In Redfern you’ll find the cutest family owned cafe ever! It’s has such a cozy environment and the atmosphere here is super welcoming! The menu here has both breakfast and lunch items (sweet & Savoury) as well as some amazing drinks! (Like you cannot go past the lotus shake!!!) Lets start off with their chicken Alfredo! This pasta dish is super creamy and flavourful! The bacon and chicken are cooked and seasoned to perfection and the creamy sauce is heavenly 😍 there’s honestly no fault in this dish! Next up is their burger! This is pretty Insane... a charcoal bun filled with juicy beef, pickles and sauce alongside a syringe of American cheese!! 🧀 this burger is packed with flavour and the chips on the side are fried to the perfect crisp! 🍟 the lamb shakshuka was my personal favourite! The beautiful tomato base with tender flavourful lamb and poached egg 🍳 was the most amazing combo ever!! It was served with some pita bread and this was the perfect touch! The shakshuka was seasoned really well and each bite was just a burst of flavour!! Lastly is the matcha hot cakes!! Now if you’re a fan of matcha, you’re going to love this! The hotcake itself was fluffy but crisp on the outside! It had beautiful texture and the addition of the Marscapone cheese with the strong yet sweet matcha was amazing!!

First day back to brunch after covid, try their black pasta with two style of cooking one with the Thai and spicy seafood and The other one with prawn, fish roe and Parmesan on top.
All of their pasta dishes are amazing .
The dessert I order the matcha hot cakes and ricotta one.
The matcha I barely can taste the matcha but the ricotta is good.
The fish and chips is okay.

Order:
1. Gibbons Street Hotcakes
2. Squid and Chorizo Linguini
3. Prawns and Squid Ink Spaghetti
4. Iced Honey Matcha

Ambience of cafe is very comfortable. The cafe is located close to the station and was fairly empty for a Thursday afternoon. Service was lovely and quick.

The hotcakes were delicious. We opted for the normal ones, although they did have a Festive Season option. The Hotcakes remained quite warm even after some time and absorbed the syrup well.

The linguini was fresh and well seasoned. It contained an ample amount of toppings and was moderately spiced. Similarly, the squid ink pasta was rich and went well with its toppings. Although I would reccomend sharing this dish as it was quite rich to continue eating overtime.

The Honey Matcha was quite pleasing for someone who doesnt enjoy matcha. The taste isn't as strong as other matcha drinks, and instead you can taste the honey more. This made for a lovely combination.

Overall, would definitely reccomend this cafe if you are looking for something pleasant in the area.

Gibbons Street Cafe is a short walk from Redfern station and most of its customers are university students. I like the simple decorations and relaxing vibes here. The highlights of the meals are prawn and squid ink spaghetti & linguine one with prawns, calamari and scallops. Italian cuisines fusion with Thai cooking = explosion of flavour. Though pricing is expensive, I’m
willing to pay for good food, especially with fresh seafood.

The pull pork burger is soggy and mediocre tbh. Drinks are good.

Located across the street from the Redfern train station, you will find this gem - surprisingly modern, unsurprisingly delicious coffee, and inventive dishes made for the gram but also tasty too.

I am deeply in love with their pasta. Although it looked normal, it tasted great! I love the way they treat garlic, despite of the breath after eating (is a problem for dating people) lol. For a small group of friends, that is totally suitable and worth a try.

A cafe near Redfern station
We went there on a sunny day, at noon. We didn’t wait to be seated but the cafe is indeed popular because many of the tables are reserved.

[Thai Pork Salad]🥗
A mixture of Thai dish and salad. Pork was cut in slices and cooked in Thai style. The salad contains apple slices and is a bit sour but fresh.

My friends ordered burgers. It was served with fries. They were quite satisfied with it.

Not many eateries serve sinful fish and chips at 7.30 in the morning, but Gibbons St Cafe is one of those eateries.

The fish and chips were generously portioned, with two decent pieces of beautifully battered fish and a mound of crunchy chips and salad. We would have preferred a larger plate for the portion size as the bowl was too small, with the fish sitting atop the chips rendering them soft after a while. But a good plate of food none the less.

