I've always been tempted to try out this boutique coffee outlet, so today on a sunny but cold Thursday morning, I decided to give it a go. The Coffee Box outlet here at Darling Harbour uses Tobys Estate coffee beans.
The coffee was smooth and creamy, decent extraction process however a tad weak for my 5/5 rating.
Excellent coffee! Didn’t try other stuffs. But the flat white can speak for itself. Love the service as well. Good to visit on a sunny day. Haha
Thanks Zomato, for helping me find another little gem! Desperate for a good coffee, I am relieved to find that this place does them very well. It isn't too busy at the time (middle of the afternoon), so the service is quick, and the smile and friendliness of the cute wee blond rivals the coffee. I am heading out for a fancy dinner later tonight, so didn't want a full lunch. I opt for a piece of toasted banana bread, which has walnuts and dates in it too, I think. Anyway, with a generous serve of butter melting over it, it's truly glorious, and I'm really starting to enjoy this stop.
It's a little windy, and overcast, with some showers threatening, so the seat I snag on the corner out of the wind is where I stay to pass away an hour before I'm required elsewhere.
Great coffee, wonderful service, and a fine selection of cabinet and made to order food - what more do you want!
"Born to be my baby" blasting from the stereo when I ordered my Picollo.
Coffee powered by Toby Estate, and this tiny coffee shop ( or coffee box 😝) producing a serious food coffee.
My Picollo was nice and strong, service was warm and nice , everything was perfect
I loved this small cafe. Firstly bcoz the guy in the counter was very good at customer service, happy & smiley. Secondly the marvellous location; right next to darling harbour bridge that too on a bright sunny day. Ordered cappuccino and a mussifn. Very fresh and tasty.
When we were visiting Darling Harbour I noticed the Toby's Estate sign (my fave brew) outside The Coffee Box. Which incidentally resembles a box. The little Box was buzzing so the coffee I thought had to be OK. It was & I enjoyed a great take away flat white
Thank you bean finder for the recommendation! Great coffee, friendly staff and yummy food. Try the bacon and egg roll with their own special sauce. Delicious... Do yourself a favour!
Great friendly service. Best morning latte I've had in a while too (using Toby's estate). The brekky roll was epic, 'the kraken', big and satisfying just how I like them.
Coffeebox espresso is in an extremely good location as you enter the Darling Harbour shopping centre, but also perfect for those passers by heading into the city for work. It is a small store but not your average coffee shop, selling a good variety of types of coffee including a bottled cold brew,
iced drinks and they use Toby's estate which is a massive drawcard for us. We had a top notch cold brew in a little. little that was perfect to pour over ice as you like. I also got a chai latte which enjoyed thoroughly and it had some latte art which I am a fan of.
Visiting on Australia day, there were themed muffins and cakes with flags in them and they also offered a sausage sizzle. We tried the lime and coconut muffin which had a lovey flavour through it and tasted extremely fresh. We hear everything is baked fresh in store, and they have a good range of goods perfect for
those on the go, muffins, slices, croissants, brekkie wraps, bacon and egg roll (including truffle scrambled eggs which sounded divine). Hubby got the new addition to the menu, a wagyu beef burger, extremely moist meat, on a fresh bun with salad and cheese. A great burger! I preferred a healthy choice so I got the muesli with yoghurt, blueberries, and strawberries, comes in a takeaway box so perfect if you want brekkie on the run. The owner and manager Fabrizio was extremely knowledgeable and friendly and certainly made this a pleasant experience all round.
We were kindly invited to coffee box espresso. I like to research and more of less plan what im gonna get before going to the restaurant, to be honest i wasnt expecting much when i saw the photos and online menu, ill be honest,i went in with a relatively low expectation and felt that the coffee box espresso is generally for those to have coffee.
I was wronggg!!! You must must try their mouthwatering truffle egg breakfast roll.. oh my goodness. Imagine... truffle egg burger/roll on the go with your coffee!!
We also had the bacon and egg roll, this was mums favourite, it was more meaty juicy and saucy. I personally preferred the truffle eggs.
The nutty banana smoothie exceeded my expectation, i need to start making this at home... adding nuts and mango to the mix is just genius.
Coffee Box is literally a box located in the corner in Harbour Side Shopping Centre in Darling Harbour. This little cafe sure surprised me with this epic hybrid breakfast burger. I drop by with my coffee loving friend ST for a quick breakfast and some coffees. We sit on stools and make small chat about the day. We both notice the very handsome and friendly Vasili. Hello!!!

