Review Badde Manors - Sydney

Priya Shukla
Visited on a Sunday afternoon and the place was a little busy but it wasn't hard to get a table. Was delighted to see an extensive all vegan/vegetarian menu! We ordered Nasi Goreng, the lentil burger and a fritter stack. Also, the bad manors chai is a classic and must try! We enjoyed the meal - no complaints, albeit the spacing between tables can be tight and the place can get stuffy during summers. All being said, I can't wait to try their other meals :) P.S. - Bonus points for punny name!

My favourite cafe of all time! My mum used to take me here as a kid and 20 years later, it's still the spot! Hands down the best brewed chai in Sydney, no contest. Delicious vegetarian menu, heaps of variety, everything super yummo. Can't wait for you guys to open back up again! Xxx

It's been a while since I've been to a pun named establishment, fortunately it wasn't as corny as the name. Something about it reminds me of an American diner. The odd 3 seated tables, quirky kirtsch and little things like funny signs. Admittedly I took a punt on the lentil burger, not normally my burger of choice but it's nice to not eat a fake beef patty. It was delicious, the bun was wholemeal and soft, the mayo and pickles made it complete. The beetroot I could've left behind. The wedges I got were also perfectly cooked. My lunch partner got a vegan big breakfast. Usually my sort of meal but I'm glad I didn't. Didn't do it for me. This would've taken a dark tone if I had it. Too plain. Proportions all wrong....ok I'll stop. I'll be back. There's more to their vegan menu to explore.

The place is really bussy on weekends but you can find a table. The pancakes were good but i dont like the idea to add straight away the honey not everyone likes so sweet them. How the place is bussy we had to wait for our cutlery and they gave us them hot, I understand that we have to wait but it would be really good if you give an advertency. And the water drink place it isnt no the cleanest place.

I met up with friends at Badde Manors in Glebe. It isn’t the most ideal place for dinner; it’s more suited for breakfast or lunch. The tables and chairs are really uncomfortable and tightly packed together. The menu is vegetarian which was great and the food is ok. I had a falafel plate with hummus and pitta bread.

Badde Manors is an longstanding institution in Glebe. I’ve been there countless times and I will go countless more. You don’t love it because it’s perfect. The bathrooms are never clean. The staff is rarely friendly and seems to change every second week. I once spotted a cockroach crawling across my table. It’s fine. You don’t expect it to be anything it isn’t. You love it despite all these things. The vegan brownie is to die for. The brewed chai is one of the best in Sydney. The portions are big and the food is consistently good. The menu is creative and exciting, featuring a mixture of comfort foods and healthy dishes. The environment is at once cozy and artsy. They have WiFi so you can spend your afternoon there working while sipping tea and eating a vegan pastry. As far as vegetarian restaurants go, it’s an absolute staple. Don’t expect a fine dining experience. It has character, including some rough edges. Take a shot at anything on the menu except the bagel. For the love of all that is holy, please don’t order the bagel.

We ordered Shakshuka and Stuffed Crumbed Mushrooms. Stuffed Crumbed Mushrooms was so delicious, it was not too strong nor too mild. The portion was big and filling for two people. I have recommended few friends to Badde Manors and they loved it too.

Two things. One, the food smelled so good that I forgot to take a photo before I started. Take my word for it - it was great. Two, I didn’t realise it was a vegetarian menu until someone pointed it out after I’d ordered. Great offering, great atmosphere, great value.

A legendary Glebe bohemian cafe, still open fairly late and now with a vegetarian menu. At least they had none of that horrid imitation meat but I still wasn't too impressed by the food. The mushroom and quinoa burger had a very thin and sloppy patty (evidently not much quinoa in it) - still an ok burger overall, with a lot more flavour than imitation meat burgers, but maybe not worth the price. The eggplant schnitzel might have been old, judging from the soft and soggy but also tough and stretchy batter, but the great potato and pumpkin mash somewhat redeemed it, although not enough to justify the price. The meals weren't that bad but they're certainly not setting the standard for vegetarian cafes.

A cosy little corner cafe that has become a bit of an institution. Its always busy from morning till late, serving a variety of customers from students, trendsetters, couples & mums with prams. There is a good menu with a big variety to choose from including numerous vegan and vegetarian dishes. I had enjoyed the vegetarian breakfast here previously with falafel & halloumi & it was generous and tasty. The coffee was also nice & strong and the chai was brewed well with good amount of tea leaves used. On the most recent occasion I decided to have cake from the big selection in the display & chose a lemon & lime cheesecake & a carrot cake. Both cakes sat uncut in the fridge & I thought I would be getting a fresh slice. Alas when I dug my fork into the carrot cake it crumbled everywhere & was obvious it was very dry. After a couple of bites, I had thought it's because it's just a less than ordinary cake but I glanced in the counter and the whole carrot cake where I thought I would be getting a slice from remained uncut. Same with the cheesecake. So I guess you don't really know what & where your cake is coming from unfortunately.

