There’s something very charming about the Organic Bread Bar. To sit and have a coffee just outside the bakery, with a view of delicious baked goods, in leafy Paddington, is a charming experience. Even though it’s on South Dowling Street, it somehow manages to feel tucked away in a quiet part.
Best bakery for pretzels and delicious bread! A local favourite.
If you like good bread and cakes you should definitively give a try to this bakery.
They have a large range of bread, baked there and fresh. I bought a big loaf, which was just so hot that I couldn’t take it in my hands. But it was so good to have fresh bread like that. The place is a bit small but to take away breads and cake it is just perfect. I gave a try to their crème brulee donut, which was good, but I would not say it really taste like creme brulee, more vanilla/ caramel. But their carrot cake muffin was just perfect. Looking forward to go back there.
I'm here almost every weekend grabbing one of their delicious coffees and amazing breads. Can get really busy at times and with usually only one person on the register and also preparing the customers food, it can get frustrating.
The cafe where time stands still!
Honestly the staff here are sooooooo slow!
It's actually painful to watch them work. I live in a complex just around the corner, it was a common occurrence for me to bump into people from my complex at this cafe but not anymore. Its now a running joke about how slow they are, to the point where it's actually quicker to walk to a cafe further away and get served quicker.
Now I don't expect the staff to break their backs to serve everyone as quick as possible but they should at least have a sense of urgency about what they are doing. It literally took the woman on the till 3 minutes today to cut a sandwich in half this morning (3rd Jan 2016), in that time I counted four people who either went to walk into the store before walking out or who left the queue and just gave up. The staff in the front don't even break a sweat, regardless if there is one person waiting or ten they operate at the same speed. It's a shame as you can see the bakers in the back working hard to meet demand.
The bread from here is really good, I'd probably say the best in the area. The coffee is good too but I'm not sure it's worth the 10 minute wait once you've ordered.
Honestly if they improve the ordering process they would be a 5 star venue, but they have a lot of work to do.
The secret of good bread he says is not only technique but also the quality and taste of the flour used. He buys nutty tasting organic flour. When he has a chance to have a day off he will start to think about sparking up the wood fired oven. This will be one of the first true woodfired bakeries in Sydney.
Just love OBB. Terrific coffee, gorgeous Florentines, lemon tarts, chocolate croissants etc, lovely staff and sensational bread.
I am completely addicted to the pretzels from here. Unbelievably delicious. Staff are always nice and friendly. Breads and sweets also really good. My favourite Sydney bakery.
Bready goodness!. I'm a big fan of this cafe, it's great place for a quick bite with friends. I never leave without a fresh slice of the tomato and olive focaccia - with the sea salt and capers sprinkled generously on top, it's a winner! The afghan biscuits and spelt scones are good too. 15 bucks will buy you a chunk of focaccia, a warm drink and a selection of baked treats! The decor is cute and quirky, but there isn't much seating space. I'm so-so about their coffee - they were using a strangely bitter grind last time I went.
Simon Food Favourites review. Had a very yummy freshly baked Chocolate Croissant which was called a Chocolatine ($3.50). Nice pastry and chocolate inside.

Simon Food Favourites review. Spotted Organic Bread Bar while on the way to The Local Taphouse across the road. Looked like a good range of breads on offer. Some seating available inside to dine in. Bought a Spelt Scone ($3.50) which was slightly sticky to the touch, full of fruit flavours and moist. Was quite nice but might try their carrot cake I spotted for next time.
Love this place, it's a weekend staple. Great coffee, amazing bread, and the bacon sandwich is a secret-weapon: crispy, light, and salty. A bite propels a puff of rosemary-scented air into your mouth, before the perfect poached egg dribbles down your chin. Yum!
One of the very few places that excite me when I think of visiting. Amazing choices to choose from: my favorite being a pretzel or pretzel croissant. But honestly I could keep adding to this list. Every visit I try something new and I’m never disappointed. Lovely staff and owner. Quality and customer service is excellent. Keep up with being that wonderful bakery that attracts so many people daily.
This place with an open kitchen makes one of the best German style breads in Sydney. Dense but soft bread with rye, multi grain and so on, Baguettes, rolls and other breads freshly baked and warm to the touch. They also have tons of pastries, sandwiches and so on. It’s a bit pricey but the bread is fabulous. The cinnamon roll is amazing and the loved their muesli cookies.
Would come here any day for their dense breads alone :-) having lived in Germany for many years enjoying good dense bread, this place is a rare find in Sydney. Loved it :-)
Their hot cross buns have become a tradition for my family. Best in Sydney imo and the coffee is also outstanding
Always incredible! Food and coffee are always insanely good! You must go! Try lots! Everything is amazing! We always get a sourdough, brioche buns, and croissants! 10/10 will never come to Sydney without going to Organic bread bar!
This place has been a favourite for years.
The most delicious bread, cakes and sandwiches.
Top picks are their Spelt Loaf and the Fruit Loaf, your initial thoughts may be that the Fruit Loaf is expensive, then you cut it and see what’s inside, then you taste it and realise that it is an absolute bargain, you know straight away that you’ll be back for more and more, it’s only available at the weekend so order in advance, I do.
Super friendly and lovely! Always a joy to pop over and grab a coffee or a pretzel. Great to grab takeaway from or order a baked delight in advance, do recommend
My new go-to bakery. There are a lot of bakeries around here but I know I can just pull up and get some great quality baked goods any time.
I found this Bakery shop while passing by. They have a huge varieties and options to try. I found Focaccia Scroll and it was so delicious. Full of herbs, olives and fetta. Looking forward to try other options as well.
