Review Almustafa Lebanese Restaurant - Sydney

George Xirocostas
Zahli Modern Middle Eastern restaurant has the best Middle Eastern food that I have ever eaten. All the ingredients were fresh. The food is so delicious. I especially loved all the different Lebanese dips and Lebanese salads. The lamb was the BEST I've ever eaten. Parking was no issue as the is plenty of off street parking spots. We were very impressed with the Covid rules that were in place. Well done Zahli. The atmosphere was amazing. We were looking forward to having Lebanese sweets as they are our favourite.Next time for sure as we ate so much food and we were full. The staff were so nice and very patient. We will be definitely be going back and look forward to the next time. I rate this restaurant 10 out of 10 BIG CALL I KNOW. TRUST ME.

Very good food, awesome service. Normally I don't order Lamb but because of someone recommends me to try, I ordered lamb with some other dishes recommended by their staff. Everything was so good, flavourful and most important freshness in every bite of food was just amazing. I Strongly recommend if someone wants to try some middle eastern cuisine 💯

Overall a good option! Friendly service and fresh food. Very tasty across most dishes but on the more pricy side. Staff was very attentive with water.

Great restaurant with street parking right outside the venue. Food was great and the service was outstanding. Not sure If it's wheelchair or pram accessible as I only saw stairs but perhaps call the restaurant and ask if they have an alternative entrance for that.

What an amazing experience. Food was absolutely divine. Great service by the owner and Denisa. Will come again if visiting Sydney.

I'm unable to describe how good everything we had there was! Full of flavour and perfect seasoned! Definitely going back there!!!

Could not fault our dining experience here! We had the labneh, fattoush, potatoes, mixed grill, chicken manaf and the kousa. Finished off with knafeh and rice pudding. Service was amazing, especially Adella who was extremely attentive and kind. The restaurant itself is lovely, with a great atmosphere. My daughter was so impressed she thanked the chef personally. Will definitely be back!

Dined here last weekend and both my partner and i enjoyed our meal, everything was very fresh and tasty, the place has a nice ambience the service was good and the belly dancer was hot. We would both come back here.

We shared a few tasty authentic dishes with the octopus and the fried eggplant with yogurt sauce being highlights. Service was prompt and polite.

Almustafa is located on the bustling Glebe Point Road, just by the corner of Parramatta Road. It exudes a relaxed vibe with ample food offerings. The decor is simple, with a few Lebanese touches and plenty of space to choose from.

In terms of food there is a fair amount to choose from. Smaller dishes range from $14-$18 dollars and include the typical favourites such a falafel and vine leaves. I personally find choosing lots of smaller dishes the way to go. Mains range from $20-24 and are fairly generous. Almustafa also offer banquet options if you're finding it difficult to choose.

The food itself is simple and accessible. It's satisfying enough but there are better options available in Western Sydney. The service is friendly and warm, they leave you to your own devices until you need assistance. Overall it is a lovely albeit ever so slightly underwhelming experience.

Gradually got worse and worse portion sizes small, well overpriced, food has been westernised and the dips were lumpy and tasted a day old, previously really enjoyed meals here & it was good value for money however tonight's meals was well below par $80 for two people with the flavour of cardboard. I won't go back.

Lebanese food belly dancer and nice friendly staff. I have had many private dinner events at AL Mustafa in Glebe. To be honest the food isn’t the best Lebanese or middle eastern food out there but is palatable. Like all the Glebe restaurants they modify their foods to cater to what they perceive as the areas demographic. They make the garlic sauce with less cloves the spicy fish with not enough chilli.
Low lighting is conducive to the ambiance, but not for those people that are trying the cuisine for the first time and not that sure about the food.
But is a nice spot as the atmosphere and the place is very welcoming and relaxing.
My favorites are the potato coriander, pickles the mixed shish, and of course its a place you can try the Lebanese Arak

Unfortunately not the place to go for good Lebanese food. I ordered the lamb skewers which took over 30 min to come out. On the menu it stated lamb skewers with onions and capsicum - it was literally 3 pieces of onion and a tomato slice (I guess I am still waiting for the capsicum). The portion size was also small. The lamb was flavourless (had I known no dips or sauce came with it I would have ordered a dip or anything for that matter to make it more flavoursome - unfortunately no recommendations from the waitresses). My mate had already finished his meal before I got mine and the complimentary bread came out after he almost finished his meal. The waitresses weren't particularly friendly and at times were talking among themselves rather than attending to the customers. Atmosphere was not too bad with a very homey Lebanese ambiance. The belly dancer was a nice touch.

