Review Zeus Street Greek Rosebery - Sydney

A very bad experience. Ordered calamari and fish and chips (kids meal) and tasted so unpleasantly fishy, we couldn’t finish them! Tried the new moussaka balls also had one bite and couldn’t finish it. It tasted very bad and nothing like moussaka. One star is for the fries and the second is for the service. Won’t be going back.

Food was surprisingly good for a fast food style outlet. The lamb was tender and tasty, pita bread was fluffy and warm and all deep fried stuff were juicy on the inside while crunchy on the outside. One thing we did not like was the Sunday surcharge but it was redeemed by a free serve of loukoumades.

Ordered via app their spit roast (that came with pita bread, tzatziki dip, lemon), Spartan bowl (chose fish, pilaf and salad as sides and tartare sauce). All were tasty. Ordered their wraps a few times and our favourite is their Apollo. The mustard mayo goes so well with the fillings.

One of the best wraps ever w haloumi and olive tapenade and fresh salad. Will be going again and trying more of the menu. Want to try more of tgeir main lamb and chicken items.Nice ambience too, very indoor/outdoor and relaxed. Kind of Greek meets casual uber healthy menu. Yum!

Good little eatery with a friendly ambience. Great place to catch up with friends or family. Good service. We had the Zeus lamb Pitta and the Camino Fish Pitta and they were good. Their hot chips are great too. Happy to go back there again.

The pita and fries were good, though not quite as flavorful as I expect Greek food to taste. I didn’t care very much for the baklava.

Friendly service and good food. Prices are a little on the expensive side for a casual dining restaurant /takeaway. There a huge outdoor seating area and they are pretty good with turning the heating on. There are a lot of heaters too so you don't have to worry about getting cold in the autumn / winter. During summer the outdoor seating area is really nice for enjoying good and the great weather.

The person taking the order was the rudest ever dos not care as the business is busy and asking about details of the order if you are new acts as if you are stupid and do t know Greek food Not as good as other Zeus branches I am sure management are trying their best to train but being rude is not acceptable
Sciclunamia
Situated in The Cannery with a huge variety of Greek food items to choose from at reasonable prices. Indoor and outdoor seating and friendly service. However the pita I had had way too much slaw and not enough chicken!😞

Great for either a quick take away meal or sit in. Simple Greek street food style pitas are the signature dish. Whilst not to the same caliber as the surrounding restaurants in the cannery, it’s nice to have a place to get a cheaper meal in the area.

Great little place to meet some friends and have a couple fresh bites with an ok price range on meals.

Enjoyed a few dishes here but a couple were a little bland.
I enjoyed the Chilli pork which was filled with pork, chimichuri, parsley apple fennel slaw, rocket & chilli tzatziki.
Being a chilli lover myself, to me it wasn’t spicy and I really thought it could use a good kick which would’ve tipped the wrap over to the next level for flavour.

The Calamari was pretty tasty with a nice light batter and good dipping sauce to match.

Unfortunately the Tzimmy lamb wrap was very bland.

For more Vlogs check out my YouTube channel - https://www.youtube.com/channel/UC8CQlEE62GLokH8jGtAEajg
For more blogs check out my Instagram -
https://www.instagram.com/cutiefoodie_au/
We got some takeaway from here and it's hard to reconcile the boxes we took home to the servings shown in the promo photos. Particularly getting just 3 felafel in the spartan box. They were certainly very tasty felafel, as was the slaw (pilaf not so much), but it seemed like many places fit just as much food in a $12 roll. Accordingly, Zeus' $12+ pita rolls are much smaller than these other places. The meat in the roll was decent, tender enough but nothing special. Zeus is in an uncomfortable position between cheap fast food - which is often as good as Zeus - and expensive Greek, which is usually much better than this.

We got the ‘Papou Niko’ pita - pork, slaw, aioli, caramelised onions and parsley $11. Also the ‘Tzimmy chicken’ pita – chicken, tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and chips $11.50. Would have been rated 5 stars if they were more generous with the fillings. Great service and ambiance for a casual feed.

