Review Belles Hot Chicken - Sydney

Kenji San (The Kenji Diaries)
Whether it's eat in or takeaway - the chicken sandwiches here are delish. My usual is the spicy chicken sandwich. My go to spot at Bangers - can't go wrong. The chicken is halal too (last I checked). The place is still open (they just recently had Reno's done) Also one of my favourite places to bring people to as well during lunch in the city.

A great place for American hot fried chicken! Very friendly service and located by the water, this is such a great spot for lunch or for catching up! I had 2 pounds wings (about 8 pieces of wings) with a side of fries, and the ‘Hot’ sauce definitely had a good kick to it. As I am a spicy lover, I’d definitely try the other hotter sauces next time. They also have the QR code order from the tables too, making it convenient when dining with friends & workmates.

Had the chicken burger and fries. Chicken was nicely flavoured with the right amount of spice. The crinkle cut fries were perfectly seasoned also and were still super crunchy after trekking it in the rain back to work a block or two away. Service was pretty good also. Very friendly and welcoming.

Pricey, but worth trying. I have decent spice tolerance and found "hot" to be a great level on their wings for 'kick' without compromising on 'flavour'. Interestingly, the chips were very well seasoned but not salty which I didn't mind at all. Either way, keen on coming back with more friends to try their different spice levels despite the pricey nature of the beast.

Great spot for a workday lunch. Straight forward chicken that won’t disappoint you. The alcoholic cocktails can easily pass for mocktails if you’re accompanied by your prude colleagues at lunch, you can discreetly order through the QR codes on the tables.

The hot chicken and waffles on the weekend is a must .. paired with the mac&cheese. It's hands down one of the best chicken and waffles I have ever had . Finish it with the homemade peach ice tea and it's a no brainer. Staff were prompt with service and friendly. Would highly recommend

The chicken is moist and not oily. Lots of reviews saying this place is expensive and I don’t agree because you’re getting nice bits of chicken without lots of fatty skin or thick batter, which I appreciate. Seasonings are super spicy as expected but that’s what makes it exciting to eat. We have a good heat tolerance, and tried the traveller and hot - would probably stick with the traveller next time (but don’t regret trying the hot). The macaroni and cheese, and cardamom lemonade are blissful

goood location and nice vibe... nothing special about the chicken, just like fried chicken with spicy spice🤣 the staff not friendly we also need to take table water by ourself when they serve table water to other🤣🤣🤣 so sad

Good hot chicken, The only problem is heat consistency is very poor in Hot and Really Hot, sometime hot is too weak and really hot is too hot to eat, otherwise I would have given 5/5 for taste and location.<br/>should have more sauce option (jalapenos, coriander, spicy mango etc etc) in hot sauces instead of mayo based.
Josie
is it bad that the pickles from here is all thats been on my mind?? Im obsessed with this place and really cant wait to go back for that simple chicken n pickle combo :))
FluffyHamster
The chicken wings were nice and spicy. I didn't pick the hottest and I regretted afterwards : (<br/>The seasoning was spicy and full of flavour.<br/>Food was simple but satisfying.

I love Belle's. Their fried chicken is some of the best around. Super juicy on the inside. Incredibly soft crunch on the outside. I also just tried their Sex Panther chicken (super spicy) and holy hell! It was super HOT. Maybe I can't handle heat, but I was having trouble keeping it together and had to get some ice cream to cool down the hotness.

First time I visited Barangaroo after going to Sydney a couple of times and ran into this place! <br/><br/>The chicken is to die for and if you like spicy chicken this will definitely test ya! <br/><br/>Great quick service and highly recommended
Hungry Diner
A solid Chicken sandwich in Sydney, I challenge you to find better. <br/><br/>The chicken is the Juiciest inside with the nicest rub on the outside and that soft bun. <br/><br/>I am a big fan of the old bay fries and the decent beer selection too.

I had wanted to try Belles Hot Chicken for the longest time and I thoroughly enjoyed eating there. My burger was tasty and hit the spot. When I want to eat some comfort food, I will be back! #belleshotchicken #friesbeforeguys #chickenburger

Completing my tour of the 3 Belles, this original outlet was almost as good as Darling Harbour but way better than the Tramsheds. The chicken burger was served the warmest of the 3 and had the most chili sauce - still on the mild side of medium though. The mac and cheese was not nearly as creamy as at Darling Harbour. The staff were the best here but it’s all outdoor seating - great for a beer by the water on sunny days but could be a hassle in winter.

