I don’t know it took me so long to try out Sticky Fingers, just a block back from Oxford Street along the strip. It’s super close to where I live, and I’d heard rumours it was good. Now I’ve managed to get there twice this year, which is pretty regular for me!. I like the feel of the place. It’s cozy. Got a great seat the first time with the window open behind me; the next time, the sun was too hot through the glass.
Pandan lover? Really obsessed with pancakes?
Want to try something different? How about a plate of food that looks like a tropical rainforest or a beach in South East Asia? For a eating experience that's delicious as it is visually beautiful, get yourself down and dirty at Sticky Fingers.

Decided to order some food from Foodora for lunch at work and came across this place. It looked Asian inspired food so thought it might be interesting to eat. It was delivered quickly.
The sandwiches (more burger like as served on milk buns) that were ordered included Pulled Pork, Duck, and Beef. The pork was tender and nice crunchy salad. The crackle was very enjoyable. The duck was crisp with some delicious sweet potato curls. The sriracha added a spicy kick to it. The beef brisket was melt in the mouth and had a great flavour.

A trendy cafe in the 'hip' surry hills offering asian influenced food, think sriracha cheese, hoi sin dressing, lap chiong (chinese sausage), miso caramel with their offerings. If that doesnt get you salivating, not to worry, there are trad brekky items as well.
Mac n cheese 3/5, an elevated bacon cheese n egg, well with maple candied bacon poached egg sriracha cheese n tomato relish w potato buns (of course the requisite macaroni😆). A defo hangover cure on lazy sundays' brunch. My boss devoured it and i dont remember getting her drunk the previous night..
Chai spiced muesli 4/5, to say that i feel ambivalent at best about quinoa kale chia seeds and the like is kind of an understatement. This is probably one of the best 'bird food' i have tasted. No offence to iron pumping healthy boys n girls out there. Well balanced in flavours texture, quite filling too. Genuinely surprised the hell out of me. Hope they dont jack up the $12 price hmmptt!
Brown rice ocean trout poached eggs 3.5/5, such a healthy option (unlike the mac n cheese above) and you best get the optional trout too while you are at it or you might be tempted by the various cakes croissant and pastries near the cashier on your way out. Tsk tsk!
Summer berry juice, my boss thought she needed some healthy drink to 'balance' out her mac n cheese. Well at $8.50 a pop, who am i to argue.. 😆.
Service quite efficient and unobtrusive. Boss lady (or manager) came over to ask how everything was, which is always a nice touch.
This is one of those few places that offers you something genuinely different and good value for your $20+ breakfast (pretty much standard in Surry hills). Menu options are delicious and imaginative, and they deliver it with speedy, friendly service and a stylish spacious fit out for good measure. Great coffee too.
Have walked past a hundred times and finally made it in. Early up for a Sunday brekkie. Chai Bircher is moorish and thankfully light on for the Chai. Triple cheese melt definitely a heart starter.
Recommended.
Sticky Fingers, which opened in early 2016, is a cosy little Asian influenced café located in Surry Hills. The venue serves up a great mixture of your typical brunch items such as eggs benedict and truffled eggs as well as a wide selection of classic Asian dishes such as pad thai and udon noodles for lunch.
I've been seeing alot of foodies posting food from this place so decided to check it out. The menu is quite extensive and has some Asian influence as the chefs are Indonesian and Thai. I like the minimal decor at this place. Service is pretty good. All the staff are attentive and you are greeted as soon as you walk in, however I felt that it was lacking the vibe. The coffee and chai was really nice. Foodwise, we had the Pandan panna cotta and the Avo toast. Both dishes were very nicely presented. The highlight for me was the panna cotta. It was creamy and light and the pistachio nuts with citrus & truffle honey on the avo toast was delicious.
Sticky Fingers is a new feature of Surry Hills. It is located centrally between Goulburn and Oxford street. This place is a hive of takeaway coffee activity Monday to Friday and has a very inviting space to sit and brunch on weekends.
We were here with another couple of people which meant that we saw a lot of their dishes. The weekend special is Breakfast Bao, which is a very cool twist on the traditional Bao - and with a perfectly poached egg it was presented very nicely. The smashed avocado was big and delicious. The biggest of the meals was the sticky breakfast, which was a plate full of glazed chorizo, bacon, two poached eggs, kale and sweet potato curls with toast and sticky BBQ sauce. This plate was delicious and would fill even the most ravenous brunch goer. Additionally the Bircher Muesli was very nice.