Creamy, rich and filling risotto. Quite a small, cosy space close to Broadway Shopping Centre. Nice atmosphere and nice café for a quick stop.

If you'd like to read more of my reviews, please check out my Zomato page and visit @cynthiaeats_ on Instagram for more photos!

Came here for a friends birthday brunch and all of us left very full and satisfied! The food has a home cooked feel so is no frills but definitely not lacking in flavor. I had the vegan breakfast but asked to swap out the scrambled tofu for poached eggs, the portion size was very generous and all element were super tasty. Staff were friendly and service was pretty fast

Had an absolutely lovely time here. The bean nachos (GF) were so delicious and my friend had the Turkish pide with chips. The nachos were so fresh and tasty, and the combination of guacamole, tomato, sour cream and cheese was perfectly balanced. The chips were very tasty too and for dessert we shared the gluten free coffee and walnut cake - this was absolutely delicious too! Very tasty and a nice finish to the meal. Lovely staff and cafe aesthetic!
Hangrylittlelisa
Generous servings of hearty vegetarian food! Very friendly and at times overattentive service. Had the tofu rissoles in tomato stew, classic nachos and halloumi sandwich. Love how this place just proves that vegetarian/vegan food can be tasty!

Love a good vegetarian cafe. Extensive menu (I had difficulty deciding!) and tasty food. It took a while to grab their attention to order but too be fair we were in the sort of second room away from the main area. I really recommend this cafe over others if you are wondering through Glebe - but definitely avoid busy times. They are open for long hours so go sometime between lunch and dinner for a nice experience.

Great restraint with excellent vegetarian food. I tried the Eggplant Stroganoff which came in a pink sauce. Serving was plenty! Also tried the vegan brownie. Delicious- super gooey and not overwhelming sweet.
My friends got an arrangement of dishes all of which they enjoyed.
Although it does get busy and can be crowded. Before arriving I tried to get a booking but with no answer to my calls.
Service was friendly and efficient; will be returning!

Checked out Badde Manors for brunch as they have a high rating on Zomato. We had the Mediterranean breakfast and a Spinach & cheese pastry. Thought the food was average. They had some different offering for drinks such as the Sahleb, a Turkish milk with cinnamon, honey and rose water. The Chai is quite nice though you have to stir it up as most of the flavors settled down the bottom. Only found this out towards the end of the drink

I’ve always walked past here whenever I’m down in Glebe over the weekend, and it’s always packed to the max with people. Little did I know that this is actually a vegan/vegetarian cafe.

Stopped by for an early dinner and grabbed the two pasta dishes they had on special. All I can say is wow. The fettuccine was cooked perfectly al dente, with the tomato sauce rich and flavourful. The gnocchi was the clear winner for us both. Pillowy, ridiculously creamy, and packed full of pesto.

I’ll definitely be back for more.

All Vegetarian friendly restaurant with wide choices.

Berry Yogurt lassis are natural and fresh. Lassi simply means yogurt blended with water and fruits.

Eggplants 🍆 & ricotta 🧀 schnitzels
Colourful and plentiful! Seems Guorium🧪 quite enjoyed the food and mentioned this dish reminded him of the childhood. He highly recommended this dish!

Fitter stacks
I might not so believe in the fried flour stacks and Moroccan tomato 🍅 sauce. (Tomato sauce taste is quite dominated and others are then tasteless.)
Guorium🧪
Vegetarian restaurant! Price is not cheap but portion is huge! Staff is very helpful! The place is busy and interior is very cozy. Quite liked their ricotta filled eggplant schnitzel as it tasted like a chinese dish I had when I was little. Berry lassi wasn’t sweetened too much and tiramisu was very delicious (bit too sweet). Would definitely visit again! I would give 6 stars if I could. Special thanks to Xihuahua 🐶 for suggesting this place!

Revisited here with my parents, very lovely as usual. Their tiramisu was better on that day. I think was was fresher. Risotto was a bit too cheesy for me. Chickpeas would be better if they are mushy.

