Have been visiting for years and have never been disappointed. The best Soy Chai in Sydney, would visit just for the chai. Love the salad plates and breakfasts here. Great place to come with friends to share a few things, so you can try out the menu.
amazing turkey sandwich, loved the salad as well.
I ordered the Parmesan not-so- scrambled egg with truffle oil with bismati rice. It was so good. The not-so-scrambled egg was perfect. The fluffiness was perfect. And the truffle oil really complimented the egg.
Great place for lunch/brunch! Always super busy. Love the ambience and decor. Food is delicious, healthy, fresh and well presented. Would recommend!
Quality food - yum đ
Only downfall here is that there is legit always a queue, even after years of being open!
The food is a little exie but itâs definitely up there for quality. Really enjoyed and would go back if I had the time to spare đđ
My favourite breakfast spot in Sydney. Iâm from Melbourne and my partner lives in Sydney. Every time I come up, we always stop by here straight from the airport. Delicious food, good ambience and service.
Very cute cafe in a warehouse setting. The portions were large! The porridge was very bland even though it was covered in toppings. The egg and tomato breakfast was over spiced with herbs. But in general it was pretty good. Some of the wait staff were friendly and the others seemed to drop our coffees on the table in anger? Strange
Beautiful fresh atmosphere decor refreshing food delicious scrumptious.. place is buzzing.
Smell of fresh coffee brewing.. awesome .. highly recommend
We have visited Bread & Circus many times we love it! The decor of the place is super cute with baby pink plates and fruit & vegetables displayed all over the place. Great menu options. We always have such a tough time deciding what to get because everything is so yum! Our favorites include the âParmesan not-so-scrambled eggsâ, the âMorning Jumbleâ granola and the pancakes! Serving sizes are very generous; big pieces of bread and heaps of fresh seasonal fruit with the granola. Sometimes it can get really busy with long waiting times (usually Saturdays and Sundays). The table arrangements are shared seating tables which can sometimes feel a bit cramped. Other than that a great spot to grab a bite to eat!
Though this place is pricy, Bread and Circus knows how to do brunch and do it well. All the food is well presented and will always leave you satisfied. Be prepared to wait however as this place is generally very packed, otherwise a very enjoyable cafe experience!
Lunch was great even though I have to go agains all this crazy SYDNEY rain đ§ that poured constantly today, and it was worth it!
Whatâs not to love on cold weather? Soup! Yes once my eyes see this items on the menu, I knew it was the great option.
âSix hour organic brown rice congeeâ, served with diced carrots, ginger, onion, chilli flakes and shallots.
This dish were made my day, bang on flavour! It was nothing else to add in this congee, perfection!
Since this is not your typical Asian kitchen, they served congee with torn rustic toasted bread, which is a little unusual for me, since usually congee usually served with fried bread sticks!
Anyway, it was yum to the max and donât worry about the chilli cause itâs only in the background on the dish, you wonât even feel the heat at all.
âThe amazing Arifin Thai beef lemon grass, galangal, ginger, chilli coriander curryâ served with basmati rice.
Well, this dish was ok but not as good as the congee, a little let down for me since the congee was absolutely delicious.
Since Iâve taste the chef skills on the first dish, I knew this dish wasnât prepare by the same person.
Beef was falling apart, yet flavour loses the cooking process!
Beef, plain and boring, doesnât have neither have tasty marinate or sweetness, so I am not sure but guessing the beef has been boiled or in pressure cooker separate with sauce, which is not making sense to me at all.
Sorry Chef, I hope you checking today lunch batches as for me such a shame a great dish serve average.
oh, I almost forget, the cold cup, it will cost you $7,
âFig and Ginger rainwater kefirâ, to me taste like kombucha but a little sweet.
Thanks Guys for a beautiful lunch today!
AMAZING i love their iced lattes and avo on toast. would recommend to anyone. isnât too expensive, and the fruit plate is very good!!!!! love the pink plates they serve it on as well.
One of my favourite cafes in Sydney! Service is always good and a lot of options for the healthy conscious. I love coming here and they never miss the mark. Definitely a popular venue in Sydney.
