nice place. Nice ambience! I ordered katsu Sandwich. Meat is tender and full of flavou, with bit of smoky taste. Scramble egg is outstanding. I like sautéed mushroom as well. Soughdough underneath is soft and tasty. Will be back next time. And try to find a table in backyard:)

Seriously.... look at that egg.... LOOK AT IT. By far the best scrambled eggs and maple bacon I’ve had in aaaaggggeeesss (and I’m not even a big bacon fan). The bacon is on the sweeter side so goes well with something neutral like the eggs, didn’t need to add salt just some pepper and a side of bacon. The service was also 👍👍👍👍 from the waitress to the barista everybody was very polite and attentive. The chai was nice, not my fave (still love the one at circa) but still enjoyable

Trekked here on foot on an extremely hot day and boy we were not disappointed! Offering different and varied brunch options, we had the chicken waffles and the katsu sandwich, both of which were amazing! Perfect portions, addictive flavours and decently priced for cafe food, we were very happy with our time here. Not to mention the indulgent matcha cheesecake was definitely a lovely treat and great way to finish of our meal. To top it off, the staff were so sweet and you know you’ll be well taken care of when you go here as they provide probably one of the best customer service we have experienced at a cafe or any restaurant for that matter!

Great little cafe situated on busy Harris st. Service was good and the outdoor seating at the back created a nice environment to spend a lazy Saturday midday. Coffees and food were good and left me very satisfied. Menu is small and didn't provide much variety, but if you know what you want, you shouldn't have a problem as the options were still all good ones.

Benji..... bring back your matcha cheese cake!!
I was craving for this and decided to re-visit this cafe again, but unfortunately........no more cheese cake!
Well, I just had a picollo, coffee taste as good as before, $3.50 to take away.
Unfortunately I just had lunch, otherwise I will try the “Nasi Q Ning” Indonesian dish that features on the menu!
Anyway, will try next time, and some of photo is the old dishes.

Dropped in before the first day of uni due to a strong craving for rose shaped scrambled eggs. The staff were nice and friendly and the food came fast. Food was amazing and the scrambled eggs were soft, runny, and perfectly creamy on top of the japanese soft bread. They were complemented by the sweetness and delightfulmy crispy texture of the side of caramelized bacon. Would definitely recommend for any bacon and egg cravings!

The Q !
I love it! The backyard is totally beyond my expectation. It’s cozy, cool and roomy. 🎉🎉 it’s Thursday so not so many people around here, so it’s a fantastic place for girl talk.

The toast with egg and salmon is excellent! The ingredients of the yogurt is fantastic and authentic: fresh cheery, blueberry, apricots, peaches 🍑, cereals, ... rich!

Probably the only thing need to improve is that the latte art.... it is a little bit ugly 😌

Anyway, I will definitely invite my friends next time! And boss: Benji he is a nice guy !

Popped in for breakfast before a meeting at the Powerhouse Museum. Started with the croissant, not up to the standard of Paris, but still pretty damn good.

I followed that with scrambled eggs on sourdough with salmon. The eggs were under seasoned, but I sorted that. They also looked moody but weren't. The salmon lacked the flavour of say Aoraki Salmon but it was okay.

The flat white lacked depth

Visited here on a weekday for lunch and sat outdoors. The menu is pretty simple with not too much variety. I ordered the scrambled eggs on japanese soft bread + korroke. The korroke was great, crunchy on the outside and soft inside. Flavour was good too. Simple things done right ! :) I also got their single origin coffee which was amazing as well. The place is nicely decorated with a nice ambiance. Service was friendly and thoughtful as they closed the roof outside considering it was getting quite windy. Would return, but not in the near future.

As the cafe scene in Sydney is on the rise, one must have a distinct identity to attract their customers. Surely, this cafe fit the bill. They sell the matcha cheesecake with an oreo base, which I definitely had to try as I love matcha. The cake did not disappoint. I was surprised to taste yuzu on the cake which made it refreshing and light. The waitstaff were highly attentive to the needs of their diners and always had a smile on their faces. This place has that chill vibe where in customers would just want to linger and drink their coffee at a slower pace. They do have more seats at the back as pointed out by the staff if you are worried about the sitting the capacity.

The Q on Harris the cutest little Japanese fusion cafe and situated in Harris Street in Ultimo. We had heard great things about their matcha oreo cheesecake and were excited to finally try it out.

First things first, you can not come here without trying this cheesecake. The Matcha Oreo Cheesecake was so decadent, the strong matcha flavour perfectly balanced by the sweet creaminess of the cheesecake and the crunchy oreo cookie base. Share it with a friend, or have it by yourself, we won’t judge!