"I don't know anyone's names but I know all of their coffee orders," laughs Vasili Doukakis. His warm smile is clearly a big part of the attraction here at Coffee Box Espresso, which is literally in a box perched on the edge of Harbourside Shopping Centre. Vasili is a coffee fanatic, who’d rather be coaxing his coffee out of a Kees van der Westen Spirit - even if it does mean the odd burn. He honed his barista skills with four years at Sydney coffee standout, Workshop Espresso, and is now bringing them to the hoards who cross the swinging Pyrmont Bridge over Cockle Bay on their way to work each day.As you might imagine, the mainstay of the business is coffee, and here Vasili has chosen to work with Toby’s Estate. He’s doing so on a red and black La Marzocco coffee machine that he wryly explains: “anyone can make coffee on.” This bodes well for when he isn’t personally behind the machine, though just a year into his business, you’re likely to find him onsite six days a week.In Vasili’s capable hands, both a Latte ($3.50) and a strong Flat White ($3.50) impress with round flavour, and the requisite foam work. Interestingly though, it's in his bottled Cold Brew ($6) that the coffee - an Ethiopian Kochere - shines brightest. Packaged in a hip flask you can take to work, this tea-like coffee has a clean, crisp...

A literal box that looks likes a shipping container serving hot coffee and snack food as you step on the Pyrmont Bridge. The coffee was good and if you are in the area and wanting to grab a quick bite it was not pricey. If you are walking past then grab something
Coffee Box Espresso is the perfect quick stop to re-fuel for those commuting with no time to waste, or travelers trying to maximise every hour of the day. Ranging from coffee to wraps and burgers, Coffee Box Espresso has just what you need to keep you going for longer! Located at the end of Harbourside Shopping Centre in Darling Harbour, Coffee Box is seemingly starting to become quite a popular cafe.
To my surprise there does seem to be good coffee available in Darling Harbour. This small coffee shop is well-located for commuters heading into the city across the Pyrmont Bridge to pick up a decent coffee and simple bite to eat. My Cappuccino ($3.50) was very good using Toby's Estate Coffee with a nice head of froth and richly flavoured. The Bacon & Egg Roll ($8.50) comes in a nice soft roll with a sauce trinity of tomato relish, garlic aioli and smoky BBQ sauce. Service is friendly and efficient. Very limited seating with only 4 stools positioned around the box for a dine in experience.

At 6.30am each weekday morning (8am on weekends), Vasili Doukakis and his team at Coffee Box Espresso open the doors of their busy Darling Harbour cafe, to the delight of their regulars. The cafe is instantly recognisable. It is – as it's name suggests – a Coffee Box, tucked on the second floor exit on the northern end of Darling Harbour's Harbourside Shopping Centre. Large windows are framed by dark wooden panels. They reveal a stylish and functional kitchen space that's great to work in until, as Vasili puts it, it becomes a wind tunnel.
Toby's Estate is the bean blend of choice at Espresso Box, and I know I'm in for a delightful start. I order a Mocha ($4.50) and ask for the sexiest thing on the menu – something I learnt to ask from my friend and fellow foodie Robbie Hammond from @itd_be_rude_not_to. Alex, a barista, suggests I try the new Bacon, Egg and Truffle Roll ($8.50).
As he pours my coffee, Vasili tells me that he followed in the footsteps of his parents and has worked in the hospitality industry his whole life. He did attempt to break away from the industry by studying accounting at uni. "I wanted to get as far away from it as possible," says Vasili. Good thing he did pursue this venture, The News Post recognises Espresso Box as having the best coffee in Darling Harbour.
Seconds later, my mocha arrives and I can smell the rich chocolate flavour. It's quite a chocolatey beverage and the coffee flavour is masked by the sweetness. However, being the absolute sweet-tooth that I am, I can't complain – It's delicious! I've heard it through the blogosphere that their iced-coffee is equally divine.
You can't go wrong, with a Bacon and Egg Roll first thing in the morning. especially when it's served on a butter brioche roll that's perfectly crisp on the outside and soft on the inside. I just can't stand sandwiches made with bread that it basically all crust and no sponge, it's all about the texture for me. #firstworldproblems aside, the eggs are unctuous, well seasoned and are perfumed with the glorious scent of truffles. I would have preferred the bacon to be a touch crispier but I'm pleased it was cut into smaller pieces which made eating the roll a delight - and prevents any spillage onto light coloured clothing which I'm unashamedly famous for! Alex tells me they used to make it on toast but chose to switch it up to a roll. I imagine this is due to the current Burger Craze that continues to sweep Sydney, even after 2+ years. Alex says, "I hope the burger craze never dies down". I certainly agree.
If you're in the mood for something sweet then look no further than a freshly baked Muffin. The batter is made each day by Vasili's mother, then freshly-baked in store. Today's choice is Mixed Berry, topped with a generous dollop of Hank's Strawberry Jam and a juicy strawberry. Also try the other house made Pastries and Banana Bread, and Cronuts from Brewtown Newtown.
The curse of being a small eater – I know it's ironic because I'm a food blogger – meant that unfortunately I was too full for a muffin this time, but I'll definitely be back!
So I stumbled onto this cool little joint on a business trip from Melbourne. And wow, for a little shoe box of an espresso bar they produce an amazing coffee and some fantastic food (bacon egg roll and omelette wrap definantley take the prize). Favourite coffee in Sydney to date.
Housed in a compact shipping container you’ll find excellent coffee, homemade baked sweets, sandwiches to go. Owner/operator Vasili Doukakis is very passionate about coffee and it shows in the taste. I’m no coffee expert and I’ve mentioned that many times on this blog. But I can detect in my espresso some citrus notes and it’s very easy to drink.