Decided to try this place out after seeing reviews and photos around social media - and I wasn’t disappointed. <br/><br/>Came here yesterday during lunchtime and plenty of seating available outside (covered) overlooking the water, situated next to many more other restaurants down the strip. <br/><br/>The fried chicken is amazing (unfortunately I got too cocky and ordered the hot option and it was too spicy for me, but the taste was delicious nevertheless), with my choice of side which was mac n cheese which was tasty. <br/><br/>Nevertheless I definitely recommend this place, but be careful with what level of hotness you choose!!<br/><br/>Food recommendation: chicken wings🔥<br/><br/>Pictured below: chicken wings (hot) served with mac n cheese, & the spicy chicken slider with chips🙌<br/>

Mmmm...another Belles branch. Came here for lunch and the chicken came out much more consistently than it’s Glebe branch. Also ordered the hickory bbq ribs and I definitely like the peach bbq ribs better. Nevertheless, the quality was pretty good at this belles. Chicken nicely cooked and just enough sauce on the bbq ribs. Service was really good too.

This is our 2nd experience at the Belles chicken. We were back here because the last one at Haymarket was so good.<br/><br/>Unfortunately we couldn't get the same deal here at Barangaroo.<br/>It was during weekend lunch time. I do understand that the chicken would be pre-cooked, then finished up after ordering. But the chicken wasn't "freshed up". It was warm enough but not hot, the crispy skin wasn't the same as the previous experience. They might cook chicken beforehand and just season to them after order without re-cooking? .. disappointed.<br/><br/>The coleslaw salad (that came with the chicken) had less flavour than Haymarket.<br/><br/>We used the Amex deal($10 cash back), so what we pay what we get experience I think.<br/>
Linda
Great tasting food. But wish portions were bigger. Especially for the price that we pay. Would have given more stars otherwise. Friendly staff. Place to go for your cheat meal.
Food
Awesome chicken here! Had the wings with chips on the side and the spices were just spot on for me! Service was also very quick. Although do note that it is pretty pricey and almost $20 for this.

Spicy Fried Chicken...Irresistible<br/><br/>Have been coming to this place for 2 years now. I love spicy food and binge on these on cheat days whenever I can. The place is close to the Barangaroo Wharf and has a great view to the water. Come during evenings when sun is just going down with the water glittering. <br/><br/>The service here is amazing, the last time I came here, we had a rough day and the lady at the counter offered us some moonshine as a pick me up and it was fabulous. It paired well with the tenders and we got them this time too. The amber drops of spirit with warmth and sweet with some spicy tenders...wow.<br/><br/>We got some throwback sauce this time which was fantastic as well. The tenders themselves were spicy but the heat is bearable for us and it remains nice and moist and soft making you go back every time. I love this place for the food and the people here and view is just icing on the cake.<br/><br/>Beware of the birds (seagulls) as they tend to love this place too ;)

Great little eatery along the wharf of Barangaroo to satisfy your fried chicken cravings. Choice of wings, drumsticks or tenders, cooked with your choice of spice and served with a side of your choosing. Sauces also available, I’d recommend ranch or blue cheese if you choose a spice level of hot or higher. Range of organic wines to choose from as well if you’d like a cheeky drinks or two whilst you feast on some glorious fried chicken.
Andrew C
Really nice fried chicken, and the burgers are good too. Good location right by the water, but little protection when it gets windy (which unfortunately was the case the day that I visited). Nice sauce, and they also have beers on tap, which is a nice combination with fried chicken. The burgers are quite nice, but the mac and cheese side is not worth it, bland and boring
Sydney Food Lover
If you love your southern fried chicken, look no further! Offering 5 levels of hotness, you better get your spicy chicken game face on! I’ve only had their hot and believe me, it’s HAWT!

I got Belles Hot Chicken delivered by Ubereats and I'm surprised to say that it still holds up!!! This was my first time and I was really excited to see what the hype was about. You will want to get the Baller bucket if you want to have a big delicious feast. It includes 16 wings and we opted for the southern heat and hot heat. The spicy Nashville style coating is very hot but in the way that it leaves you craving more. Even with a bit of sogginess from the delivery, the wings are the highlight! Also included is your choice of 4 sides and we chose: old bay fries, pickled vegetables, roasted yam salad and mac and cheese

Have to award a 5 star rating to Belles Hot Chicken at Barangaroo - when I requested something hotter than the Really F**kin Hot chicken tender they made sure it was just that - it was twice as hot as their standard Really F**kin Hot! Had to gulp down jugs of water and a frozen coke and a soft serve from McDonald’s to cool the raging volcano in my tummy (albeit only momentarily)!