The owners here are lovely and the serving staff very friendly. This place is a definite hit and well worth a visit
The location of Sticky Fingers has a bit to do with the name, being located around the corner from Police headquaters in Surry Hills. The cafe has a contemporary industrial feel which seems to be rage these days. The cafe has an open kitchen and open floor plan and outdoor seating. Sticky fingers is a licensed venue is currently opened for breakfast as well as lunch and there is talk the restaurant will soon open for dinner.
Perfect stop after a big night out as its off the main party stations on Oxford Street, morning brunch session and makes the perfect work from home space if ur lookin for somewhere cool to plant yourself for the day.
Thr new summer menu is pretty funky. PANDAN PANNA COTTA has a lime green tone thats pleasing to the eye and a treat for the tastebuds as you spoon through Granola, Yoghurt, Black Sticky Rice Puree, Toasted Almonds, Coconut and Mixed berries! The ultimate summer dish.
The TRUFFLED EGGS, Fennel, Radish, Betroot Kim Chi on Sourdough is very grown up and sophisticated with a nice smokiness to the usual scramble balanced out by the sweet pickled beets.
Named after a customer who requested a pancake dish on the menu, PETER'S PANCAKES oozes summer and couture with
Blueberry Ricotta in the batter and accompanied with summer fruits, black sesame ice cream, salted macadamia, maple and miso caramel!!! Its awesome!
Toying with our love of burgers is a cheeky hybrid spin on MAC & CHEESE. Tomato Relish, Maple candied bacon, poached egg, sriacha cheese, potato bun.
The service is top notch with a real family feel led by Tristan and its a playful menu, with a nice fitout and definitely worth a visit over the summer. Did i mention its fully licensed? Have a champers with your brekkie with no judgements. Love that!
The pulled pork burger was delish, with a well-balanced sticky marinade, soft milk bun and pieces of crispy rind for added texture. My friend enjoyed her soft shell crab burger which came with some terrific sweet potato fries. The salmon poke bowl was strange - a plate (!) of brown rice, slices of gravlax, half an avocado, a tortilla and a zig zag pattern of sauce. I know poke is trendy at the moment but if you're going to jump on a bandwagon, at least put some effort into it. Coffees were great as usual. And though the miso affogatto could do with a more prominent miso caramel, it was a novel idea.

Menu is a mix of brunch standards and dishes with an Asian fusion twist. We both chose duck based dishes. My duck burger was satisfying, the soft milk bun sandwiching some duck slices and a slaw of carrot, cucumber and coriander. The hoisin dressing was a bit too sweet and I think the burger might have benefitted from a sour element for balance. But it was still a solid dish. My friend's stirfry meal with kale, snowpeas, sprouts was healthy though this also meant lighter flavours. We were bowled over by the outstanding and warm service. Our waitress was super friendly and thoughtful. She sent over warm water with honey and lemon as my friend was feeling ill, and checked in on us to ask if there was anything she could bring for my friend. Genuine service like this that really elevates a cafe above the competition. I'll be returning to try the pulled pork sandwich on her recommendation!
Wowwwwww. Never heard of them. Had my doubts. Ordered a new special (Mac n cheese, maple bacon, poached egg on brioche) and it was hands down the best M&C burger I've ever eaten! Also tried the miso caramel affogato and it we my mind. Loved the nutty caramel notes. Will be back!!!!
Honestly cannot fault this place, service was great (for us and surrounding tables). My partner got the soft shell crab burger which came with sweet potato fries - my partner thought it was the best soft shell crab burger hes every had . I had a bite and it was delish, a very generous amount of slaw! Great value for money, the burger is way bigger than what i had at paramount which was yummy but small for its pricetag. Id say sticky fingers burger is on par but better value for money, with a side of sweet potato fries, you cant go wrong. I had their special, mac n cheese with maple bacon burger. O.M.G this is mac n cheese with a bit of a kick. If you like some mild spicness to your food, you'll love this. Mac n cheese was saucy and yummy, combined with maple bacon... genius. Ok not to mention they had tumeric latte with almond milk - dont see this often!!! For dessert we had pandan panacotta with granola, fresh fruits, red bean sticky rice puree and yoghurt - amazing and healthy! Topping the meal off with miso affogato, now we are not much of a coffee drinker, but this was easy to eat. Overall we loved the food and would definitely be back for more!
I've had the coffee here a few times now and it's always been pretty good. Cappuccino ($3.50) using The Golden Cobra coffee starts off stronger on flavour and finishes on a lighter note. Toasted banana bread with butter ($7) probably best shared to save a few calories. Service friendly on this visit. I haven't really had much of the menu and it's been mostly coffees but it does look good. Nice decor and outlook onto the street. There's an open kitchen as you walk in and a decent amount of seating. Tempting pasties and cakes on display.
