Ordered a Lemon and Green Tea cake. It was reasonably priced ($85) for the serving size (16).
Everyone loved the cake, it was not too sweet and had great flavour. The texture was creamy, loved the layers of lemon jelly, cheesecake and matcha in the middle.
While the cakes and croissants are good, the prices are definitely a bit steep. I had high expectations for the croissant since there’s so much hype about it but it’s not as fluffy as expected. The coconut tart was pretty good - subtle flavours and wasn’t overly sweet.
Can be hard to park nearby, and busy on weekends. For the pastries and cakes though, it's worth it. They are doing some really different and delicious items that you can't get anywhere else. My favourite is the ruby cheesecake. I drive from the North Shore to get it!
A good selection of French inspired cakes & pastries. They do special flavour croissants on weekends, such as durian, Thai milk tea & cheesecake with mixed berry jam etc. It’s happen to be the black truffle season at the moment so they have created Black Truffle Croissant along with Black Truffle soft serve served on a croissant cone. 🙂 The Black Truffle Croissant had infused black truffle in the custard so was the soft serve on the croissant cone. Both had a subtle flavour of black truffle. The soft serve was not as creamy as I hoped for but the extra bit of shaved black truffle enhancing the flavour which was great. I just loved the flakiness & crispiness of both croissant & croissant cone, they made a perfect treat. 🙂
They also have a number of inventive cakes on display. The two tarts that I tried were delicious & beautifully presented. Reasonable price compared to other dessert places. Coffee was average though, no latte art in my Cappuccino... too busy or lazy?? 😏
Textbook have probably the beat croissants and specialty pastries and breads in Sydney. Consistently high quality product with a focus on a variety of flavours and fillings. There is heaps of hype around this place and it's well deserved, I'll always return whilst there is passion in what these guys do. Keep up the great work.
This is my favourite place in Sydney for croissants. I’ve had the durian and truffle croissants which were weekend specials. The pastry itself was very flakey and crispy on the outside and the filling inside was really good.
My friend told me that this place sells the ‘Boba Croissant’ however when I went there, to my disappointment they only make them in the weekends. Although I didn’t go home empty handed, as their other Croissants look amazingly appealing! I bough an Almond Croissant and their special ‘Thai milk tea Croissant’. It was surprisingly one of the best Croissant I’ve ever had in Sydney! It have a really creamy filling, and it’s very sweet (might be too sweet for some people), but for me, the sweetness is just right!
I would come back again definitely for the food, even though the staff weren’t the friendliest people that day :)
Go there for the croissants, stay for the cheesecake!
The delicacy of the French style cheesecake had me going crazy. The croissants are actually quite good... Flaky, soft and good amount of filling. We had the cheesecake-berry jam flavoured croissant which was a rather creative combination. I had no complaints whatsoever. Great staff, you can actually see the chefs kneading the dough and making pastries! Lots of yum options to try every weekend. Definitely worth a second visit.
Pastry is handled like Royal treatment, beautifully crafted by hands of qualified pastry chefs, text-book stuff!
My morning coffee routine is a piccolo, which was ok, and 3 of us start hammering on Christmas croissant flavor, which was superb, apple pie, which was bake to perfection and eggnog mouse, just because this green donut shape like look so cute 😝.
Well, we were still hungry just because we were sharing, so decided to get another raspberry Cronut, that tangy raspberry flavour very good to cut through all the sweetness and follow by Dark Chocolate mousse with whites chocolate ganache which is my favorite among 5 of items that we’ve tried today.
Decided to come here upon seeing awesome reviews online. Definitely lives up to its name! We came in too late for the creamy croissants (apparently they sell out around 9am each morning) but instead I got a chicken, mushroom and truffle pie. Great value at $8! The ambiance was good and the place appeared like a genuine French patisserie.
Famous for their creative croissant flavours and inventive desserts, I was eager to try the taro milk bubble tea croissant when it came out.
Flaky pasty with a gorgeous creamy taro custard centre with bouncy pearls inside.
This was one croissant I wasn’t going to share with anyone else!
