Fabulous semi-basement (hence name) daytime cafe with emphasis on fresh, tasty and organic. Gorgeous late breakfast of fully flavoursome vegetarian omelette (served with sourdough) and simply poached eggs and mushroom with toast. Simple but delightful (not so sure about the coffee though - a little bitter and powdery).
A little small cafe with some variety on the menu for coffee awesome cafe food you can definitely visit the place if you are looking for some snacks a spending some time with someone
Venue:
Tiny space at Liverpool street Darlinghurst,
I think when You blink and you’ll miss this place 😝
Service:
Girl who took my order was friendly.
Barista was not so chatty, even though not so busy and he looks so intimidating !
Food & Drink:
Just had a piccolo.
Happy hour start 1.30, and coffee cost $2.
Coffee beans powered by Campos, one of big name in industry.
Great staff, good seating, nice sun, varied menu. Delicious food and coffee. The homemade crumpets are amazing. Will be back next time we are in Sydney
Really good food and coffee. Had the shakshouka and green eggs on crumpets which were both really tasty along with good coffee (long black and a hot flat white) which is unfortunately normally absent in Sydney but not here!
Dropped in for a coffee. Not a big place and surrounded by many of the known coffee places about. The coffee was fantastic and opted for a second! The lunch menu looks good so will be back.
I visited The Bunker over the Christmas Holidays with a few mates for a catch up and we all had such a good time. The food was splendid and it wasn't too expensive. The coffee was strong and gave us the caffeine we so desperately needed.
We'll definitely be back!
Had the Bunker Reuben, looks super tasty, but unfortunately somewhat dry. Could do with some mustard. Big serving though, lots of meat. Taking half of it home.
My friend had the crazy mushrooms, which looked incredible and tasted delicious. Definitely the better choice.
Coffee was great, service good and friendly.
Would come again but no more Reuben.

Ok let me start by saying this has to be one of the most underrated places in Darlinghurst !
Small and unassuming you wouldn't be blamed for thinking it was just another run of the mill coffee shop. But it's not, they bring love to the table, their love of food and coffee.
Campos coffee is always the best way to start a good breakfast morning and well the food I guess I'll let you discover it for yourself
I enjoyed my Cappuccino ($3.50) using Campos Coffee and the Babyccino ($1.50) for Miss 1 year old comes with a lid and straw for extra safety from spillage. Bacon and Egg Roll ($7.50) is premade and warmed up but still pretty good without being too dry and comes with a side of tomato relish. Friendly and efficient service that seem to have regulars happily coming back for their coffee fix. Local gem vibe and quirky decor with some tempting specials on the menu.
Just needed a green tea for the trip home on the train to get the detox effect working. It was nice they steeped my tea and removed my tea bag/leaves but I was in a little bit of a rush. Not my favourite blend - but a good cup of tea.
Love this place. It's my local and favorite cafe in Darlo. Friendly staff and great service. Coffee is always good and the Scrambled Eggs and bacon is as good as if not better than the more expensive Bills down the road.
This place is so incredibly cute and trendy. Dark and cosy with lovely wooden tables; whay got me the most were the tiny little stools. True bunker style! Small and cosy, the staff were super lovely and service was incredibly efficient. Coffee is okay. I guess when it's served in tiny cups, you don't get a chance to savour it as it goes cold so quickly. The food was delicious! I got my usual of scrambled eggs and bacon which I couldn't fault. My friends opted for the green eggs which were also gorgeous. Would definitely recommend
Great customer service, good but quirky vibes, food was yum and everyone else's in the cafe looked good too!
Beautiful house made crumpets with maple syrup & bacon. Very fast service great breakfast. Cute little cafe.
Excellent coffee, reserving judgment on the food. Cool interior and friendly service. Latte was the best I've had in Sydney. Reuben was let down by the big, thick, chewy chunk of corned beef (not even sliced with the grain) but I'd give the rest of the menu a chance.
I really enjoyed our light lunch at The Bunker. This is the kind of cafe I would love to go to regularly if it was close to where I lived. The food options were simple but there was plenty to choose from and I thought the sandwiches were tasty, fresh and light.
The Reuben sandwich comes in lightly toasted rye with a generous stack of fairly thin, and quite tasty corned beef. It may not mention it on the menu, but rocket leaves do find their way into the sandwich, distracting the flavours of other key components. Not a great deal of horseradish in there, either.
Not bad still. Just moved back into the area, and i have to say the bunker is thankfully still going strong.
Great find!. Had to go to St Vincent's hospital and had a bit of time to look for a good coffee. Found the Bunker and have been back 4 or 5 times for good food and coffee. I have had sandwiches, the egg and bacon roll with relish, the home made baked beans with chorizo and good old poached eggs. Nothing but praise for this little hole in the wall where quality reigns and unpretentious staff are a pleasure to deal with.
Excellent brunch at inner syd.
Good value for money
Best tea and coffee. Their chicken sandwich is amazing! Very reasonably priced. Laid back ambience. Their communal table reminds me of Melbournion hipster cafe! Friendly staff. Experience of true local culture. Love going back there every once in a while.
