Folonomo is the abbreviation of ‘For Love Not Money’. It’s all about putting people before profits. An incredible 100% of all the profits made by the restaurant is given to non profit organisations. The restaurant is set in a renovated terrace house, it’s BYO and the food is seriously good. #folonomo
My best meal during my visit to Sydney! The atmosphere was great as well! Highly recommend you come here, great for dates as well!
We had the set menu.
Love this space and it’s concept. They happily allowed us to do a a vegan and a normal tasting menu with out any issue all of which was delicious with a great choice would recommend especially since the space donated the profits.
Folonomo Restaurant and Gratia Cafe is Sydney's first 'profit for purpose' restaurant. At Folonomo, they want to celebrate Australia - a diverse, multicultural country through their curated menu. They want to encourage the spirit of community, collaboration and compassion. 100% of their profits go towards fostering a positive change in the world; both locally and globally. Gratia Cafe is the sister cafe to Folonomo (they
Excellent dining experience with a heart, the proceeds promised to be going to not for profit groups. We had the chicken and tomato salad against the beautiful rustic backdrop of exposed bricks and soft lighting. I really liked the pot plants in the rear courtyard too. Faultless with friendly and efficient staff.
One of my favourite restaurant ! The food and cocktails are absolutely delicious and the staff is friendly and helpful. Plus the concept is unique - all the profits go to the charity ! 5++++++++
A charity restaurant, very interesting concept.
But the quality of food is high. We came as a group of 8 that's why we ordered the banquet menu plus the lamb to share. Exceptional value, very hearty.
I really love the crab and the lamb. Chicken breast is surprisingly soft.
Make sure you book otherwise it hard to get seat if just walk in.
This is an excellent place to go! Really charming with beautiful decoration and cozy atmosphere! Food and service are great (have the sunflower seed risotto - highly recommended!!!). BYO!
So after talking about Folonomo and failed attempts to get there, we finally made a booking to try this place out. Part of the problem was that Folonomo is on Bourke Street, Surry Hills, which isn’t one of the closest streets to the main drag. Also, when one is hungry, we don’t tend to want to walk that far until our feed.

Came for dinner after having breakfast and loving it. Great atmosphere, music and (again) very good service. Food was cooked perfectly, full of flavour and nicely presented. On top of it all the concept of the place (non for profit) is quite unique. A must!

I like light and fresh food that makes you feel good and you would not make yourself at home. This is exactly what they served.
We tried several dishes and they were all delicious and had complex flavours and ingredients you wouldnt usually cook with yourself at home. Loved it, would come again.
Also helps they give to charity.
Enjoyed a wonderful Valentines Day 5 course degustation dinner. The food was presented well and a delight to eat supported by very attentive and polite service. Definitely worth checking out this restaurant and it's great social values.
So, a financier (which is a good word, isn’t it?) named Matthew Byrne has financed a ‘social enterprise’ restaurant and cafe called Folonomo (For Love Not Money) and Grazie respectively. I’m expecting they pay their staff a proper wage, and then the profits go all to charity. Who would have thought?
Given the passion for their work shown by Michelle and Jo working in the kitchen (we were at the chefs table enjoying the action) it's no surprise that the food at Folonomo is among the best in Sydney in presentation, innovation and of course flavour. This is a definite must. Try the golden mousse dessert it is amazing ! We will be back.
Fantastic restaurant in Surry Hills! The food is awesome and at the end of the meal each diner can choose which of three non-profits they would like the profits from their meal donated to. Doing good has never tasted so good! Highly recommend this restaurant!

A very beautiful little cafe, try and sit out the back if you can. The staff were quite attentive and the food came out very fast.
The only fault I could find was the ratio between the base of our dishes and the main ingredient. As you can see in the photo, my dish came with a halloumi croquette topped with two poached eggs, and by the time I had finished one poached egg the croquette was all gone.
In reality this is a ver minor fault though, overall it was a great meal and not too expensive.
Full of personality! The six founders run the show and their personal touch is felt in the food and the service. I came here for a cafe and returned for dinner. I loved it. Plus, I bought a bit extra guilt free knowing the profit goes to a worthy cause.
Four of us had the $65 menu and everything was so delicious. The service was excellent. Loved the place and will definitely be back. Only downfall was the uncomfortable metal chairs.
I hosted a party at Folonomo for around 50-60 people, and I couldn't be happier with the venue, food, drinks, and service. The spot worked perfectly for most of the group to be in the main area, but with plenty of space in the interior courtyard for people to spread out for quieter chats together.
I asked for vegetarian & vegan canapes and all of the food was just delicious - even the meat-eaters were raving about the food.
By far, though, the best was the kind and thoughtful help from the team while I did the planning leading up to the event. They were really on top of all the details and helped me craft a perfect evening. I was very, very happy with how the evening went off, and highly recommend this as a venue you can not only feel good about using, but also will be a pleasure to work with.
I held my post wedding party at Folonomo for roughly 50 guests. From the moment I first dealt with Nico and the team they were exceptionally friendly, responsive on email and nothing was ever too much trouble. The food and drink was outstanding and they went over and above what any other venue would have done. I'm so happy with how everything turned out and would highly recommend them- all the guests were raving about the venue and staff and the best part is that it is all for a good cause with profits being donated to charities. If I could give 10 stars I would!
I hosted a party for approx 70 people at Folonomo and it was amazing. The staff were fantastic and nothing was too difficult, the space was beautiful and the food delicious - and of course the best part was knowing that I had chosen somewhere that was also creating a social impact. I couldn't recommend it highly enough!