$17 for four really hot wings. Well, more like really salty wings. The batter felt like powder, it mirrored flour. It was very greasy, salty and felt like powder. The first bite was great, it wasn't spicy but you could feel a tingle and the wing was juicy but after the second bite, it was nothing special. The more you eat the saltier it gets two jugs of water won't do you good. Drink a cup of water from the ocean and try to rehydrate and get the lingering salt flavour out, that's how it felt. Overpriced salt is what I paid for... Service similar to fast food, you come in, order, wait for your order, eat, then leave; there's nothing to comment on about service, they're just there, it's like plastic rose on the table, it's just there. The atmosphere in the afternoon is nice though. Sunsetting above the water, while you feel the breeze with their plant decorations.
Christine Giakoumelos
Lovely chicken with nice crust however chicken was not as well seasoned as I hoped. Flavour was all in the spice and was not in the chicken itself nevertheless pretty decent. <br/>Pickled vegetables are a must to clean the palette!
Nicole Bagtas
It’s okay for after work grubs and beers. Nothing special, but it’s the type of food one can crave and get addicted to. <br/><br/>Don’t expect to get seated right away because it’s always packed. The amount of people that goes here, especially during rush hour, can’t be accommodated by the 2-man staff. Moreover, there’s not enough chairs and tables for the customers. Better if they move to a bigger place.
Dylan Davis
Came here with high hopes, unfortunately the service was terrible they where not personal at all and treated me like a number, I felt like I was in a KFC. I really don't think running such a open kitchen is a good idea as it highlights all issues with staff. <br/><br/>Now the food it's ok the chicken it's self is very tasty and moist tender everything it should be. Was served on a bun the chicken was about 409 times to large for the bun it was served on, maybe that's the style I am not sure but I didn't like it.
Blurred Limes
Just had Belles chicken sandwich, wings and fish slider delivered on Ubereats. Wow. What a bitter disappointment this was. <br/><br/>The sandwich bread was stale and crumbled away as I ate it. The wings were bitter and coleslaw inedible. The fish slider was absolutely tiny and I cannot see how they could possibly justify $7 as a charge. Was almost insulting. The only good thing in the whole meal were the pickles and blue cheese sauce. <br/><br/>I’m not sure if they’ve changed management or what, but this was a disaster and I would never order from here again.

Food: 4/5 stars. Delicious. Hot chicken drum sticks w/waffles tasted amazing!!!! Chicken was perfectly cooked, steaming hot in temp, Juicy , the hot spicy level was perfect, and crispy skin!! Waffles were nice and hot. Enjoyed the waffles a lot but would like it more if were crunchier. We ordered a side of “3 beans” and enjoyed it, it had a lemon vinaigrette dressing and the portion is fillings cuz it is dense, easily shared between two people as a side. <br/><br/>Ambience: 4/5 stars. it’s casual with nice waterfront view. This restaurant isn’t fancy like the other restaurants along that strip therefore I thought about subtracting one star.<br/><br/>Service: 5/5 stars. friendly<br/><br/>Price: 3/5 stars. Too pricey. $20 per person for chicken w/side. pricey, but the portions r large. <br/><br/>Cons: limited side dishes. I wish they had more side options that r light/healthy. Example, bowl of corn or side salad would be good addition to their menu. Chicken is only great when it hot off the grill.....a couple of our visits had chicken that was pre-made so it lacked the high temperature and lacked the crisp, therefore our conclusion is that the chicken is perfect only when it’s made-to-order , same goes with their waffles. If only they cooked it fresh every time! The medium/hot chicken flavors r yum, but a little too much spices, would be better if they decreased the amount of spices that’s caked onto it. I ranked the food high still cuz the chicken is juicy and waffles r tasty, but there’s room for improvements. also, waffles tasted good but soft texture throughout, I think waffles would b better if they made it crunchy on outside.<br/><br/>Tips: u can only order waffles on weekends. And they have chicken wings and alcohol happy hour on Tuesday, I think! If u like a spicy kick then the “medium” spicy is not spicy what so ever .....I suggest the “hot” spicy level which I found to be perfect . Best to mix&match the spice levels in case u can’t handle the heat :-) <br/><br/>Toilets: 5/5 stars. Not inside restaurant , but located very close by . very clean and modern.<br/><br/>I love the food, would highly recommend! We have been here several times. Yummmmmm!!!!!!

Probably the best chicken wings in the city. Really tender and juicy. Go for the “hot” wings - a safe comfortable choice. Decent price. Good location overlooking the water in Barangaroo. Great lunch spot.

Set on the waterfront Barangaroo strip with a sea of other restaurants... Belles offers no fuss, great value yummy chicken. What more can you say really?!!!! Probably be careful with your heat selections... Hot means HOT!!!
Mash
Probably my fault for ordering the fish at a chicken joint, but I found it to be quite overcooked - the batter was quite hard and crispy, much like crackle. This texture throws me off quite a bit, but the seasoning is a nice touch; they lather it on! I think the fish itself needed a touch of salt because the outside doesn't blend with the meat (i.e. crackle life) which unfortunately, was a bit rubbery. The chicken was slightly moist and juicy which was great, bit again needs some salt. Mac and cheese was nothing special, and the chips were nicely sweetened from the old bay seasoning. Perhaps... needed a more even distribution of salt. Salt is great. I like salt.