One of my favourite cafes to visit on weekends! great vibe to it and the salad options are good and delish! Not too sure if I can comment much on the service but nothing to fault either. Great place! Overall good cafe to recommend to friends.

One of my all time favourite brunch spots. I can never go past the Breakfast with Gwyneth and a side of ricotta or haloumi. Also good is their scrambled eggs with truffle oil and a side of basmati rice. Great coffee here too. Always a good place to visit for a feast!
Completely overwhelmed with how amazing this place looks.
Walked into such a cute warehouse looking combined/cafe filled with pink everything and tumblr-inspired aesthetics. Got seated immediately in colourful little booths where we got handed paper menus.
My friend ordered a mocha and it was seriously one of the best mochas Iâve ever tasted! (Unfortunately forgot to take a photo)
Lots of healthy options to choose from for breakfast. I got the not-so-scrambled eggs with chilli and they were delicious - but the sourdough bread was amaaazingđ I also ordered the pike pine drink which is just a blend of watermelon and pineapple and it was lovely. My friend ordered the pancakes and even though they werenât the best looking pancakes in the world - they tasted amazing with the accompanying sides - especially the caramelised bananađ
Overall a great cafe to visit and definitely one ticked off the list!
Food recommendation: caramelised lemony banana pancakesđ
Drink recommendation: mochaâïž
Best Flourless healthy GF pancake ive ever tasted, it is Lemony Vanilla Pancake. I also ordered parmesan not so scrambled egg. They both are faboulous! Will come back for sure.
Yup, it was delicious. Conveniently located across from Dan Murphyâs (Iâm only kind of joking), this warehouse space has always been appealing as a place for coffee, a snack or breakfast. Bread & Circus is brightly coloured and whimsical, and though husband thinks the lunch menu is more interesting, I liked my breakfast a lot.
Breakfast here is next level - so fresh and tasty! Great spot for brunch on a weekday when thereâs no crowd. Canât go past the tomatoes that you see piled up as you walk in! Tomato and avo on toast or the summer plate are pure win.
Just as good as the first time!
We came on a Saturday morning around 8am. Not very busy so we were able to grab a nice comfy booth.
Our waiter was so funny and made us laugh, really laidback and made us welcome. Drinks and food came quickly.
We had two cold drips and one Turning Japanese juice. Cold drips were amazing, as usual. The juice was refreshing and yummy - just what I needed.
Meals were absolutely perfect. Summer on Toast was light and delightful. The Caramelised Lemony Banana Pancakes were heaven, could not get enough of those!
I've had the salads before as well, also delicious. Their meals are always fresh and wholesome.
$50-$60 for two people, not including the weekend surcharge of 15%. Not impressed with the high surcharge but guess that's Sydney for ya.
Been here a few times in the last few months....what a pretty setting! A light and bright warehouse - style cafe fitted out with the romantic decor of a character filled country cottage. (Think pumpkins, fresh organic produce and grandma's kitchen cabinets). Friendly wait-staff and unbeatable food make this cozy, hip, neighbourhood cafe a place you want to return to again and again! The menu is seriously full of goodness! I chose the "breakfast w/gwyneth" which consisted of sautéed white quinoa, kale and mixed green w/garlic and chilli and two biodynamic eggs. Divine! My friend had the fruit plate w/biodynamic yoghurt and a drizzle of agave syrup! Heaven! The menu changes daily so you could pretty much eat here everyday and never get bored! Truly a lovely place to go!
First time visiting this cafe. As I was waiting for a table, I read on the menu that there's a 12.5% surcharge on weekends (what?). Food was good, but the menu didnt have much variety... nothing stood out of the ordinary. The waiter forgot to take our coffee order. Atleast I wasn't charged the surcharge.
This Café has two themes, one is pink, the other is "biodynamic" and "organic".
This Café is at the back at Campos coffee. For those who come here for the first time it might be a little confusing. But if you see a place which is in pink decoration, I'm sure you get the right place.
#Caramelised lemony banana pancakes# is ok but I am not satisfied with the quantity. There are two pancakes, banana slices with melted caramel on top and strawberries. The pancake does not have much energy but is healthier. However the taste is just ordinary.