For a taste of Greece (without having to fly there), look no further than Zeus Street Greek. I loved walking into the Rosebery restaurant and seeing an authentic spit roast with meats sizzling and cooking away, leaving a mouthwatering aroma in the room.

I ordered the BYO (Build Your Own) Spartan box where you choose your items to make up your meal, 140grams of meat off the spit (I chose lamb, can't have Greek food without a bit of lamb), with my two sides (aegan slaw and village green salad) and chose of dip, I chose the beetroot hummous. The meat was beautifully marinated in herbs and spices, slightly pink on the middle, and tender and juicy to bite into. The salads were fresh and tasty, the perfect accompaniment.

My dining partner ordered the 'From the Spit' meal which included 200g of flame-grilled meat (chicken) with tzatziki, lemon & pita bread. The chicken was a generous size, and was marinated and well seasoned, again, juicy inside, a chicken dinner winner.
In terms of sides, we couldn't resist ordering a side of the grilled Cypriot halloumi cheese served with lemon and oregano (excellent cheese, can't say no to grilled cheese!) and another side of pita bread.

One thing to note is that the dips that come with these meals are very small pots, I didn't know that they would be such small pots of dip which is why I ordered another side of bread. The dip is just enough to go onto perhaps 1-2 quartered slices of pita (just a warning).

I have been to Greece before, and the food here is just as good as some of the dishes I've had there. I'm looking forward to my next visit to try more dishes off their menu! And as for a chain, well, I'm glad that they have several locations in Sydney!

Note: I dined as a guest of Zeus Street Greek

We were here over the weekend. Came around 6 pm, So there were still parking near the restaurant. Located in The Cannery, it was a perfect spot for date night. The place is big with an indoor and outdoor seating. Staff were friendly and very accommodating.

We had pita breads, tzimmy pork and tzimmy chicken, feta&oregano chips, pilaf, calamari and the fried mac and haloumi balls. We didn't wait too long for our order. The chips with feta cheese was good. The cheese gives the chip a little oomph. We also had the regular chips but it needs a little seasoning that's why the loaded up chips was way better. Nothing special about the meats we have ordered and the pilaf was just ok. The haloumi and mac balls was good again the dipping sauce added another level of taste of the dish. What disappoints me the most is the size of their serving. Quite small.

I've tried a few Greek restaurants which are better than this place plus the serving size is way bigger.

Located in a hip part of town, you can be sure the food’s gunna have that aesthetic. And it does at Zeus; colourful, vibrant, lively atmosphere. The food’s actually not that expensive but if you’re looking at their variety share sets, it gets a bit a more pricey. But if you do come here, I think that’s most worth it. Taste-wise, its a bit basic but pleasant affair. Nothing special but I wouldn’t complain. The food tastes fresh, which is a must for this type of food. Breads come out hot and salads come out vibrant. Simply put, it’s a nice place, but I couldn’t see myself coming out just for this.

We ordered our meal via UberEats and it arrived cold - It wasn't their fault. Temperature aside, the flavours were all there, creating a delicious meal. You get a traditional Souva complete with chips inside the wrap. The Fetta Chips would have been great hot, but nevertheless an overall very enjoyable lunch!
Sarah
Gyros are good but overpriced for their sizes. Go down the road to Gyradiko for better value. The chips are not seasoned and just covered in salt. However the place has nice atmosphere, friendly service and the food comes quick.

Although this place is a chain and I have seen Zeus in Westfield's Sydney city; this is the best restaurant of them all. Why because of its ambience and location.
Located in Rosebery in the Cannery Building complex, Zeus offers a great indoor and outdoor space to enjoy.

I have found the waiter service friendly and efficient.

Food wise, I have no complaints. I've read the other reviews and have to disagree. Maybe, there has been a shake up in the kitchen, but there wasn't any reheated food on my plate. My Lamb was cut straight off the rotating spit to my plate.

