This is my all time favourite Turkish restaurant to go too. I absolutely love the grills here, they never disappoint. Cooked to perfection - juicy and tender, makes it hard to pick what I want so I usually get the mixed grill. The dips are phenomenal, all of them have the best flavour but my combo is the hommus and chilli- wow!! The iskender is the best here, never had it anywhere as good. Love the cosy ambience of this restaurant and the feeling of being relaxed and enjoying my Saturday night out with some belly dancer to watch - who by the way is very interactive with the crowd and pleasant to watch!
Had the dips as recommended by a friend. Friendly staff let me try their dips before I made my decision. Hommus and Baba Ganoush (eggplant) were a tie last night. Will return to try the other dips and the kebab :)) Beautiful home made dips and addictive :))
Hands down the best Turkish Pide in Sydney.
The rainbow dips are awesome to dip your pide into also.
I get the sausage, spinach, cheese and egg!
Can’t wait to come here again.
I love Turkish food and I have eaten a fair bit of it this year. ERCIYES is the OG and has been my favourite since 2001. My only gripe is I don’t live around the corner anymore and it’s too far to get my regular pide fix. I need more excuses for dinners in the Redfern/ Surry Hills area.

This was standout Turkish but you pay for it. There was a high level of quality in all the dishes. Tender tasty meat, fresh-made rice and veges, good dips. The pide was a standout, with crisp bases/exteriors but oily flavoursome interiors, something I hadn't seen outside of Turkey, plus good chunks of tender lamb on one of them. Of course, $17 for a pide and over $20 for grills requires this quality. The servings are a reasonable size but not huge.
I love this place. It's been a family favourite for as long as I can remember. Good food at reasonable prices and the staff were friendly, courteous, and accommodating.
Order the parsley dip with some Turkish bread as a starter; it's to die for!
The dips and the bread were great, the main were also nice however not out of the world. My friends really enjoyed the lentil soup however it tasted to me more like Indian Arhaar Daal. There was a big dance performance by a Middle East dancer, not belly but similar and the audience really enjoyed as she was trying to get people to dance with her. I just found it to be but it on the pricey side from a overall value point of view.
Can't comment on the service as was really quick bite and didn't book so had to flip the table quickly. The food, however, delicious!!! Got a falafel plate, 4 crispy outside, well seasoned delish balls, generous dollop of homos and tabouli and peynirli pide. Fresh turkish bread, delicious salty cheese, fluffy eggs. One of the best Ive had. Looking forward to going back to try more of the menu.

Went back after 10 years and the quality is still as great as ever. Had a beautiful Turkish coffee and their signature pide. Stomach is happy.
Mar17 Ordered the beef Iskender. It was pretty delicious.the quantity was insane and I actually had to do a take away . The bread alone was a meal by itself . The takeaway section is almost like a different restaurant

Definitely our go to Turkish fix that's more than just kebabs.
There's a lot of kebab joints in Sydney and this separates itself from competitors by offering awesome pide, mix dips, casseroles and grilled meats. The venue is big and can easily cater to large groups. The staff is friendly and everything is made fresh (e.g. bread for dips come hot and crispy).
Of note, there's belly dancing on certain nights and it might not be your thing if you want a quiet dinner.
My go to place for pides. So tasty and great size !!! I also love there doner kebabs but those are the only 2 I ever order. Been going here for kebabs for over 20yrs now and still love it.
I have been frequenting Erciyes for over a decade and always leave happy and full.
Competitively priced, there's a great range of Turkish food with dips, pides, grills, casserole and salads.
Great family restaurant with amazing dips and fresh pide to go with it. Fav dish is the beef inskender which is kebab on fresh diced pide with yoghurt and tomato paste. For first timers I suggest indulging in the banquet but go hungry.
Saturday nights they have a belly dancer which creates a fun mood.
BEST HUMMUS IN THE WORLD.
Sometimes I just eat it with a spoon at home.
What is the secret ????
Freshly baked turkish bread made to order. It doesn't get better than this. With the dips its amazing! The pide is also made to order. My favourite is the spicy lamb. So much flavour and a good kick.