The Christmas special of Nutella hotcakes were even more sinful, with two large hotcakes festooned with mini cookies of Santa and gingerbread man, and accompanied by not one, but two sauces (chocolate and custard). Dotted around the hotcakes were various fruits to counter the sugar rush, as well as the 2018 de riguer edible flowers that provide colour to the plate. I found the hotcakes a little stodgy, but my partner absolutely loved them. He even dipped my chips into his hotcakes' chocolate sauce and custard ....

Overall, Gibbons St Cafe is a great little suburban cafe that deserves consideration if you're in the area. It is close to Redfern station and serves well-priced dishes that look and taste good.

Photos of their aesthetically pleasing items went viral since ages ago so I really wanted to know what their food is like. My friend and I ordered their corn fritters and pancakes and they were pretty good. The corn fritters were crispy, full of sweet corn and it tasted better with runny egg yolk. The pancake was fluffy, soft and nicely garnished with fruits and flowers but it would be better if some syrup were given. Overall a great cafe that serves good food with a relaxing vibe to chill out.

Came here on Saturday morning and the cafe wasn’t busy
There is a signed outside said seriously good coffee but..well.. I ordered salted caramel latte and it’s awful.. I think that’s the worst salted caramel latte I have ever had..
I was thinking of giving the cafe a 3 star rating but when I got the bill, I found the price was really affordable comparing with other cafes in Sydney. So I decided to give it 4 stars.
We ordered the big breakfast and added 2 hush browns. It’s only $2 for one hush brown. Many cafes charge you $4 for every extra. Everything was good in the big breakfast. I love the beans. Also we ordered mango and passion fruit whip. The portion was large. I asked for extra bowl of granola since the mango mousse was too rich for me. The staff was very kind and accommodated my need. The extra granola only costed me $3.
The service was good here. Friendly and nice staff.

Actual rating: 4.5/5

Located just outside the station, we went for lunch here on a weekend and got a table immediately. We ordered the prawn and squid ink pasta, corn fritters, hot cakes, iced honey matcha and iced latte.

Food was absolutely delicious, my only fault would be that there was a bit too much oil in the pasta but flavour wise was spot on.

Service could be improved by taking away empty plates a bit more promptly (they were not busy).

Menu was also expensive.

However, I still highly recommend this cafe.

Cloud Bowl : 😍 Amazing
Hot cakes : 😁 Great
Squid Ink Spaghetti : 😁 Great
Salted Caramel Latte : 😊 Good
Ice Mocha : 😁 Great

Great cafe with a great atmosphere and good service. Ice Mocha was fragrant and sweet (not overly sweet). Loved the refreshing taste of the cloud bowl and the cute little decorations were just adorable. The hot cakes were perfectly fluffy and warm. Squid Ink Spaghetti was also delicious but the garlic was a little on the strong side. Overall a great experience.

Busy corner cafe with rushed but prompt service. The food was delicious with nice coffee too. The Cloud Bowl was refreshing and the hot cakes were nice and fluffy, although a little dry. The salted caramel latte and mocha was okay, not too much coffee flavour, but too overly sweet.

It was quiet and close to the station.

The Berry Crumble was the limted edition it was really nice and light.

The Hotcakes is fluffy and moist but it needed more whipped cream or a scoop of ice cream because it does feel tiring to eat.

The matcha and salak float was pretty cute. Taste for matcha you need to adjust your sweetness because we got it bitter but for salak it was sweet so you dont need to adjust.

Service is great.

4.5/5. Friendly service, nice & cozy atmosphere. The squid & chorizo linguini was amazing. It honestly exceeded my expectations. A unique dish that makes you think of an Asian-style stir-fry whilst hinting at an Italian influence. Definitely something I’d like to go back for!

Ordered two meals today at Gibbons Street Cafe. Had a very enjoyable time here with Meghali Bandhara. The staff were nice, food was very tasty.

It’s a cute cafe, near Redfern station, easily accessible location. Atmosphere would be better if it was more quiet, pricing average.
Good food, good tea. Would go again!

