I’ve been wanting to visit this cafe for a long time but I’ve been busy. I’m glad to say that my visit was really worth it. The food was delicious and the coffee was great! Very friendly service too.
Everything I had was a pleasure to eat but my favourites were the roast duck noodle bowl and breakfast burrito. Delicious dishes.

Huge portions, delicious coffee and ample seating, the perfect neighbourhood brunch spot! We ordered the baked eggs which came with some truly delicious chorizo and the egg white omelette with smoked salmon, which came with the largest portion of smoked salmon I have ever seen. The coffee did come out after the food which was odd, but it was so delicious and there was quite a queue of people for takeaway coffee so totally understandable. Overall great experience and will definitely be back.
I love fried chicken and to be able to bring it forward to a mid-morning meal of brunch with the Southern Style Fried Chicken Eggs Benedict was perfect. The chicken had a tasty, crunchy coating, the eggs were perfectly poached, the kale nice and crispy and the whole thing was doused with sriracha hollandaise. The biscuit it was perched on was perhaps a little too big as I couldn't finish it, but I'm never going to complain about having too much food! I also had the Serious George smoothie which has the magic combination of banana and peanut butter with dates, chia seeds and coconut with soy milk and coffee. It was super thick and really filling. Great service and the cafe has a cool vibe, particularly out in the street when the jacarandas are flowering!
For a solid big breakfast, this is your place. Portion sizes are generous, produce is quality, what more do you want in a big breakfast. Highlights were the the bacon, fresh eggs with a deep yellow yolk cooked to your liking and they use pepe saya butter.
I ate the vegetarian version of the big breakfast which I thought was equally as good as the regular version (with meat). The ingredients were quality and again, a big, hearty portion.
And it’s a big brekky that isn’t decorated in flowers, it’s the real deal!
I will be dropping back for visit again soon!
Quality! It Shouldnt Be That Hard! Love A Wonderful Mouth Full Of Wholesome FOOD!

My best friend and I had just had her hens night the night before, and her wife to be was like let’s try this cafe, she googled it. It had good reviews and we said why not.
It’s a small cafe that pumps out amazing food! It’s so busy but the turn over is quick. It’s what you want on a weekend so you can get out and enjoy your days off. I was surprised that the food tasted amazing for how fast it came out!
I had a egg white omelette with salmon. To die for! Recommend it!!
My friend had maybe the vegetarian breakfast but changed it so she can have scrambled eggs instead! It was amazing the only down fall was! The bake beans where so so spicy it was crazy....
My other friend had some kind of poached eggs with pesto. It was the most amazing pesto I have ever tried!
The coffee was delicious made with love to perfection.
Love this restaurant highly recommend it
Good coffee, great food and excellent customer service is what makes the First Drop Cafe a gem in Sydney's cafe scene. Their ever changing weekly specials are always a must try. Be it 'dine in' OR 'takeaway' First Drop always delivers! Keep up the good work.
One of the best cafes around Redfern/Surry Hills area. Great staff and service, the food is always up to scratch and tastes amazing. Simply put it they know what they are doing here.
Nice cafe with comfy seating inside plus outside seats. Service was quick, standard prices, good size meals. I had the eggs benedict with ham, I really enjoyed this, hollandaise sauce & ham was yum & the eggs cooked well. My partner had scrambled eggs with bacon & toast, which was a big size. The place was not too packed for a Sunday lunch.
I am leaving nearby this cafe and pass in front of it everyday in the bus but never had the time.during the week to stop there. Last weekend i finally decided to give a try after seeing so much attractive pictures on my instagram. We decided to order a fresh juice with watermelon, apple and mint and it was perfect as it was quite warm. Mr took an iced coffee with cream and icecream. It was just delicious. For once the whipped cream was sweet ( which is always the case in France) and I love this extra sweetness.
For the mains we took 1 burger and the special salad with scallop and bacon. And this dish was amazing. 3 avocado toast (very generous) and 5 scallops with feta, bacon abd a lot of chilli. Just perfect. And it change so luch from the classic salad you can find in other cafes. The Big Mick burger was good too. Mr told the sauce has exactly the same taste as the Big Mac. Which is a compliment because here the bread and the meat were good too so this give rise to a very tasty burger. The fries were ok. Maybe better with sweet potato fries. But just because we love them!!
I was too late so the muffins were sold out. But i will come back for sure !!
A piece of heaven in Redfern. A relaxing place in a very special location. Good coffee, terrific staff, fantastic food, nothing trying to be pretentious...One of the best options for a Sunday morning.