When you see a traveler walk in with a backpack, don't tell them that their questions on spice level are stupid instead give a reference point to help make a choice. Good chicken, below par customer service.

Incredible fast service I gotta say! Came here on a packed Friday night. There was a queue to order, but once I ordered and sat down, my food came out almost instantly. So kudos! Got the medium level hotness level, but can confirm that the difference between medium and hot is very noticeable. Chicken was well seasoned and fried to near perfection. I did get to try the hot, it’s the type of hotness that doesn’t hit you on your first few bites but it definitely builds up.
Jeanette Tanasha
Always been my favorite! Keep on coming back for their crispy tasty spicy fried chicken! The coating was light and crunchy, and meat was soo tender. However, the fries were a bit less in seasonings compared to the last time I had it
Lucianna Guo
Crispy skin and tender juicy chicken... definitely try it when you’re around~ 4 wings for 17, but size is quite decent. Nice to sit by the sea and have some food..

Alot of people talk smack about this place because the qaulity has dropped but it's my first time and it's not bad at all.<br/>The slider is stupid expensive for what it is $8 for that mini fish burger haha and wasn't very good .<br/>The chicken and waffles are decent but and one of the better options in Sydney for such dish..<br/>I'd probably eat it again.
Culinary Artist
Chicken tender and chips.<br/>That’s what I ordered.<br/>Chicken was good, the coating is full of flavour.<br/>Chips was crisp, dipping sauce, Mississippi comeback, was awesome too
Eat With Pete
Extremely popular chicken joint on King St Wharf at Barangaroo.<br/><br/>Be prepared for a long wait if you are planning to go during lunch.<br/><br/>The chicken tenders are extremely juicy and are definitely a must-try!<br/><br/>Service is always sub-par and staff are generally quite snobby.
Xlittlecupcake
Great post-dranks feed when you’re craving fried chiggen but too far away from Korean joints. I love their sauces, chips, and the chicken drumsticks are pretty jooci. Also like how there are diff levels of 🌶
The Engineer Eats
We had dinner at the popular joint, it's always busy with a long queue. We had the chicken sandwich, wings, peach BBQ ribs and coleslaw. Tasted ok but not too sure what the big hype is. It's located in a prime spot though good to lounge about near the wharf
The Fair Food Snob
Please don’t waste your money on anything but hot chicken sandwich with fries as side dish in this place, and if you want to forget how chicken taste order drumsticks, taste like it’s marinated in bicarb,👎 sauces are for $2 and doesn’t even taste like original sauces, broccoli and almond salad is swimming in watered down sauce that maybe ranch dressing mixed with water 🤔 <br/>PS pretty sure they took a page outta the three bears story with the tenders because they the 1st one was the papa and by the time you got to the 3rd one it was half the size - just saying....
Lily The Frugal Foodie
Been here twice simply because I could not accept being disappointed the first time, but unfortunately despite returning to give it a second chance, I left with the same feeling. Belles hot chicken is popular but there's really nothing special. I had the drumsticks with broccoli and almond. Medium is not actually spicy it just had a lot of paprika. If you want something spicy, consider from hot onwards. I also do not recommend the broccoli side dish. Pickles were good to go with the chicken but gosh, there really is better fried chicken to have elsewhere. Service was friendly so it was that and the pickled that were good, won't be returning.
Arun Chowdhury
If you want hot chicken wings, look no further!!! Great spot to chill on Friday afternoon with friends, fried chicken and a beer 🍺 prices are reasonable too.