Each time I've been to the restaurant, now totalling 3 visits, my food has been delicious and very well presented.

As you can see from my pictures, my Spartan Lamb Box was of a good size. The lamb was so tender that it melted in my mouth and the accompanying salads and dips were mouthwatering and healthy.
I love the currently served Beetroot Seasonal Salad.
The Feta Oregano chips are delicious with a generous topping of Feta Cheese.

It is worth downloading the Zeus app and paying in store with it - because every dollar spent is one point towards rewards and discounts on future dining costs.
There you have it! Quick, easy and healthy Greek Street food that is a bit expensive for Greek Street food, but that's how it rolls at Zeus!

This is a great option for lunch for the businesses in the area. I love the Chicken Pita, Been 4 times and always have the same thing. Service is quick and friendly. Food is great and ambience perfect for lunch.

I have come here a few times and every time it was been very simple to order but have had to wait a while for my food to be ready.

The fitout of the restaurant is very nice and clean and it is a part of the Sapporium complex in Rosebery.

The food is tasty and filling and it's nice to have a quick non fast food option to go to when all you want is a Gyro.
Gillydoesfood
A nice, relaxed and casual restaurant. The service was friendly and we received our food quite quickly after ordering. We ordered the Otto Chicken Pita, the Falafel Pita and Yia Yia's Chips on the side. The Chicken Pita included sweet chili sauce and caramelised onions giving it a nice touch to the flavour. The chips were very fresh, and were not oily at all. Menu prices are decent and there is a great selection to choose from.

The Zeus chain has expanded rapidly in Sydney & here it is in a funky warehouse space with very chilled service. It's upmarket street food & all are very tasty although the boys do complain it is on the small side & not enough meat in the gyros. The various meats were all tasty & I like the soft chewiness of the bread. The chips topped with fetta are delicious as is the Greek Donuts with nutella to finish the meal.

Zeus @ Rosebery has become a local hero for many who want an almost healthy option for lunch or dinner. Perfect for a sit down dinner, a quick bite or even a take away, they are quick and easy yerros to devour on the go.

Zeus have taken an old Greek classic and added a few new ingredients to suit the Australia market. We have visited Zeus over a dozen times and have tried everything on the menu. All the Pita’s are great especially the Uncle Tzimmy, Papou Niko and the Hermes. The Feta chips and the Dip Tria are a must and to end your meal try the Homemade Honey Loukoumades which are delicious.

If you’re looking for an even healthier option try the Nudes which are hot pots with 250g of the meat of your choice. Its all cut up with a sauce of your choosing and lemon. Paired with a traditional Greek salad this meal is deliciously refreshing and healthy.

The price is the only hindrance on what is otherwise a great meal. The yerros, whilst delicious, are on the small side, most people would need more than one and at $13 each they are not value for money. They are quality over quantity in this case.

Ordered through UberEATS. We got the Athenian and a chicken Uncle Tzimmy. Both were fine, but rather unimpressive. They could use some spice. It would not be my choice for dinner, but I would eat it in a pinch.

Came here on our last night in Sydney, delighted to say it was a last dinner spent well! Ordered the Lamb Uncle Tzimmy Pita, and was not disappointed. Lamb was cooked very well and Pita bread was soft and fresh; very enjoyable! Had an arrange of sides and other meals at the table with everyone leaving happy and satisfied! Very good place to visit! Wish we had something like this back in New Zealand!
Pollo_pesce_me
I had nice lunch here; ordered chilli wrap and beer. Chilli wrap was spicy enough and chicken was tender and well marinated. Well priced and food was delivered promptly. Ill come back to try more dishes next time!
Mzlanah
Ordered the "Zeus" pita and the feta and oregano chips. Safe to say that the food is pretty average and looks better than it tastes. The lamb was quite bland for what should be traditional Greek food and somewhat undercooked and fatty.
Issac_eatsalot
These loukomades are a little doughy...but the salted caramel and toffee dust were a great partnership. For 9.50 its relatively good value, would have loved a small scoop of vanilla bean icecream
Grapsta
A bit disappointed. The spartan boxes are exactly the kind of lunch I'm always looking for...but sadly the slaw was under dressed and it really needs a nice slaw to balance the whole thing. Lamb was nice. Chicken was ok but needed salt. Pilaf was quite nice. but how do you mess up slaw when everything seems to come with slaw. For the price it all just seemed not good enough....but there is potential there is they lift their game. Nice set out .

