and staff and cute ambience. Great food, helpful staff and well priced wine. Ideal place for a low key girls dinner night out or casual date. Delicious!!!

Fresh, clean varied dishes. Friendly service. Great ambience.
Always a great dining experience.

Creamy, rich Penang with rice- hangover cure dreams are made of this.

Along with a side of the pad Thai. Too good. So you can't help but eat too much.
Chloe
Delicious dinner served by friendly staff. Pad Thai was wonderful as was the red curry. Tuk tuk street bar out back is also amazing for breakfast and coffee. Highly recommend paying a visit to either.. Or both!

Went for breakfast & we were seated really quickly, menus brought out & we ordered within 5 mins. Drinks came really quickly & were great. Food was super quick & amazing.
Thought I'd go back for dinner. Couldnt even get to order my takeaway, after waiting& being ignored for ten minutes I left.

Delicious Authentic Thai. Got the early bird 2 for 1 Thai cocktail special & what a treat that was. We ordered a mix to share, salt & pepper prawns, spring rolls, betel leaf with scallop, pork belly salad. So fresh and yummy, I highly recommend a visit.

Average slop. Massaman curry (peanut and pumpkin mush)accompanied by 3 tablespoons of coconut rice. The amatuer cooking obviously had a two day hangover.

5 Ways To Get It Wrong........ One of the key aspects of Thai cuisine is the art in blending the five major tastes: Sweet, Sour, Salty, Bitter and Hot. Unfortunately, this place has removed four of those staples leaving only the Sweet. Even asking for some fresh chilli and soy (twice) failed to save any of the dishes. And what is it serving a suspiciously recycled looking Singapore orchid flower on every dish?! Is it the new 'curly parsley' of Thai garnishes?

Awful!. My partner and I went here yesterday for what we hoped would be a quick breakfast. When we entered we weren't really greeted or seated as the place seemed quite large and only having about 3 staff members on. After being at our table for about 10 to 15 minutes we were given some menus and after waiting too long(again) the waitress returned to take our orders. I ordered a BLT and a juice, my partner orded eggs on toast with a latte. The latte arrived soon after and then my BLT. No sign of eggs or my juice. I was half way through my sandwich when the eggs arrived along with my juice.
We both finished our meals(which were fine, not amazing but not bad, just fine) and asked for the bill. While my partner was organising the bill I popped out to do some errands when I returned(about 15/20 minutes later) he was still waiting at the table for the bill. He goes up to approach the staff at the till and they make him return to our table to wait for the bill as it's too confusing for them. We wait at the table for over 10 minutes and then go up to the counter again, she says the same thing; that we must return to our table and wait. Then two staff members finally come over with our bill and an eftpos machine so we can finally pay.
What should have been about an hour long breakfast turned into a nearly two hour hassle. Never again.

Not great. Especially when charging outrageous prices, paddington prices. The overall food is 'sydney bland Thai' over being hearty 'real Thai' that has spice and a bit of kick. It's bland, heavy, and lacks the subtle Thai favors professional Thai eaters are looking for... Portions are not reflective of the price either! It's cute, great location, and cosy but I'd call it lazy Thai.

Service is shocking. Staff need a right kick up their ass. They should probably be told that they are not doing people favors by taking their order. Food inedible. Great location. This place should be shut down and someone who knows anything about food and service should take over.

'Thai'?. This place has undoubtedly one of the best locations in Paddington, in such a beautiful old building.

That's where it ends. The food is lazy and expensive. Thailand is a distant memory of most dishes here.

They could so easily do great things here, but the locals are 'happy' so why bother!?

(Pad) Siew again. Great atmosphere right at the Roundabout at Glenmore Road. Exterior is rustic Paddo, interior is buzzing brick, large windows and full of happy patrons.

Eat Thai offers a fairly extensive menu. Our choice Pad Siew Beef, Tom Yum Pak Veggie Soup, Salt and Pepper Chicken, Chinese Broccoli, Larb Duck Salad and Steamed Jasmine rice.

All cooked to fine standards. And just the right sizes too.

Only glitch was the twice forgotten Larb Duck salad. It came 15 minutes after the rest of the meals were served to the other 3 patrons, leaving me to look on hungrily.

No tip this time, but happy to try it another time. Siew again.
