A nice spot in the city to have breakfast with a view.
It’s generally really busy over the weekends. There are options for vegetarians as well as bacon lovers.
Great spot for a little winter sun and peace and quiet away from the city noise and mass of humanity. Always surprised how this place isn't busier as I have not had trouble getting a seat.
It's a limited menu but across the variety I have had the good is solid enough. The pancakes are a mass of bits and pieces and highly picture worthy. Ice cream and fairy floss for breakfast! Coffee is average but made a little nicer by the leafy surrounds and view of the park.
Perfect outdoor park cafe with a fabulous menu to enjoy the brilliant weather and ambience. Has two separate counters, one for coffee and quick bites and one for drinks (sangria anyone?) and meals. Ensure you pick a spot that's away from the counters to avoid the long queue of people eavesdropping on your dining conversations.
A great little spot in the park after a big walk called in for a freshly squeezed orange juice and breakfast was super - oh hit with a 10% weekend
A nice cafe located right beside the entrance to St James Station on Elizabeth Street. Lined up in the long queue (it was a lovely day out and everyone else had the same idea) for lunch and served by a friendly lady. Make your order and payment at the counter. Number handed to you and search for an available table. Lucky for us, there was a spare table inside so we weren't stuck outside in the scorching sun.
I had the Metro Beef Burger and a side of Sweet Potato Wedges. The burger looked small with a strange sides of a couple of corn chips and some cauliflower. Lucky it tasted a whole heap better than it tasted! I enjoyed the beef patty with the slow cooked beef cheek. Both were nice and juicy. Enjoyed the other components of the burger too. The wedges were nice and crispy as well as soft on the inside.
Great cafe located behind st James train station offering a good selection of cafe food in a lovely space overlooking the park. The space of fresh and open with pretty easterly aspect. You order at the bar and your food gets brought to the table. The food comes out quickly. I highly recommend the spicy pepperoni pizza.
No one would think that there's a cafe behind St James station but there definitely is. One of my favourite outdoor cafes has to be this one. It's busy but not all the time (avoid peak hour lunch times). Fast service, menu is fresh and bar service is sublime. Loved the coffee too and oh don't forget the nature scenery.
The food here is absolutely delicious, extremely fresh. I'd recommend the Roast Vegetable Salad. The serivce was very quick, our food came out in almost 5mins. The staff are so lovely and very friendly.
This is such a beautiful cafe to go to in the middle of summer - it's right outside St James Station in Hyde Park with a beautiful view and a wonderful, relaxed vibe that really tells you: it's the holidays! The food is pretty good and very pretty. If you're looking for a place to stick on your Instagram, come here and sit outside because it's so colourful you'll love it! The only downside is that, being a pretty cafe in the city, it tends to be a tad overpriced ($20 breakfast plate, $8 smoothie) but if that's not a problem, then come here!
We were walking for so long before the guys spotted this gem of a place. Perfect brekky.
We got Granola, Eggs Benedict, Waffles with Banana and Srawberries, Ham and Cheese Toastie, along with freshly squeezed orange juice. Probably the best breakfast I had our whole trip. Will be back for those waffles!!!!

Metro St James is located just behind the main St James train station exit, and busy in the mornings with a few people enjoying their breakfast and suits dropping in and out with their coffee orders. Metro St James actually ran a promotion earlier this year where during the month of June they encouraged people to visit the cafe and lock lips for a complimentary coffee. Maybe not at a work team breakfast though!
At 12.40pm on a Friday they closed the kitchen. That's right a Sydney CBD cafe that was closed at lunchtime. The manager was rude when questioned about it. I've eaten here before and the food isn't that amazing. I suggest you go to another restaurant or buy takeout and eat it in the park. Same view without the attitude and overpriced food.
Delicious. I had the big healthy breakfast on Saturday afternoon (breakfast ends at 3pm on weekends) and it was absolutely delicious! It wasn't a huge meal but all the little components of it filled me up quick. Beautiful view and atmosphere
I had a very good time. Food was good. Staff was very nice and attentive, all that with a smile! I think the location is great: in the middle of Hyde Park, good food, good people, good time... I'll go back!
So french. Went to Metro StJames on a sunny day. It was a beautiful spot to have a late breakie. Coffees took time to come to us while the place was reasonably busy but the food was worth the wait though. The classic Croque Madame and chicken salad were nailed. The staff, obviously french, were funny and helpful. A good stop.