#Organic lemongrass and ginger soy chai# has a strong ginger taste, again is healthier but loses the taste.
Maybe I'll come back and try their porridge. Recommend this for those who love healthy food.
Pleasant service. Decor is a bit tired and drab. The porridge was excellent with beautiful fresh ingredients. Coffee was strong and creamy. Would recommend the breakfast options.
A long wait in time, but expected for Sunday brunch. After being seated, it was worth the wait. The beef sandwich box was great, a messy eat but tasty! If your feeling healthy but crave pancakes, try the flourless pancakes for a balance Sunday brunch meal!
One of my absolute favourites and a regular. Love the not so scrambled eggs for breakfast and the lunch boxes for lunch. So wholesome and always so fresh.
despite having to wait 20 minutes to be seated, it was worth the wait. Coffee was great and food was delicious. Got the scrambled eggs with avocado and it had lots of flavour with the chilli. Would definitely recommend
Yes Yes Yes! We have been visiting Bread and Circus for a number of years and each year it grows in popularity. It is located in a converted warehouse with a few other cafes and stalls giving it a trendy marketplace feel.
Towards the end of the warehouse is where Bread and Circus is located with a predominate pink theme. You can't miss a photo from these guys cause the pink plates have become the highly recognisable signature across Sydney. We highly recommend the parmesan not so scrambled eggs where you can choose to have them with chilli or truffle oil, both are tasty! If you have come through for Lunch we highly recommend the deconstructed Sandwich Boxes, they are very hearty and very refreshing for a great price too. We have tried the preservative free bangalow pork salami and the grass-fed sustainable medium-rare beef and we loved both options.
With winter or a rainy day always around the corner in Sydney, you must try the chicken congi soup! Very filling and just what the doctor ordered on a dark and gloomy day. Overall the vibe at the café is cosy and vibrant, the staff are great and all the ingredients sourced from the best suppliers.
The food and ambience of this place is somewhere between a farmers market and a bustling city cafe with all the healthy trimmings. We had the scrambled eggs and the flourless pancakes. Those pancakes! So good and so healthy. You know you've had a strong breaky when you're full but not in a food coma.
I found the staff were especially attentive, making a Sunday morning brekky a pleasant outing.
The only downside was that they didn't have any soy milk so the lactose intolerant could only enjoy their cold drip coffee which was still good but on a Sunday morning all you want is a solid favourite coffee fix. Having said that I ordered the full cream milk coffee and it wasn't anything to rave about so a little disappointed on that front. Then again, they aren't trying to be the fav coffee place In that joint (campos being right next door).
So yum! Loved it all. But the acoustics are shit! Every single diner at our table was thrilled with their breakfasts and beverages. Tip top effort.
Hmm last day of summer and I had to see it out with a juice. Watermelon and pineapple. Couldn't think of anything more summery. Literally drank it in 20secs. So good!
I've been on the lookout for brunch spots serving good and wholesome food and this definitely hit the spot! The Not So Scrambled eggs is the perfect breakfast. Silky scrambled eggs laced with truffle, wilted baby spinach with some fresh avocados and tomatoes served with 2 slices of textured & crispy sourdough bread slices - I'll definitely be back here for more!!!
It's such a cute place if you love pumpkins with googly eyes and pink everything. Bread & Circus is eye candy.
We got the Parmesan Not-So-Scrambled Eggs which is absolutely yum. The bio-dynamic scrambled eggs had me at hello. Beautifully cooked with truffle oil, with fresh chillis and shaved parmesan. And the sour dough bread is just delicious.
And if you love pancakes, look no further. Bread & Circus's Caramelised Lemony Banana Pancakes are divine. The flourless pancakes are soft and fluffy. Served with caramelised banana, strawberry and ricotta, drizzled in maple syrup. You can have it witn lemon compound butter, to add a bit of zing to your breakkie.
And it's the perfect place to flatlay! xx

Wanted to come here for a long time and finally happened!
Loved the food (we had the not so scrambled eggs and avo toast), the service and the place, but I think the coffee is not as good... Will be back in a heartbeat though, just not for the coffee đ
Had the banana pancakes and the parmesan eggs for breakfast, both nicely presented. The pancakes were great and a good serving (3). Loved the caramelized banana and the ricotta on top. Very open and colorful setup, feels good having breakfast in a place like this. Well done.