A small cafe in the corner of Harris St - its quite hard to find but finally we were here.

Ordered house smoked salmon tartine and kabuki waffle at first and also do not forget the infamous green tea cheese cake on the end. Price was quite reasonable but the only thing with the cheesecake was too big for one person (for me). I guess its better to share if you would have one meal each person.

Overall service was excellent! Coffee was good and well presented .

I went to this place hearing that they had a matcha cheesecake speciality. They have a small menu, so each dish was unique in its very own way. I ordered the scrambled eggs & caramlised bacon for myself, where my mate ordered the chicken waffles. The food was very delicious! We also ordered all the cakes, which consisted of the pandan and yuzu creme brulee & the matcha cake. The cake was my absolute fav ! Very good textures and matcha flavor & loved how the base was oreo flavored. The creme brulees were very nice aswell, with perfect caramalized sugar top.

Cute little cafe with very friendly staff and great service! I have visited twice, first time I had to try their matcha cheesecake and it was good but a bit hyped up in my opinion. The salmon tartine was also quite average to me, but the mushroom tartine and kabuki waffles were amazing!! The second time I tried the scrambled eggs after seeing it so much on instagram and it definitely lives up to the hype, soft and fluffy Japanese style. The pandan creme brûlée was also so good, I liked it much better than the cheesecake as it had the sugar crust, pandan flavour and crumbly tart base, simply delicious 😍 the friendly waitress there even remembered me from my first visit!

I am only commenting on their desserts as I saw photos of their famous matcha cheesecake and I have been craving it ever since.

So today, I got my husband to drive us there so I could finally get to try and I even rang the cafe to reserve two slices for me as I was going to get there near closing time. When I was ordering, I noticed one lonely pandan brûlée tart ($7) so I had to try that too.

We had it after dinner and while the matcha cheesecake is small and my husband complained that it's not worth $10 for the size, I thought the taste was great with a good level of matcha and the chocolate crumb base was perfect. My husband preferred their pandan brûlée tart which I also enjoyed and I would come back to get their desserts again!

Also the staff were super friendly too, I must come and try their food as well.

Located right across from Powerhouse Museum in Ultimo, this place specializes in Indonesian coffee as the owner really knows his coffee well and done his own roasting in house that helps in keeping their coffee always freshly served... :)

They also served beautiful food here and I have to admit, beautiful interior as well... More like an industrial design kinda look? :)

all I can say is いただきます.... itadakimasuuuuuuu..... saying grace for this beautiful food is definitely a must.... I mean look at that spread!

// KABUKI WAFFLE with Free Range fried chicken, Honey Yuzu Glaze, Savoury waffles, cabbage slaw, shicimi salt, and Wasabi Mayo dip.... 😍👍🏼🍗🍯 // EGGPLANT & MUSHROOM CAPONATA TARTINE with Burrata Cheese, pomodoro sauce, pumpkin crisp, Shimeji & Button Mushrooms, and Basil kalamata olive tapenade // MATCHA CHEESECAKE (this is sahhhhhh good! maybe one of the best we ever tried in Sydney) // wash it down with a great Indonesian COFFEE // ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ (5 stars!)

In-house roasted coffee is a unique blend from Indonesia where owner Benji hails from. When it comes to weekends be prepared to get there early to avoid disappointment missing out on a table and dishes. The pastrami sold out two hours before closing but I’d happily have something else from the menu as a plan B because they all sound delectable.

I’m currently slowly ticking off the many cafes from my ‘to try list’ (head over to have a look and let me know if I’m missing any worth-trying ones, I’d love to hear about it!). The Q on Harris is an Indonesian / modern Asian cuisine restaurant, located in Ultimo, very close to UTS and the Powerhouse Museum. They have been trending on social media for the past month, especially for their most famous Matcha cheesecake.

The Q on Harris has a great Japanese fusion menu boasting some impressive brunch and dessert options, so we headed over to Ultimo to give them a try! To eat, we had the Kinoko Tartine, which was a great combination of confit mushrooms, garlic, spinach, sage and parmesan on sourdough. We also tried the House Smoked Salmon Tartine, which had an interesting combination of dill, fennel, apple and cucumber complementing the lightly smoked salmon, which still retained lots of its original fatty flavour.