I came on a very quiet Monday afternoon for a late lunch. The place was virtually empty. I ordered the zeus lamb pita and my dining companion ordered the chicken spartan box.

Much to my surprise, the lamb was very tender and flavoursome and was served simply with some comforting roasted eggplant and aegean slaw. The herbed pita bread was warm and just the hint of herbs on the pita bread worked a charm with the lamb. I liked how simple this wrap was, yet every flavour came together smoothly.

The chicken spartan box was good too. The chicken came within a casserole, sitting on some pilaf. This is one of those meals that just leaves you feeling satisfied without compromising on your health. We liked the mixture of grains in the pilaf, everything was seasoned subtly, so it works well if you appreciate the natural flavours of food. My only comment on the pilaf would be that it was a bit dry but this was somewhat offset by the refreshing labneh which came with the dish. The accompanying Aegean slaw on its own was a little boring.

I think Zeus is reasonably priced, relatively healthy and a good lunch spot for a quick meal.

Was rather excited to give this place a go given my love for wraps, bread and anything doughy in general. Though to my disappointment there was nothing amazing, mainly average. The do they a good variety of choices and their sides are probably the best and most interesting. As for the Pitas, the overuse of slaw really took the flavour away from the main flavours, making most of the Pitas taste more or less the same. Maybe skip the Pitas and go for the Spartan Box and some sides.

Ordered takeaway from here - love the wraps from this place. I had the soft shell crab wrap ($13.50) and will be definitely coming back again - it was tasty, juicy & delicious!!! 😋

Simple good Greek street food!
Fairly pricey but very consistent
Great looking restaurant, covered patio is a great spot for lunch.
Not bad for a chain

Really bad experience at Zeus. I'd been wanting to try for a l big time and finally got to go today. We placed our orders and took our seats. We got pretty side tracked by looking up somethings online we didn't realise 15mins had passed. It wasn't until another couple who only just ordered got their food we realised something was wrong. I went to enquire and there was an issue, for some reason it didn't show up on their computer. The wait staff didn't really care but I was beside myself. And I'm sure it was her negative attitude that was making me angrier. Anyhow within moments the food arrived. A manger came out to apologise which made me a little happier.. They offered free drinks if dessert which we didn't want but she got us vouchers for a free wrap next time.
The food was bland, needed salt. Chicken was all brien meat and fat. Lamb was nice but again needed salt. Aegean salad was like very, calamari oily..
Anyhow I thank the manager for trying to fix the issue anyhow..
Tess Michaels
Was looking forward to eating their food. Ordered takeaway. Arrived cold, tiny weeny portions, not worth what we were charged for it, flavour wise, nothing that special. Overall Assessment - God awful.

A cool modern looking takeaway restaurant serving greek street food. This place is part of a converted warehouse at the centre of the Rosebery food precinct that has come on pretty quickly. The service here is a bit hit and miss. The food is tasty, although a little pricey for what you get. The gyros are yum, but pretty small for the price. We usually order the meat and salad. The meat here is always tender, juicy and well seasoned. We also like the beetroot salad with walnuts and fetta.
It is a chain restaurant and does have that feel about it. Probably better to take away.

