Review Posto No. 19 - Sydney

Alexandra Lalaneats
Beautiful staff, venue and lovely refined food. Simple yet elegant dishes from the chefs here! Loved the Figs and Ricotta on toast, The Scottish Kipper and also the Spicy Smashed Avo on toast was delicious! Definitely recommend it for a coffee stop, breakfast or lunch! The quality of produce is really fresh! P.S. Coffee is delicious, as you can see I had more than a few!

Posto No. 19 is tucked away on Boundary Street away from the hustle and bustle of Darlinghurst Road. The cafe is quite cozy and the interior is cool, calm and minty fresh. We sat near their coffee window on the inside and had a very relaxing and comfortable dining experience. I enjoyed their baked eggs and ricotta pancake.

Very nice brunch and lunch, coffees are so good. The staff is friendly and nice. I ate the best gnocchi of my life! This place is ideal to have a good time with friends.

I discovered this place on Google maps; the ratings were nearly perfect so I figured I’d give it a try. These guys did not disappoint. For starters, the restaurant has a smart layout. It offers convenience for those looking for coffee/tea on the go OR you can venture inside for a proper experience. I ordered a dish from their daily specials and one pancake (I HAD to try it because they looked amazing from other reviews). Let me tell you...EVERYTHING was delicious!! I’m not exaggerating. I was in food heaven. The flavors were outstanding and everything was cooked to perfection. The service was five star as well; everyone was friendly and offered positive vibes to all patrons. Overall, I had a great experience. I understand that there are several options in the area however; do yourself a favor and head over to Posto No. 19. You’ll be happy with your decision.

I came here with my wife today for lunch and we really enjoyed it very much and everything was just very good. What surprised me is that the mocha was really really good. It was so good that I had to order them TWICE in a 1 meal which I never did that in my life. The owner Paul and his son were very friendly and always asked us how the food, drink was at times and we always felt very happy and welcomed. His son actually told me that it was the best mocha he made for me which was an honour for me. The atmosphere was really chilled and relaxing despite on a rainy day. It was unfortunate that a few dishes we wanted to try was out of stock as stated by the owner as I wanted to try the salt & pepper squid dish but we will surely definitely come back again next time. Thank you for all the great service, food and drink! Highly recommended for everyone! Steve

I was there for a meeting and coffee. The waiter was quite friendly. Have to say I am no fan of their coffee. It was too acidic. Xihuahua 🐶 ‘s hated kind. The expresso was served very quickly but there was no other customer.

Loved the salad they had and would definitely recommend it to anyone who visits the place. The breweries of the place are great too. The sandwiches are really nice.

Brunch at Posto No.19 was so beautiful. The chilli avocado toast was a great kick on a winters day and the mushrooms on toast were super! Honestly mushroom dishes are so underrated, don’t knock it til you try it!
Fantastic coffee and daily sandwich and salad specials. Despite being near a lot of workplaces it’s a quiet atmosphere with plenty of seating.

If you’re not paying attention you might walk past a couple of shaded umbrellas and a roaring coffee machine nestled between a couple of businesses and beneath an old art gallery. When you enter this almost secret place, you see that Posto really makes use of the space they’ve been given. The cafe is stretched across a split level and is surprisingly big for what seemed to be a hole-in-wall cafe at first glance. With a chilled, Swedish chic vibe, the staff recognise most of the patrons who must be locals or just frequent return visitors – which is a true testament to the service and quality of Posto!
Cool Beans Life
Posto No.19 is tucked away on Boundary Street in Darlinghurst and is an up and comer in the Sydney brunch scene. With a wide window outside for any takeaway orders and a large interior with lots of seating space, it caters for a quick coffee and sweet treat and also a lazy Sunday brunch. Given that it’s winter, Isha was really grateful that they had blankets inside to help feel even cosier. The decor inside Posto No.19 is really funky and has a fancy warehouse feel to it with incredible lighting! The interior is filled with lots of artwork, one we liked in particular that was done recently that showcased coffee.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
A father and son affair, Posto No. 19, is owned by Paul and Will Jacobs. You’ll notice the outside tables first, on the shady side of Boundary Street, sandwiched between rag trade and cosmetic surgery neighbours. It’s an unusual piece of contemporary architecture, with lots of industrial touches, from glass to exposed metal girders and polished aggregate floors. The coffee machine – working with Deluca Coffee – takes pride of place in the front window, with staff facing outside. Behind them you’ll find a café-style set-up overlooking a cosier area with a lounge room feel. Being at the bottom of a tower block, the building makes the most of the available light using a glass sided corridor where you can watch plastic surgery clients doing the walk of shame. Bird noise from the leafy green trees outside provides a link back to nature in this intensely urban landscape.Despite the modern surrounds, Posto No. 19 is a relaxed café, even on a busy Saturday morning. It serves a quiet collection of locals with their attention focused upon phones and computers, even with actor Hugo Weaving sitting at one of the tables. Fresh from a knockout season with Sydney Theatre Company playing a fascist leader in The Resistable Rise of Arturo Ui, Weaving is afforded privacy to breakfast with his family in peace. We bury our noses in coffees to...
Snapshots Of Food
When these pancakes arrived at our table, we had a moment of silence. It looked stunning! The pancakes were fluffy on the inside with a nice firm texture on the outside - even when the whipped cream and blueberry compote had been sitting there for a while! I assumed the pancake will be soggy. The sauce wasn't overly sweet and we enjoyed each mouthful without that sweet, sickening feel. Matt licked his plate clean!

