A complete delight!
Warm and sophisticated ambience without being pretentious.
Joseph was very helpful, amusing and accommodating.
As a dining experience our evening was just perfect. Excellent wine recommendations (without hitting the top end), Beef Bourguignon was cooked and prepared to perfection,
The fragrance of Crepe Suzette was utterly intoxicating! Great service . I had a perfect birthday celebration Thanks guys
Good tasting food and great service. Our waiter went out of his way to cater for us, but not in an invasive way. He let us order the mussels as a half dish and change our mashed potatoes to potato gratin. All the food was delicious. Would recommend the mussels and the lamb cutlets.
Great French food, home style and absolutely honest with ingredients and flavors. Excellent wine too. Wish the ambience was more happening but who cares! The flavors are all there!!! A must visit.
Highly recommended to the seafood lover. It's a family owned French restaurant with beautiful mussel dishes, garlic marinated prawns, and beautiful beautiful fish of day~ just like the way my grandma did it, old school~
My tip is save your sauce from mussel dish and dip your prawn or fish into the sauce, not too much, too much is salty. It taste~ amazing!! And this goes well with any type of red wine. Simple thing is simply the best.

We decided on this place after catching a late movie and I'm pleased to say we left with no regrets.
We ordered plates to share.. escargot, prawns, mussels and the pate. We also ordered a side of the French baguette, which I would recommend because you'll be wanting to savour every last bit of sauce in the mussel and prawn dishes! YUM!
Our waiter was lovely and our food was delicious. We were also happy to see a very reasonable wine list with a great range of bottles starting from $35 and going well into the high range. We opted for the cheaper bottle and weren't disappointed.
Overall, our experience was great. We will definitely be back!
Very good food, people are so friendly, warm and nice environment, reasonable price, i love mussel and lamb rack and onion soup too....will come back again and order more food
La Guillotine is a very a quint, family-run style restaurant serving some classic French dishes. The restaurant was nowhere near full on the rainy Saturday night that we visited but there were enough diners that I was surprised to see only what I assume to be the owner and perhaps his "older" mum in the kitchen! This had no effect on the quality of service so all power to them.
The menu reads like 1970s dinner party cookbook but the funny thing is that we're all often so wrapped up in fusion-this and modern-that we really don't too often cook or have a chance to dine out on these classics. That's what made this dinner so enjoyable, just some classic French flavours, cooked well in a very nice setting.
We shared the escargot which was very garlicky (just as it should be) and actually not absolutely swimming with butter (but with absolutely enough). The snails were well cooked, not chewy but still with a little bite. We also shared the pate which, whilst not as strongly tasting as perhaps we expected, was nice enough. Luckily the pate came with an abundance of bread as the escargot came with none and you can't let all that buttery, garlicky goodness go to waste!
For mains we had the duck breast which was cooked medium rare as expected and the cherry sauce/compote complimented the salty duck very nicely. If any criticism it would be that the skin was not rendered down quite enough so it was slightly fatty. We also had the beef fillet topped with a slice of foie gras. Whilst the foie gras definitely added the richness that you would expect it was the port sauce that made the dish. It was almost gravy like but not so much as to drown out the near perfectly cooked fillet.
The service was good, attentive but not overbearing. The restaurant itself is quaint, with a lovely Parisian feel, probably more so with the rain falling gently outside. The wine list was not extensive, it probably would have been nice to have a better choice of French wines. The list was quite short and focused more on the bargain side of the ledger rather than the quality side.
Well worth a visit, we were happy with our choice of restaurant for the evening.
Came here with my wife for a meal ( up from Melbourne for a short stay). The host who sounded French was very nice; both our meals (fillet beef) were cooked exactly as asked and with the Bordeaux the meal was enjoyable. The Host was helpful with the menu and service and not intrusive . Would return on another trip to Sydney.
I have to say its one of my Favorite places ! Starting from entree - snails , variation of cheeses and spectacular pâté just flows so well with my favorite Vieux Naudin
Little restaurant with tables not too close together. Need to order the fresh bread starter so that you can use it to catch the last of your sauces from your meal. Had lamb cutlets cooked perfectly, served on creamy mashed potatoes and tasty ratatouille. Very happy with my dish, but others looked so good I want to return. Good sized mains and price ok. Limited wine list but good wines. Staff busy but worked well as a team. I'll go back.
A night in paris...in sydney. Greeted with gusto and enthusiasm, our evening was without fault. my friend and i had the pleasure of sampling the simply flavoursome onion soup as entree, followed by a perfectly cooked medium rare duck and a literal melt your mouth chargrilled steak. all dishes were unbelievably well cooked with simple, beautiful flavours. there was a lovely warm ambience to accompany this fine meal with the service unintrusive but professional and friendly. unfortunately no room for dessert but we will be back!
The staff were amazing! They are so nice and provide us great details to order food that matches our expectations! The food is very good tasting of course, and the restaurant is very clean. Be sure to make a reservation with them as they are quite busy. My new favourite french restaurant!
French restaurant with a very warm, cosy, classic ambience. Slightly pricey but overall good quality food. We ordered the chicken and pork pate, prawn marinated in garlic and oil, lamb cutlets, beef fillet with potato gratin and a side of Ratatouille. Whilst everything was good, the pate, lamb, gratin and Ratatouille really stood out.
Decent French cuisine. Good ambiance and the staff are attentive and nice. They're open late as well.
Great location, even if the street can get noisy.
Could it be any more romantic than this? People watching as you enjoy the best the French have to offer?
Escargot doused in garlic butter
Pate w cornichons, olives and the most delightful baguette
Oysters
A fresh salad to offset the lux
The most friendly staff and the owner Joseph is just an absolute gem.
An absolute must
One of the oldest French restaurant in Sydney. Serving French classic dishes. Love the Parisian set-up & background music taking you on a trip to Paris. The service crew are friendly and attentive. Food is delicieux to my liking. Bon Appetit.
Great food, great ambience, staff is super friendly! They stay open until late, which is a plus. Really recommend it!
The Rossini was a 10/10. The beef was so tender and the portion size was good for $55. The flavour of the sauce provided a lovely base that foregrounded the beef fillet and foie gras - the whole ensemble was fabulous. The vibe is interesting, staff are friendly