I bloody love this place for their delicious food and $3 fresh warm Turkish bread!
Those nights where you need something yummy to go with dinner you will always find something tasty here.
This place is great if you're looking for delicious food for a big group and a BYO option. I went with one other and the portions were so big we were full by the time we'd finished our entrees but luckily they encourage doggy bags!
The mixed dip platter was the absolute highlight! Each dip was delicious as the next and the Turkish bread was fresh out of the oven and addictive! We also ordered the eggplant which was filled with mushroom and capsicum as well as the lamb, cheese, egg and spinach pide and chicken iskender kebab. The chicken was delicious although the dish in its entirety is something I would never usually order.
I would highly recommend this place if you're after authentic, well-priced Turkish and old school service with personality and fun. Just make sure you order the dips!
This place is great. The food is authentic and their staff go all out to bring you a lively experience! I went there in a group and we were treated like Turkish royalty! If you're only passing through if recommend their very well priced takeaway options!
Walking through the entry you can see the Turkish breads made fresh on the premises. Ordered the mixed grill and at $41 didn't seem to be fantastic value but was delicious nonetheless. We supplemented with a babaganoush and Turkish bread ($11), and barely finished the feast between two. As it happened to be a Saturday night there a session of entertaining belly dancing. Would recommend trying this restaurant if you're in the area.
Best kebabs ever! Have been here heaps & will keep coming back.
I've you read any of my other posts you'll quickly found it I'm quite the fan of fatty food. Burgers, bacon, whatever. If it contains a high value of cholesterol I'll eat it. One of the easiest fatty foods to get around Sydney is kebab. Especially around the club areas as Kings Cross, Oxford Street and George Street. But what if you feel like kebab when you’re aren't filthy drunk on a Saturday night? Luckily there is Ericyes, a Turkish restaurant on the border of Surry Hills and Redfern, where Cleveland Street meets Crown.
Do you have a fall-back food option that’s forever reliable and you know that you’ll never be disappointed? The kind of restaurant that you know will always be open with tables available, when you get turned away at the door from the new hip restaurant in town? Erciyes in Surry Hills is one of mine, though it doesn’t look like much from the outside. Dominated by their front-of-house bright-lit takeaway counters and soft drink fridges, you need to push past the crowds of people waiting for their takeaway pides and kebabs to get to their restaurant. K and I took my nephew there on one of his last evenings in Sydney as a special treat – good Turkish food isn’t something that’s readily found in Hong Kong so I was keen for him to try the food! Babagonush, $11 We started off simply with with the babagonush which was served with a basket heaped with hot sliced Turkish bread, straight out of the oven. We had to explain to my cousin how to eat this as it was quite a foreign concept for him to ea
It was easily one of the most memorable dining experiences I have ever had. Partly due to the splendid house Chardonnay which I drank a whole bottle of (I love my wine) but mostly because I was not expecting them to serve such great food.
So good. Agree with everyone saying that the dips are really delicious. Who knew dips could be so good! They taste really really fresh, packed full of flavour & come with heaps of warm toasty turkish bread. Supermarket dips no longer cut it.
The pides are really good too.
Just a great cheap and cheerful place to go for dinner with a bottle of BYO wine. Would be a good place for a large group too. Decor is not that great so probably wouldn't choose this place if you want to impress your hot new date - but other than that, it's great.
Delicious. Amazing Turkish food- decor isn't the best but don't let it put you off! The pides are fantastic
My family has been going here for 20+ years. Can't beat the mixed dips! Avoid Friday and Saturday nights if you don't like to belly dance...
Been eating here for a long time. Best to get some take away dips (baba and hommus and Chilli) and fresh house made bread. Can't go wrong!
Enjoyed the dips and Turkish pizza. Service was okay. Great value for money
Dips Dips Dips. It is all about the dips here- eat in or take away.
Hummus and Baba are the stars.
The chilli used to have some real heat but has been a bit hit and miss lately- is still delicious and the parsley is very refreshing.