A charming venue with duel level dining and outdoor seating. Perfect for picking up a coffee on the way to work or a stop in visit for breakky or lunch. Lovely welcoming staff, and a very chilled environment.

I can ascertain that most dishes on the menu will be delicious with fresh, quality ingredients and a magnificent chef behind the scenes! I loved the Figs & Ricotta on toast, and the beautiful Spiced Smashed Avo! The in house smoked kipper was also amazing and different, bringing back a classic in a refined setting. The coffee is delicious here and I love the space, it's so peaceful. This really is Simplicity at it's best.

Posto is one of the best places in Darlinghurst and a hidden gem. Highly recommend anyone to check it out - the food is always on point, there is space for prams and large groups. Service has always been warm and friendly which makes it a favourite. Mushrooms on toast are beyond !

Great Cafe with a modern and trendy vibe. Love the ambience and cool/neutral colours throughout.
You also get a homey and comfy feeling when you enter the venue, which is nice.
As a start, their coffee is amazing (from delucca coffee).
Strong and aromatic, just the way I like it.
During this particular visit I had their Beef Burger with Chips and pan fried Prawn Pappardelle. Both dishes are very good but my favourite is the Prawn Pappardelle. It was amazing! I love the chilli garlic lemon in it and that crispy pangritata, so good! Highly recommend.
They also have homemade sweet treats like muffins etc. Wish I could’ve tried but I was so full already. Maybe next time.

The food is great. The sandwiches are sensational. And the service is professional and friendly. A great place for a weekend breakfast or a coffee during the week. Highly recommended.

One of my favourite cafes. Always fresh delicious food. Love the booth seating and best coffee.
Home smoked salmon is amazing but can't upload image for some reason?? Will try again.
My friend ordered these pancakes - and was forced to share they're so good.
Bit of a drive for me but worth it - parking sometimes an issue. So I park in the culdesac behind boundary street 👍🏼
The service and the food were both impeccable. You can tell a lot of time and attention goes into consistently updating the menu. A local favourite that keeps us coming back!

Exceptional fresh, homemade food. Great coffee and always a warm welcome from Paul and his staff. We travel some distance to eat here but it is worth it......the ambiance and warmth is hard to beat; add to that delicious food and great menu choices!! We are definitely repeat customers and highly recommend this gem.

Have eaten here several times now and cannot fault a thing! The food is sensational and really celebrates local fresh seasonal produce. Not to mention, top-ranking coffee and I am a picky coffee drinker!! Last time I dropped in to grab one, I was given such a warm welcome, Paul and his team, just make you feel like you've been buddies for years. Great team, great food, great coffee, great ambiance! FIVE STARS FROM ME! See you soon Posto. x

Posto 19 is as much about the food as it is about the people and the staff. They are happy , and the food is always good. I like the way the owner , Paul, is always around to make it all work . I just leave the lunch order to Paul , and it is fantastic. The coffee is on the ball , and the community table is a great place to sit and catch up .

Consistently delicious. A go-to cafe of ours that we keep going-to because it's consistently good all round.
Clean, fresh food, coffee and atmosphere.
Bad service, over priced and over all average. Every time I go here I hope that I will be proven wrong however the experience is always the same.

The staff do not acknowledge your arrival and you can wait easily for ten minutes before being served. Once you have been served the other staff often ask you have you ordered (only 10 minutes late darling) which reflects a clear a lack of communication between staff. The coffee orders are often confused, and even when they do get it right your latte may come out looking like a flat white.

They really need to buy a new sandwich toaster - I've had banana bread where only one half has been warmed (obvious from the grill marks which were only on one side AND when the butter only melted on half the piece of bread it was evident it was a half- done job). If you want a toasted ham and cheese croissant, forget it. They get this wrong EVERY time. Expect cold ham and half melted cheese (if you're lucky!).

Their main meals are average, often strange combinations of ingredients that makes me wonder who their chef is and for the price it is just not worth eating there.

You would think that being Sydney there would be a base level of quality that a cafe would have to maintain but unfortunately Posto is ideally situated below a block of offices so until there is some close by decent competition I wouldn't expect much to change... Although some basic staff training would make a world of difference!
