Great food so many different beers to choose from great new menu, the mussels are great and the tiramisu and the smashed pavlova deserts are awesome (so good you don't want to share) đź‘Ťđź‘Ť
Great.
Tiny restaurant but our kind of place. Understated, underrated, good food and good value. Also 1 Hatted for numerous years including 2016.
Pastas were all really good. House made pasta texture and tasty sauces/fillings.
The mains were decent, the beef wasn't spectacular but the fish and the lamb were good.
Desserts were all good.
The pub food comes out of the same kitchen so we're tempted to go back and try it.
Pleasantly surprised with Ajo. Spur of the moment choice which turned out to be most enjoyable. Great staff, food was very good and the restaurant has a nice feel. We sat in the outdoor area which was closed up to be weather protected. Pasta is hand made fresh and so delicious. Between us we had the ravioli and the duck ragu fettuccini which had us both eating and not talking. Very yummy.
We instantly agreed to return again soon.
Very impressed. Great selection of craft beers and very lovely atmosphere. Came here for a bite to eat after our shipping trip. Ordered the rosemary wedges and lamb shoulder pie. Delicious! Lamb pie was loaded with flavour and lots of filling. Wedges were crispy and yum. Definitely would eat here again.
Excellent bistro in a pub that has a great craft beer tap selection. Ajo the formal restaurant inside offers superb dining. The pork cutlet with slaw was perfectly cooked and the Eton mess was delicious.
Ye aulde school. 2nd stop on the Balmain pub crawl, the Welcome is a historic pub that has been open since the 1890s. After all this time it is very much part of the fabric of Balmain, as is obvious from its popularity and strong local feel. Our meals were all good and generous in size, with the awesome osso buco pie winning the food envy prize for the night.
No idea how Ajo ended up with an average score of 2.8 because this quiet hideaway is excellent. Delicious food, great wine selection, knowledgable and friendly staff. We enjoyed a gluttons feast! But particular standout applause for the swordfish with beetroot, tender beef flank and basil panacota and raspberry and ruby grapefruit granita.
The welcome is my sisters local and is a consistently solid dinner pick. I always enjoy the pork cotoletta with homemade slaw. The steak and burgers are also really good. I love the zucchini flowers with goat cheese, thyme and almonds.
Went for sunday long lunch. No WOW factor. Food steady but a tad boring. You may be better off eating from the Pub Menu. I had heard a lot about this place.
As part of Sydney Craft Beer Week – The Welcome Hotel located in Rozelle plays host to the rather amazing BeerMimicsFood(2) Event. Australia’s most innovative beer fest goes national and we get to try the brews here. This event is all about the unlimited flavour potentials of beers and its one to try next year as some of the beer/food pairing were pretty novel and we gotta say, this was a great one off. Awesome beers, crowd and eats. A look at the welcome from the street side. Its recently renovated and a nice local in Rozelle. Regs at the Welcome Hotel. The front room is classic pub Packed full of beer people, craft brewers and beer VIPs. Welcome is quite a large pub – this is the 2nd courtyard and this one has an operable louvered roof over. The main courtyard out the back where BMF2 is taking place. Here’s a look at the menu for today. Note how if you work your way down the list, the beers increase in potency. Dennis Beer Co’s is a nice 8%. Good times. Drink you way down or drink yo

"I'm sorry I led you into temptation," simpers Mimi (our Adele look-a-like waitress, with a Manchester accent) as she lays down the cutlery for Ricotta Fritters ($14.50) . Dotted with chocolate chips and drizzled with warm apple blossom honey, they’re the crowning glory on a wonderfully unexpected pub meal in a venue that makes you feel like part of the family. There’s a real chef in the kitchen - my first clue was the super-fine eschallot vinaigrette dice accompanying freshly shucked Pambula Oysters ($3.50/each) . Daniel Mulligan, who recently jumped ship from Pilu at Freshwater , aces both seafood and Italianate flavours, from Black Cobia Fillet with Cloudy Bay Clams, Artichoke and Chicory ($30) ... ...to silky Kipfler Potato Gnocchi with Pork and Fennel Ragu ($24) . The wine list offers up prices that suit a midweek tipple - like the 2011 Yalumba Bush Vine Grenache ($36) – but Nick Davies’ craft beer list is where the real magic is at. From bottled beers, like the pretty
Another fantastic dish served up: I adored the balance of juicy sweetness from the peach, salty meatiness of the prosciutto, and creaminess of the burratina.
Beautiful food in a beautiful space. The zucchini flower was a little bland - I've had much better - but the pumpkin ravioli with leek was just stunning, as was the pistachio Eton mess. Service was friendly and efficient.
Wow! Dare I say 'fine dining'! And in a pub! What a contrast, great local pub atmosphere on one side and fantastic fine dining on the other! Spatchcock was amazing! Would recommend the restaurant for anyone looking for a casual fine dining experience!
Fantastic food, great service, would come back.
The best. This pub stands apart from other pubs in Sydney. The bartenders are proper old school bartenders, and they pour a mean Guiness.
It's got a traditionalfeel, but the food is not what you'd expect to find in a pub. Lots of fresh seafood and roast specials - you can tell someone in the kitched loves what they do... and they are very, very good at it.
Classic pub, beautiful food. The Welcome is one of my regular stops... Always pop by before a Tigers match, and have had quite a few Sunday sessions in their beer garden.
Can't say enough how much I like this pub. The bartenders know what they are doing, and they know all of the many locals by name. It's kind of tucked away , cozy and traditional feeling - and the food is consistently delicious.
Highly recomend.
A real gem in rozelle. Classic old English style pub but with the best feature of an Aussie pub: a big beer garden drenched in sun!
One of the best pubs in the country. Without a doubt the best pub grub I've ever had, but the real treasure is the bistro that has some truly special dining on offer.
Outstanding pub and kitchen. The food is top shelf, with a limited but well selected range of craft beers on tap. If you stopped going because of the below par food back around mid 2019, you need to go back, the kitchen is completely transformed. The Sunday roast is also incredible.
Dog friendly, which is a huge plus too. Love this place.
What a perfect name for such a welcoming pub. I walked in a moment after last drinks had been called (for my first visit) after a nearby dinner, to catch the last overs of the cricket. 99% of pubs would have said sorry, we’re done. After all, it was 9:30pm on a Sunday. However, Kylie and Rosie went above and beyond when it came to service. Had me in for a beer with the cricket on tv. Super friendly; it felt like a nice lounge room (only with clean, local beer on tap).
Authentic pub, just how everybody likes it. Despite the time of day/week they were kind to give me the history and were enthusiastic in doing so.
My only regret is that I haven’t yet joined for Sunday roast but now that I know about this, I’ll be back soonest for that. The Welcome indeed. Long live!
Thanks for having me and being so hospitable. A credit to the venue and the wider industry as a whole. See you again! Five stars.
Great Sunday roast and a nice variety of menu options.
Cozy friendly atmosphere, quiet place where you can bring your kids or dogs or both. Lots of different beers on tap, good selection of food. Small space so book a table if there's a few of you.