Conveniently located across from The Powerhouse Museum, this cute corner cafe offers indoor & outdoor seating in a cosy courtyard as well as on site coffee roasting. An all day menu showcases a variety of modern dishes with Asian, French & American influences. The Kabuki waffle is fried chicken & waffles with Korean accents. It came with glossy, caramelised chicken pieces which were sweet, juicy & tender. The waffles are made with a spicy batter & had a real kick. Bibimbap is another dish showcasing the Korean influence in a healthier way. Japanese features in the yuzu brulee tart which has beautiful acidity in the light custard that contrasts with the sweet buttery base & caramel praline top. Pandan brulee tart was fragrant, although sweeter then the yuzu but just as delectable. You cannot eat here without trying the Matcha cheesecake with Oreo base. It has a good matcha flavour without being overly sweet or bitter. The texture is silky yet dense & the Oreo base was the perfect vessle for carrying the creamy cake. Having their own rostery means a great coffee to be had and with friendly service also, this makes a perfect trendy yet relaxed meal.

The Kabuki waffles were the highlight of today's meal - great flavour combinations that went well with each other. I definitely recommend this dish if you plan on visiting. The chicken was crunchy and moist which went perfectly with the wasabi mayo. The smoked salmon and eggs were also nice if you were after something lighter. Don't forget to try their matcha cheesecake. You'll enjoy it if you're after an intensified matcha flavour.

A cute cafe located on Harris Street is serving up delicious meals with an Asian style twist. When we first walked into the cafe we got a very loft style set up, if feels as though you're dining in a new York city apartment with a few tables and chairs scattered all over optimising all the space. We were then led to the back of the cafe where they had more tables and chairs located outside in a cute terrace style garden setting.

We ordered our food and unfortunately it took almost an hour for our food to arrive. However once we did receive it, it was delicious. We got the scrambled eggs on japanese toast with bacon, avocado and feta. We also got the Kinoko Tartine which had several different types of mushrooms with japanese bread and the housebaked honey granola. They were both super delicious, the mushrooms were cooked perfectly and the housebaked granola was light and refreshing with the chia pudding.

Came here for lunch on a sunday and the place was packed. Had to wait for 45 minutes for a table, and another 45 minutes for the food. Was a stressful wait because we were so hungry.

Ordered the matcha cheesecake, bibimbap and scrambled egg with chicken and mushroom.

The match cheesecake was divine, love the texture and the taste. Was not too sweet, which is really good because cafes in sydney tend to make sweet cakes.

The bibimbap was good, except for the kimchi that was served hot which has a really weird taste.

The friend chicken was not like any usual friend chicken because it has some spice added to it, wasnt bad but it was unique.

Overall, love their fusion brunch concept! Hope kitchen productivity could improve in the near future.

Really adorable, slightly hipster decor. Friendly and accommodating waitstaff. The menu features an eclectic mix of items, including classic Asian dishes like bibimbab, chicken and waffles, and quintessential brunch items, featuring things on toast. My friend had the bibimbab, while I had the avocado on toast. The presentation of the avocado on toast was nicer than your average Sydney cafe, with the avocado sliced thinly and expertly on top of the bread. Between the avocado and the bread, there was miso, which added a lovely, unexpected flavour to the combination. All in all, delicious. There were also green shoots on the avocado, which I'd put aside. After I finished eating, the waiter said if I didn't like them, I could tell them next time and they'd change it for something else- this hospitality made a nice dining experience all the more appreciable.
We finished with the matcha cheesecake, which was rich, with a strong matcha flavour.

The room is a little crowded while the decoration is sweet. Staff friendly asked if we need shared plates and if we need the dessert with meal, but nothing was done after our confirmation.

Leave the matcha cheese cake together with coffees, as it is a little bit sweet. The smoked salmon is wonderful, and the waffle is a little bit spicy.

One of my new favourite cafe in Ultimo! They are famous for their matcha (New York style) cheesecake which is so delicious- smooth, not too heavy with a hint of lemon and Oreo base. But there is much more that I enjoy here, for example : their fried chicken on waffle, house smoke pastrami sandwiches and make sure you leave room for dessert! I recommend all the dishes I've uploaded.

The best dishes are the chicken and waffle and the b and e sandwich. The chicken and waffle is very spicy but pairs together nicely, make sure you ask for maple syrup! The egg is very fluffly and smooth in texture, very well done

The matcha cheesecake is to die for, creamy and the chocolate biscuit on the sides and bottom pairs superbly

Contemporary setting, cute little courtyard at the back, staff were extremely friendly, we ordered a bit of everything and it was Devine! Felt like a Japanese influence on western brunch, with each dish there was an option of Sourdough or Soft Japanese toast. Kabuki waffles and Salmon tartines stood out the most for us, the Kabuki Waffles had amazing chicken with waffles and wasabi mayo (was not chili/spicy, you can taste the wasabi but it didn't go up your nose) and the salmon was refreshing. We ended the meal with matcha cheese cake and it was TO DIE FOR (only if you love cheese and matcha). Would definitely come here again!