We had the Al Mustafa banquet. It was the worst meal I have had in a very long time. The chicken looked and tasted like it was warmed up from the day before - it was dry and tasteless and just placed on top of mounds of rice (to fill you up on the banquet?). The rest of the food was tasteless (no seasoning), including the rice, lamb and even the felafel. The atmosphere was too noisy and dark. Our table was at the back of the restaurant, near a grill covering the basement. Someone was smoking underneath, and the smoke came into the restaurant. The amount of food, and its poor quality was not worth $87 for two, especially considering the very tasty, exciting turkish and lebanese food that is available all over Sydney.
We will never go there again. This restaurant needs to significantly improve its game.

I came with a large group and we got a banquet meal. The dips and salads were good but the mains were very average. The baklava was stale and looked like it had been served before. The banquet menu is terrible value for money... And the space we were put in was very cramped. Definitely won't be coming back.

Ridiculous prices for standard-tasting small portions of food. Service was really slow too. Lighting was too dim that we couldn't see what we were eating. Definitely not coming back...

ooooooh dear :(( extremely disappointed here; everything from the service to the food to the decor......BAD!
Would strongly suggest that if the staff have 'nothing' to do, they polish some dirty silverware rather than having a clearly audible conversation about holiday plans and personal matters behind the bar....and a smile and friendly demeanour would just be a bonus....'cause if YOU don't wanna be there...I sure as hell don't!
Food quality and presentation.....negative on both counts. However, we were given free 'fruit flies'; both buzzing around the plates and on the wall :( not a good look.
Really tough chicken and lamb skewers, virtually inedible falafel balls, dry cauliflower...the list goes on.
Thank God for great company!! Because in the end that's all that really mattered. :)
.....but please DON'T MAKE ME GO BACK!!

Did not deliver order, refused refund. DO NOT ORDER FROM THEM - You'll be wasting your time and money
Ordered online for delivery, said delivery time would be 75 mins (which I did not know would be that long prior to ordering, otherwise would've brought something else across the street), waited 2.5 hrs and delivery never came. Ran restaurant several times and got only voicemail. Called up website, who then contacted restaurant who claimed delivery to be on its way. Never came. Next day claimed delivery was unsuccessful because they couldn't contact me, yet official phone logs held at Optus never registered any calls, and they've made no attempt to contact through other means eg email. Worse restaurant I've dealt with in all these years.

Took partner there for first time, very regretful. Service very below standard, waitress wiping sweat non stop off her face with her hands whilst trying t take our order? Turned our stomachs. She was carrying plates to tables whilst also wiping her forehead, hygiene awful. Menu choice also poor, have to pay $49 x 2 people min? no flexibility.
Place looks run down, especially back area.
sorry to say, bad experience compared to many other Arabic eateries.

I am normally not a big fan of banquets as you obviously pay a premium with them, but that night we were keen to try as many things on the menu and didn't really know where to begin with ordering so we just went for the banquet for $50pp...

She also shares my passion for the middle eastern cuisine and so we all went out to dinner at Al Mustafa's, one of my fav Lebanese restaurants!!
Betty
Great food and service, with great company equals a very pleasant evening. I haven't tried many Lebanese restaurants, but the food here was impressive. Will definitely go back and try different things on the menu.

16th birthday party disaster. I never write reviews however feel compelled to write a review on this occasion. Last friday night we went to Almustafa for my daughter's 16th birthday party. She had invited 12 girls so to ensure no stress I pre-ordered all the food. We arrived at 7.30pm as booked and asked for the food to start being brought out at 7.45pm. All good or so we thought. At 8.45pm we were still waiting and the girls had only been given hommus and some bread. On repeated requests we kept being told the food was "in the pan" - "just 5 minutes away". It didnt eventuate and all sorts of excuses given including that the kitchen was short staffed and that they shouldn't have taken an "al-a-carte" booking for a friday night. When the food did eventually start to arrive it was out of order with mains arriving first and later entrees. To be fair the food was nice and the waiters tried their best - we felt really sorry for them actually. To add insult to injury the table behind us who was having a banquet and arrived after us did not seem to have any trouble getting their food. Such a shame. If it wasnt for the long, long, long wait it could have been a fantastic night.