My family went there this morning and sat inside, my sons started arguing and my little boy started a tantrum. My family then moved to an outside table to not disturb the other customers inside. A staff member then came out and demanded we pay the bill. I advised her I am a regular customer and was not going to run away without paying, and that I would come in to pay at the end. She then continued to argue rudely and left. I then went in with my cups of coffee and asked a male staff behind the counter to put them in take aways. He took 1 cup and put on in a takeaway without any acknowledgement. Then a second male staff appeared behind the counter and stared at me. I asked him to put the coffee in a take away and he replied “I heard you the first time”. I then gave him a note to pay the bill and was surprised with the amount I was quoted. So my exact words were - “that’s for 2 coffees, a hot choc and a smoothie right?” The only response I got was a glare! I then asked “what’s with the service today?” And the response I got was appalling!! He shouted at me for questioning the bill! He said I had no right questioning the bill! He then went on to rudely read out the items in the bill.

I have been a regular customer here for 10yrs and the service has always been hit and miss, the food and coffee always good. But after today’s experience we will never to back there, and will tell this story to anyone who will listen. It was a very sad experience for me and family, as the staff were totally inconsiderate and rude.
I reckon I could say this is the most gorgeous cafe I’ve been to! Badde Manors has a welcoming, cosy and living-room-like atmosphere where it’s so easy to sit for a few hours and chat over a delicious Sahleb or two. In the early morning, the place is lovely - a quiet, calm stopover before a busy day - and at lunchtime the cafe is pumping! Such great food (enormous servings for very decent prices - try the Mediterranean Big Breakfast!) and wonderful, friendly staff too: I say 243/10

Just went to try something for lunch and gave it a try. Great ambient. And the food was so great. The staff are very friendly too. Will be coming back to try more

This is - maybe - visit number four to Badde Manors. I'm starting the day with a soy cap and Vegan Big Breakfast here. Since my day actually started off in Gosford, I figure the cappuccino has earned mug status. And shortly after ordering, voilà!

We were over in Glebe on the weekend and had brunch at Badde Manors. The place was bustling with customers whilst the other cafes around seemed sparce. We had the full vegetarian breakfast which was very satisfying and finished with lovely cream cheese cake and their famous chai. Overall, this place doesn't disappoint and you can see why it's still remains one of Glebe's favourite cafe.

This place has a really chill atmosphere, great for a catch up session over some warm comforting food 🍝🥪🥘
Portion sizes are very substantial for the price (usually below $20). They have many dessert options 🍨🍰🍮🍫 but I was so full I couldn’t eat any haha 🤤😂
Also it’s vegetarian with some vegan 🌱🍠🥕🥑 options so it’s good for vegetarians and vegans who are looking for a large variety of options instead of only a few in other restaurants.

Amazing food and customer service. We had a wonderful meal. Full of flavour and served with a smile. I couldn’t recommend it more. Beautiful.

Badde Manors is your cute little cafe down the road with a variety of vegetarian and vegan options. The food here is aesthetically pleasing and I love the ambience. They have a great indoor and outdoor seating area while being on the corner of a street. The VEGAN BREAKFAST was amazing and could be easily eaten by one. The AVOCADO TOAST is huge and really tasty! This place is the perfect brunch date.
- A place for vegetarians (A variety of vegan dishes to choose from). Ingredients are fresh.
- Service is average.
- As there is outdoor seating, you can bring your dogs there 🐶

I highly recommend this restaurant , I went with my sister and and a friend and us three girls had a fantastic time , the food was amazing and large serves wich was great because we did a bit of sharing our favorite was the stuffed mushrooms with mashed potato and pumpkin with steamed veggies and garlic toast , I had the eggplant schnitzel wich was incredible especially the sauce , and my sister had the nachos, delicious , everything is like homemade and there were lots of delicious desserts , the only problem I had was there was only one vegan desert that I could eat and I hope to see more choices next time I go .

I really like Badde Manors, it's been an iconic cafe in Glebe for years. The best thing about eating here is the variety and quality of the menu.

By far one of my all time fave places to eat out, for brekky, lunch and dinner. A personal favourite from the menu is the pumpkin risotto. I think about that risotto at least once a day. My life hasn’t been the same since trying it. Not to mention great coffee!
Anna
OMG the tofu and pine nut rissole bake was SO AMAZING. This alone deserves a return visit. It was so hearty and delicious, and just ridiculously generous. How do they make it so good!?! Highly highly recommend this dish. Also ordered the tofu burger and a salad. The burger was also TASTY but I have had many tasty vegan burgers before so I would definitely go back for the rissole bake because no where else has offered such a magnificent dish in so many ways!! The coffee was also nice.

I really enjoy their ricotta cheese cake. The service is good and you can park at the shopping center and cut through to the cafe. Their chai lattes are so amazing

Came here for brunch today. It was busy. Was told by the waiter to wait outside for "about ten to fifteen minutes" to get a table. Asked if he wanted our name, was told "not necessary".

Whilst we were waiting outside, another waiter cleared a table in front of the entrance and two girls (customers) walked in and was told to sit at that table.