What’s worthy of note here is the flip on Chef Taiyo’s menu having taken the helm just 5 months ago. 4 of the 9 dishes offer an optional meat/seafood add-on. I’m not a vegetarian, but appreciate the dishes and find it refreshing. Today we focused on dishes with a slight hint of Japanese and Korean, but define it as Modern Australian.

YOU HEARD IT HERE FIRST: Next season’s menu will incorporate flavors from the Mediterranean. :O

Conveniently located across from the Powerhouse Museum and servicing the many media corporates and university professionals and students in close proximity, the menu is safe yet somehow daring enough!

KABUKI is Japanese theatre incorporating song, mime and dance and these guys have taken that drama into a Korean Chicken waffle combination that surpasses expectation. These waffles are not sweet but more in the Mochi gluttonous form allowing the Spicy Korean and sesame glaze to shine. The coating of the chicken is very South American with a herb flouring adding to the crunch.

KINOKO TARTINE, the french open sandwich that features an assortment of herb roasted Shimeji, Enoki, Button, Shitake, Oyster and Portobello Mushrooms with creme fruit, Confit Garlic, baby spinach and onion crisps on Sour dough. There’s a pungent broth that forms from the layered flavor of shrooms.

BIBIMPAP is the Korean mixed brown rice bowl of fried egg, shiitake, spinach, bean sprouts, seaweed, carrot, house made spicy sauce, pickled radish and bamboo.

The French BRULEE is revamped with the Japanese citrus fruit, Yuzu turning the old creme flavor into a pungent custard creme with hard caramel top.

And of course, you will have to find the ever popular MATCHA in the beautiful leafy toned cheesecake. The vegetal taste of matcha somehow works well with the cream cheese offering yet another surprise to your expectation.

Big thanks to Mana and her team (Mio & Etienne), Chef Taiyo (Marites & Dianne) for great service, excellent meals and overall memorable time!

Returned 2 weeks after my first visit and there's a new menu in place. The highlights are all present (salmon tartine, waffles, pastrami sandwich) but sadly, accompanied by a price increase for the same portions. Most by about one or two dollars, but the granola a steep three dollars. The kinako toast came with plenty of mushrooms but was a bit too oily for my liking. The granola was a fairly small serving but looked good. I'd still come back for the matcha cheesecake but would think twice about brunch given the higher prices.
---Previous visit---
Much has been snapped and said about this unassuming cafe opposite the Powerhouse Museum. The positive reviews are entirely justified. Must-orders - salmon tartine: tastes as gorgeous as it is plated, the salmon having an almost melt-in-the-mouth texture; kabuki waffles: great take on the classic with light crispy waffles and lime and herbed fried chicken; matcha cheesecake: strong matcha flavour in every bite, dense cream cheese filling and a chocolate biscuit (Oreo?) base to mix things up...the matcha dessert of my dreams. Very rich so best to share. The Q on Harris is a gem. Go visit.

The Q on Harris is a great cafe located in Sydney CBD. I loved the way the cafe was designed, it had a nice rustic look to it.

Service was just amazing, I was welcomed by a staff member when I entered the cafe and directed to the back section of the cafe. The waitress answered all of my questions and when I asked about the Pandan Curd she asked the chef to come over in order to explain the way he had made it. The chef gave me an amazing detailed explanation that sounded really scientific; the curd was made over two days!!
I could tell he was so passionate about his cooking which was nice to see. It was also great that he came around and explained it to me.

Service time was excellent, coffee and tea came in about 10 minutes; followed by two meals which took about 15minutes. I loved that I could add whatever I wanted to my plate. I had the scrambled eggs with avocado, halloumi, feta, mushrooms and sourdough bread.  This was cooked to perfection and presentation was great as well. Portions were very generous. The food was delicious and met expectations.

I also had the very famous matcha cake and a chocolate tart. The matcha cake was amazing! I loved that it had the chocolate layer around it which balanced the bitterness of the matcha. This was the very first time I  had tasted matcha and I am glad that I have tried it. The chocolate tart was very good as well and the popping candy in it was a wonderful surprise.
Dessert was presented very well and again the size of the piece of cake was very generous, I think one would be enough for two people especially because of the rich taste.

The cafe itself was presented well and I could see that some ingredients were made in house. The tables were a bit too close to each other. However, this is understandable due to the size of the cafe and it being in Sydney CBD. All in all a nice, rustic looking cafe. Great for all those insta pics as well ;)

Parking can be a bit difficult, I was lucky enough to find street parking 2 minutes away. There are plenty of side streets to park all require a parking ticket though.

