This is my go to place whenever I don't feel like cooking. I'm a regular here and my favorite is the fish kra Pao fried rice with extra tofu. Quick service and friendly staff.
Cheap and quick food, perfect for a quick lunch, the place is always packed so you know it’s good. I would recommend this place to my friends for something quick and filling
I've had the privilege to eat at the Small Lemongrass regularly each month since it opened more than two years ago.
To start the staff after endlessly gracious and endeavour to do all they can to make your night, whether it be a quick feed before exam or a catch up with old friends, a real success. As it's a family business the customer service stems from it's owner, David, and through it's staff (who I might add have remained constant throughout).
The food itself is delicious, authentic Thai food, of varying levels of spice to cater for western sensibilities. The chef in charge of the kitchen is quite talented with new meals being added on average every quarter. The meals are always hot with lots of meat and fresh veg priced very reasonably around the $10 mark for express dishes or up to $20 for something more exotic.
I came here all the time during Uni, it was simply too convenient as it was situated right at the end of the Central Tunnel next to UTS. It's a nice quick eat, with lunch dishes sitting between $9-$12 so it's definitely affordable.
I would say this is not necessarily authentic Thai food at all, especially considering the lack of spiciness, but most dishes are quite tasty as far as it goes. The service is quick and friendly, and the ambience is nice. Overall a decent place for a cheap eat.
Cheap and cheerful pad kha prao for $9. Punchy and saucy, a tad fish sauce rich but heck, that's better than no taste. Generous serving and sweet service.
Location underground near central station but has good size portions of food and once ordered the food is made and brought out pretty quickly. The standard price is around $9 which is quite decent for Thai food and ample seating if you decide to eat in. I decided to order the Thai padt beef chilli jam with rice and had an entree of deep fried mince sticks called the cigar with sweet chilli sauce which was fresh and just from the wok. Would recommend to eat here if you want a quick bite.