We approached the waiter and asked how was it that they could get a table before us. His response was that we were to keep a look out for empty tables and come grab one early, before anyone else - which begs the question of what kind of unique approach to table service is this. Does that mean waiting customers have to scatter themselves around the restaurant so that they can grab a table when one frees up? Not once did he apologise.

Not impressed, he asked if we wanted to talk to the manager. We said yes. At this juncture, another table just became empty and we sat down.

Manager arrived with the waitstaff, told off the waiter in front of all of us and said " it's his fault". We intervened to say it is not his fault but actually the issue is the lack of proper systems or instructions in place within the organisation. He kept saying it's his fault and demanded the waiter apologise. He did and left.

It was clearly awkward for all of us at this stage. The manager kept asking "what else does he want us to do?" repetitively. We told him perhaps start implementing a system for waiting customers. He was crossed and told us to "Get Out!" after taking away our menus and left.

Another waitstaff ( a girl) came to us, in an attempt to make us wake up and leave. Apologised with pristine sarcasm ( "we are really sorry you didn't have a pleasant experience today, we are really busy.")

In a nutshell, we understand that the restaurant is busy and no one likes waiting tables on a busy day ( been there, done that) but it is expected that management and staff deal with such pressure professionally, at all times. This wasn't the case during our visit.

No matter how impeccable the food is, if the service is horrible, no one is going to come back.

Give this place a miss so that they would be spurred to treat their staff and customers/ humans well and implement a more efficient system, for once.

Cheers

Out on a Sunday browsing Glebe Road, decided to pop in for lunch. Daughter was very pleasantly surprised restaurant vego/vegan.
Service was nice, order taken quickly and not too long for order. I had quinoa salad with roasted veggies and garlic bread. Daughter had tofu burger. She loved hers. Mine was pretty good, but could have been a bit more flavoursome. It didn't seem like Veggies were roasted either .. could be wrong. Garlic bread was great.
Portions were generous, prices reasonable.
Long black coffee was really good.
Cake counter looked fantastic, alas we were being good 😟.
Would go back if ambling past, for sure.

Love this place, super relaxed, good food and open late so good option if you want to do something besides go to a pub in the evening. They do a great chai too

They forgot my order completely and didn't notice me sitting for 40 minutes waiting for it. I had to go up to the counter to ask where my food was, before they realised it was forgotten. I also sat at a table with a view into the kitchen and saw the chef tossing salad with his hands while only wearing a glove on one of them! Badde Manors is an old classic but clearly there are some problems with staff at the moment.

Cute little cafe - vegan and delicious ! Good food at affordable prices. It is in a good location right by Broadway Westfield- so good for a big breaky before shopping !

First came here back in 1983, and I must say nothing has changed! Tried the Vegan breakfast w scrambled tofu, roasted pumpkin, avocado, tomato, roasted mushroom, baked beans, chat potato, kale and sourdough toast. Delicious. Thought they would squeeze their own juices but apparently not....pressed juices brought in fresh daily in bottles! Very extensive menu providing breakfast, light meals, burgers, salads, cakes and desserts. Sit out the front on Glebe Point Road and watch the passing parade of creative, wonderful people!

Badde manors is a favourite when I am looking for home-style, healthy food that has been make with love. It has fantastic selection of cakes and desserts (So much that I struggle to decide) and the staff are always very lovely. Highly recommend for a wide menu and pleasant experience!

It's great to be able to find a coffee until late in Sydney.
I prefer sitting outside although inside has a historic (old:)) design.
Price/performance is awesome.
Suzy Of Sydney
I love Badde Manors - so cosy, old-worldy and offering delicious vegetarian food. The menu is so extensive that it suits any occasion - full dinner, light snack, coffee time. We loved the eggplant schnitzel! This is a great place to come and sit for hours.
Sydneyeats_by_two
Great spot to come for a vegetarian meal (we didn't realize this place was vegetarian for a long time), or for a late night meal. We always come here for a very late coffee and sweet!!

I really love the coffee here as they do a fantastic almond latte plus the cannolli's are really good too but my experience 2 days ago has made me promise to myself to never step foot inside again! What happened was I bought a donut at the nearby Doughnut Time for my son so I carried it in my hand into Badde Manors, ordered my latte and then sat down placing the donut in my bag out of sight out of respect. I sat and drank by latte then got up to leave which I took the donut of out my bag so it doesn't get squished, as I walk out, an older gentleman (im guessing the manager) approached me aggressively and said 'next time don't bring stuff like that (pointing at the box) into here' I was taken aback! I said to him I didn't eat it here and had it my bag and he then said 'just next time, dont'. I was so shocked and angry he humiliated me for something so silly! I didn't have it on the table or even touch it once I sat down! He was very aggressive and impolite even when I told him I didn't eat it. Badde Manors you should be ashamed for making a customer embarrassed like you did. I'll never come back!!