Had a wonderful time, great service and food. Check Sydneyfoodfrenzy for my insta pic :)

First things first... the matcha cake is among one of the best and most authentic tasting matcha desserts you'll likely find in Sydney. Big claim, but once the flavour hits you I don't think there will be any complaints.

The Q itself is a quaint and neatly presented cafe with more seating than the space suggests, with both indoor and outdoor areas and the service is friendly, albeit sparse at times due to the area they're covering.

I had the Kabuki Waffles and Kinoko Tartine (with side of scrambled eggs). Whereas the tartine and egg were extremely tasty and flavourful, I found the waffles and fried chicken offering quite bland, particularly because you only get a side of mayo and lemon with the dish and it renders the whole thing a tad dry overall. Biting into the waffle solo tasted like... nothing? However the egg was a big winner with how fluffy it was.

All in all, the dessert was the winner but the whole experience was good too (and oh the tableware is a great addition!).

Convenient location near the powerhouse museum, ABC and multiple colleges.
This cafe has amazing decor inside and out, I love their front door on the corner! A few quirky characters to the cafe itself and staff are decent, always up for a conversation.

I've had an iced mocha which was extremely disappointing and plain (not a Vienna!), it was quite average though I believe their hot coffees are much better as my friends frequent here.
Sadly I'm not a big coffee person so when I had a hot mocha on soy it smelt a little unpleasant but wasn't bad. They have a loyalty rewards program only available on an app (not sure what sadly).
The choice of small foods/snacks are very limited and abit extreme E.g. matcha cake, Nutella muesli cake, though the ordinary ham and cheese croissant is luckily on the menu.

Their menu looks enticing with Japanese and korean influences, I would love to give that a go and think that would be their strength for me :)

My everyday routine for the last month has the speed and intensity cranked up high right now. I’ve doubled my fitness routine, am finally getting the hang of my new job, been reconnecting with new and old friends and am trying to put more consistent effort into studying Japanese. It’s currently not a very sustainable model as I end up crashing once every seven days, to the point where I have to consciously make a particular day a week ‘rest day’ as opposed to ‘day where I end up sleeping in because my body is very angry with me’.

The main reason we visited was to finally try the Double Matcha Cheesecake and boy did it live up to its hype! Creamy and light, with a hint of citrus – just perfect!

We arrived and were warmly welcomed by smiling staff and were swiftly seated. It was one of those horror 40 degree days, so thankfully, there were not too many brave souls battling the heat that day!

The café is cute and quirky. You instantly feel light when you walk through the door. Another thing you notice is all the coffee! These guys do a mean coffee – it’s a shame it’s not as highlighted as the Matcha Cheesecake!

The Q’s menu was descriptive and straight forward – nice & easy!

Here are some other dishes we tried:

Avocado & Kalamata Olive Tartine – You really have to like olives to like this dish! The toppings were delicious and my friend enjoyed the entire dish, because of her love for olives.

Kabuki Waffle – Chicken was absolutely faultless – right amount of spice and cooked perfectly! Waffles eventually got soft, maybe it’s because I took so long to take pics lol But could do with more syrup!

Kinoko Tartine – Mushroom Heaven! Rich in flavour – absolutely delicious – really enjoyed the garlic chips!

Yuzu Caramel Chocolate Tart - Chocolate lovers dream – keep an eye out for a little surprise ;)

Yuzu Swiss Meringue Pie – The most delicious meringue pie we have had! The textures are just next level! Have you ever had Fluff? It’s so much like it, but BETTER!

Chef Taiyo came over and introduced himself and went through the background of the meals we were having. His level of detail and attention really shined through on every plate of food. Can we just take a moment of silence to appreciate the fact that he pre-cuts the toast for the Tartine’s – I mean, what a legend!

He was so super friendly and was asking for our thoughts on flavours etc. So refreshing to see a chef come out and see his customers.

All in all, it’s a wonderful place with amazing coffee! Their food speaks for itself, but I feel like someone needs to shine the light on their amazing coffee!!!

Versatility is a double-edged sword– execute well, you are demonstrably multi-talented; execute poorly, you obviously bite off more than you can chew. At a first glance, the menu of The Q on Harris is ambitious to say the least: Southern American-style Fried chicken on waffles, Korean-style Vegie Bibimbap, Japanese-style Teriyaki Rice Bowl, and French-style Smoked Salmon Tartine. Is there any cuisine that Q won’t dare to attempt?