Delicious, wholesome, beautiful breakfast! I loved the porridge with beautifully presented toppings of fresh fruits, coconut, clotted cream, syrup. The cafe was so lovely to sit in - bright, airy, colourful - and the menu is vibrant and exciting. The prices are slightly on the expensive end, but nonetheless a lovely place.
AMZING, AMAZING, AMAZING! When you first walk into Bread & Circus you just think 'wow, this place looks amazing'. It is covered with greenery and makes you feel like you're having brunch in someone's secret garden. We wanted to try everything on the menu and only managed to shrink it down to 3 dishes for 2 people. It was a challenge to finish but well worth it. Everything tastes so fresh, healthy and natural and I could just hear my insides jumping for joy. I have absolutely no faults for Bread & Circus and wish I was able to go everyday.
Cute spot with shared tables, pink dinnerware and a menu which is bound to please! Lovely service. Good value! Would definitely come back! đđœ
My first thought when I walked in was 'Wow, this place feels so healthy!' The place uses fresh fruit and veg as decor (which makes sense if they use/cook it the day after since they have daily menu changes). Picked up a pineapple thinking it was a fake, and I was caught out by the weight and then realised everything on the table was real. There's also peppercorn, non-grounded black pepper, different types of squash. Each table has random bowls of fruit and veg.
I love Bread and Circus, and I'm reminded every time I visit. The irony in the menu is that 'there are no changes to menu items' yet the menu style makes everything so customisable via twenty-odd options and more, that you really don't need to. Â Combinations are pretty much endless, opt for a couple of sides, opt for 3-4 salads, all in different sizes. Add more sides, or get a sandwich box. It can seem overwhelming at first due to its approach, but a quick chat with the staff settles any alarm.Â
Coffee here is significantly good and service quick despite the crowds. I've seen this place on a weekend and it's best avoided if you're in a hurry to eat. Stick to mid week, and enjoy a clean, satisfying meal. The menu changes daily. Plenty of plant foods and plenty of proteins so fantastic for a group with different preferences. Communal seating makes it breezy for big groups, and there are a few cosy hidden booths for those visiting with only other or a couple more.Â
The focus here is fresh - and it lives up to the image of what Bread & Circus are selling. Vibrant, tasty, wholesome, and what greenery isn't highly photogenic against a backdrop of pastel pink ceramics?

Salads: fresh, healthy and seriously tasty
Drinks: amazing smoothies
Service: friendly and attentive
Ambience: casual and relaxed

Our weekend to go place for salad fix. Rotating salads based on seasonal produce with atypical dressing that just works perfectly. Strongly recommended for salad and even non salad lovers.
Negatives
Coffee is a bit lacking, especially when campos is next door. A bit of a wait on weekends, mainly shared tables, and spicy orientated dressings may not please everyone.
Yummmm so worth the wait! I had to line up to get us a table, and once seated had to wait a while for the food but other than that I can't fault the place!
I had avocado and tomato on toast with a side of poached chicken and boy I was in heaven. The poached chicken doesn't regularity come with the dish - I definitely recommend getting it as a side! The chicken comes with aioli and it takes the avo on toast to another level; it would be a great combo to suggest on the menu.
My friend had the porridge which presented beautifully and tasted great. Although the porridge was pretty traditional, the toppings they put with the dish transformed it! There was a cool thick cream which gave it a creamy texture, fried banana which gave it a warm caramel taste, and agave syrup for a subtle sweet taste. Couldn't fault ether of the dishes :)
I love the vibe and architecture of the cafe! The staff are friendly, and the cafe itself is bright and lively. There are plenty of spacious tables making it a great place to go even when it's busy. I'll defiantly come back here and suggest it to everyone.
Went here with the folks today and they loved it. I've been trying to go for a while, but there's always ten or so people in the line. Today with the huge rain downpour, we thought it might be quiet - it was. The theming Is beautiful - nice vegetables, pink plates and jars, and wooden tables.