Textbook is known for their high quality pastries and has been on my to-eat list since ages ago. The location is a little tricky for me though so I never got to try out their products. Thanks to a foodie friend, I finally got my hands on their durian croissant which was a limited edition. The croissant itself was very buttery and flaky. With durian custard, the yumminess was taken to a whole new level. Would definitely go back for more pastries even though the weekly specials are on the pricey side.
The early bird gets the worm could easily be the mantra for Textbook Patisserie where their wildly popular and highly instagrammable croissants can sell out by midday. For those more inclined to enjoy their weekend sleep-ins, you can still avail yourself of a plain butter croissant or any of the other delectable desserts on display like a yuzu curd mousse or choux au craquelin. For those interested, we missed out on the Thai tea boba croissant...
The desserts here are quite aesthetically pleasing.
The combination of flavours for each piece are well thought out and complement each other.
It's best to share each piece as some can get quite rich.
Prices for each piece are around $8 and you can get special edition pieces depending on what day you go.
Would recommend trying it out.
After seeing tons of pictures on Instagram of their constantly changing croissant flavours, I knew I had to give Textbook a go. Arriving there at 7:30, there was already a huge line outside. Despite being on the pricier side, the taro bubble tea croissants we ordered were amazing; though on the buttery side. The coffee was great, and service super lovely. Would 100% return and recommend to anyone tossing up whether the early wake up to get these is worth it
Came here since my friends recommended and had my mocha, pie and desserts. The mocha was just so so like the one sold in my school. But the chicken mushroom truffle pie was awesome. The crust of the pie was quite crispy and the chicken mushroom fillings had strong milk smells with light smells of truffle, super delicious. The passionfruit chocolate mousse was good, the passionfruit filling kind of moderated the sweet from chocolate, but I prefer the pie more. The ruby dessert looked beautiful within the chocolate shell but the taste didn't surprise me, which was a little disappointing. The mango coconut was wonderful, no need to discuss. I also tried their weekend special croissants twice, which had their special custards inside (change every week). The innovation is brilliant but the croissants were stiffer than the normal ones. The price for those was relatively low compared with other cafes I had been to before, which was great.
I've driven past, I've watched their instagram (and several others) and despite my awe and admiration at the pastry skills in their croissants, I'd never been. I changed that by visiting recently - and my world has now changed. I'm scared to buy baguettes (or croissants for that matter) anywhere else, and now I've visited I'm pretty sure there is no going back. Scroll willingly, or aimlessly, and you’re bound to come across atleast one image of a center-cut croissant from Textbook. Look on their profile directly and you'll see hundreds. A tonne of varieties too. You see the layers. They rise perfectly. You then understand why the pastry is repeatedly folded, over and over and over, to make these kind of delights.
We went there to try their truffle croissant and truffle free range eggs on toast during their truffle season special in winter. Both of them are phenomenal! 😍 Will definitely come back again for breakfast or brunch👍🏻

Friendly staff, I am amazed on how beautiful the cakes and breads are. I ordered the Vanilla Cheesecake and the Chocolate with I think it was Passion Fruit cake and the famous Truffle Croissant. It’s so good! Would definitely come back again. Friendly staff as well!
Have always wanted to try this place. Their almond croissant was pretty good, wish they would warm it up before serving though. Would like to come back to try the other pastries and bread on offer.
I've only ever gotten takeaway from Textbook, but from what I've tried this is one of the best bakeries I've been to in Sydney. For the price you pay, especially for the croissants, you get a fairly hefty serving. It's definitely worth it to check on weekends when they have the special croissants out. The truffle croissant (winter special) is worth getting your hands on, perfectly salty and creamy without being overwhelming . Both savoury and sweet options here have been a massive hit in my opinion.
Been wanting to eat here for ages and finally I was able to today. Spacious cafe with friendly service. Coffee was delicious, assortment of pastries were unreal. The croissant today was a charcoal and raspberry flavour, it was outstanding ! The mushroom dish with poached eggs was so tasty and would highly recommend it. Will definitely be back 😉
Another too pretty to eat patisserie. The place itself is simple without much trimmings. The sweet offers looks cute & very glossy, just something out of a fairy tale. I'm a sucker for eclairs so tried the Snickers Eclair, which was filled with salted caramel & peanut creme patissier. The creme was bit too thick for my liking, otherwise it tasted quite good. My friend tried one of their pork & fennel sausage roll, which she attest is as good as the Bourke Street one.