For a quick lunch after uni, we took a trip to Rosebery in search of some yeeros or Greek Kebabs, and found ourselves at Zeus! We decided to order the Uncle Tzimmy’s pita, with lamb, tomato, tzatziki, onion, paprika and chips, wrapped in a fluffy pita bread. The highlight of all of Zeus’ yeeros is the pita – it’s so soft and fluffy, and slightly thicker than usual wrap bread, but so delicious! The filling was also well seasoned with the paprika, and the chips added a great touch.
Alan King Bowden
Very nice gyros, but a little on the small and pricey side. I had the traditional lamb, and I must admit I was a little disappointed it wasn't rotisserie gyro meat, nor was it very filling. Nonetheless, the quality is superb and I wouldn't complain if someone got me another one!
Ben 001
Overall ok. Food was not bad but expensive and very small serves. Good location, easy parking and relaxed atmosphere.
Philippe Doyle Gray
Overpriced Greek street food, small portions, but with quality ingredients and an elegant fit out. Not quite good enough to be high end, but too refined to be low end. Confusing.
Kate
Fresh and delicious! I had the chicken, corn cobs & the haloumi. All were amazing! Probably a bit overpriced, as the cost for just one person adds up quite a bit. Well prepared food with delicious flavors. The home delivery was very speedy.

Enjoyed the greek food here, went on a friday night , it was quite busy waited 15minutes so that was fine. The food came out nice and quick, had the nude chicken this was seasoned and cooked nicely and was tasty, Love their fetta chips!!!

I wanted to love Zeus after seeing it was joining us in Rosebery, and visually it cast excitement. Since opening, I have visited on several occasions including takeaway and unfortunately I can't say that I am in any way impressed Its a nice place to sit and eat, and the timber deck makes way for some casual summer evenings, but the food is only average. Service has also been slow, even on the quieter nights.

The uncle Tzimmy Lamb is not overly tender, flavour complex or anything out of the ordinary. Its also hard to justify $12.50 for a few chunks of beetroot, whilst also calling it a salad. The Saganaki salad suffers the same destiny. Twelve odd dolllars for some cos unmanageable with a fork, alongside some chickpeas dressed in tahini. The Stavros (halloumi) probably the best offering here, but again, no better than what can be found elsewhere.
If you have a basic flavour palate or you think you're too good for the normal souvlaki joints, this place is probably for you.
A Food Fable
Quite enjoyed the Spartan Chicken wrap. I don't usually have Greek food so this was nice and refreshing. Delicious and hot, and at a reasonable price too I think. Definitely filling. We also had the chips and calamari to share, but I wouldn't recommend them. Pretty ordinary and you'll be full enough from the wraps. The paper that the chips and calamari sits in also felt unnecessary and a waste of paper.

Only thing is that they really need a better drinks menu - everything is just bottled stuff. They are friendly though and allow you to bring over a takeaway coffee from next door.
Naomi Rheinberger
I I've been dying to come here for a while now and decided today was the day to make the journey. Service was super friendly and I love being able to see the meat being cooked in the kitchen. The fit out of zeus is fab as well!

The food was average, nothing to rave about as nothing was really a...

After reading a couple of reviews wal kind of expecting a packed place with lousy service but lucky for us it was kind of empty (only 4 tables were occupied) and the guys at the counter and tables were very frindly. The food was lovely... Is fast food but I fwlt it was done with care so I really liked it.
Adam
Love the concept of this place. Similar to the idea behind crust pizza. Fast food that's not really fast fast food? Any way a good fix when you need it...

Chips with feta is the best creation by the Greek Gods! Haha the pita and chicken is a must when dining here at Zeus Street Greek, don't really recommend the pork though and I found the lamb was a bit dry.