Really impressed by this quaint and cosy vegetarian cafe in Glebe. Their haloumi and rocket salad is incredible and their vegetarian lasagne tastes delicious. Portion sizes are very generous. Excellent coffee too! A fantastic place to catch up with friends over lunch.

It's funny because I am not a vegetarian and I knew that this is a vegetarian restaurant after eating. Anyway, I went for a coffee and cake and finally i discovered the sahlab. Very typical hot drink of Turkey. It is really good. you must go and try one. The cakes, very tasty. the pasta and the salad did look very interesting, and so, for the next time.
Rebecca Tay
The lasagna was tasty and didn't even taste vegetarian. The shepherds pie was unpleasant and tasted like powdered mash potato.
The liquid chocolate in the chocolate truffle was quite thin and poured out like a tap. This was a super sweet and rich dessert.

Homemade pancakes - Stack of warm homemade pancakes drizzled with maple syrup and topped with berries. Served with your choice of vanilla ice cream or ricotta cheese $11.50. Naturally between the choice of ice cream or ricotta, I go for ice cream. My pancakes are pretty good, I like them a little on the drier side, these are thinnish yet remain a little moist. I actually have chocolate sauce not maple syrup which tastes fine but I am naturally against menu changes if I haven’t been notified of them at the time of ordering. Other than that minor tiff, I finish the entire plate. Ash has the smoked salmon on muffins with poached eggs and hollandaise – he thinks it’s rather good too.

Went for a early morning coffee, highly disappointed. Ordered a mocha, price wasn't bad about what you'd expect. Though one of the worst mocha's I have ever had. Lumps of cocoa resulting in a sour chocolate taste, wasn't up to my standard really. Toilets we're grimy, needed a clean. Not sure about anything else. Just based of my mocha.

I have been here a few times now, always the perfectly cooked haloumi! Add a trio of dips. You have a winner on any occasion. Breakfast lunch or dinner. Would alway recommend this place. Only thing I could ask is come on.... Pancakes for desert?? :)

Evocative evergreen Glebe cafe with wooden banquettes and a yesteryear charm, circa the days when the Valhalla would screen double bills of The Great Gatsby and The Last Tycoon. Had eggs Florentine (two poached on zucchini and feta fritters with baby spinach and a cheesy Hollandaise sauce). Rather tasty. Also a stack of pancakes with maple syrup, strawberries and ice cream. Washed down with a swirly looking mango smoothie and a cup of Joe. Easy-going atmosphere, with everyone just minding their own business.

Been here a few times now, for breakfast, lunch and dinner.
Never been disappointed.
Coffee is always awesome, nachos are great for a smaller meal or for something bigger the shepherds pie is great!
Can't really go wrong here, also really well priced.
PS The funky fudge brownie is amazing!

Early Monday morning this place was open at 630am! Ordered mango lassie; it was unsweetened, creamy yet had that pleasantly sour mango yogurt taste which I think it makes a nice and healthy breakfast drink. Also got egg Florentine on zucchini fritter. This dish takes the egg Florentine into another level, zucchini fritter was beautifully seasoned with herbs and the poached egg was perfect; I mean PERPECT! The whites were cooked yolks were beautifully runny. I'm emphasizing this because I hardly have been getting perfectly cooked poached eggs these days (too many times they have runny egg white poached eggs 😦 spinaches were fresh and wilted nicely; hollandaise sauces put on top of the eggs were just the right amount. Probably one of the nicest Egg Florentine I've had. One thing I didn't like was the side tomato.. I had a bite and had to spit it out as it had that unnerving fishy taste. I'm not sure if it was fish gene infused GMO tomato or storing related issue but it kind of killed otherwise happy breakfast moment... I ordered latte to wash out my fishy taste, strong coffee but it has that slightly acidic flavor. All in all good breakfast I'll definitely come back to try other dishes next time!

The menu is great with such a wide variety and reasonable prices. I've been happy with the food every time, my favourite is the satay tofu burger, it's delicious. Very friendly people too. It's a great cafe

Don't let the word "vegetarian" deter you as this is one of my favourite cafes!! Wonderful food, beautifully decorated interior, attentive staff. Everything a cafe should be. Have always had great customer service and a positive experience eating here. I would highly recommend either of the risottos, the haloumi sandwich and pumpkin ravioli (think this was a special) were also great! It is also in close proximity to Sydney uni which makes it all the more better!