Arriving late one night, after being asked to join in and try this place, I finally succumb to the pressure and head into Barangaroo to try this place.<br/><br/>I had a look at the menu, and decided to have the 4 Chicken Tenders for $19, at a Medium spice.<br/>There wasn't much of a kick, but my mate got 'Hot', and wow, there's a huge kick. I'd definitely hate to try 'Really Hot' and 'Really F**kin Hot' after just trying Hot.<br/><br/>I'm not that much of a wimp when it comes to hot or spicy foods, but this made me want to step back a bit and say 'Hey, this is hot'.<br/><br/>The tenders are not tiny either. Leave the tiny tenders to KFC, these guys have big breasts... and then they have good chicken.<br/><br/>I do wish there were bigger drinks available around. The chicken can come off a little dry for my liking, and so drinks will cost a fortune, but hey, you can always try it for yourself, for a great night out. I do recommend trying this place.
Ali Lam
Busy place located along the Barangaroo strip looking out to the water. During lunch period be prepared to join a long queue, seating is a little hard to find in peak periods. The chicken was good but the crumb a little too oily for my liking, however the meat itself is nice and juicy. I got spicy level "hot" and found it was a little smokey however that is what you should expect from southern fried chicken. Good variety of sides and sauces available to choose from, I recommend the chicken burger over their fried chicken as it was less oily. Overall do head down and try it out for yourself I believe it is up to your own tastes whether the smokey kind of spice is for you.
Sukanya Mahesh
Indeed hot chicken!!!! Now this is what you can call southern fried chicken, available as drumsticks, tenders and wings with choice of heat.... We tired the hot and really hot and let me tell you my tounge was indeed on fire. They come as a meal with a choice of side, but the hero is the chicken. The portion size is great ( I was fearing that it would be a small piece of chicken. Finding a table was a feat but you can always do a take away and eat near the water, remember to take plenty of paper napkins.
Ling Ling Lai
Ate here twice already and I really like the chicken and waffles, however, the chicken was a bit too salty for my liking. Overall, tasted really good and would recommend the Mississippi sauce with the fries.
Miffy7
I heard a lot of good reviews about this place and their fries so after having gelato next door and feeling a bit peckish, my husband and I decided to try some of heir chicken.<br/><br/>We ordered their drumstick and fries which came wit three pieces. I wish I ordered something more spicy/hot but didn’t want to risk it as my son could have asked for some but he was too busy eating the chips. While their chicken had a good crunch the sauce was just average and the chicken was juicy inside. Their chips had some thick pieces that weren’t cooked enough so it was a bit hard. Maybe next time we will try it with their dipping sauce but we are not in a rush to come back anytime soon as we prefer the Korean fried chicken better.
Aya Marie
My friends and I went here for lunch, it was Sat so quite lot of people. I remember went here before and the you had to order on the side which was bit weird, But now you can order at the front which is better. Also I ordered the hot chicken before, and it was not hot at all, like no spiciness whatsoever, all I can remember was I loved their pickles lol. <br/><br/>But now, I think they up their game, good on ya guys. We ordered medium chicken, and oh boy that was spicy! That's what im talkin' abt! loved it! Altho, bit too much of paprika in there now XD Anyhoo, i loved it and I'd come back for more. Good to hang around with friends, have some beers. Nice location in the corner, this is outdoor by the way overlooking the bay. Beautiful. <br/><br/>Had a great time all in all.
TheHungryNeko
The location is beautiful. The fried chicken is very juicy and tasty! Different sauces available and levels of spiciness. Chicken wings and cider, nothing is more perfect
Robin
Ordered the chicken tenders with a side of fries and three sauces. Unfortunately the hype didnt live up to the expectation. Expensive for chicken and wings and brutally honest i thought KFC was much better. Visit for the hype and check it out but wont go back if necessary.
Isabel
So bad. Honestly comparable to really bad KFC. Staff are seriously rude and slow and just overall terrible. Especially the French man and and the young blonde girl in the blue jeans. Don't understand how anyone with their attitudes have jobs in customer service. Tables were sticky. There is no signage and was not told to get own cutlery NOTHING to make clear that you need to get your own cutlery, food was brought out and I asked for cutlery to be scalded at "its over there" even though it was not busy and she proceeded to go stand and talk. The food was also disappointing. Had belles chicken in Melbourne and really enjoyed the food. Needless to say the entire Barangaroo experience was thoroughly disappointing. Batter was thin and hardly stuck to the meat, mac and cheese was lukewam , lemonade tasted like water . Will never come close to this place again
Jelak Not
Hmm...not too bad. Ordered the Medium chicken. Tried their Southern chicken before, was too bland for me. The f***king hot chicken was too hot too! Medium is just fine. Expect long queue during lunch time, especially on Fridays. Price is a bit over the top for lunch in the city. Home-made lemonade was half filled with ice and costs $6! Really??? More expensive than beer??? Restaurants need to stop taking customers for granted and charging unrealistically.
Docfood
Chose the spiciest chicken with blue cheese sauce and some mac and cheese. Usually I can tolerate spicy, really spicy. But man this was wicked spicy that it took me a few go's and a lot of cider to finish it. I wished the blue cheese flavour was more pronounced in the sauce because I do it like it stronger. The mac and cheese was just okay. I might have to come back and try the mild one next time.
Daniel Musso
This place is sooo overrated, Korean fried chicken from anywhere is much better. And who charges $2 for sauce! Belles does, and that ain't right.
Travis Prue
Chicken sandwich - bun ice cold straight from fridge, cheese not melting in the slightest, chicken not overly and lukewarm at best, mac and cheese, tepid temp at best... plenty of other places to eat!!
P&K Tasty AF Adventures
Chicken sandwich with Juicy AF chicken, couldn't be cooked any better. Lube combination spot on with melting American cheese. <br/><br/>Chips dry and average, change the brand or try something different. Mac cheese was awful& Put a few more types of burgers on the menu! <br/><br/>Chicken buckets looks amazing. <br/><br/>Service pretty bad, not a clean table in sight! <br/><br/>Anyway all in all, great if your a chicken nut. (Or hung)
Kerri
Chicken wings with fries for $17. Super crunchy, tasty outside. Juicy, moist chicken. I chose the hot option and thought it was a nice a level of flavour to heat. Chips could have had more seasoning.
Janicexrose
Have to get medium or spicy here, don't get the southern chicken .. 🌶🍗<br/><br/>Been wanting to try this deep-fried chicken joint for a while after my work friends had gone a few months back. I was an amateur and ordered the "southern" chicken wings with chips. Southern has no chili at all so if you really can't tolerate chili then this is the best for you. I'm a moderate chili kinda gal and I tried my friend's "medium" spicy chicken and instantly regret not getting it. <br/><br/>They pack a lot of spices into the "medium" chili chicken but it wasn't even really chili to me so maybe I'll take it up a notch sometime given no sore throats. The crinkle cut fries were alright but the main star was obviously the chicken. <br/><br/>My friend and I struggled to finish one portion each so I think we would share it next time as it was a lot of wings and chips together. Chicken was not oily and it came with pickles which went nicely together and there was also a slice of white bread underneath it all to soak up any excess oil. Definitely worth the money for the number of wings and chips you get.
Sterne
I actually love the clams! Just wish they had it in bigger portion, i noticed now its gone from the menu?:( chicken is pretty good, i went for the medium spiceor the classic , chickens taste similar to dirty bird but less oily ☺️ <br/>love the pickles and other sides too