Absolutely fantastic desserts - have tried a few of them and they are great. Service is ok, tables do not get cleared promptly though (the last time I time I was there anyway on a weekend) and the ambiance is just your typical functional cafe style. I come here for the delicious desserts though, not for anything else.
As a good French I always look or good bread and cakes as we use to eat at home almost everyday. Of course here it is more expensive but you can find really good baguette as at Textbook . I will advice to go early on the morning when the bread is fresh as the air humidity is changing the crispiness of the bread in Australia.
And I also give a try to their pastries and cakes and I will say that the pastries are not buttery enough for my taste but the almond croissant is still pretty yummy. Their cakes are originals and good too. I would like some of tem to be a bit stronger in flavour but still I really enjoy them. I would totally advice this bakery for a weekend brunch
Visited on a Sat morning and it was packed. Vibe was great but the seating capacity inside wasn't efficient. There were many staff but they were mainly behind the counter. We ordered a bacon and egg brioche burger and a field mushroom on toast. Food tastes good and the brioche and bread were nice and fresh. We took away a small dark choc passionfruit cake and it was yum!
We came here for brunch and ordered:
Truffle Croissant (4/5): The croissant itself was lovely delicate flaky layers like a croissant should be but if it was slightly warmer or fresh out of the oven I feel like it would've added a bit more softness inside and taken it to the next level. The truffle flavour was great though! The croissant was filled with a slightly sweet and very creamy truffle cream which I couldn't get enough of. Would definitely return for this.
Pain Au Chocolat (3.5/5): This wasn't as flaky as the truffle croissant but still enjoyable, nothing too spectacular here but definitely better than your average chocolate croissant from the local bakery.
Baked Eggs (3/5): It was a 15min wait for the eggs, which turned out to be more like half an hour. The dish also just kind of tasted like a saucy omelette sprinkled with chorizo. It was ok but wouldn't really re-order this. It also came with olive bread slices that were quite good on their own + some butter.
Pumpkin Hummus Rye Toast (3/5): Another just "ok" dish. The rye toast was beautiful and had a slight crunch, the pumpkin hummus was ok - it was creamy and filling but lacked a bit of flavour. The pumpkin seeds and chickpeas added a bit of a crunch which was nice but perhaps if the chickpeas were toasted and a bit more salty or spicy it would have really improved the dish. The poached eggs on top were cooked perfectly though.
Overall, if you're visiting Textbook I would recommend buying the pastries and desserts and maybe you can skip on the brunch menu...although their pies and sausage rolls looked quite delish!! Might come back here to give them a try.
Thwy serve a good baguette, and a really great truffle pie! Wasnt blown away by the almond croissant, but would try the plain croissants next time. Simple atmosphere with friendly staff.
The first time I went here, I tried their apple crumble. Not gonna lie, it looks really cute. The glaze was so smooth and the cake is not overly sweet
On the second visit, I tried several cakes and also their croissant. The croissant was not crispy which made me dissapointed. For the cake, it tasted just okay nothing special
Bought the lychee cake today but was a bit disappointed because the lychee flavor was VERY very faint. The coconut taste was the first thing I could taste and it felt like a pina colada cake instead. I'm a bit surprised because textbook bakery usually delivers exceptional cakes but this was my first time trying the lychee cake.
The pastries... Omg amazing! Croissants, sausage rolls, pies, tarts... Actually everything on their menu is delicious! If you're in the area and in need of a good coffee, bite to eat then stopping here in a must!!
This place had been on my list forever, so was very excited to finally get my hands on something from here! Introducing the cherry ripe croissant. Not only is it visually stunning, it tastes damn good too! Gorgeous flaky croissant filled with a beautiful choc cherry cream. Yum!