OMG! I'm impressed awesome homemade tiramisu $8 here. It was more tasty than I expected, the serving was large and I shared with my friend.
Perfect matched with coffee

It's one of a few vegetarian places in the area, we are lucky to have it! Meals are quite simple, reasonably priced. Staff friendly. Decor bit dated.

Have been here only once before and I thought it was average. Located on the main strip in Glebe.

Place prob needs a tidy up, unless they are going for that option.

Can get busy at times when the markets are on so be prepared to wait.

Prices are ok, staff was ok too but could be better.

It's not often you find a vegetarian restaurant that has plenty of choices that even a non-vegetarian would enjoy, so when I found Badde Mannora I knew it was something special. Add the fact that it's open very late most nights and you get a good combo.

The risotto and lasagne are my favourites so far.
The tiramisu doesn't go astray either.

For coffees/tea, they make authentic chai tea with all the rights spices (it is a little spicy, not your typical powdered chai).

Feeling peckish one night. Try it out and let me know what you think.

Badde Manors is something of a Glebe tradition. It specializes in healthy vegetarian food, with the added temptation of an amazing array of cakes and gelato. The dishes can be a bit hit and miss at times, likewise the service. But the cosy familiar feeling makes up for it all.

The best Tiramisu in Sydney can be found here. I've been here countless amount of times and never go past the Homemade Tiramisu, it's so creamy and full of yumminess with every single bite. Delicious Turkish Sahleb as well, and their Arancini balls I totally recommend trying. Great little cafe that is open quite late, there needs to be more of these in Sydney!!

This place is a landmark classic. I have been every decade for coffee and cake. It has a vibe and feel that can't be replicated. Do yourself a favour!

Badde Manors is something of an institution amongst Sydneysiders and one of the few 'true' cafes of the inner suburbs still standing after 28 years of service. The distinguishable angel statues over the front door and the rickety charm evoke its well-known bohemian ambience. Inside it's pure 'old world' charm; wooden booths and mismatched furniture, though quirky all makes for an immediate sense of home and comfort. The interior of the cafe is lively and bustling, whether it's 6.30am on a Saturday morning or 11.30pm on a Monday. The early opening and late closing hours - rare for a Sydney cafe - mean there's always a constant buzz and a heavy stream of customers. The menu is entirely vegetarian - with some vegan options - but the food is by no means a bland melange of beans and lentils. The tofu burger ($12.50) with satay sauce is hefty in size and taste, with a deep-fried tofu patty that's equally as decadent as a meatier option. The len

F for ...... FANTASTIC !!!!

I came here today with three of my girlfriends after work to see what all the fuss was about. It was busy however the waitress was very helpful and managed to find us a table in the terrace part of the cafe, it was filled with posters of local bands and artists which gave the cafe quite a personal touch. The food took about 20 minutes to arrive as expected because it was busy. We ordered the stuffed mushrooms, tofu burger and nachos. We were very impressed with all the dishes as they packed a great taste. Definitley coming back.

It was on a friend’s recommendation that I pinned my sights on BM, although I probably would have been tempted in regardless thanks to the chintzy chic of the place and the lure of a vegetarian menu – plus the place always seemed to be packed when I strolled by...

For Gourmet Gumbo, she ordered the Badde Manor’s exclusive big breakfast option. Since Badde Manors is a vegetarian cafe, the usual sausages and bacon were replaced with haloumi and potatoes. The idea seemed solid, and its execution was right on point! Gourmet Gumbo loved the flavours in combination, finding haloumi a great substitute for meat. The naan was delicious and coated with a beautiful herb mixture!

I was definitely satisfied post-meal, with both my hunger and my taste buds satiated. However, the best thing about the big vegan breakfast was value for money. It cost $12.50 all up— pretty damn good considering the variety of sides and the location of Badde Manors.

This place is definitely worth visiting and i would love to return to try more of their menu! i really love the outdoor seating as you can watch all the interesting things happening on Glebe point road! My little nephew loves watching the cars and buses drive past! he will point at them and say KA or BA really loudly. so cute right?!?

their menu indicates which dishes are vegan and which are vegetarian.

Badde Manors is not the place to come for a fast meal or amazing coffee, but instead more the ideal people watching cafe. It’s a bit of history on Glebe Point Road and while better places are popping up like crazy around it, it’s worth the novelty factor (and a useful food stop if you’re a vege person).
Amy
My sweetcorn cakes are quite delicious. The texture is a bit doughy and really, they're nothing special, but for $12.50, I am not complaining.

Staff were friendly and attentive, allowing us to make adjustments to the menu items so that they were vegan and gluten-free. Everything we ordered was nicely prepared and tasty. We have had better tofu burgers before, but it was quite acceptable. And we enjoyed the observing the buzz of activity on that street corner.

