Vietnamese inspired menu items. Lots of variety.
I walked in after lunch and all food items are ½ empty...
Wow.. once they are voted as on of the best baguette on Sydney.
For today, I bought only piccolo, powered by Campos, that cost you $3.90
The things that I like apart from Campos coffee are the fact that they made their own pasty/bread because you can see the pastry kitchen at the back and open window for the ala crate kitchen.
Decoration also lively, reminds you about being in SouthEast Asia.
By the way this place is run by Full Thai Crew, so sawadee khrups, is the proper word to use to greet!
Had breakfast here everyday this week which was great lots of variety. The coffee has to be ordered as extra extra hot to get it to 60 degrees.
The sizzling chicken was certainly sizzling. Great sauce and seemed like a busy place for lunchtime. Looks like the rolls were popular so will try these next time. Service was reasonably fast once you get to the front of the queue
Really nice food and lots of different options. I don't try Vietnamese much but I'll be sure to come down and try the different options. Really top notch stuff.
Ordered the Meatball Banh Mi. It was pretty good. Extra chilli was not enough for me but that depends on your taste. One of the seating area's is very exotic.

The smell of fresh baked bread being stuffed with hot perfectly cooked meats is always going to end well.
These guys have become so popular they're now spreading across Sydney much to my delight although o still believe the original is by far still the best
Sorry ate so fast I forgot to take pics
The Banh Mi at taste are really good, a little tight with the fillings, but it still tasted pretty good. The pho was decent. Nice and clean restaurant in a very convenient location.
The pho is amazing, and this place is now my most favorite vietnamese resturant. I live about a few streets away and it is so convenient for me. highly reccomend
Decent pho on a super cold day. The salads here are pretty good too and the roast pork baguettes with Brie is amazing. Lots of yummy pastries too
Felt like Vietnamese food as white taro was packed and this was the next option to go to around surry hills. Order the beef pho and lemon grass beef baguette, the food came out timely. The lemon grass beef was saturated in butter, and abit to much for me, the carrot and lettuce was fresh. The beef pho was much better tender beef and noodles and soup was tasty garnished with chilli and bean sprouts. Overall an ok unch for a quick meal.
Taste is great if you're in need of a decent fast meal. I've been interning in Surry Hills for the past 5 months and Taste has been one of my main go to places to grab a meal and take it back to the office. The choice of salads is great and their medium size box for $8.70 is affordable and very filling (I eat at 12pm and don't need to snack after which is great!) I also have enjoyed the oily but very flavoursome Pad Thai (ask for less or no bean sprouts as they seem to pack them in if you don't ask). Oh, and the red velvet cakes they have available are pretty tasty and moist if you have a sweet tooth! :)
Bargain Lunch!. Came here with my friend for lunch. I had the pad si iu beef, which was delicious and the service was good too.
Lemongrass beef is heaven. It's not even like heaven. It is heaven.
The gooey, chocolate mouse cake is one of the best cakes I've ever had in my life. Amazingly rich and indulgent-
Too good! One of the best places to eat in the world, for real.
Quality food. Very good spot for a lunch - Coffee is great and sandwiches are really good.
It does need to be a little more inventive on their menu - Not change it but how about add in something different every once in a while - Variety is the spice of life :)
The only other criticism I have is that it's never enough food but this seems to a common trend lately especially in Surry Hills to make sure the customer is not 100% satisfied.
Wonderful food, but please replace the barrista. She is lazy and makes sloppy drinks.
Staying locally and hunting for good coffee landed us here. Watching bread bake as queues grew and mouthwatering salads were made fresh. What a find!!
A gem on Foveaux.. I knew I needed Banh Mi for lunch and Taste was the closest outlet. I was a bit unsure - as I felt that they may not do justice to Vietnamese food because it seemed too funky, too unlike the humble background of Banh Mi, too commercial. I was wrong to be concerned.
I went with the classic banh mi. The bread had a texture that must have come from heaven. The fillings were generous. The chili was scorching but the pate soothing.
It saddens me that I won't be back in Sydney for a while because I would like to try their whole Banh Mi menu.
I recently ducked into this bakery to trial their coffee and pastry treats. I have to admit that the croissant was probably the best I've had in this country. So buttery and flakey. The coffee was disappointing - despite being campos I found it to be far to weak. I wouldn't return if I was only stopping for caffeine but the pastries will keep me coming back for sure.
Delicious. This place rocks. They regularly bake fresh baguettes, white and wholemeal. They serve it Vietnamese style with cooked meats such as lemongrass chicken, roasted pork as well as tofu. They stuff them with pickled carrots and turnips, fresh salad and chilli (if requested). In short, they can do no wrong!
Great, open space; fresh food: a mix of Australian and Vietnamese fare, and the most delicious baked goods. Extra credit goes to Taste for serving Campos coffee. No great breakfast is complete without an outstanding coffee
This place is the best place in the best place in the land...... Five bucks is all it cost for the freshest baked, crispiest, softest baguette in the land. Filled with luncheon pork, house roasted pork, delicious pate, the best herb, lemon mayonnaise, pickled carrot and radish, coriander, cucumber, perfect chillies and spring onion.
Ahhhhhhh, it's possibly, the best thing in the world!
You should get a red snapper curry pie as well. Full chunks of snapper covered in buttery crisp, soft pastry. The curry sauce has a mild chilli kick like a boot scoot.
This combo is my ultimate hangover package.
I have been to this cafe approx 2-3 times. They do have delicious coffee and fresh baguettes.
I went to dine in on Tuesday (this week)
I ordered my favourite “Classic Vietnamese” the baguette was super fresh and crispy. Tasted so delicious!! Yummy fillings, loved the pickled carrot and the pate 😍😍 and fresh chillies 🌶
Only a short walk from Central train station (approx 5-10 minutes)
Food size was fantastic, surprisingly cheap, eggs Benedict and a fresh healthy juice for only $15. Massive bowl of fruit yogurt and oats for $12. Service was great, bread cooked fresh on site. If our at a hotel in the area this is your spot for breaky in the morning.
Delicious coffee and super tasty tofu banh mi! Yum! Very well priced too!
Apr 17 not a big fan of banh mi . The hot chicken plate is quite good. Tastes great but probably not the healthiest choice because of how greasy it is
Love the banh mi here, nice twist to viet cuisine. Keen to try more!
My favourite cafe in Surry Hills - it is my neighborhood gem which I've been going to for over ten years. I used to sit and read the paper over coffee and breakfast on weekends. Things have changed since then but the service is warm and friendly and the almond croissants are still just as good! :)