The smashed avo with poached eggs on rye toast with a touch of feta cheese and a slice of lemon was simple but tasty and healthy.
I really enjoyed the granola muesli topped with mango passionfruit whip with fresh fruit. It would have to be the best granola I’ve had in some time. Also beautifully presented with edible flowers. You must try this one.
The squid and chorizo linguini was bursting with flavors. The grilled chorizo and squid pieces tossed with mushrooms, cherry tomatoes, basil, chili, garlic and olive oil. I was disappointed when the bowl was empty!!

came to this place because i saw the yummy pasta posted all over instagram, and I came here mainly to try that out. Needless to say, the squid ink pasta did not disappoint at all. It was probably the best out ive ever tried. The garlic prawns were seasoned perfectly and the pasta was just amazing. Really need to try this out. The other dish in the picture was the corn fritters, and it was pretty good as well. It came with salad and haloumi fries.

Gibbons Street Cafe is right across Redfern station. So if you’re a Usyd Business school student or if your commute involves a stop at Redfern station, you should check out this restaurant.

***
Location:
You just have to cross the road from Redfern station exit and walk a couple of steps. Despite its proximity to the station, it’s never packed so it’s a great way ease into your day.

Food:
Their Gibbons Street Hotcakes does not only look good, but it tastes soooo good. It takes about 20 minutes for them to prepare, but it’s worth it! I just noticed that the serving’s smaller compared to last year :(

Service:
Great service. Always happy to be in Gibbons because I’m greeted hello & goodbye with a smile.

Being foodblogger means i need to find some interesting material to be written on my blog, and i could say Sydney is food paradise for instagram freak like me. Plenty cute cafe with instagram material food. One of these is this cafe which located in Redfern. Firstly seen it on my instagram feed, actually i was tempted by their Easter special menu. But unfortunately it only available 4 days only. Since i was going to try some restos today, so i just ordered light breakfast. Mango smoothies bowl and chai latte. Mango smoothies was good, it more like mousse than a smoothie, liked the crunchy granola as well. Chai latte consistency was good, could taste the spice masala and not too milky.

Gibbon Street Cafe is a new cafe in Redfern that serves a range of brunch dishes in a open and spacious environment. I have been meaning to check this place out having heard good things about it so came for brunch on a weekend. We ordered two dishes to share and could not resist ordering their Easter specials. The first dish we tried was their “Waffle on – About Easter” Belgian style waffles served with home made dark chocolate sauce, raspberry coulis, shredded coconut, egg yolk nest, easter eggs and fresh fruit. I liked this dish, the presentation was beautiful and the fresh fruit added a nice tartness that balance out the rich chocolate sauce however I thought the waffles were a bit dry.

In Short: Gibbons Street Café provides a café experience that is refined, yet relaxed. A beautiful fit-out is only exceeded by the stunning-looking dishes that leave the pass. Bangkok Brekkie Eggs is a cute, yet spicy, deviation on the traditional fry-up and definitely worth a try.

Gibbons Street Café commands a premium location just a stone’s throw away from Redfern station. As the gentrification of Redfern continues unabated, it was a only a matter of time before chic new cafes, like Gibbons, popped up. It’s on trend as well, as Sydneysiders like us cannot get enough of Asian fusion café fare that  was pioneered by the likes of Boon Cafe, and have been championed of late by the likes of Meet Mica.

The award for one of the most insta-worthy brunch places in Sydney has gotta go to this place. Once your food comes out you’re sure to be standing on your chair to get a better shot of your plate - of course while your partner looks away sheepishly and waits for it all to end. I had the avocado toast with which can easily made vegan if you remove the feta. The portion sizes were generous too. It’s also a really spacious, modern fitout so you don’t feel like you’re being sprinkled with the cracked pepper of the person next to you. Would go again. Many times.

Friendly service
Food presentation was spot on
Price range was reasonable with a good range of breakfast and brunch to choose from.
I ordered the Gibbons Hotcakes which had good flavour and was filling but the texture got a little bit soggy towards the middle of the hotcakes.
Otherwise, good effort and still worth the price!
Would definitely recommend this place and would love to come back.