Favourite restaurant in Sydney. My family has been coming here for every birthday, Easter, graduation etc for years and it never disappoints. The food is fantastic and comes out quickly. Owners are always very friendly and make an effort.

Do yourself a favour and order one of the banquets. So much food and good variety. Always delicious!

Awful. Avoid this place. Staff is rude and inattentive, food is average, menu is overpriced.

Awful experience. Make yourself a favour and avoid this place. Food is average and overpriced, staff is rude and inattentive.

Dinner. We were a dinner party of 7. The lamb was so tough I needed to ask for another dish. The alternate dish took over an hour to prepare. All the others in the group did not enjoy their food either. What made it worse was that The staff were unapologetic and surely. I was very disappointed with the service and food. With such a choice of restaurants in Glebe they have a great deal of work to do. Good luck to them!

I can't believe they charge so much for their taboli. It's like they know everyone likes taboli And so they jack up the taboli price. It's like some sort of salad extortion. This is almost A Current Affair worthy. Disgruntled.
N.L
Poor value. Purchased take away tabouli, cost nearly 3 x the price of same product and size elsewhere. Service not friendly. Good quality product, but not in ratio to the cost difference. I would not go back.

Not bad. I love lebanese food and i know the closer you are to the city, the less you get. Not far from where i live in the west, having free lebanese bread (at least thats free here) but the vegie's/pickles are free also (not free here) What i like most is the mixed plate which includes hommus and baba ganouge and tabouli, there is no option here for that.

The lamb skewers came out with no dip while the chicken skewers did come out with garlic dip. The food was good but the atmosphere is not great. We sat upstairs and the more you goto the back of the room, more likely there are no lights there!! Food came out a little slow, we waited at least 20 minutes. Prices are fair but you can get more Value out west.

Probably not a place i would come back too, not that the food is bad but i get more Value and its cheaper nearer to where i live

Why is this still open This.... Why is this still open
This is on the banned list now
Worst meal in years

Banned!!!!

Yummy Spices and Herbs. Food, although a little pricey was not a letdown. Filled with aromatic herbs and spices I was impressed. The grilled barramundi with tahini and chilli was a hit and a good range of vegetarian food also on offer. Yum!

Great atmosphere and great food. The food here is really great Lebanese food. We have been coming here (usually after the movies at Broadway) for many years. Atmosphere is great - they have gone to a lot of trouble to give a total experience. We have never been disappointed with the food - our favourites are the dips, felafel, kebe, tabbouleh, fatoush salad, chicken skewers with the to die for garlic sauce, lamb casserole type dish. Yum!! Highly recommended.
Katie
Amazing food and service. I dined her a few weeks ago and was really impressed, the food was spectacular and the place had a really great vibrancy. I will be back for more!

I ordered tabbouleh and babeganous for starters and they were both very fresh and light. After deciding on Chicken Swarwarma and Lamb Mansaf for mains I couldn't have been happier. The Chicken was moist and flavoursome, while the lamb was the winner on the night. Very yummy

Don't waste your money folks ..... This place is A big no no from me
Orange_tree
Winning with lamb. Lamb is clearly the star at Almustafa making up nearly 70% of the meat dishes on the menu. We were a bit worried that ordering two lamb dishes would be overkill of similar flavours but fortunately, this fear was unfounded. The cabbage rolls were filled with lamb mince and rice, the cooked leaves providing a sweet contrast to the strong meat. The rolls were also topped with more chunks of lamb for good measure. Next was the fasoulia - lamb cooked with beans served with a bowl of "oily" rice. It was a delight to sop up the sauce with the rice and complimentary Lebanese bread. The fattoush salad with its tart pomegranate dressing was the perfect foil against all the richness.
The restaurant looks a little dated but is still charming and holds more tables than you might expect. Food was a little slow to come out due to the Sat dinner crowd. Coming in a large group would probably be best so you could cover more of the menu.
Adam
Terrible, Terrible service. Been here three times and they have forgotten my drinks twice and main once!

