In Short: Dining at Kitchen by Jamie can likened to going over to a mate’s house, a mate that can cook and serve memorable takes on the classics sublimely. Honest, delicious, well seasoned food with a side of generosity would sum up the experience we had. It’s hard to go past the Chef’s Home Made Pie or drop in for Fish and Chips.
Classic British cuisine is not one that you find thrown into the mix in the Sydney food scene all that often beyond our gastropubs – which is somewhat surprising given our city’s colonial heritage. So we were pleasantly surprised to find it front and centre on the menu when we visited Kitchen by Jamie, a casual restaurant on a quiet suburban strip in Maroubra that was recently visited by British celebrity chef Rick Stein who sounds like he was searching for some decent British fare in Sydney when he was last here. Owner chef Jamie Dyball is also from the United Kingdom and celebrates this through his cooking, using quality ingredients to showcase contemporary renditions of British classics like his popular Sunday Roast. There’s also some hints of French influence on the menu, like the deliciously indulgent Duck Pate with red onion relish and homemade brioche that we started off our dinner with.
From me, the highest recommendation to scoot on out to Maroubra Junction and dine at Kitchen by Jamie. I like food with a story, and I’m charmed by this one, as years ago, Jamie and Daniela invited me (and some friends) over to their place for the concept ‘Dine with…’, a sort of dinner party with a professional chef. It combined wonderful food that you couldn’t make yourself with the comfortable feeling of home.

If you’re on the hunt for a traditional Sunday roast in Sydney, then look no further than Kitchen by Jamie in Maroubra. Passionate about bringing great English food to Australia, chef Jamie Dyball brings the best of the UK to Sydney’s food scene in this fresh and vibrant café in the Eastern Suburbs.
My neighbours had dinner for the first time tonight and really loved your restaurant the food was delicious and staff so friendly she and her husband wish to return and bring my family too
Lovely to have a quality restaurant in Maroubra area she has asked me to to send this review
It's good to see the talented Chef Jamie Dyball has opened his own restaurant which is a plus for the Maroubra locals. I first experienced Jamie's food when he invited me to his home as part of Eat With. He then popped up at Alfred Hotel before Kitchen by Jamie. This was a quick visit to check out the venue and have some dessert with the kids after I spotted he was doing Apple Tarte Tatin ($12). Nice flavours with a cognac whipped cream which time was against me as it melted fast. The kids had Fudge Ice Cream with toffee sauce ($4). Miss 3 year old loved it but Miss 6 year old had her heart set on something less fancy like vanilla ice cream with sprinkles. The Chef's Sunday Roast is the one to look out for with all the trimmings including a rocky road brownie dessert for $29. I also spy all burgers for Friday lunch are $12 with fries.

Had the fish pie and salmon with salad.
The quality of the ingredients used was great - everything was obviously prepared fresh.
The portion sizes were also quite generous.
We left feeling very satisfied and satiated.
Clean and simple food.
Would definitely recommend.
We ordered the chicken burger and chefs burger for takeaway and they were delicious!
We ate here for lunch about 2 weeks ago and the food was amazing! We had the chicken pie and the chefs burger!

Nice quality food. Really enjoyed the fish tacos. Pork belly and chips we’re awesome. Well priced local restaurant.
Went to Kitchen by Jamie on the weekend. This restaurant has a very warm and welcoming ambience. Daniella was a great hostess and provided great service. The Sunday roast was excellent and tasted just like a home cooked quality meal using the best ingredients. If you are looking for a warm, quiet, home style restaurant then definitely visit Kitchen by Jamie.
Went for the roast on Sunday, it was so good I’ve been back twice within a week and like the roast, the fish & chips and chefs beef burger were also 10/10 dishes. Would definitely recommend and will become a regular customer. Food this good is long overdue in Maroubra.
Excellent eating experience in eastern suburbs, from walking in the door and being greeted by lovely Daniela meals were so tasty. I loved their duck pate - best ever had! We also tried osso buco and the beef pie, both were of excellent taste. All the dishes were home made and delicious.
Overall I'd definitely recommend this restaurant. We had a great night out without totally breaking the bank ))))
Thank you Daniela and Jamie we will be back !