My dad got the Quinoa and scrambled eggs which was nice and healthy. Mum got the pumpkin Soup. She said it was as good as hers, just a bit too spicy. Came with a side of bread. My sister got the salad which was nice and fresh. I got the winter bread which was bread drizzled with proper honeycomb honey. Yum. They vary each week with variation to the fruit and veg on the menu. Great whole food cafe.
Eggs are described as biodynamic. Â Some eggs are labelled as not so scrambled. Â Butter is available in an interesting combination of cinnamon, thyme and honey flavours. Â There are phrases used like "preservative-free" and "free range". Â The Kimchi is described as probiotic, slow fermented and raw, which is accurate. Â Organic chicken is poached with olive oil or a combination of ginger and lemon.Touches of truffle and white Quinoa. Â Menus handed out state the current calendar day. Â Â I noticed the Rainy Day Toast. Â Communal table seating, Â a first meet counter like before entering a hotel facility outlet. Â Â There is a buzz at meal times , not just from BAC itself but also from its neighbouring fellow food outlets. Oh yes, there are the blends, smoothies and cold pressed juices, as in any respectable farmers' market but in a urbane landscape.I noticed the prevalence of assembled food boxes at BAC, a feature I came across as well at the Flat White With One Cafe in Russell Vale NSW. Â Here quality ingredients are selected and assembled for putting on bread or just eaten themselves. Â There are less plates to clean up and cutlery is as usual provided on the tables.
Pink is my favourite colour so as soon as I stepped in to Bread & Circus, I had already warmed to the place. Pink tiles, pink cabinets, pink plates AND fresh flowers with a bunch of fruit and vegetables displayed around. Whatâs not to love.
On top of that the guy working there was ridiculously attentive and friendly. Fantastic service.
We ordered the breakfast with Gwyneth and caramelised lemony banana pancakes along with a latte and gyokuro green tea.
The latte was picture perfect. I could tell its smoothness with my eyes and to no surprise it was really good coffee. Iâd say it was on par with Gumption. On the other hand, the green tea was a bit of a let down. They say the Gyokuro type is one of the finest Japanese teas available, but I think Iâll pass. Perhaps if it was in the form of a latte? I donât know⊠I must have peasant taste cause I like dragon well haha. Also, they give you the tiniest amount. And for $7? Yeah, Iâll pass.
The pancakes were delightful. They looked a little dry, but were fluffy and moist. Strawberries were really fresh and caramelised bananas so sweet but in a good way. The lemony taste wasnât strong.
Finally, the star player â Breakfast with Gwyneth. Thoroughly enjoyed this dish. BUT, just too much salt on the eggs.
Bread & Circus is a delightful café and I would have gladly scored a 4.5 overall (especially for the coffee and quinoa dish), however ended with 4 for the salty eggs.
Today I had breakfast with Gwenyth ;). Similar to a veggie bowl I've had before from another cafe. The chili adds a nice zing every now and then, the garlic infused spinach was flavourful and fresh. Nice coffee too. Felt at home here with cute little pumpkins as table decor! Hehe :)
If your up for a healthy lunch then this is the place to go.
Great salads and massive servings to fill you up!
Most of the tables here are share tables so not the best spot for a private chat.
Great breakfast spot, had breakfast with gwyneth, this had white quinoa, kale and mixed greens with garlic and chilli under 2 biodynamic eggs , tasted liked a healthier alternative for fried rice loved the garlic and chill, really enjoyed this dish. Have visited this spot just to get this dish

Great lunch stop. We went on a weekday as reviews indicate weekends are hectic. It was still busy but it didn't affect getting a seat or wait times. Love that you can assemble you're own meal and all ingredients were such terrific quality produce! Also loved being able to then wander over for a cheeky selection of home made chocolates. Can't wait to go back!
Came to bread and circus for a girls lunch. Airy and fresh the decor is farmyard chic. Communal tables in a big area shared with some other eating places. There is parking out the back.
You can pick salads (choose to mix them and in different sizes) and order a side of protein. I got the beans broccoli and cabbage salads and a side of rare beef. I found everything needing salt but made nicely.
The coffee was nice too. Overall nice and healthy food.

