Review O Cafe - Surry Hills - Sydney

Yummy breakfast spot with clearly marked menus and lots of gluten-free and vegan options. Other menu items delicious as well including smashed avo and open chilli omelette. French toast pictured is gluten-free and vegan. Nice shady area to sit out front.

Caters to dietary requirements well, with friendly service in a neat comfy setting. Vegan sweet treat was a treat. However basic eggs, bacon on toast was a little underwhelming given its price. Enjoyable coffee and overall pleasant meal.

Lovely place with a big menu! There are both sests inside and outside. I ordered the french toast and, although it was presented beautifully, it was a bit dry (like eating old bread). I still enjoyed it! But next time I’ll try something else. The chai latte was very tasty. Price is pretty decent. There is also wifi :) Will definitely come back soon.

Nice organic cafe with healthy food and juice. Staff are very friendly. It’s a small cafe, but I enjoy a weekend lunch here.

We enjoy the array of gluten free, dairy free and vegan options for our varying dietary requirements. Delicious filtered coffee available.

I've been here a few times now and have loved every dish. The service is friendly and welcoming. For some reason it's not as packed as it's neighbours, so I've never struggled to get a table. My favourite dish was the fritters. I tried a beetroot latte for the first time. The drink itself was tasty, but it comes with rose petals on top, which do taste strongly like rose. Just a heads up.

Lovely brunch at O organics, great selection on the menu. Almost too much to choose from. The best smoothies I've ever had (the muscle is delicious). Rice dish full of flavour. Was a little disappointed with the lack of flavour in the porridge I had.

I really enjoyed my breakfast here. The three grain porridge is amazing, with more fruit and nuts than you could poke a spoon at. the agave syrup added a touch of natural sweetness. The smoothies looked great and my companion's fruit salad had a lot of variety. Everything looked fresh, the service was great and they also sell a lot of the products they use to cook with.

Tried a takeaway cappuccino today. Coffee was well made but the taste was weak and not as full bodied as I like. Didn't give me the kick up the rear that I need in the morning. Ditched it and started again at a nearby cafe. Organic coffee beans are clearly not for me.
Service is friendly though and the cabinet was chock full of gluten free lunches so points for that.

Just out curiosity about the taste of organic coffee, I decided to tried this cafe.
Honestly I don’t mind at all about the flavour, even I would say coffee has this strong caffeine kick, medium body and smooth finished.
organic coffee is well known full of beautiful antioxidants that actually prevent cancer and inflammation in your body. It’s also a great stress reliever, so I guess my cup of Piccolo also have lots of health benefits.

Delicious Healthy pancake. Staff are friendly and quick service. Food quality are great, and the food selection has many. Ambience was okay for me.

Amazing food and great service! Ordered the zucchini and corn fritters and Turkish shakshouka. The fritters were cooked well and not too heavy. The Turkish shakshouka was full of flavours. Both dishes perfect for winter.
Portion sizes were good too.
Definitely coming back here again!

Prompt service, friendly staff & food came quickly even though it was peak hour. Don't know why there was a line outside four ate five when this great cafe is right next door. I had a soy latte & the epic acai bowl. Coffee was good (texture is off bcos of the soy). Acai bowl was a good size, it filled me up. They mixed watermelon juice with the acai blend, tasted delicious and fresh.

I ordered the Tofu Scramble with Rye Sourdough. The Tofu scramble was nice and fluffy and the Asian flavours reminded me of a hearty home cooked meal. This is organic and simple food done well and I'll be back for more!

OK, this place is AMAZING! Somewhat went in with low expectations because I thought it was just going to healthy and sacrifice taste, but noooooo IT WAS SO GOOD. We ordered the vegan french toast, smashed avo, and ali's balinese fried rice without the egg to veganise it. I have to say the fried rice is really a step above any other I have had. The chilli paste it came with was the key to this delicious dish (well it was rock solid without the paste but that's what tipped it over to super stardom). And THAT fried rice taste from the wok that you cannot escape!! Despite being the first meal of the day I could have wolfed another bowl down like nothing. Highly recommend this.

I'll be honest, the smashed avo was pretty standard, but you kinda can't go wrong with avocado toast so it was a good tummy filler. Two dishes for two people? Nahhh never! Vegan french toast. Get it. Now. Please. You can ABSOLUTELY eat anything vegan these days, and O Organic make sure you don't have to miss out on one of the breakfast regulars. And they make sure you will keep ordering it vegan, because it is so delicous, soooo much better for you, and did I mention it was ridiculously tasty!?