I finally met my match. My passion for chilli and spicy food is well documented. When I heard about Belle's Hot Chicken, I was keen to try it. Spicy fried chicken, what's not to like. Admittedly I was a bit cynical about the spice levels.<br/><br/>On the day, being a bit more level headed, I chose only the really hot for the drumsticks and the hot for the tenders. It was a split second decision and made considering that my friend and I would be sharing. <br/><br/>The really hot drumsticks blew me away. So spicy. I had difficulty finishing it. The food minus the spice was exceptionally delicious. Would recommend the yam salad to cool you down.
Damian Dsouza
Good feed and chicken is good but pricey. Takes a long time to get orders put as well.<br/><br/>The ranch sauce is pretty good and goes well with the really spicy chicken.
Aileen
Visited this famous Hot Chicken spot in Barangaroo recently. The place was really nice as it is an open restaurant close with the Sydney Harbour Bridge. It was fully packed by visitors even though I visited at about 3 o'clock at noon. Medium Heat Drumsticks with Old Bay Fries - $17. It tasted good! I never taste anything like this before. The sauce and spices coated outside the crispy battered drumsticks was kinda unique. A little bit hot but was very flavorful with a punch of spices. The drumsticks itself was so juicy and tender. The skin was SO CRISPY. The fries was coated with same flavor as the chicken which was awesome and was crispy as well.
Varun Chandwani
Great food great view. <br/>Tried chicken drumstick and fish with medium heat along with salad and fries + beer. Be cautious while selecting heat, medium heat should be good to start with. <br/><br/>Highly recommended place.
Candy Huang
I ordered chicken tenders with the roast Yan salad. The salad was really tasty with the chicken, which was tender and juicy. However, I feel like 19$ is really on the pricy side for fried chicken!
TL
Great ambience. Nice warm outdoor space to sit and eat in despite the freezing cold winter night. Seemed lively for a Tuesday night, this area will get better and better. Shared outdoor seating area was nicely designed. <br/>The pickles were great! Had the Mild chicken drumsticks which were quite spicy!

🚩🚩 @mealpalapp X @belleshotchicken 🚩🚩<br/>🍴 MEDIUM SPICE WINGS, SLAW, PICKLES & WHITE BREAD 🍴<br/>.<br/>💙 The chicken was juicy and the spice mix was really tasty - as part of the MealPal app this is super good value 💙<br/>.<br/>🔍 Pickles, slaw, chicken all good.....one slice of bread? I'd suggest two then I could make a sandwich 🔍

Worst service of my entire life. Avoid like the black plague. <br/><br/>Please for the sake of your sanity avoid here. <br/><br/>Please please please please please