I don't buy supermarket dips anymore or bother making my own they just do not compare
Fresh dips, tasty pides and awesome iskender! Busy on weekends so be sure to book in advance. Go for the food, not the service.
Had a great dinner here, the dips, falafel and vine leaves do good but the Iskender kebab is to die for!!!!
Awesome pide and yummy kebabs any way you want it. The dips are amazing and made fresh on site. Also the sweets are to die for.
Fantastic atmosphere, lovely food, great dancing. Portions could be bigger, had to order alot to feed four people but it all tasted great.
Best Turkish in the east. Dips are amazing and so are the grilled meats!! It's byo too- all round great value
Chicken Kebab This is Where Its At!. OMG I have eaten a lot of Kebabs, Euros, Souvlaki, whatever you want to call it depending where you are from. Many times drunk, many times sober. It is the memorable sober kebabs that means that they are a sure fire winner. For me that winner is Erciyes, their chicken kebab with in house made breads are the best! The whole package is great, I have only had take away thus far but am very eager to eat in. So get your drunk or sober kebab fix here you will not be dissapointed.
Quick Takeaway tip: get some dips and bread, PHENOMINAL!
Pide Piper. This iconic Turkish Cafe/restaurant has a take away section and a sit down area. All busy.
Prices are low and sizes are large. Great formula.
Cheap prices for tasty soups - yoghurt soup and lentil soup both $7.
2 types of banquets at $35 and $45 make for a true gorge-fest. Guaranteed to waddle out of here unless you exercise the meal off by joining the belly dancers. Busy place - so book ahead. But worth coming- esp with a large group.
They make fantastic doner kebabs!
Great Pide. Easily the best Turkish Pide around. I always go for the Chicken Pide. The Mixed Dips plate is also good.
Staff are usually pretty friendly.
Have to wait for the Pide though so calling them in advance for takeaway is my strategy.
The BEST Turkish food in Surry hills! Pides are delicious and without all the grease you find elsewhere. Can't go past a sneaky lamb shish roll takeaway on a late night!
If you want good well priced fresh food, look no further.... this little gem has it all. You won't be disappointed :-)
The best place to go for fantastic food and entertainment in the weekend. Definately go with a group and go for the banquet menu, authentic Turkish food at it's greatest in all of Sydney.
Incredible food! The salad tasted as if the leaves had just been picked and the olives and onions were divine. The bread was freshly made and cooked but was a touch greasy ( the ONLY complaint) dips were all superbly presented and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. Main courses of a mixed grill and pide were sublime - the feast for the stomach was over and the feast for the eyes was to begin ... Go at the weekend and the belly dancer will dance at your table for free. This is not a cheap tacky display but a stunning dancer who knows what she is doing and is happy to chat! Food 9/10 atmosphere 8/10 service 10/10
Fantastic. Been looking for a place like this fof a while. Decor is OK but you don't eat the decor. The service is great, quick, unobtrusive and polite. The food is fantastic. Our Greek salad was so fresh it Practically jumped out of the bowl. The entered and mains are an exotic mix of flavours that would energise even the most jaded palate. I'll go back as soon as I can. The Belly Dancer at 8:30 was great too!!!
Surely the best. Pide in the world ?
Go with a bunch of friends to enjoy the belly dancing on the weekends. Awesome pides and mezze plates.
Great for fresh Turkish bread and tastey dips!
Delicious Shish Kebabs and Pide .
It’s a great place to grab a meal and catch up with friends.
There are Belly Dancers on the weekend to shake the room ..
Good, efficient service. Lovely Doner kebab and Chicken kebab both $15 each for takeaway, with good portions. Would love to come back to dine in when the lockdown is over.
Amazing food and great service. Good portions too. The below servings were shared between my partner and I easily, with food left over. The photos do not do it justice. I intend to try everything on the menu. I will be back
A nice Turkish restaurant in Surry Hill. Nothing fancy but above the average Turkish Mediterranean style food. Recommended
Very generous serving. Best Turkish resto in Sydney, I must say!