Highly rate this place and I will not be a snob towards healthy cafes any more! 😝

Food was good overall, came here after I heard that the Balinese chef makes mean fried rice! I got my Indonesian food fix for the day and ordered the Nasi goreng Bali (Balinese fried rice) fresh from the wok, amazing! (You can choose to add the meat for 4$ since the default one is vegetarian) and asian chicken soup (a take from Indonesian soto ayam) which was delish and refreshing. Price was abit expensive given the portions but it is probably due to the organic produces that they use

Great food, awesome service and very well priced! Would def come here again. Great for a post workout feed. Kitchen was too happy to accommodate my adjustments to the menu to suit my dietary requirements.

This place may not be cutting decor but the food is great and the juices awesome. Ignore the trendier neighbours and come here. Lots
Of choice and no it isn't vegetarian!

This is the place to go if you are looking for healthy AND yummy food! Good coffee and tea as well. Very cozy environment with friendly stuff. Loved it!

We came here on a rainy Thursday afternoon and luckily for us there were quite a few free tables. The waiter provided us with water and menus as soon as we sat down and was very accommodating throughout our whole dining experience. We ordered the Lamb Kofta ($17.5) and the Stir Fry Vegetables ($15.5 - which came with brown rice and tofu however you can choose to add chicken). The Lamb Kofta had a great mixture of flavours and the addition of coriander and cucumber was refreshing. The lamb was nice and succulent and complemented nicely with the sauce.
The stir fry vegetables was full of flavour and all the vegetables worked well together. The sauce brought everything on plate together and we really enjoyed it. As well as this, their serving portions were quite generous!
Along with our meals we ordered two brownies ($4.5 each - Belgium brownie and Raw brownie). The Belgium brownie was gluten free and quite rich, but was extremely tasty. The Raw brownie was also quite rich, however delicious nonetheless - surprisingly as well it was sugar free and vegan. We definitely recommend that you try them out.
Overall, our experience at O Organic was very pleasant and we'll definitely be coming back soon to try more of their delicious menu.

Came here for coffee.
There were so many healthy food and must to come back for brekkie next time.
It was lunch time weekday but was not really busying.
I had Organic Brown Rice and Tofu ball which was included Garlic,Tofu, Zucchini, Mint, Chinamon,Sesame seeds etc
Tasty and healthy:)
It's good place to chil, I like the ambience.

Trying to visit the cafe on a weekend can end up in waiting in a queue. However coming in on a weekday, like we did for this visit, can also result in potentially waiting for a table or certain meals no longer being available for the day. But that's what you get when you've got a great cate, with friendly service, yummy food and coffee!
I had the tofu scramble on this visit, I wasn't sure what I wanted and the waitress recommended the dish - thought I'd try something different.
I'm so glad I did, the tofu scramble was amazing! Like holy shit the flavours were amazing (Asian style spices and the aroma was incredible), and you really cannot taste any tofu. Sometimes trying something you normally wouldn't order pays off!
The coffee here is always delicious, and I'm definitely going back for more tofu scramble.

In the past I've had their corn fritters, which honestly were not that great. Also really want to try their baked eggs, which had sold out that day. Mr Zonks

Run by Balinese, O Organic cafe offers not only healthy dishes but also they ensure yumminess and freshness in every elements of the dish! Went here on a Sunday with my foodie troops and as there were 7 of us, its pretty hard to find a table since the place itself is not too spacey. The cafe is located next to fouratefive and my sister is the one who recommended it to me and specifically mentioning the green chilli brown fried rice to order :)

My super favorite cafe! Food is really really really delicious! Ali's fried rice is my favorite 😍 super flavorful! The best Nasi Goreng I could find in Sydney with a healthier version too ;) good chilli paste!!! :P can't miss that bit! Great salad! Great smoothie.. Friendly staff + chef.. I can never get enough of this place! ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

Coffee was great ( I live in Melbourne and I loved it!) Food was so delicious. Friendly service too. I wish this cafe was in vic. I will come back!

Maybe I was lucky but I found the staff great, friendly and explained the food and its ingredients very willingly with a smile on their faces. It was good wholesome, filling, healthy food. Will definitely be back.

Such a shame. I've like this place for a while but coffee was really average and the food not tasty at all just spicy hot... I thought after the refurbishment they would have done a bit of work to the place to make it more comfortable but it's dark... Staff was nice though. Shame the quality is going down