Superb tender and juicy slow cooked pork belly on miche roll with a sticky balsamic dressing - wish there was more of it! The corned wagyu Swiss cheese & sauerkraut bunker Sanger was also extremely fresh with fresh ingredients - not as great as the pork belly roll. He bunker homemade crumpet with ricotta & berry compote was nice & chewy and not dense at all. Overall a fantastic experience & exceptional coffee - will be back!!
Best coffee in town!. There's no coffee like bunker's. The cafe's vibe is always good, with great music and cool baristas.. you just can't get enough.
Delicious! Went to The Bun.... Delicious!
Went to The Bunker for breakfast after seeing pictures of the homemade crumpets - they did not disappoint! A nice change from pancakes, and not too sweet like some breakfasts can be.The chorizo hash was also a tasty and unique dish. Drinks (flat white and iced coffee) were good and served quickly. Only downside is that it is a small place and once it started getting busy, we did feel a bit cramped. But that didn't affect the quality of food!
The homemade crumpets were delicious. I normally don't order sweet for breakfast but these crumpets have changed my mind
What's not to love about bunker? I find the staff cool and friendly and the coffee is great. I get one every day as I work close by. I have the occasional bfast and m never disappointed.
Love This Place!. This is my regular haunt for weekend breakky and I gotta say that in the 2 years I have been coming here I have never once had a bad experience! Staff are just lovely, coffee is very good and the food and changing specials never disappoint. Keep up the good work bunk!
Perfect. Basically exactly what a cafe should be. Friendly staff, great coffee, fresh, delicious food, no attitude.
Positives:
Well-made Campos Coffee, great sandwiches, speedy service, very friendly staff
Negatives:
Bit small so can get extremely busy - testament to its quality but sometimes you just have to walk past and compromise.
Like, like, like. I had the corned wagyu sanga with pickles and sauerkraut. Eight tender slices stacked jaw breakingly high, oozing with mayo. Sour dough was soft and lightly toasted. Expensive at $16 but nonetheless delish.
Brilliant coffee! Best I've had in a while! And was lovely and cosy on a rainy day in Sydney!
Hunker at the bunker. I was happy to have stumbled across this appropriately named cafe on Liverpool St. Scott says he specialises in coffee and he serves up a quality cuppa - assisted by a great choice of brand, namely Campos. I ordered an iced tea for my mate while we hunkered down for a business meeting - outside being 41C heat. Remember that day, Sydney!! Cool place, assisted by a well functioning fan! I'll certainly return. (See my pic of the iced tea and capp. )
Shium. I love Bunker because of their excellent coffee and food.Staff are very friendly and co-operative.They always try to satisfy their customers.Small kitchen but they try to make quality food.
Awesome.. Great food, coffee and it continually buzzes. Love it
QUE CAFE!. This place just gets it so right, good mince on toast too
60's rock on the stereo, genuinely friendly staff and a breakfast menu that offered more than egg only combinations. Great value and quality (the fruit salad & beans/bacon were fantastic), I will be back. Just note it's charm is due to small size so don't arrive with a large group.
Superb coffee. Very cosy feel. Great location. Friendly staff. Thumbs up!!!
Surprising find. Cute little hole-in-the-wall cafe, with great coffee, service and a sense of style. Especially like the homestyle food e.g. toast soldiers, toad-in-the-hole..and yummy sourdough to boot.
Fantastic coffee. Friendly service. Homestyle food.
A cute little gem with genuinely friendly staff. They greet everyone who comes in and on their way out with big smiles.
The coffee was great and my omelette with chorizo, roasted potatoes and parmesan was very tasty. It was perfectly cooked and the serving was big.
The Reuben Sandwich was wonderful. I am not a big fan of corned beef but I really enjoyed it. But the Pork Belly Sandwich was somewhat disappointing though. The flavours of the pork not great and the roll tasted ordinary. For a sandwich you really need to impress your customers with your bread.
I like the rustic decor and furnitures but they are not very comfortable.
Have been going to The Bunker Darlinghurst for past 5 years. Coffee is consistent and the staff always the best care of us. Reuben Corn Beef is one of my favorites. Great Spot lived up to the hype!!
This cafe has a great atmosphere and the staff were friendly and attentive. The coffee wasn’t the best I’ve had in Sydney but it did the job! The breakfast was delicious- especially the mushroom omelette.
Coming from Melbourne where there is an abundance of great coffee places I needed a nice little cafe to fulfill my coffee habits while my girlfriend spent a year living in Darlinghurst. Our first stop was Bunker and I wasn't disappointed. One of my favourite places to enjoy breakfast and coffee outside on a warm Sydney morning.
Lovely cafe, simple but delicious food and coffee, great cozy atmosphere, will go back!
Cosy place with good coffee and friendly staff. Not suitable for large groups but perfect for a catchup with a couple of close friends.
Great coffee. Good breakfast. Sit outside and enjoy the atmosphere. There are quite a lot of customers sitting around here during lunch.
Entered the cafe and was greeted with great customer service. I have to say, I loved the coffee and food here as well as the atmosphere it exudes! It's a great place to enjoy a quick break. Would definitely come back again anytime! Highly recommend!