It's only been open for three months and the dark tinted windows make it barely visible from the street but Sticky Fingers does make an impression. The slick hip concrete and tiled decor deserves to be shown off to the world and so does the food. I had the duck udon soup which was an unusual choice given the breakfast-focused menu. Nonetheless the flavours were strong and the serving was generous. My short black has a strange flavour so I really can't judge on the consistency of their coffee just yet. I also had a cacao banana shake which was delicious but not entirely cold.
Nice and close to work. Went for lunch. Had the ribs on recommendation. Everyone had order envy when they saw them. OMG!!! Amazing! Wore half the sauce. But bloody worth it. Definitely going again.
Wonderful food! Especially loved the pulled pork sliders with crackling that they had on special. The waitstaff were also very friendly and accommodating. Highly recommend this little gem. 😊
Great Asian inspired brunch and absolutely fantastic coffee in a pretty cool cafe. The trout cakes with trout and poached eggs were divine as was the truffled eggs. Great service too!
A fantastic little Surry Hills café that I will certainly be visiting more regularly. The décor is very hip and has a cool, industrial feel to it. The staff were great and the food was delicious. I ordered the avocado on toast with a couple of poached eggs on the side. It looked wonderful and tasted divine. My partner ordered the French toast croissant with halloumi and couldn't stop raving about it all day. I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a cool new breakfast/brunch/lunch venue.
Service was great. The décor is gorgeous! I feel like I have stumbled upon a gem that is going to become really popular!
My friend and I both had the soft shell crab burger. At $16 this was good value for money. The serving was huge and the sweet potato fries a real treat.
I would highly recommend this place to anyone looking for a satisfying lunch with a lovely ambiance.
Visiting the Inner East is almost a matter for border control for me but I screwed my courage to the sticking point and crossed the Anzac Bridge to find a whole new world revealed. A world clothed in active wear for example (rather than elastic waisted foodie friendly gear) and populated by incredibly fit people. I was surrounded on all sides by peeps that measure their body fat (yes really!) and have personal trainers (get thee hither). Which is not completely irrelevant to the matter at hand, as it speaks to the healthy nature of the food at Sticky Fingers.
We had an incredibly hard time choosing what to eat but eventually opted for the brown rice bowl, the trout rosti and the special of mushrooms, spinach and cashew nuts on toast. The brown rice bowl was very simple (poached eggs and kale) but brought together perfectly by the Tahitian lime and hoisin dressing - I will definitely be making the Anzac crossing again for this one. My dining buddies also loved their meals - some small kinks such as a bit of the sweet potato not being chopped properly resulting in the rosti being unevenly cooked through - but overall great. All that talk of cross fit and other alien activities got me craving carbs so we also shared the croissant French toast with bacon and butterscotch, which was an excellent antidote.
This is a very new place and it shows in places, less so in the food than in some of the rather raw service (one waitress seemed completely at sea). Those edges will rub off over time and in the meanwhile, I will be beating a path to their door while it is still possible to eat without having to queue. I also thought this was very good value - excellent reasonably priced food with brekky extras such as grilled trout a mere $5. A mention too for the coffee, which was rather good.
A new cafe located in Surry Hill, I like the look of the cafe, interior etc but I can't say I liked the food. Came by for breakfast ordered Avocado on toast with side scrambled egg and fresh apple/mint/kale and lemon juice.
Juice was good - very sweet though some reason, may be it's the apple? Not sure.
The breakfast was absolute horror. First of all, it looked really terrible and I just don't understand how they can fail such a simple dish. Avocado and toast was tasteless and the scrambled egg was slimy, oily and looked yuck. I literately had a two bites and left at that.
19/11/2016 - i have been told by few friends that this place actually makes decent food so i had to re visit. Ordered brown rice bowl with trout. It was nice. Trout was cooked nice and crispy and eggs were poached to perfection. Overall sauce could have been better but nonetheless it was good sayisfying meal.
3/12/2016 - came back and tried their truffled egg with side salad and kimchi. Its really good and only $17. The egg actually has deep truffle flavour. Love it!!
Really enjoyed my Cappuccino ($4) using The Golden Cobra coffee. Bacon & Egg Roll - bacon, poached egg, thai basil, tomato relish, milk bun ($7) was yummy and tasty and would happily order again. Friendly service and a slick decor. Keen to try more on the menu.