I first heard of Textbook Patisserie when Instagram was flooded with pictures of their Truffle Croissant, usually sold out quickly on the day they are available. No chance of me getting one, I can never wake up early enough! I started scrolling through their page and found they also create some pretty awesome desserts! My kind of place! While picking up our cousin one night from the airport, I realized it is located in very close proximity so it was the perfect spot to bring my mum for lunch when she landed here from Perth.
Their coffees are superb, and their gourmet pastries are not to be missed! If visiting, i'd highly recommend the lamb and rosemary sausage roll. The meat is cooked to perfection and the pastry isn't going overboard. Staff are friendly and ensure your needs are met. How could it be improved? Pricing. Thinking about the purchase and the value for money, it's the dearer side.

This fairly simple place hides some of the tastiest treats you'll find around here. We dropped in by chance as we were shopping nearby. We needed something to fuel us for our retail therapy and this proved ideal. They have a lot of very pretty cakes and pastries but we decided on hot food on this occasion.
We tried this out on a Sunday morning - big area so plenty of seats, parking on street outside. Limited
Brunch Menu but some nice selections like the mushrooms or a shatsuka. Their cakes are clearly their specialty being a patisserie.
Anyhow, quick and tasty, not bad!
An accidental but satisfying drop by.
We were on our way to pick up a bday cake from Mascot when google maps took us here instead. It was on our to-try list so we were quite thrilled with the navigational stuff up.
The cakes were like works of art, you almost felt bad sticking your spoon into them let alone cutting them into multiple pieces to share with the fam.
As beautiful as they looked the flavours were subtle and I would've liked more zing and punch.
An exception was the chocolate cake, pleasant with the cherry in the middle.
The croissant was flaky, buttery and fluffy - quite similar to some of the one we had from Paul in Paris but just a tad too much air in between the layers.
I hate to say I prefer some of the cakes at Koi more.
One of my favorite cakes shop in town! The seasonal croissant was always blown me away. The cakes were unique and pretty as well. They also have breakfast and lunch menu. The staffs were great as well. The cozy interior makes you wanna chit chatting for a long time as well.
Very nice - high quality petit gateaux. Banana and caramel & raspberry cheesecake. Nice flavours that worked well together. Texturally they both had a nice crunchy base. Would love to try the croissaants next visit!
The crossaint has to be the best tasting one I've had to date - perfectly buttery, airy and soft inside as well as crispy on the outside, it was devine and the price point was reasonable. I'll be back to try the cakes!

As Textbook Boulangerie Patisserie just announced they’re making a blue croissant, I thought it was time to look back on their famous truffle croissant, that drove food bloggers and normal people alike quite mad. Ok, I’m sorry, but this is just ridiculous (in a good way). I thought the croissant was all you got but you open it up and it’s got this buttery, creamy, sweet, truffle spread too?! Actually, I was surprised that the filling was sweet. Croissants are always savoury in my mind so that was an odd taste upon first bite, but both DS and agreed that it actually worked well. I wonder what the blueberry croissants will be filled with? Blueberry jam perhaps?
Bright patisserie with a lovey array of cakes and baked goods on offer. I like the open kitchen and the cool interiors. I highly recommend the peach and apricot .. The balance of flavours was perfect.
I've finally had a chance to visit this famous patisserie. So many pretty looking cakes on display it's hard to choose. Lemon Meringue with Raspberry Compote - lemon curd, raspberry compote, swiss meringue, vanilla sablé breton ($8.50 dine in, label says $7.50 so I assume that's a takeaway price?) looks wonderful. Cappuccino ($3.50) uses The Little Marionette coffee and is rather nice and helps to cut through the sugary delight. Babyccino ($1) comes in a paper cup as preferred but is all milk rather than froth so attention required when passing on to a 1 year old in not making a huge mess if spilt.
Great atmosphere with friendly service. Had their Nutella cronut and the apple crumble cake. Not too sweet or decadent, can't wait to come back and try their other cakes!