Love this place! We always go for a perfect simple breakfast and it always delivers. We appreciate their use of wonderful ingredients and will keep coming back!
Always the best! đđđ Fantastic food. Fantastic service. Been coming here for ages and have never been disappointed. â€ïžâïžđđ certainly one of my favourites đđ»đđ
I only came here for the salmon pink coloured interior and plates! đžđž I was not disappointed with the service, extremely friendly, menu evolves everyday and it's organic with full of nutrients. I only disliked the sourdough bread, it was extremely hard, you can't cut it with a fork or bloody bite it. (Unless you want to lose a tooth or two)
This is my regular spot..
Eggs not so scrambled with chilli & a fresh juice !!
The food is always delicious and never lets me down. Get there early (7-9am)or you may have to line up. There sourdough is the best I have had. Crunchy and chewy accompanied by fresh ingredients for a wholesome breakfast..!!
Hidden amidst a façade of industrial buildings, Alexandria is full of popular cafĂ©s and gourmet food vendors. Despite my penchant for good food, Alexandria is not an area I have explored thoroughly in my 16 years in Sydney. Unlike Surry Hills, Glebe and Newtown (which are my other favourite Sydney suburbs), Alexandria is not easily accessible by public transport. However, after drooling over Instagram photos of their menu, Bread & Circus Wholefoods Canteen had been on my list of âplaces to brunchâ for months so I thought a visit to Alexandria was overdue.
Bread & Circus is all about pink and flowers and seasonal fruits laid about randomly but strategically in every nook and cranny. It's pretty and it feels like you're having meals in a flower shop, I love it. . The wait is pretty long, you have to queue up for a table corner space then wait some more to order and finally to get the food and drinks. You definitely come here to spend a while. I got my truffle oil drizzled brunch fare and was satisfyingly full afterwards.
Regularly order the "not so runny eggs" - delicious truffle eggs with fresh sides and am never disappointed. "Super bowl" salad has a generous amount of delicious yoghurt and fresh fruits. Coffee is ok - the food and produce avail for sale is better however. Place is lively and busy, always friendly with efficient service - communal tables so you may end up sharing during busy periods. Grab some Monsieur Truffle chocolate if you're in the mood for an indulgent treat! (FYI Surcharge for all credit cards)
Very crowded but worth the wait. The decor is trendy, you can see the fresh produce everywhere, and they have an open window to their bakery area.
The brekkie menu (served all day on weekends) is extensive - so many great options. Everything is wholesome and nourishing. I ordered the "Parmesan not so scrambled" ($20) and it was delicious. Yummy folds of eggs, fresh tomato and avocado, well seasoned spinach, and yummy sourdough bread. Great breakfast. Also ordered the "Apple a day" cold pressed juice ($8) - I thought this had too much cinnamon and, as a result, had an unpleasant heat to it. Got a berry crumble muffin to take away and it was delicious as well.
Service is very good in all respects and all up (including wait time), it was reasonable. Worth a visit !
I really like this place. It's a must try if your in the area. It's a really smart food concept and the decor is really cool. It's not a coffee venue it's about the food and beverages that promote healthy living but do not lack flavour or personality.
It's $17/sandwich, but don't let that detract you from ordering them. I ordered the beef and it was presented as a deconstructed sandwich with SUPER generous portions of medium rare beef slices. No joke.
It also comes packed with a fresh salad and a side of mayo/yoghurt to finish off building the perfect sandwich.
Come to this place for a fulfilling meal that is not in any way greasy or a "regret" for your stomach. Fresh, plentiful, filling. What more could you want?
All time favourite cafe here in Alexandria. Everything on their menu is scrumptious and healthy, especially their gweneth and pancakes. Also spoilt for choices with the wide variety of juices and teas. The wait is never long and the service here is always friendly.
Anything that says 'whole foods' is a win for me. Everything in Bread&Circus is organic, wholesome, a superfood, biodynamic and nutrient rich. You leave feeling satisfied with the choices you've made. I love the idea of quinoa with eggs, kale and chilli complimented with a freshly squeezed juice - an awesome way to kick start your day. The ambience is also really really cool :)
Prepare for BIG LINES but the food is worth it, you leave feeing really good about the choices you made when it came to the food so got freshly squeezed juices and brekky, everything is organic and fresh you will not be disappointed!