I had heard about Badde Manors and I had also heard that it was a vegetarian eatery. Being a vegetarian in Sydney, I was enthusiastic to try it out. However, it was wit

This quirky corner cafe on Glebe Point Road has long been a favourite haunt for locals and university students. The furniture is an eclectic mix of recycled wooden church pews and formica-topped tables. Decorations are anything goes, an op-shop's delight of vintage clocks, porcelain statues, childrens stuffed toys and dragon sculptures hanging from the ceiling.

There are only three places left on the original list of Glebe eateries published back in 1994 when the area was considered a main eat street....There are some photos of Badde Manors from 1986 in this Flickr gallery, as well as the long gone Demeter bakery on Mitchell Street. The outside of the cafe has just had a bright makeover. This is one vegetarian place where you never feel like you miss the meat, and sitting outside with a coffee is pole position on a sunny day.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Alex Harmon used to think vegetarians were missing out when it came to food (apart from being served first on an airline). Turns out the lacklustre restaurants with paper tablecloths and meatless mezze plates she had in mind were just a myth... Nourishing Quarter is a new addition to the vegetarian scene but in a fortunate position next to the super-popular Norfolk on Cleveland Street. They have a unique approach in that they fuse the healing properties of Latin American ingredients with exotic Asian and Mediterranean soul foods. The result? A flavoursome and exciting menu that satisfies and astounds even the strictest of carnivores. I recommend the Pretty Dumplings ($12.50/4) ; as their name suggests they're delicate Asian dumplings with Royal Quinoa grains, diced tofu and vegetables, wrapped in wheat dumpling dough. So silky you'll want to get into bed with them. Their Sacred Khot ($12.50/5) are savoury Vietnamese tarts served o

Before watching a movie last week, Smurf and I headed to Badde Manors for a bite to eat. I love this little corner cafe. It serves up quality vegetarian food, at relatively cheap prices and with huge portion sizes. Plus, their chai tea (house recipe) is a

I'm a fan of Badde Manors in Glebe for several reasons: they open till late; they have an above-decent selection of gelati, sorbets, cakes and pastries; I love the 'olde worlde' feeling of the interior furnishings; they do tasty vegetarian meals that even

Mixed greens, chick peas, runner beans, artichoke, grilled haloumi and roasted almonds are tossed in with a minted tahini sauce which she mentions is strangely bitter.

Delicious chai tea, and a generous serving. Yummy breakfast of scrambled eggs with asparagus and roasted potatoes and mushrooms on toast. I wouldn't normally go to vegetarian but this was delicious.

Service with a smile?. Being Boxing Day, you can't expect too many local cafes to be open, but being one of the few that were, I'd of expected a little friendlier service w my overpriced, undercooked fries and the worst rendition of a bruschetta I'd ever come across. Not too bad with the coffee, but it would've been a nice surprise to of gotten a smile from the counter man who took the money. Definitely won't be back!

Glad I found this place!. Been here a few times and always enjoy the pastas and tofu burger! cakes are always a must and I can't go past the cheesecakes or the pineapple coconut frappe. I always ask for extra garlic toast with the pasta aswell, not too garlicy and the bread is not soggy. good prices and good coffee aswell.

A Pleasant Surprise. I came to this cafe only because the cafe that I wanted to visit was closed. However I'm glad that this was the case because I loved Badde Manors. They have a range of different hot drinks (besides hot chocolate and chai latte) for non-coffee drinkers such as myself. The hot cider with cloves was delicious and reminded me of the hot apple ciders that I used to drink in Canada. The crumbed ricotta-stuffed mushrooms with capsicum sauce were delicious and the hazelnut chocolate strudel was also very more-ish. I can hardly wait to come back and try the rest of the menu. The desserts available also look amazing and a different from the stock standard muffins etc. that you usually see at cafes. The lady that served as was also very sweet and helpful. I look forward to coming back soon! I am glad that I stumbled across this place!

There was a very rude middle aged man wearing glasses who took mine and my husband's order. He didn't get our order right and when we told him he was very abrupt and rude. We will not be returning. .. EVER!

Nina, Tom and Jason we're the Dream Team! The service they gave us was outstanding and the food incredibly delicious :)
Prompt, friendly and great value... We'll be coming back again soon!

Don't really know much about the plc, but the vegan burgers are all very good.

Would Take My Mother.. Food was delicious (stuffed crumbed mushrooms, side of haloumi) staff were friendly, prompt and attentive, hot chocolate was the best I've ever had; rich, not too sweet, generous with the fluff. Food arrived within 20mins. Great selection of food, especially deserts. Decor unpretentious and shabby. Parking easy to find.