It's a shame we missed truffle season and didn't get to try the truffle croissant. But what we did try certainly didn't disappoint. The milk chocolate and hazelnut petit gateau was smooth, velvety, and the nutty flavour cut right through the creamy chocolate. It was not overly sweet but just enough richness to finish the whole cake by yourself. The glazed dome was so shiny that I could see my own reflection. It had a slightly jelly like texture and melted in the mouth. There were some enticing looking sandwiches during lunch service as well, but we had lunch elsewhere and reason for next visit.
After our visit to Cuckoo Callay, Textbook Bakery was on my radar for the elusive Truffle Croissant. When they announced that they will release the Truffle croissants due to popular demand, we knew that was our Saturday morning to-do list. The truffle croissants looked gorgeous in black stripes and they contained truffle custards in between. The pastry was really good but it costed $10 for 1 truffle croissant . Guess we were paying for a limited-edition experience.
Don't get me wrong. The goods here look absolutely stunning. 10/10 for presentation. But taste? Well. It was anticlimactic. I had the chocolate pear dessert with a nutty base and moussey inside and sure, it was good. But was it amazing? No. Definitely not. And the pear jelly on top was not overly peary or a very nice texture. Coffee was really nice though!
the quality matches the look of the cake. They have special limited croissants every weekend and it sold out very quicky, i'm very lucky to try the blackforest croissants before they ran out. The flavour are just so fanstastic, the store has a really nice view, nice decor, nice smell of the fresh bread just got out of the oven. Worth to try.
One of my favourite cafes/bakerys in Sydney, amazing deserts and pies. The. Bread is phenomenonal and the brunch is the best priced in the city, nowhere else can you get such quality food for $12-$14
Beautiful pastries and cakes lined the display window. Interesting flavours such as white chocolate, mango, coconut and kaffir lime, grand marnier cheesecake and apple crumble. I really enjoyed the mandarin tonka, simple and refreshing flavours with a beautiful gelatin swirl exterior. Each and everyone was made with ultimate care and were delicate little morsels of joy. A sweet little gem in Rosebery.
Went here to check it out - my brother said it was good. Basically a patisserie with amazing style cheesecake, mousse, eclair cakes etc. They also have bakery goods like bread, croissants, cronuts. It all appears to be made on site as you can see them working away. Basically it is open until sold out. Seems very popular. I was surprised to see menu options to order as well, which is good. They have eggs, bacon and egg rolls, mushy peas, shakshuka and granola.
I just got a coffee, quite strong coffee (can't remember the brand), with beautiful latte art.
I also got the cheesecake. It is basically a small dome shaped pillow of goodness on top of a biscuit. It is delicious and beautifully presented with white chocolate and a purple swirl. Check it out
I could not believe my eyes. Stepping into a bright, spacious dimension (it seemed to me like the first part of a contemporary hall), I was immersed by the lightness of it all, then the colours of the displays and finally by the warmth of the set up. Call it Scandinavian in feel and design, name it contemporary - I embraced it like a kid in a sophisticated and yet easy feeling at home atmosphere. This is the Textbook.Located at a busy part of Botany Road, Textbook is just off the street and below some apartments.
Cheesecake is my favourite cake. I tried croissant at there and its good, its crispy. The place is just so so. You can pay buy card. We want to try yuzu croissant but they sold out
I love desserts full stop and this place is overflowing with desserts!!! The selections are endless and every season they are bringing new flavours - meaning time to check it out again! Their cruffins are great too! Too many to recommend! So best thing to do is go there and try every single cake you see!
Visually appealing, it does not taste bad. In fact, it taste pretty good, But taking the fact that is it an apple crumble, I could hardly eat the crumble. Every time I take a bite, the crumble falls off and I have to separately eat the crumble.
The cheesecake was very good, loved the texture, and especially the base. The cake was not too sweet, it was just enough, with a surprising blueberry jam in the middle. Would definitely recommend this dessert.
I also had a cappuccino which was pretty bad in my point of view. The coffee had a sour taste to it, I'm no expert coffee drinker so maybe it's just a type of bean they used and liked by others. I took 2 sips and just couldn't handle the taste anymore.
