Had a hen's afternoon tea here yesterday for 12 people, everything went well! Booked a week in advance. QVB is beautiful, service was prompt and friendly. Compliments from the bridal party!
Bought the two people high tea voucher on Groupon for $59 and went there on Saturday morning
After reading many bad reviews about the lady owner and being 30min late for our reservation, I was kind of worried that they might cancel my reservation. Luckily everything was great.
We had cappuccino and French earl grey. We had chicken, ham and salmon sandwiches and some sweet. They were all good. Service was also fine.
Came here on Groupon voucher without booking and they still accommodated me. Had the prawn spaghettini and red wine and was delicious. Great food, service and ambience.
Opted their Sweet high tea set. There was no savoury item, only dessert. I quite liked their Apple tartlette mousse dome and Dark chocolate ganache tart with pistachio. Both filling was smooth and not too sweet. The Opera cake was also perfect. The cake layers were light & fluffy with nice coffee taste. 🙂 However, the macarons were too sweet and the Oreo cheesecake was bland. The scones were bad as well. They were cold & dry, luckily the blueberry jam saved it.
Good atmosphere and great service. That’s why I still give them 4/5 after all the negative comments. 😌
Everything was nice except for the boss-owner-lady!!Â
Had a groupon reservation for high tea and it was very much worth it – the sandwiches were tasty and ample variety was on offer – from pastrami to salmon & cream cheese to roast beef. Desserts were equally enticing – the opera cake was a true standout with flavours and layers executed to perfection. The high tea came with a decent champagne and a selection of teas which were great.
Location-wise, it doesn’t get any better at the top of QVB! The young waitresses, too, were fantastic - super friendly, attentive and welcoming. Probably to compensate for the owner who was shockingly rude, I dislike making judgments on people for having the problems they may face in their lives but this lady rather takes it out on the customers in a very inhospitable, rude and cold fashion. She would not even say hi. Other than that it was a great high tea!
How can anyone enter this grand old building (QVB) without calling into Cicchetti's ? The high tea is well worth the money as it is served with great flair & attention to detail. Sitting there sipping on a sparkling or two with all those beautiful sweet delights, gazing at those amazing windows & elegant surrounds. What better way to experience all the delights of Sydney & drink in that atmosphere, just a great experince & thanks to the beautiful staff.
I love the QVB. Such a grand old building and Cicchetti takes advantage of the high ceiling view and is located around the Great Australian Clock. I noticed they have a breakfast, lunch and dinner menu but they seem to focus and promote their high tea menu and cakes on display. Hot chocolate ($5) was a little pricey but it's very large in size and pretty chocolatey. Opera cake ($8) is quite nice with a richly flavoured top layer of very dark looking chocolate that sticks to your spoon as you eat it. Young service lady was friendly, polite and welcoming. The colourful desserts on display are bought in and look quite rich and decadent. There's no descriptions or prices in view which would be helpful to know.
For a special treat I brought my sister here for a high tea ($35pp). We were both really pleasantly surprised by the experience!
We were greeted and seated promptly, even though we came in before our booked time. They were very accommodating and gladly swapped champagne for sparkling water at our request. The high tea tier presented beautifully and each offering was tasty and extremely well made. After we managed to finish most of that, we were given fresh scones and cream, and then offered tea or coffee.
The experience was really enjoyable and not at all overly fussy or pretentious.
I would definitely come back to try this again, or have the Devonshire tea ($18pp) as well.
excellent service food value lovely location - high tea was super value for money - being a well travelled person i can honestly say this place meets the value for your tummy - for just 65$/2 people scones are fresly made daily - jam and all -sandwiches typical of what a high tea should consist of and better then zumbo desserts - not too sweet. served with champagne and your choice of tea on hand what more could anyone ask for- as sydney is becoming more expansive is 2nd most expansive to live in the world- its brilliant -ive had high tea in singapore that don't offer as much for this quality and value- french champagne i may add- also staff were very sweet and kind.Im a typical food snob and I'm not ashamed to say what i like and don't like :)
We just had scones at the top level of QVB and there were absolutely beautiful, so fresh and the texture so perfect. They have a special price for scones with tea or coffee. So good!!
I was looking for a quiet place to do my paper work in a weekday, then I found this cute and relaxed place, the waitress was welcoming, she asked me to sit inside in those comfy chairs, I asked for a cap of tea to start with, and I received a pretty cup of tea, I asked then for a light meal which was a salad very balanced. I spent there like three hours after two pots of tea a meal and a delicious dessert. I highly recommend that place to work serenely.
A beautiful spot for high tea! A group of us booked high tea for mothers day and it was so delightful - the fresh scones, pastries and sandwiches were all fresh, refined and delicious.Â
The staff were lovely and attentive, combined with the beautiful setting and surrounds made our experience just divine.
Everything about our experience was fantastic. We enjoyed a beautiful lunch, the space is elegant and everything about the atmosphere, food and service was truly wonderful.
Fantastic Easter Sunday Meal!. Thank you so much for making our Easter Sunday an enjoyable one, with 3 kids in tow.
Even though there wasn't a Kids Menu, the Waiter/ Maitre'd went out of his way to get the kitchen to cook 3 kids sized meals of Spaghetti Bolognese/ Calamari & Chips to accomodate our 3 fussy kids and they ate every last bit.
Will highly recommend you guys to any future Byron Bay travellers.
Food A+++