Lovely cafe serving great brunch food with a Japanese twist. Their matcha cheesecake is to die for - smooth, intense and goes perfectly with their buttery oreo biscuit base.

Today's brunch venue of choice was a place that's been on my list for a while, and after seeing so many grams of the famous matcha cheesecake, I was excited to check it out!

The Q on Harris sits on a nice little corner, and inside has an almost European feel as the sun streams in the windows. This place like to DIY, they smoke their own meats, roast their own coffee and make their own cold drip.

The menu has a cool Asian twist on brunch which is a refreshing change from the avo on toast norm! Instead they have a range of tartines, as well as classic faves like Bircher and bacon and egg sangas. But we opt for the more unique choices.

1. Kabuki waffle - fried chicken, honey lime dressing, cabbage slaw, wasabi mayo. I'm not usually a huge fan of chicken and waffles but as one of their signature dishes I had to try, and I'm glad I did. Omg the chicken!!! Cooked to perfection and the flavours just pop!!! Went down so well with the waffles and the freshness of the slaw.

2. Smoked pastrami sandwich - pickled cabbage and cucumber, dill, Swiss cheese, Dijon mustard on sourdough. We also added haloumi coz I'm obsessed! This one is a tasty towering monster. The thing I couldn't get over is the caramelisation on the bread where the cheese was dripping out. Omg I live for this, it just made the whole sandwich. The pastrami was smokey, and the cheese ratio so on point.

Dessert time! Yassss! As soon as you walk in you spy the glass cabinet lined with desserts and get immediately excited!

3. Matcha cheesecake - I'm going to make a confession, please don't hurt me. I'm not a matcha fan. I've tried so hard but my tastebuds refuse to keep up with the matcha trend. Luckily my dining companion is matcha crazy, and highly rated this insta famous dessert. Oreo cookie base, and the smoothest, greenest cheesy cake.

4. Chocolate caramel tart - now this is my jam people! Omg you could almost see your reflection in the chocolate glaze!!! The pastry was thin and delicious, the chocolate and caramel so smooth and rich, and inside there's a treat! Popping candy! I demolished the entire thing.

Overall a delicious brunch here this morning! The service is a little slow, so if you're in a rush save this one for another day perhaps. But if you've got time to enjoy a leisurely brunch (and dessert!) in the sun, then this is the spot for you! Thanks to the lovely staff for looking after us, can't wait to come back and try the other menu items! That mushroom tartine is calling!

Great little cafe with an asian/american twist. It has Japanese, Korean & American influences to the menu which make it fun & interesting compared to the usual cafes around this area. It wasn't too busy when we arrived and managed to get the bench with the coffee drip on the table.

The outdoors section although it looked nice was a tad bit too warm to be sitting out there comfortably due to the weather.

Ordered the Avocado & kalamata olive tartine, my partner enjoyed this dish. They also slice the sourdough so it is easier to cut without destroying the dish and making it look messy. I ordered the Kabuki waffle - chicken was nice and crisy although coated with the honey dressing. The waffle could have been cooked slightly more but it might have made it look more brown. It had a good amount of crunch as you cut it and bite into it.

A few tips - I was not aware it was a spicy waffle, it would be good to mention this on the menu (I couldn't eat too much of it as it was too spicy for me) & have a little pot of the honey lime dressing to put on the waffle. I don't think they served the wasabi mayo with the dish, it just looked and tasted like normal mayo (japanese style) - which I don't mind but would've been nice to try with the dish as advertised.

Ordered a cap & iced coffee, both were good.

We shared a double matcha cake after our meals, this cake is amazing and a must try if you love matcha (green tea). We unfortunately could not finish all of it as we were full but am glad we tried it out. I would definitely come back for this.

Service was a bit non existent at times but was able to flag down someone to bring our matcha cake and more waters after our meals.

It is a cute little cafe which isn't too busy and is relaxing, only thing I would say is the tables are a bit close to eachother so if you have people that talk loud next to you it can get a bit annoying.

Matcha ninja!!

The matcha cheese cake was my lure to this place but surprisingly the food here were good. Apparently they have a new chef and he is doing an amazing job!!

Top favourite is of course the matcha cheese cake, waffle and fried chicken and surprisingly the bibimbap which was vegetarian friendly and has good taste.

Well worth the visit and cant wait to see what else he can make, also the best thing is that they try to make everything in house. From smoking their meat which takes about 5 days to making their own cakes, 80% of the things in this cafe is hand made.

Until next time .... Keep eating!!!