Selective ordering would be prudent. I've been here several times and the only things I have really enjoyed are the cakes, which are quite rich. The meals themselves are pricy and with the same amount of money you can have better food from other cafés in Glebe. There's also an interesting selection of "exotic" drinks which have conjured many mixed reactions whenever I brought friends here, so try them with caution if you're on the conservative side. Service's average.

Sorbat sorsu is so bad! So many chunks of ginger very unpleasant, they really should have filtered it. On another note, French toast is delicious and so is the haloumi avocado toastie

Having been obsessed with this place for ages, I'm seriously disappointed. Went in tonight for dinner and it was bad from start to finish.

Waitress didn't show us to our table, we were left to find the one she vaguely pointed to. She left us for three minutes before demanding our order and then plonked a bottle of cloudy water on the table. When we were ready to order she acted as if we were an inconvenience, and when she came over with the cutlery she practically threw it on the table with not so much as a word.

The food was terrible. I had the eggplant schnitzel and the person with me had the Mediterranean tasting platter.

The mashed potato was sloppy and grainy with too much butter and a strange taste, the mushrooms were horrid, the garlic bread was lukewarm and barely toasted and I got five pieces of insignificant vegetables.

The hummus on the platter tasted like blitzed cardboard and the eggplant dip wasn't too smoky; almost as if the eggplants were burnt. The tahini with tomato and cucumber was the consistency of single pouring cream and the falafel was over cooked.

After I left half of my food, the plates sat on the table before the aforementioned waitress took them away with no words spoken. The woman at the register didn't ask us about our meal, either. Probably a good thing.

Standards have seriously slipped and since I'm now incredibly unwell I will not be going back.

Diner review. Good food, good service. Unfortunately, staff who lick their fingers. Gross

Just had breakfast here. So disappointed! Moved out of area so hadn't eaten here in a while. Used to be the best breakfast in Sydney. Now just tastes like hospital food. Hope they get back to their greatness but I will not return.

Tried this coffee shop and was always served with nudeness. Literary, they serve with bad manors! Not going there again!

Great Breakfast. I always get the big vegan breakfast, it always tastes amazing!
I usually replace the tofu and beans with feta and tomato and the staff are really friendly and happy to accommodate my changes. There are so many other good looking things to try on the menu and ill keep coming back to try them all!

Badde sandwich. The "toasted sandwich" was a fail. The mushroom, olive tapenade, tomatoes and rocket sounded like a winner but don't be fooled. Mushrooms were barely present and the tomatoes were strangely mushy. Best bit of the sandwich was the thick sourdough slices. Not sure if their hot food is any good, but if they can't get a sandwich right, I don't hold much hope for the rest of the menu.

Love this place! Been here over 10 times this year and it has always been a pleasant experience. The specials are always different and the food is always fresh and delicious. I'm not sure why people seem to have such a bad experience with the wait staff but I have had friendly and helpful service everytime. This place has great value and great food so I will definitely stay a regular!

Rudeness part of the charm. Yet another place around Newtown/Glebe that gets criticised for service, but frankly if you care that much about service you're in the wrong part of town.
Coffee is average though reasonably strong. Food pretty consistently good, Mediterranean fritters were a surprisingly good choice just the other night. Prices reasonable for the area and quality, large portion sizes are a bonus.
Best of all of course is that the entire menu is vegetarian with plenty of vegan options.
Not much seating for smokers but its not a great place to sit around for a long time so its not so much of a problem.
Gets quite busy on the weekends or in the mornings but is usually fairly quite at night, never had a problem getting a seat after 7pm
An institution of the area and I hope it stays the same and keeps the yuppies out.

Hot chocolates arent very nice. This is a very quaint little place, I will go back.... I was only there for a drink and the hot chocolate was not good at all... it does look cute though so I'll try again :-)

Well the name certainly lives up to the expectation, and that was the encounter we experienced tonight. Walked in and was told we can sit at a table for 4, but there were only 2 of us we sat down and was ready to order inside, as it was warm and cosy. Only to then be approached by another customer who was with a group of seven people, asking if they could have our seats and we move outside in the cold. To which my response was no. Then waitress approaches and said the manager asked us to move outside. again i told her no, we came first and have already been seated. We asked to speak to the manager, waitress left and came back and asked us if we were ready to order (because the party of 7 had left). So we did. And then left.

Great food, and best chai tea in Sydney.. I really don't know why there are so many bad reviews here. We go there alot and have never had any problems. The food is good, and it's always worthwhile to keep an eye out for the daily specials. I've had some great meals there that I've only once ever seen on the board. Their chai tea cannot be beaten. Friends and I all agree it's the best in Sydney.