written by glutenfreehunter 487 Crown St Sydney For those of you who have stood in line for breakfast or lunch on Crown St (particularly Four Ate Five)..look no further than Organic Produce . Organic Produce will serve up a (sweet or savoury) hangover cure, a jam-packed salad to go, a superfood smoothie, an afternoon treat, that perfect chai latte and more. All of the above they can do gluten free. Organic Produce is my go-to for brunch and the occasional banana overdose (not a bad thing) via a combination of their banana smoothie with thick shake consistency, the best gluten free banana bread and their buckwheat pancakes. Below I have listed some of their gluten free menu items – I’ve worked my way through all of these. Breakfast (All day long) Fruit Salad with stewed rhubarb & Bio-dynamic yoghurt Toasted banana bread with seasonal jam – DO IT Brookfarm gluten free muesli served with stewed rhubarb, Bio-dynamic yogurt & roast almonds Buckwheat pancakes with banana and date butter and served with agave blueberry syrup. Lunch Soups! (Spanish lentil, Moroccan spiced lamb & lentil, asian style chicken soup and some rotating specials) Stir fried seasonal vegetables with tofu, garlic, chilli, tamari, sesame & biodynamic brown rice (& chicken) Jin’s Thai Spiced Chicken Salad with green apple, cucumber, tomato, lettuce, mint, coriander & spiced tamarind dressing & other rotating specials. Treats Coconut & Date Rolls, Gluten Free Banana Bread (a favourite), Peppermint Almond Fudge, Mini Jaffa Cakes, Sticky Date Cupcakes and Gluten free brownies. So stop people watching in a queue and get a table at Organic Produce. Related

Left in tears. Despite the delicious food here I will never return. I had been once before and was treated so poorly by the tall guy who is on the till most of the time. My friend loves healthy food and really wanted to try it so I reluctantly returned hoping to be treated like an actual human being this time. Instead I left in tears. I have never been spoken to in such a rude manner in my whole life (and yes it was the tall Brit on the till again). If you're thick skinned then maybe this is the place for you but if you want a nice Sunday bruch with out a side of being treated like a piece of crap stuck to someone's shoe then I suggest you try somewhere else.

Burnt lamb & staff sheeping around. It was one of our teams birthdays at work and she loves organic healthy food, so we'd heard great things and popped along here.

The good:
In short - a customer moved for us so we could have their bigger table which was very kind of them. The salads generally looked nice and the pre-made frittata. That was about the only good bit!

The bad and ugly:
We had to get our own water cups
We had to get their attention to order food after waiting a while
One meal was brought out 15 minutes ahead of the other 4
We waited a total of 25 minutes for our food
The lamb burger special was burnt so badly that we had to remove the bun - which was also burnt to a crisp
Sweet potato chips were potentially undercooked - asked for a side sauce, the waitress and chef argued back 'there's sauce in the burger' - yep thanks that's great, but I can't eat half the burger, i'd like some dipping sauce for the sweet potato chips... 10 minutes later they brought chipotle reluctantly.
The specials didn't have prices on so we had quite a shock when the bill came.
We were then told we had to wait until there was no queue at the start of the cafe before we can pay (we're on a work lunch break!!)
10 minutes later who must of been the manager heard how miffed we were and came to the rescue, sorted our bills in 60 seconds and started taking control of the staff and front area.
They may of been busy but they either need more staff or that manager to be there making sure the show runs smoothly if he doesn't have staff capable of running it without him.

Summary:
Not worth the money, poor service, questionnable chef.

Unimpressed. Service and lack of organisation really let this place down despite decent food.

We asked for a table for 2 and were told we would be seated next but people just walked in and seated themselves. After about 15 minutes and numerous people walking in and sitting down before us we finally decided to find our own seats. I'm not complaining about the self seating but someone could of just told us that instead of keeping us waiting.

After the meal they got our bill wrong 3 times despite repeating 3 times what we had actually ordered.

They added to our bill 2 extra coffes and also double counted tut coffees we had ordered making the bill $15 more expensive then it should be.

In the last attempt to correct the bill they still didn't remove a charge for rice milk which we never requested and i had already paid for it as the waiter didn't bother to show me the corrected bill. I didn't bother mentioning it again and just walked out vowing to never return.

Situated near the indulgent Spuds Cafe and simple Four Ate Five lies the healthy-as-anything O Organic Produce. Here you will find yoga-wearing 20-somethings sipping on a green juice or people who are trying to kid themselves into eating something good. I fit into the latter description. Some days when you’re just after something light and fresh, but flavoursome, there’s little that fits all. Or there’s very little to pick from. The menu here is extensive. From breakfast options to lunch to smoothies (mine had silken tofu in it!), there’s plenty to choose from. In the end I opted for a simple acai bowl that although may sound simple enough, was super filling and, I’m pretty sure, nutritious. After finishing this and the green smoothie I convinced myself that I was pretty much Miranda Kerr. This entry was posted in Fitness , Food , Lifestyle . Bookmark the permalink . Post

The menu is very varied and includes items like Moroccan spiced lamb & veg stew, tofu scramble, egg & bacon roll, vegan french toast and superfood smoothies.

I wanted breakfast, it was my first meal of the day and was absolutely ravenous. I opted for the organic baked beans on toasted sour dough with a fried egg ($11). Weird that I have been craving a bit of baked beans lately. The baked beans were delicious, moist and not sickly rich. It was incredibly filling and the fried egg was a great complement.

Love this place, friendly, quick service. Must go!