Had the pleasure of visiting this leafy suburban cafe on a busy Saturday morning.
The menu offers a wide variety of classic cafe dishes with a modern and fresh twist.
I decided to order the Aegean Breakfast Skillet with oven baked eggs and grilled chorizo in extra virgin olive oil, roasted cherry truss tomatoes, crumbled feta, basil and served with a side of crusty sourdough; whilst my partner chose the Ricotta Breakfast with poached eggs, avocado, roasted cherry truss tomatoes, wilted spinach, house basil- pesto on 5 grain sourdough; perfectly accompanied by a double espresso and piccolo.
Three words can describe the two breakfasts- Simple. Classic. Delicious!
The simplicity of these dishes is what made our experience at the First Drop ever so satisfying. Breakfast shouldn't be to complicated; nothing too over the top, just classic and hearty food at its BEST.
What differentiates a good cafe with a great cafe is the pleasant and attentive nature between staff and customers; and I can surely say that this is what makes First Drop GREAT!
Thank you First Drop for your hospitality!
Egg ninja ...
While in the area make sure you drop by for some eggy brunch and fried chicken burgers. Nothing special here or crazy food trends but just simple cafe food done right.
Love the outdoor seatings and the service, always attentive and friendly.
Until next time ... Keep eating!!
After some confusion, I made it in to try the burgers these guys have been churning out. Went the standard cheeseburger adding bacon and it was solid. Bit pricey but that's Redfern and inner city suburbs for you. Staff were very friendly.
Great coffee... had a lingering almost sour kind of flavour. I usually like bitter coffee but my long black with a dash of milk was awesome.
Had the first drop breakfast - nothing special and bacon and sausage was quite salty. Poached eggs were okay. My friend had the french toast - looked yummy along with her her maple affogatto. Love the green juice - lots of lemon, kale and green vegies... definitely cleansing.
Next time will want to go for the Schwarzenegger omelette for sure! Great concept.
Large servings. Friendly service and constantly busy cafe. Another plus is that there are plenty of parking spots on Telopea St.
Friendly and happy staff, good food always consistent and on point makes dining a nice experience with a good vibe and overall a nice spot for a coffee and breakfast! Worth checking out. 😀
Haven't been here in years, same owners and friendly service. By 9:00am the cafe was almost full, good sign things haven't changed. We had the First drop breakfast which includes a regular coffee for $18.90, great value as large portion.
Very nice breakfasts and nice staff. The veggie breakfast is one of the best around, the home made beans are lovely.
The staff are very friendly and attentive.
The breakfast burger is the best! Actually all of it is pretty good! Try their shakes, super tasty!
Otherwise, the coffee is good and the service top notch!
Been coming here for breakfast and lunch for 8 or so years. Eggs Benedict are a standout or the Brekky Burger with Hash Brown and Haloumi in the Bacon and Egg mix.
Pick of the bunch. My partner and i have been living in Alexandria for over a year and have done the breakfast/ lunch rounds at most cafes in the area, this place flys under the radar and the hype of the other cafes in the area, and after visiting here several times, its our pick. We usually go to the first drop during the week, but visited on the weekend, it was heaving with people, but didnt take long to be seated in the sun and served. The owners seem quite friendly and the staff are on the ball, the menu is big, although i have my fav( the homemade beans, we try different dishes and havnt been disappointed. On this occasion had the first drop benedict and my partner had the gluten free pancakes, as well as a couple of fresh juices, and although it took a bit longer than usual it was so worth the wait. The food was a great and the service good even though it wasnt as quick as the weekday trade, grabbed a take out coffee as we left and for 3 bucks for a regular i think its good value, hope prices dont go up after this review... would go back
Great for a lazy breaky. The food is delicious with a lovely variety of options branching beyond the standard options. The coffees are lovely, sometimes a little strong and the service is lovely. However after multiple visits, speed is not their forte. Don't expect to be eating for at least 40 minutes, so either order take away or enjoy the people watching.
Great coffee and a big hearty breakfast. Had the homemade beans with egg and chorizo, filling and HUGE. First time here and will be back for breakfast again.
My favourite cafe in Sydney!
Live locally, and have been lucky to find this little gem.
Food is great, coffee even better - and the service, the icing on the cake!
Lovely guys who run it and have never been disappointed!
Loved it. Great menu and excellent food with v fresh ingredients. Will be back!
A reliable local cafe with great food & friendly service. Surprised to read negative reviews as I eat here regularly & have never had a bad experience.

Nice coffee with friendly service! Good corner spot makes it fab for people watching car watching and just chilling out with the paper / book.
I've been a local in this area, for about four years. This place is very popular and for a good reason. We had some friends down from Melbourne for the weekend and thought we would bring them here on Sunday for brunch. There was a few people waiting for a table but we were seated within a matter of minutes. We all ordered coffee and juices which arrived pretty quickly while we decided on food as the menu is huge. Our food took longer than expected, in which one of the owners apologized for the delay. I guess being a Sunday and all a wait was expected... But overall the food and service was impeccable... most noticeably the banana coconut and caramel pancakes. That said my friends from melbourne enjoyed everything and said they wished it was their local.
AMAZING. Thic cafe is my one of my favourites- the staff are all so friendly and the food is just delicious! the coffee is exceptional as well! its a must try!!
Food and value is generally excellent. Service is what makes and breaks this popular place. A good and bad server, of which there are classic examples of both, is the difference between getting a menu within 10 mins, orders being correct and being charged for food not ordered. Polarizing at times but, if lucky with server, excellent.
This is our favourite local cafe, always excellent
We found this little cafe through google reviews and during our short trip in Sydney we come back 3 days in a row.. Lovely staff & gorgeous food!
Highly recommend it! ❤️
Quality coffee, served hot which is exactly how I like it. This is slowly becoming my everyday coffee stop when I'm in the office.
I haven't yet tried much from the lunch menu, but I had one of the sandwiches the other day which was packed with lots of filling and flavour. I believe it was the Californian. Some of my work mates also had a sandwich and the amount of filling was consistent across everyone's.
I definitely recommend a visit if you're in the area.
Have been coming to this gem for years and love it each time. Spacious seating with lots of pet friendly areas. Expansive menu with something to suit all, including a range of yummy cocktails. The owners are awesome and it’s so good to see things up and running again after what I’m sure has been a long two years.
BEST CAFE EVER!!!! If I could give it 10 stars I would 🫶🏻
Exceptional service, food, coffee and vibes - just an all round excellent experience and somewhere I will time and and time again return to. Can’t recommend the First Drop enough, their positivity and willingness to help with anything is always something that’ll leave you feeling fantastic after any brunch.
You’ll find no better cafe in the area - First Drop is the ONLY stop! 😍
This place is a great and fellows who work here are great too. I've had the Big Mick burger twice and I'm keen on trying their sandwiches next. I don't drink coffee but I understand it's particularly good here