Overall, the dessert tasted excellent, if I could have the crumble in every bite it would've be better. Just the coffee disappointed me
Nice place. So beautiful texture of cakes. Bright and nite interior and friendly staff. Before 3pm, street parking available. They open 7am till sold. If you want morning break, have some food the grounds and have pretty look cakes here
Lovely weekend with Miss O. We have been planning to do desserts for ages (and we still have a few more places up our sleeves that we want to go to), but this weekend, we decided to do something that’s totally Instagram worthy and go for the pretty cakes. So here we are at Alexandria’s Textbook Boulangerie Pattiserie. Textbook has been making its rounds on Instagram quite a lot recently, and I am not surprised at all! Look at how pretty their cakes are!
The food here is soo good , if you eat in you're sure to take something away also. The big open kitchen allows your to see the chefs hard at work how could you not when you see the hard work and passion that goes into it all
Why 4.5, well I believe 5 is the rating, but that would be a cop-out as I have never rated a paper, restaurant or anything at 100%, I believe that the quality and presentation is one of the best in Sydney. The products presented are what you expect of any top end Patisserie Europe or Australia. Please remember I still want to have a seat when I go so enjoy but leave space for me. Simply the BEST.
After dropping my mum at the airport, we decided to swing by this place for coffee and food. As we were early, there was ample seating and the small number of people that came in were getting their morning caffeine with baked good for breakfast.
I got my husband to try their beef pie as I read good reviews about their pies but also their raspberry and blackcurrant cruffin (crossiant and muffin hybrid and their flavours change weekly) and their apple crumble cake. They serve Marie Antoniette coffee which was nice and smoothe.
Beef pie was tasty but some of the chucks of beef were a bit hard/chewy and I had to spit it, the cruffin was nice with enough sauce on the inside, otherwise it would have been a it too dry. Even though it was so early in the morning, we had to try their Apple crumble cake and this was visible pretty and tasty filled with apple pieces (like the ones in McDonald Apple pie).
Staff were friendly and I would definitely swing by again if I'm nearby.
Having seen countless reviews of their delicate creations, we parked down the road and went in search of Textbook Boulangerie-Pattisserie, a new player in the Alexandria foodie scene!. Food:We ordered two desserts – the Apple Crumble, and the White chocolate, Mango, Kaffir Lime and Coconut dessert. The Apple Crumble was a real treat – the texture of the apple mousse was contrasted with the crumbly biscuit base, with caramelised apple pieces hidden away in the interior for a delicious surprise! The vanilla topping and caramel stick finished off the dessert nicely, and each mouthful was truly magical.
One of the newest kids on the block, Textbook Boulangerie-Patisserie in Alexandria brings a lot to the table with vibrant cakes, stuffed sandwiches, awesome pies as well as their take on some breakfast classics.
Came real early for this cafe and sat for almost 3 hrs. They don't have any complicated, creative menus for breakfast, so it's just the simple traditional breakfast that is styled to look more modern. I got a bacon and egg roll, and as simple as it sounds, it tasted great haha it was very adorable too! But I'm sure we all know what the highlight of this cafe is, and that is of course their desserts. Spectacular little treats they've created! People eat with their eyes, touch and taste senses, and this place has definitely aced it with their quality sweets. So many to choose from , not too expensive for something that is appealing to the eyes, feels fluffy mousse and tastes so divine!
The service just friendly but they don't seem to walk around the floor area at all unless they're serving food. I guess they just wanted to give customers their space :)
What a fabulous addition to the Sydney baking scene. Been 3 times in the past few weeks and I'm impressed each time I go. Their cakes and pastries are without a doubt the most beautiful from an aesthetic perspective. Perfectly shaped cakes, almost too pretty to eat. The flavours are amazing too. The chocolate eclair is probably our favourite here. It's a stunning looking creation and tastes unbelievable. I also love that the pastry chefs get behind the counter to serve you when it gets busy.
We came here solely to try the beautiful cakes I saw on Broadsheet. Tried the Chocolate and raspberry, Vanilla, strawberry and mint and the lemon cakes. They were delicious, and I love how smooth the cake looks. However I'm not a fan of the white serving plate - reminded me of a buffet!