Wholefoods! Buzzword. It's definitely got the crowds queueing around the block. The decor is full of spring harvest and sunlit windows, I almost feel I'm in a greenhouse.
We ordered the truffle scrambled eggs with parmesan and the quinoa with chilli, kale and biodynamic eggs. I've read mixed reviews of this place but a diner here truly has to appreciate the minimal seasoning to bring out the fresh flavours of the ingredients. The freshness of the ingredients really shines through. The scrambled eggs were fluffy with a perfect amount of truffle and went well with classic avocado and sourdough toast but the flavour combination is nothing to shout about. The quinoa was really fluffy, perfectly pan fried to give it an airy texture, the Kale gave it a charred flavour and the pops of chilli gave it a little kick. The quinoa was quite a stand out dish because its simple yet it has so much to offer. It's so good I've tried to replicate this at home!
I also had a filter coffee but unfortunately this was too weak for my liking. Pricing is a tad on the high end of town for brunch considering the simplicity of the cooking, but the fresh ingredients make up for it to an extent.
Alexandria is normally known for its tight and busy streets, packed full of industry and home improvement centres with the constant roar of low flying planes. I was in the area and craving some cafe food. Within an instant, I found myself walking into Bread and Circus. Located in a huge warehouse which is shared with the new Campos âDon Camposâ cafe, Bread and Circus looks and sounds like a market place. The smell of sauteed garlic, the familiar churn of the coffee grinder and the colourful set up had all of my senses tingling.
Despite being 2 pm on a Sunday, there was still a decent wait for seats. The starvation had truly hit by the time that we were seated at one of the communal tables. Although the Bread & Circus menu changes daily, they have some permanent signature dishes. I opted for one such dish, the scrambled eggs, partially because they are renowned for being delicious but also because they would satisfy the post-run protein craving. Boy, did I make a good decision. It was easy to see why the dish is so popular: it truly was delicious. The eggs were exceptionally fluffy and the portion was a generous serving. The truffle flavour was subtle rather than overpowering. All in all, I was very satisfied with the dish and wouldn't hesitate to recommend it.
This place is always about freshness. I tend to stick to their pumpkin / sweet potato soup or the beef salad box so I cannot comment widely on the menu.
There is a feeling amongst friends that the salad options tend to be too heavy but this is perfect when we want a nourishing & filling meal.
Hot tip is to check the menu online as it changes daily.
Whilst the food is good the coffee needs improvement. Ordered a long black which was like drinking warm mud. The waitress took it off our bill which was nice
I have a love hate relationship with this place. I absolutely love everything I've ever had here. It's delicious, it's either healthy or its healthyish and they give you hearty portions. Fantastic food. Unfortunately the service just doesn't stack up. Think they've gotten too big for their boots. Granted, they're immensely popular. But I still don't think that justifies arrogance. Having said that, I return. Time and time again - because the food is absolutely worth it. Must order: Breakfast with Gwyneth (quinoa and eggs) - it's amazing. Their salads are ridiculously good too.
Love the make your own sandwich boxes at bread and circus. Little bit crowded at times and the service can be a bit slow. The heirloom tomato and goats cheese toast is a favourite. Great place all in all.
We stopped in here for a take away coffee and business was booming (so it must be good). The girl that served us was super friendly, and the place looks very hipster/stylish. The hazelnut/choc chip cookie looked amazing so we had to have one. It was huge (and delicious). The coffee was great. There was a huge queue to sit down for breakfast, but we were in a hurry. I will defo stop in here next time for breakfast.
A great overall experience at Bread and Circus. Attentive service and perfect food. The scrambled eggs were silky smooth and delicious with truffle oil. Nothing compares to the lemon pancakes though, with brûlée banana and strawberries. Seriously the tastiest pancakes ever. Would go back for sure. Only criticism is it is quite expensive ($4.5 for a standard coffee etc).
Warehouse like atmosphere, cute decorations with fruit and veggies. Friendly staff, fresh food. Great escape for brunch and coffee with the girls.