Tofu scramble will blow your mind. After a few (VERY) disappointing dining experiences in Surry Hills, this place has instilled faith in me once more and gives Surry Hills credit for what is supposed to be good at. The service is fast and friendly and waiters are willing to help and recommend meal options for you. I have to say though, it's worth coming here just for the tofu scramble, and before you cringe, this meal is better than any scrambled eggs I have ever had at a cafe. I definitely recommend this place if you're looking for a quick, satisfying and well priced eat in the area.

Best Green Juice EVER!!!. Grab a coffee, juice and salad lunch a few times on my way to work and I must say the Liverlicious Green Juice is nicest green juices I have tasted so far (yes, I have tasted a lot of green juices!). It is hands down delicious & refreshing without the overly bitter taste that you often get with some green juices. Also the flavour is consistent too so you always get what you want & expect. Other places when you order the same thing, they either put too much or too little of an ingredient and each time it taste different. It is not the case here. The Liverlicious is an OUTSTANDING green juice!!! As for the coffee, if you are after that bitterness in some coffees, this is not your place. The coffee is very smooth and does not have the bitterness at all. Salad options are also nice. Although tends to be heavy on the quinoa and cous cous type salads. Would like to properly try their sit down menu next time. However, if you are after something quick, healthy & refreshing, this is the place to go.

Great healthy snacks & take away lunches in front fridge. Try the bruschetta with a take away coffee.

Tasty, good looking food. Went here on a rainy morning after bypassing the massive queues in front of Four Ate Five and Mad Spuds. Didn't disappoint! The food looks fresh and colourful, and the portion sizes are great. More importantly the food is tasty. I will definitely go again (although I'd have to make a decision between this one and Mad Spuds depending on the food mood I'm in!)

Yeah baby yea,. I've always had a love affair with cafe O... I've been going there for years now. The owner is passionate about good food, and it shows. You can't help feeling very healthy and clean and green when u leave this place... It's a cool hip and fab place to hang out, sans the I'm a raw foodie, cool dude attitude!! LOVE
The Sneaky Pigeon
The big O. O-yeah, baby. This place has quickly become a favourite of mine. This is the kind of food that makes me happy. Their rainbow salad selection is the bomb and best of all, it’s all ready for me to take-away at 8:00am on my walk to work. The cooked brunches are also the shiz; full with veggies, legumes and general orgasmic-organic-goodness. I often find myself food browsing, wanting to buy something ‘for later’, like one of their spelt muffins or a packet of coconut flour to bake with. Raw 'confections' always seduce me, too. 5 stars for The Big O.
World Traveller
Excellent. This place serves great food, mostly organic. They have many options for vegans, vegetarians and some for even celiacs. Their veggie rice paper rolls are incredibly tasty, juicy and nutritious (obviously). In fact, the rolls are almost as good as Miss Chu's. The rice paper rolls run out very soon, so get there early, otherwise you'll have to have the Chicken Rice paper rolls, also good, but not as great.

For breakfast, I prefer the Turkish Eggs or the porridge. Once for lunch I had the fried rice, which their Indonesian Chef, Ali, made a little spicy for me. Very flavourful and not greasy.

Now for some criticism. I think the cafe prices are a tiny bit high, but that's OK with me. After all, which decent place is cheap nowadays?

But their hike-up on retail goods is exorbitant. I discovered some GREAT cereal here from Brookfarm, but then I found the same product at my local store for 40% less. So they've lost that part of my business and I rarely even glance at their retail range anymore.
Cosmo
Have been here many times to eat in and take away and food is always yum. Service can be slow but the fresh healthy food keeps me going back

I live in surry hills and these guys make the best breakfast in town! Ali is a wonder chef, delicious spices and flavours even when it comes to simple things like eggs. This is no1 for my Saturday morning brekky!

Simply Faultless. I have no idea why Organic Produce has not made the top 20 on urbanspoon. The food is fantastic. Your left feeling full, but not heavy. From the coffee to the freshly made juices, from the bacon to the eggs, the cafe, the food, and the staff is/are marvelous. My new favorite and preferred breakfast cafe in Surry Hills!

Great little place. Staff is nice. Food is fresh and very good. Service is a little long though. Worth checking out!
InnerCityFoodie
Great place! Good coffee. We had the Turkish sytle baked eggs. Delicious! Nice to have something different. It was a good size meal too. I highly recommend ordering this. Acai berry smoothie was to die for. The cafe prices weren't expensive considering it was all organic. The service was good too. Thumbs up all round - I will be back! And a note to the other review, it says $2 surcharge for Sunday's on the menu.
LuckyLaki
Super-friendly staff and a bacon and egg roll that will quiet the harshest of hangovers.
Simon
Dishonest surcharge. Liked the food and atmosphere, but they hit us with a $2 per head Sunday Surcharge. They didn't notify us of the surcharge before ordering so it was a surprise when we received the bill.