Southern tenders a huge disappointment - never coming here again! Not being a smartarse but I honestly prefer KFC tenders way more than these. <br/><br/>I'd heard so much about Belles & thought I'd sample something by myself before coming with the big family. Glad I did - what a letdown, it would'be been embarrassing to bring people here. <br/><br/>Too early for the $13 Vivid special snack box so I got the southern tenders box for $19, which turned out to be just more to leave uneaten. <br/><br/>Tenders were very large - they don't skimp on the meat - but that makes it worse when the batter is not good. Pale beige & unappetising, looked thin & floury, barely crispy anywhere, and almost zero flavour. I know I ordered southern and not chilli, but they could've at least put a bit of salt on it. <br/><br/>Ditto the 'Old Bay Fries'. They were crisp to start with but with no salt & only a small uneven splodge of hot paprika. Better than the chicken, but nothing exceptional. <br/><br/>I have a 'calories from fat' allowance and neither the chicken nor chips were worth it. Most people around me ordered the chilli wings & maybe these are Belle's best dish, but if you can't cook others properly then don't offer them.  I wonder how much return business they get, vs people like me who get taken in once but never again.<br/><br/>Chicken tenders rated 2 - point deducted for the high price, the snooty service, & not living up to their own hype.

Have been here a few times now. Love the chicken burgers here! Nice taste, good portion sizes. The sides of macaroni cheese or fries taste average nothing special, but if you want a good chicken burger this place is good.

Having tried and loved the original in Fitzroy, I expected Barangaroo would be the same. It isn't. Overwhelming meh factor here. It's ok. But not outstanding

Chicken and waffles-- ordered chicken tenders as I don't like chicken on the bone. Chicken was cooked to perfection, moist and tender, seasoned well and the spice level was true to it's description as it was really hot. I loved how perfect their maple sauce was, right consistency and sweetness. The waffles were to die for; they were able to hold their ground whilst being assaulted with a splash of maple syrup and the fork digging into them. When eaten altogether, I experienced an explosion of flavours, which is always a good thing. The only negative to the dish was the gherkin as they were too thick and pickled flavour was off. Otherwise, an excellent grub. This place can get really busy so if you want to grab some<br/>lunch on the weekend, make sure to come early. I did prefer their hotter chicken sauces than just their southern chicken coating.

Mmm . Tasty food but not worth the price tag to be totally honest ! And not much direction with staff. Good chicken sandwich that's about it .

OK, we know it's called Belles Hot Chicken so we probably should have ordered spicy chicken but we  didn't. <br/> <br/><br/>It was ok  but nothing outstanding, shame the chicken waffles are only available  on the weekends at lunch time. Don't know why it isn't available all the time

The chicken wings were pretty good ,chose mild and still had a bit of a spice to it.Also had the coleslaw which wasn't what i expected as it was really creamy, though it was still decent. The chicken got a bit greasy after 2nd piece of chicken but the salad helped balance it out :)

Food was great. I had a mushroom sandwich with fries as I'm vegetarian and my partner had chicken wings with Mac and Cheese for the side. We both enjoyed all of our food, very tasty. The food was also very filling. The fresh lemonade is a little expensive for what you get but still nice. The restaurant setting was very relaxing and had a nice view as it is right beside the water. Service ok.

For a casual meetup after work one night, in my first week no less, a couple of friends and I decided to head to Barangaroo in the heart of Sydney city for some good American style friend chicken. Thankfully I only had to walk for 10 minutes from work, which wasn't too bad. Now I hadn't heard much about Belle's. The only thing I knew was that it was a place to buy chicken. Surprise surprise!! What I didn't know was that they had an interesting range of spicy-ness which of course was a huge point of interest for me :P

The location is quite convenient and just 10m away from Wynyard station. (Visited today with the family - wife and two small children). <br/><br/>We arrived at 12.05 to a que (about 20ppl) so we were quite impressed. It took about 15 minutes to reach the front of the que (only 1 person on the till) and the service was nice. The staff were well spoken.<br/><br/>We ordered 2 Belles chicken sandwich with old bay fries<br/>(The heat temperature came only at medium or hotter).<br/>Also ordered one side of coleslaw; one tender; Belles ranch sauce and belies peach bbq sauce; a Mac & cheese and two drinks.<br/><br/>The food portions were good (enough for a family of four) but the food was mostly tasteless, fries with the seasoning seemed like decoration - no kick. The sauses seemed mostly watered down and the colesaw was ordinary - but the kids did enjoy the chicken tender and Mac n cheese.<br/><br/>We have been to many burger/chicken joints around the world and apart from the good service the food was quite average and overpriced.<br/>

Mediocre at best. Chicken was soggy and pasty. The chilli was overwhelming even at medium. The waffles were the only truly delicious things there. Would go back to try them with southern spice (i.e. No chilli) chicken but probably Tony at these prices. Dishes were crazy expensive. Service was friendly and helpful.