Due to most of Sydney being booked out for the night I needed to be there, I ended up staying in Ultimo. Rather than facing the hotel breakfast I wandered down to this funky cafe that I saw the night before. Thank god I did. The staff greeted you warmly and upon taking my order, which I wanted to deviate from the menu she promptly checked with the cook. It was no trouble and the cook came out to ensure that he received the changes correctly.
Breakfast was delicious. The eggs were just how I asked, the bacon with maple syrup was crispy, sweet and salty and the mushrooms perfect.
Now to the coffee- divine. My piccolo latte was perfect (both of them) but I also had the pleasure of watching the barista training a new person. He went well beyond just showing her the machine. He was teaching her about balance, acidity, what difference the length of extraction has etc. if I am ever in the vicinity again, I will definitely be back!!

What a great coffee place! Scrolled my instagram, and accidentally found this eye catchy coffee shop. Happy that they're located near with my home, they use coffee beans from Indonesia, has both seating area indoor and outdoor. They also sell some cakes, the most popular one is their matcha cheesecake. I was enjoyed with their coffee, cakes, ambiance, and the service. Definitely will came back here!

Hidden away near the Powerhouse Museum is the unassuming The Q on Harris, a gem of a cafe that also roasts their own Indonesian coffee beans on site. Popular with UTS students since the university’s many city campuses are nearby, The Q on Harris is a modern cafe which serves up a range of classics as well as some more interesting Japanese fusion dishes.

Japanese inspired cafe with some amazing food . We tried the healthy Salmon TARTINE aka Open Sandwich which had some lovely house smoked salmon with toppings of fennel, cucumber, pine nuts & dill which was perfect with the extra tanginess of lime.
The kabuki waffles had perfectly done crispy fried chicken which was an absolute delight to have. We ended our meal with the Oreo matcha cheese cake which just melted in our mouth . In all it was a very pleasant experience & would definitely recommend this place.

Q on Harris prides itself on authentic Indonesian coffee and cafe food with a Japanese twist. Their food is generally more affordable than normal cafes in Sydney, and is suitable for uni kids too, where UTS is just right around the corner and USYD is nearby too. For dessert, their homemade matcha cheesecake was delicious, the perfect way to end our meal.

Groovy Asian fusion eatery The Q on Harris should be a priority on all Brunch to do lists.

The salmon tartine was exquisite. I am a die hard smoked salmon fan but this was really something special. Smoked in house and you can definitely taste the difference. Its light, fresh and melt in you mouth delicious. The delicate toppings work together perfectly and that dill cream is spectacular. This is a really moreish dish and, although appearing small on the plate, is definitely filling (but the good sort of filling, the brunch sort of filling).

The Japanese inspired take on fried chicken normally comes on top of the Kabuki waffle (the go to dish at Q, our waiter informed us) but served a fantastic accompaniment to eggs. The flavour combinations in the honey and lime coating are spot on – the perfect balance of salty, sweet and a little bit of a spicy kick.

It’s a lovely set up at the Harris Street location. Sit indoors or in the beautiful outdoor setting to enjoy the sunlight. Ample on street parking is a definite plus.

I had such an enjoyable experience at The Q on Harris. The courtyard is a lovely place to sit and enjoy the delicious food that's on offer. The chicken waffles were fried with maple syrup and served with a punchy wasabi mayo. We also tried the mochi muesli which is a great alternative to a classic bircher muesli. An absolute must is the matcha cheesecake. It's a classic style cheesecake topped with matcha cheesecake and Oreo base. It's indulgent and definitely to be shared but it is so creamy. Would go back any day for that cheesecake.

This cafe is located in Ultimo near the Power House Museum. As you walk in you are welcomed by the friendly staff. I love the ambience here. It feels very relaxing, airy and has different seating options inside and outside in the courtyard. This place roasts their own coffee beans sourced direct from local farmers in Indonesia. Another unique thing we were informed about from the staff, is the fact that they smoke premium meats in house. I will need to try these on my next visit. The highlight for me is the honest food they serve made with love and the unpretentious atmosphere. Coffee and food are great. #saksrecommends

The Weekend Foodie

We were kindly invited to the q on harris on the weekend. A friendly korean fusion cafe approximately 10 mins walking distance from Central station.

I had the veggie bowl (bibimbap) it was extremely filling and an array of vegetable topping. The rice i had in my veggie bowl was fresh and cooked well. Just fyi - the red sauce to be mixed into your veggie bowl is quite spicy. It was quite similar to the bibimbaps ive had previously. I think the price of the veggie bowl is slightly higher than what i would usually pay for my bibimbaps, from.memory it was close to 20$ but since we didnt pay for our meal its difficult for us to form an opinion. But you know what, we are on a budget so in all honesty, we probably would not pay more than $15 for a bibimbap. Nonetheless it was still a good vegetarian dish.