Stopped by for a quick afternoon caffeine hit. Great little cafe at the beginning of the Pyrmont bridge in Darling Harbour (opposite the ice cream shop).
Still quite new this place has its coffee game all sorted. Aaron and Anna were very pleasant when i visited. They have tasty sandwiches on offer including some gluten free bread options. In addition, they have some lovely cronuts and brownies on offer for those sweet tooth humans.
I was told they will have an oven coming in soon so they can make their own brownies and croissants and savoury items such as slow cooked meats such as pulled pork and brisket! ah YUM!
Coffee was fantastic and I will endeavour to be back to try the said meats!
Awesome little take away coffee joint in Darling Harbour. Great selection of gourmet treats available to compliment the delicious coffee that is served. Super friendly and vibrant staff. A fabulous addition to the Darling Harbour food scene.
With the onset of 38C days, I think it’s safe to say that summer is officially upon us. It sucks, but it’s true. And with all the sweat, tears, and general grumpiness that accompanies it, also comes the headaches, and you know what solves that?. Many ‘serious’ coffee places seem too snooty to do an iced coffee – there’s a stigma that iced coffee is somehow not worth their time because it’s more coffee flavoured milk than a serious caffeine hit. Fair enough, but that leaves people like me in the middle of nowhere, because I’m an unabashed fan of iced coffee that’s forced to either settle for the bottled stuff or make it at home myself.
For a quick coffee and bite to eat before work, we strolled over the Pyrmont Bridge to the newly-opened Coffee Box Espresso, excited to try their amazing drinks! We tried two different regular coffees – a mocha and a flat white. We absolutely loved the mocha – it was rich and chocolate-y and had the right amount of kick from the lovely Toby’s Estate coffee beans. The flat white was also excellently made, and the coffee art was spectacular, so given the amazing location on Pyrmont Bridge, we got some great Instagram shots!
Consistently delicious coffee. Tried 'mum's homemade brownie' today and it's fantastic! Happy to have a reliable coffee place so near to work :)
A delicious, silky yet strong flat white & an espresso produced by skilled barista today in Darling Harbour! Great location and cannot wait to go back.
So glad this spot has opened in Darling Harbour due to the lack of cafes in the area! Extremely skilled and knowledgeable baristas who make exceptional coffee and on-the-go breaky!

Some of the best coffee in sydney! Most places in darling harbour are for tourists but being a local i come here daily. They have consistently amazing coffee. The service is welcoming and bacon and avo smash is a must have!

Best Aromatic coffee in Sydney! Super friendly baristas!
Absolutely love this place.
Amazing service, fantastic coffee, and will absolutely always go out of my way to get coffee here.
