Review Bloodhound Espresso - Sydney

Nat Bejain
Very pleasant service, flavourful food, albeit rather small portions. Enjoyed the jerk chicken sambo. Plenty of outdoor seating; great for locals with doggos. Had a tepid, watery long black. Unsure if the barista was in a rush, or this is the preferred style (in which case, others clearly like it). There is room for improvement, in my opinion.

Delicious breakfast at great price. Brekkie burrito is filling and tasty. The guys working couldn't do enough for us, fantastic service. Tasty coffee. Great little cafe!

Possibly the best cheese and ham toastie - ever. Cordial, warm and smiling service. I can see why the place is so busy with constant takeaway. Quintessential Sydney feel to it, the ambience (we dined-in), the food and the location itself. 7 stars for the great experience.

Revising my five star review based on a second visit. Our order for three people included two of the same dish but only one came. One of us was left without food the entire time the others of us finished our meal. We were told we wouldn't be charged for one round of coffees - the fairer course would have been not to charge for the meal that didn't arrive. I left and saw I was charged for the coffees. The meal was surprisingly and sadly bland. Disappointing experience and a shame. Response equally disappointing. Just add salt and pepper because the food is otherwise bland is a great tip. 8 minute delay is just dishonest - it took about 15 after it was raised, which in turn was 10 minutes after it was supposed to arrive, by which point each other person had finished their meal. Pro tip - leave the salt for your food not your review replies

Best batch brew and cappuccino in Sydney! Been there almost everyday since arriving in Sydney and love the place not just for its coffee and food but also for the chilled out atmosphere. Matt, the owner is the sweetest guy ever and makes you feel right at home.

Best all around cafe in Darlinghurst! Wonderful coffee and wonderful people, especially Matt, the owner. Definitely a hub of Darlinghurst locals who come every day to sit or grab their takeaway for work. Lots of seats inside and out— Tasty, simple menu (mostly healthy too) with more extravagant options for brunch on the weekend if you want something special. Also, lots of dogs which is always a plus! If you need a haven in the area this is your spot.

This place deserves a perfect review as the food, coffee, ambience, service and seating were all outstanding! Food - fresh, quickly made, REALLY tasty! Drinks - excellent coffee and flavourful cold-pressed juices! Ambience - funky atmosphere and trendy location! Service - the owner, who was serving us, was engaging, friendly and caring. He obviously really cares for his staff too. The coffees being ordered at the window were delivered to customers very quickly and with such positive energy. Wonderful work! Seating - a small seating area but the booth seat and free-standing seats were very stylish and comfortable. An easy place to sit a people-watch in comfort.

So happy to have discovered this place!

I love this place. The food is great, my favourite is the bacon and egg roll with a side of avocado and hash brown :). The service is always friendly - thanks Matt for creating such a great cafe

Absolutely loved this cafe, from the friendly staff, to the delicious food and amazing coffee I could not fault a thing. The smashed avo was great with a kick of chilli making the dish extra flavoursome. The toasted muesli and yoghurt was so fresh and perfect for a healthy Sunday morning. This is a cool place to visit, highly recommended 😉

Best coffee in Sydney. And on the food it's all about the attention to detail. Love the bloody mary burger, but something as simple as the dukka & avocado is outstanding. Great veg options.

Bloodhound Espresso is a gem. Super friendly staff, good coffee and delicious fresh food. It's not a large space so we waited about 10mins for a table when arriving just after 11am on Saturday. I had the jerk chicken sandwich while my friend had the eggs on toast with a side of mushrooms. The sandwich was excellent. The ciabatta was filled with a layer of beautifully ripe avocado, tender chunks of grilled chicken, coconut labneh, a chilli relish and fresh coriander. The chicken had been marinated in a slightly spicy jerk rub which paired well with the coconut flavours, and the pomegranate seeds added bursts of tanginess in every bite. This well-balanced beauty is now on my Top 10 sarnie list. Coffee was also a winner.

Awesome.

THE BLOODY MARY BURG
Beef patty, double American cheese, sriracha bacon, pickles, onions, lettuce, bloodhound bloody Mary ketchup, fries

Incredible burger - all the ingredients complemented each other perfectly. Ketchup was deliciously savoury and paired with the jalopeño provided a rich, complex spice. Bacon was crisp and texturally the whole thing was a treat.

JERK CHICKEN SANDWICH
Salsa verde, coconut labneh, avo, picked onion, pomegranate, coriander

An absolutely wonderful experience with the jerk chicken sandwich - lots of ingredients, complex flavour but nothing out of place - excellent balance. Coconut labneh and picked onion vaguely reminded me of my grandmother's 'rempah' for her curries. Pomegranate provided a much needed burst of freshness and tang... Highly recommend.

Coffee was also good, and friendly, enthusiastic service to cap it off. The boss was clearly very passionate about his food! Had a great lunch.

I had been wanting to go here for a while and went one morning before work. I struggled to decide what to get! There was a toastie, benedict, granola, salad and more. I ended up going for the buckwheat granola which came with a coconut yoghurt and fruits - strawberries, kiwi fruit, blueberries, gogi berries and more. It looked beautiful, but tasted a bit gluten free like for my palate. The man working there and doing the coffees was very hospitable and the coffee was very good. No baked goods there yet but from what i've seen online, I understand the make some
good ones.

a hidden gem, fab for breakfast. their bloody mary burger is a must have followed by the avo on toast (because it's not just any toast) meals are very affordable, really can't fault this place.

Tuesday travels in the city saw me exploring Darlinghurst this week and on a mates recommendation I tried out @bloodhoundespresso 😎

Bloody Mary Burger: 2x beef patty, 2x american cheddar, sriracha bacon, dill pickles, lettuce, onions, homemade bloody Mary ketchup on a soft bun 🍔

This little cafe do a legit burger! The trio of beef/bacon and cheese! I know it's tucked in amongst some big hitters but never write off the underdog. Good way start to the day and that sauce 👌💦💦

Cute little cafe only been open 8 weeks. Piccolo was good and strong. Indoor and outdoor seating available.

Got to try the The avo on toast with fetta, bloodhound signature beans with egg and prosciutto, the zucchini salad with chicken, the soft shell crab sandwich and the BAE roll.

Everything was presented well and tasted pretty good. The relish on the BAE roll really good. The zucchini sale was very refreshing! Baked beans were spiced by not overly hot! Avo was simple yet delicious.

Matt one of the owners advised that he wanted to do simple dishes but do them really well.

I am a fan of this place. Good location too and because we went on a Sunday morning there was heaps of street parking so great place to catch up with friends or to recover from the night before.

Cute cafe located in Darlinghurst with delicious brunchy items and great customer service. Bossman Matt is great and makes sure everyone there has a good time and is well looked after. I highly recommend the Soft shell crab panini and the avo toast!