I went there last weekend. It is located near Redfern station, just a few mins walk away.

I ordered the honeycomb pancakes and it is uber cute but for the taste I'd give 6. The pancakes are very fluffy but it is a bit too sweet for my liking.

And I actually liked what my friend ordered, she got the spicy squid and chorizo linguine. It wasn't that spicy imo.

Came for a second time and had some awesome food from the Easter menu - we loved the passion fruit and mango whip with watermelon and granola and fruits. We also had the caramel chick shake in an Easter egg and the beautiful signature hot cakes.

A lovely little cafe that would be an instagrammers dream with colour changing drinks, matcha lattes and fluffy pancakes with honeycomb. I like the decor and styling of this cafe, bright and open and welcoming. Close to Redfern station, and easy enough to find a park. I had a lavender soda which was nice and refreshing, and my friend had a latte. For a meal, I had the vegan meal with kale, beetroot hummus and falafel. Whilst this was nice and healthy it lacked flavour. My friend had the cheeseburger and chips which was a nice meal, a brioche type bun with salad and cheese. I’d be keen to try pancakes there as they looked good.

This place is a gem and located conveniently just opposite Redfern station. The food here is so tasty, even though the portions are small. But the price for the amount you get is reasonable. [invite] Bianca: Another day, another set of pancakes. We’re going hardcore and making no apologies! The latest on our hit-list is the new Redfern cafe, Gibbons Street Cafe. I’ve worked in the Redfern area for almost 10 years now and it’s great to see the suburb really lifting the game in terms of recent openings. Cafe stalwart Three Williams pretty much has the monopoly in the area. But with Gibbons Street Cafe’s premium location just opposite Redfern station, that may change.

Conveniently located opposite from Redfern station, this new cafe is one to look out for!

I got the squid and chorizo linguine (mildly spicy) and I highly recommend it. Unlike most cafes, they were really generous with the amount of chorizo and squid in the pasta, which is a huge plus from me!

Aesthetically pleasing interior design, super nice staff, delicious food. Definitely no complaints from me.

Final verdict: Belly satisfied! Would I come again? 100% (I've actually already been back.)

This cafe is newly opened, so I decided to visit just befofe lunch hour to try the 'Gibbon St Hotcakes'! They were soso pricey ($18) and I questioned whether it was worth but as soon as the hotcakes were placed on the table, any uncertainty melted away. They were extremely pretty and instagram-worthy and the first few bites were the best! The pancakes were fluffy and the perfect texture, however I recommend sharing this plate as it did get very sweet after you're halfway through (probably because of the jam that soaked into the pancakes gradually). I also ordered their honey matcha iced drink and I absolutely loved that too - it was what I would call my ideal matcha drink and I definitely will be returning to try more of their matcha drinks on the menu and other lunch dishes!

This cafe recently opened few weeks ago.

Came here just before 9am, will h bunch of friends and I can see already lots of people buying some take away coffee.

I ordered Picollo as started, my coffee need more kick of caffeine doze to wake me up.
Then, we ordered 4 thing form the menu and share.

First, " Gibbons St Hotcakes" that will damage your wallet for $18.
This Ricotta hotcake was presented beautifully, nice, fluffy and garnish with chunks of honeycomb, yoghurt, rhubarb and strawberry compote ( nice and tangy!) but this beauty is not for you if you want your breakfast in hurry, it will take ma around 15' to come out.

Second, "French Toast" $18
Nice dish, also eye catching, instagram, Zomato and other social media food photo material, but this one to me is still in the shadow of hotcakes.

Third, "Bangkok Breaky Egg" $16
This breakfast with a twist, the serving sourdough toast with guacamole, ham and siracha sauce, cherry tomatoes and fried egg. Soul comforting food!

Last is " Pumpkin and Sweet Corn Fritters" $ 18.5
Came with halloumi chips, poached egg and baby spinach.
Well presented dish, I like the flavour combination and also the halloumi chips.

For sure this new cafe is the rising star amongs cafe in redfern area.