AWFUL!!!. Had the worst experience here. Bad service, over priced set menu's, awful food and no entertainment. Strongly advise against this restaurant unless you are having a work function or bucks/hens night and your not fussed about the food and you plan on getting very drunk on your BYO wine. Definately do not pick any of the set menus as they will try and fill you up with bread and dips and you will receive very little meat or chicken and pay $100 for 2 people for a meal you could get at the local kebab shop for $15. If you want to go for the belly dancers make sure you are in the main room upstairs as that is the only place they have a belly dancer. Also expect that you will have around five wait staff ask you the same questions over and over again and when you actually want them to do something they will ignore your request. Wont be back and will definately tell everyone I know that out of all the crappy sh*t holes I have been to this would have to be the crappiest.
Andreas
The food was ok! The service was horrible!! The waiter goes: " what you want to eat bro? Really, ain't your bro! These folks need to go learn how to do customer service. Wont go back rather try another place with labense food!
Tracey
Yum. Fantastic lebanese food, great atmosphere and good service. Menu has loads of choices, great food for sharing. Love the dips, lamb dishes, fatoush salad - actually everything is great and always consistent regardless of when you go.

Good food. Good portions. Bad service on week nights :(

Oh my goodness, the food there was amazing, a little dark though. it was full of body full of flavour, it was filling and the service was great. we had the fish with some lebanese bread and beef... it was DELICIOUS. definitely going back there!

This place serves the best lebanese food! Get the banquet if in a group- we are regulars it is just so good!!

We sat in the cushion room upstairs in a Friday night and it was so noisy. This is not the restaurant to go to if you want to carry on a conversation. The food was quite good and since we ordered the banquet, they seemed more than happy to get us whatever we wanted. The waitstaff seemed really flustered, though, and it was hard to get things like water in anything less than 15 minutes. The food was also quite decent, especially the hoummus, falafels, and tabouli, but for the cost, I would much rather go somewhere where I don't have to scream over the music to be heard by the person next to me. I'm not sure if I would go back again. I prefer Abdul's in Surry Hills when comparing cost and taste, and while the belly dancers were nice, it felt a bit exploitive to me, as the male patrons kind if treated them like strippers.

Busy, but reliably excellent. This place always seems to be packed, but the staff will try to fit you in, even if you turn up without a reservation, and it's worth the wait even if the service slows at peak times and due to the tight squeeze you get a belly dancer's belly in your face (though some might see this as a positive bonus). The food is always delicious: try the light, tasty tabouli salad, the delicious, juicy soujouk (lamb sausages) and the shishtawook (grilled chicken) with dynamite garlic dip on the side. The desserts look delicious and one day I'll have room to try one. Highly recommended.
Pete
Absolutely everything we ate was delicious, and we ate a lot! I would certainly recommend this place for the food, service & atmosphere! Try the vine leaves.

A great traditional lebanese experience! Had the sultan banquet - the food was delicious and plentiful - exactly how it should be. The staff were helpful and friendly. As a dancer myself, I can safely say that the belly dancers weren't very good but you can't complain about free entertainment! After giving my stomach some time to recover, I will definitely be returning!

Hungry girl. I had pretty high expectations after reading all the reviews on this site and ended up disappointed. We were in the cushion room with a big party. The long tables are set really close together with hardly any room for the waiters let alone belly dancers. I felt really sorry for the dancer who had to interrupt her routine again and again to let the dishes go past. Just looks awkward. Food was coming out at different times to the whole table. The staff says that if you get a banquet meal you can request as many refills as you want. But I find it quite embarassing to ask for more food. Why can't they bring more to start with? Food was ok, but quite limited in variety, considering that you are paying $50 for the banquet meal. Never thought that I would walk out hungry from a lebanese restaurant, but I have to admit we were tempted to pop in to San Churro's after if it wasn't for the rain.

Great stuff, no more words needed

Good food, service was ok on the friday night i went, but if you like your food without the ubiquitous bellydancers (i have nothing against them per se, but not while i'm eating), then pick a night other than fri or sat. The food is good enough without the dross.

Fawlty Towers comes to Glebe. Currently sitting at Almustafa. Worst service we have ever experienced. Mains came sepetately.....1 and then no more!! They are at their third attempt at serving our meals at the same time. We think we will walk out. Terrible service, terrible! Worst restaurant we have been to maybe forever. Shame, the food is amazing.
K
Go almustafa!!. Service- top notch
authenticity- amazing
managment- beyond comparison!

arabella and zanobia dont even come close!!!

hope you stay open forever!!!

Totally amazing. I loved this place. The quality of food, and the service are second to none!! The range of delicious servings is really fantastic. This spot is excellent for couples or large groups. Not all restaurants can cater to both types of client and do it very well. This restaurant is definitely got the walk in their talk.