But their tzatziki is THE best!!! Always a good feed here!
G
The food is simple and tasty. The meats are freshly grilled and well seasoned. A little on the oily side. The gyros are a fantastic quick hunger fix. Service isn't too bad and the space has a good environment. Better for lunch than dinner.
Fat Pug
Zeus Street Greek is pretty satisfying. The tzatziki is delicious as is the feta dip. The calamari was super delicious too. I also enjoyed my haloumi pita but will opt for a meaty one next time as they looked so good! My friends had lamb and chicken pitas and all enjoyed them. We had the lukamades at the end, both the chocolate and plain ones, and they were pretty average. I will go back to Zeus for a quick pita, but the food is quite heavy and it's definitely very casual dining.
Laura B
We had a below average experience at Zeus. The interior design is inviting and well thought out but unfortunately the experience doesn't live up to the design. It looks like it should be a full on restaurant but orders have to be placed at the counter. It's also self service for water and condiments. I went to place our order and was told to return to the table and find my table number. It turned out the staff forgot to put our number out so I returned to try to order again. The entrees came out relatively quickly. I was disappointed that there was nothing to dip into the dip so had to return to the counter and queue for another ten minutes to order some pitta. It would've been helpful for the server to mention that pitta wasn't included when I originally ordered the tarama. By the time we'd returned to the table the mains had arrived. The food was mediocre at best. The staff forgot to bring out the pitta but once we asked for it they served it relatively quickly. Tables were left uncleared and rubbish blew around the restaurant. Staff just stepped over the rubbish when they finally went to clear the tables. Really disappointing in general as it has the potential to be lovely.
Princess_Porky
I've been to Drummoyne before and whilst I think their gyros are excessively small, there's no disputing the taste. It's yummy. Same applies to Rosebery. Tasty but so so small. We also got a nude chicken souvla with tzatziki and lemon. How disappointing. It was so excessively salty. My partner could barely eat it and even a salt lover like me struggled. Attempted to give feedback but the wait staff just smiled. Either he didn't care or didn't understand. Pity. Was hoping to find a good gyro place near home.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
Hellenic street food in a sleek modern restaurant, that’s the premise of Zeus, the second joint in the Sydney empire. Like their god, the food is lightning fast, and there seems to be a staff member for every guest on this busy Sunday. While their ‘paleo lunchbox’ is popular, we go down the traditional path and go gunning for gyros, the signature Uncle Tzimmy ($10.50) with chicken and chips wrapped up in fresh pita hits the target
Lachlan Stott
Very tasty food, fairly prompt service. The prices are good but the sizes are a bit small, so expect to order one more side than you normally do.

Amazing food but can get very busy. Online ordering option is fantastic!

Zeus has definitely nailed the upscale family meal segment of the souvlaki market. The Rosebery store is hidden behind awnings & trees & a bit hard to spot, so follow the sound of cheerful voices. It's a welcoming & attractive space with some inside & most outside covered tables.

Tried the Uncle Tzimmy Classic Pork pita & really liked it! The pork was soft & tender, the tzatziki didn't run everywhere & I love the chips in it like they do in Greece. The pita bread is toasted & fluffy & much easier to eat than some of the dense leather-like pita at other places. The Spartan Chicken pita with coleslaw was nice but a bit bland, I think the pork/lamb/chicken classics are where to start.

It's not a cheap eat - good quality, but keep an eye on the value. The pitas are small & almost dainty which is good for a small appetite, or if you want to have them as part of a meal (or, leave room for loukoumades for dessert!).

But if you're an average eater and just planning on eating pitas, budget for buying two. The salad servings are also small, & $19.50 is way too much for pita & dips. But there's enough variety of salads & sides to put together an interesting meal if there's a few of you. There's self-serve water & condiments ranging from Greek salt to Sriracha.

I came early on Friday evening & it was full of young families, it's a great place to bring toddlers. It's noisy anyway, there are high chairs, paper & crayons (& a big clean Ladies room). By 6pm all tables were full, so it's going to be popular. Get here early or come off-peak, they're open all afternoon.

The branding & copywriting edges towards Greek kitsch, but the food & service is good so they can get away with it. They say they're friendly, and the staff all certainly were pleasant & obliging. They do home deliveries in the area, which I imagine would be useful though you'd need to pick dishes that travelled well. If you live nearby you should call in & eat here at least once.

I've enjoyed many souvlaki pita on holiday in Athens & wondered when they'd take off in Sydney, & I'm happy that at last their time has come. I'll definitely come back to Zeus.