Sam had the salmon tartine, he said it was a fresssssh light meal. He loved every elements of it and recommende this for those who are looking for a light healthy lunch.

For drinks sam had juice and i had a chocolate milkshake and it was pretty big!!! Very very satisfying!!!

We couldnt leave without having their signature matcha cheesecake. This is the best matcha cheesecake i have had thus far, it has a layer of citrus ganach and an oreo base, definitely a highlight.

As for the rating, we were a bit conflicted, I wanted to give a 3.5 and sam wanted to give a 4.5... at the end of the day, food was decent, chef was very friendly and we had a good time.. so we shook hands and settled on a 4. Would we spend our own money here? Yes will be coming back for the matcha cheesecake.

While in Pyrmont I capitalized on proximity and went in to visit @theqonharris for lunch before the summer rains hit.

Classic Cheeseburger: house made beef patty, cheddar cheese, caramelized onion, tomato and lettuce. Plus i added crispy bacon and a fried egg 🍔

I can't believe theyre considering taking this OFF the menu 😲 great little cafe, and a choice between thick cut or crispy bacon! Why not both even lol. Thanks @clairemcpherson.CPM for the invite - great working with you ✌

An innovative cafe on Harris St across from the Powerhouse Museum. The cafè has a trendy interior with a indoor seating and a courtyard out the back. There is an onsite coffee roaster and grinder with the owner importing his own beans from Sulawesi and Java in Indonesia which make for very nice coffee. They were playing a relaxed music selection ideal for the brunch setting.

Breakfast is the most important meal of the day and upon entering The Q on Harris, we knew they felt this way too. The first thing we noticed was the coffee roaster that commands the room in this deceivingly large breakfast spot. It has a very relaxed and friendly vibe which made us feel comfortable and welcome as soon as we had stepped inside the door.

Benji Salim is hoping to bring Indonesian coffee into the limelight in Australia. At The Q on Harris, he roasts the green coffee beans he imported from Indonesia. The Q is also home to a cozy cafe serving an all-day menu. Benji imports single-origin green beans from various parts of Indonesia, working directly with the farmers to show off the coffee of each origin.

In house roasted coffee and an all day breakfast and lunch menu is what you will find at Q on Harris.

The inside is decorated with white and yellow subway tile which is bright and airy. Our suggestions though however is to sit outside which felt like a peaceful oasis.

The big breakfast is one of the best value meals we have found - $19 will you get eggs (your choice), maple bacon, tomato, mushrooms, avocado, spinach, toast and your choice of extra protein including pastrami, haloumi, chicken or salmon. If however, you are looking for something different then the korean style veggie bowl is the go on this menu. Packed with a fried egg, kimchi, pickled radish & bamboo, shiitake mushroom, spinach, carrot, bean sprouts and seaweed, you will not leave hungry. Topped with spicy sauce and rice this dish is filling and delicious.

The coffee here is something to come back for. It is an Indonesian roast which is creamy and something which you will not find in many places in Sydney. The staff here are friendly and the menu has plenty of options to keep you coming back. On the way out you can’t go past the baked goods - you can’t!!! We were treated to a brand new creation from the chef. A matcha New York style cheese cake with green tea gnache and Oreo base - wow!!! The atmosphere, food and staff will mean Q on Harris could easily become a regular chill spot

Always friendly and happy staff. Now roasting their own coffee and have batch brew and cold drip selections. Can get busy at 10:30am during class break times from the nearby academy.  The food while a bit pricey is always good, try the rueben sandwich if it's still on the menu.

All the gluten free items are individually wrapped super safe from the other pastries 😍 Wow the coffee, just wow. I scooped some of the crema off the top of my flat white to taste before drinking out and it was so good. The coffee is light, acidic, fruity. Clearly single origin and if it wasn't a milk coffee I'd have a better chance picking up specific flavour notes. Damn, actually did a double take I was so surprised but how good the crema was. Coffee to milk ratio is well balanced, temperature is great. It's a perfect coffee. As well as indoor seating there is a dining area outside that can be covered during poor weather. I found it nice in the sunshine. The barista I met on the day was really friendly and obviously made a great drink. The owner Benji is so passionate about coffee, and it's quite fun to see the roasting occurring on-site along with cupping (coffee tasting) sessions. The food menu looks really interesting though I haven't tried anything yet, being on a strict gluten free diet I'll need to have a further chat about my options.