I have to say Textbook looks a bit out of place from the outside. Not saying it isn't conveniently located (
Lovely cakes and pastries. Very delicate and service was friendly. The eclair was a little dry but the chocolate filling was to die for!
Go before this place is famous - they have some incredibly talented chefs and it's a smooth operation despite only having been open a month. The eclair was delicious, as was the brioche. I went for brunch so had to content myself with photographing the cakes rather than eating them! Next time...

Decisions. It's never easy on your first visit to Textbook Boulangerie Patisserie, the newest haven for sweet tooths that opened in Alexandria less than a month ago. There's been a stampede of fans since the doors first opened, and no wonder. The army of glossy airbrushed desserts in the display cabinet - garnished with silver leaf, antennae of tempered chocolate and shields of macaron shells - would defeat any I-quit-sugar convert.
I was away the day Textbook opened, but I was there on day 2, and most days, since. Its opening was eagerly anticipated by so many, and it hasn't disappointed. The cakes and pastries are fabulous, although the croissant and Danish are probably a tad dry for my taste. The pies and quiches are very tasty, though somewhat greasier than I'd anticipated.
If you're expecting a great breakfast or lunch, the offerings in that regard are very limited. The small range of pre-made sandwiches are nice, but being pre-made, even using their own beautiful artisan breads, they tend to be a bit dry. The shakshuka, which is pretty much the only brekky item, is ok, but not stunning.
Obviously, the focus here is on bread, cakes and pastries, which they do extremely well. The remainder leaves a lot to be desired, more so if they're aiming to compete with more established local cafes. Especially in the coffee department. They need to find that barista in a hurry, because people are starting to talk about the mediocre coffee.
The staff are really friendly and cheerful, the atmosphere is clean, neat and modern, and it's certainly worth a visit for the things in which they specialise. Just don't expect an innovative or even regular cafe menu. It's definitely a cake and coffee spot, but has huge potential for a little more. Although I rate it highly for the things they do, as a cafe, it's barely a 3.0.
I'd say their chocolate eclair is one of the best I've ever had.. The shell is thin and slightly crunchy, it's not overly sweet and there's textural contrast between the shell and chocolate creme..
Finally tried their Apple Crumble cake as it's always sold out whenever I go there.. The texture is smooth with soft apple pieces on the inside.. Light flavour and not too sweet with crunchy crumble on the outside
I've been looking forward to visiting here, and considering the chefs behind this venture, expectations are high. The atmosphere is comfortable, quiet chattering, no music. The fit out is clean and modern, the cakes look delectable, and a faint aroma of chocolate in air puts a smile on my face. I ordered the Apple Crumble, pictured. Probably one of the best cakes I've tried in recent times, better than what I've tried at Le Renaissance or Zumbo. I also ordered a hot chocolate, but that wasn't nice at all, to the point I could only bare to take a few sips, and then just gave up.
Will definitely come back again, maybe with a friend next time.
So much more to try.
Different but good. If you are the kind of person that wants to try a different variety or types of unusual cakes, this is your hangout or to go shop. Overall we enjoyed it 👍👍👍
Bought some pastries for my wife's birthday - absolutely stunning. I also had the lamb sausage roll and found it mouthwateringly delicious. Best plain and almond croissants I've had in Sydney for some time, strong recommendation.
While the cakes and croissants are good, the prices are definitely a bit steep. I had high expectations for the croissant since there’s so much hype about it but it’s not as fluffy as expected. The coconut tart was pretty good - subtle flavours and wasn’t overly sweet.
This is one of Red and my favourite places to visit. The pastries are to die for and they serve great coffee. The weekly croissant specials I have tried have all been great. My favourite so far was the mixed berry and cheesecake.
Another reason we keep coming back is my mother loves their cakes. We have bought a number of their full size cakes, all are exceptional and great value for money considering the quality, ingredients and flavours.
My mother and family all thoroughly enjoyed the special cake which was dark chocolate mousse, raspberry marshmallow, passion fruit cream, brownie and raspberry chantilly.
I’ll be back for another cake on Mother’s Day.