Belles Hot Chicken is certainly much better than those so called heavyweights like Hartsyard, Butter or Mary's. However, I expected more. Yes, the skin is crispy and the drumsticks are tender but if they could marinate the chicken longer, it will be flavourful and tasty.

it was a rainy friday night, and people still lined up!<br/>anyway, hot wings for me and the really hot for my friend. i am a chili lover but i am also a salty lover so it turned out that the hot wings was the right choice to satisfy both my preferences. meanwhile the really hot...i could just taste the chili (or pepper?) and nothing else.<br/>good place if you want a "challenging" dinner 😉

Absolutely the best American style fried chicken in Town!! <br/><br/>The staff is very friendly, and they take the time to explain you the already quite easy menu. I usually take the drumsticks, they are big and the portions are quite fillings ( they come with a side). The chicken is not greasy at all and it's cooked at the perfection.<br/><br/>Def the right place to hang out with friends for a good chat in front of a beer ( try the Brooklyn) and some pretty good damn chicken.

Love the chicken and sweet tea with tequila! 😌 <br/>Awesome atmosphere, awesome music and service !! <br/>It would be great to see more interaction with the customers..it is in an easy access right next to Wynyard station .

Really good chicken! I got the tenders with really hot sauce and they were delicious, and not crazy hot or anything it was a good amount (for me). Pairs nicely with the broccoli because it's creamy
Looster_Foodie
Generous portion of chicken tenders, but I found it a tad salty. I enjoy salty food but this was over-seasoned. Expected the chicken to be crispier. Would I go back? Maybe, if i ran out of other fried chicken options.

The first time we fell in love with Belles was when they had a pop up at Barangaroo. <br/><br/>We’re so pleased that they have a permanent restaurant there now!<br/><br/>It’s such a great location with options to dine al fresco!<br/><br/>The chicken here is amazing! Our favourites are definitely the chicken strips – sooooo goood! Chicken Ribs are also amazing!<br/><br/>Love this place!

Amazing food, love the chicken burgers and fries. Such a shame the staff are so damn rude and unhelpful, don't they realise if they're nice more people will come back- lose your attitude.
What To Eat By @soniadisha
THESE CHICKEN ARE AMAZING!!! <br/>I enjoyed every bit of it. Went here with my cousins, there are four of us, so we decided to order the Baller Bucket of half hot and half really f**kin hot (4wings each). Food took around 10-15minutes to arrive, and by the time it arrive, all of us just dig in because we could not help our empty stomache.. <br/><br/>The flavor soaked in perfectly into the chicken. It was crunchy on the outside, juicy and spicy on the inside. Just the way I LIKE IT! <br/>The coleslaw salad is also amazing, it helps balance the chicken spiciness.<br/><br/>Everything is amazing, eventhough the fries are kinda too salty? But overall TWO THUMBS UP👍🏻👍🏻✨<br/><br/>Would I come back? Definitely YES!

The kitchen was closed by 9pm. Come on Sydney! No wonder your "night life" is now the laughing stock of the world. Just because your house is expensive doesn't mean you have to spend every night in it! ;)

Overpriced, the rudest and slowest service in Barangaroo.<br/><br/>Food was good, just not worth the hassle from staff.<br/><br/>Queue for 20 mins on a Monday. These guys are not serious about service.
Weekendfoodescapes
Belle's Chicken has been really popular and so to avoid the queues and hype - I have deliberately waited some time before I checked out the venue. . Belle's Chicken is located in Barangaroo (and recently opened up in the Glebe Tram Sheds as well). MW and I go for a nice lunch on the weekend. A long line starts forming quite quickly and before you know it, there's about 40 people ahead of me. My impatience quickly sets in. It's a particularly hot day but I'm eager to try the food after quite a bit of anticipation. For full review including photos, go to blog post

Damn good chicken! Had the sandwich and it was excellent - not too hot, nice and crispy and perfectly tender inside. I liked the mayo sauce, cheese and the soft bun pulled it all together. The slaw is real good as well.

Quick service, even on a Friday night. <br/>Disappointed that there's no gravy on the menu & the fries aren't the crunchy type at all. <br/>Chicken and fries were fresh. Chicken is something you'd cook at home, crunchy and home made flavours. I had the medium heat - there's paprika on the chicken but there was no heat at all. Next time I'll get a hotter chook. Overall good place. Definitely different to Korean Fried chicken or kfc.

Yes, we are still hungry after the burgers, so we decided to get some hot chicken wings!! The chicken wings are big and deep fried to a beautiful crunch. The meat is super tender and juicy. Wonder who put that good idea in my head?!!😛

It was beautiful day in Bangaroo! I ordered chicken wings (hot) and broccoli salad. The chicken wings were big and moist, but it's a bit oily for me.
Mel&Jen
Went to Belle's after its re-opening in Barangaroo as a permanent store. The view and ambience was stunning. We ordered the dozen hot clams as well as the Baller Bucket (where we had no options in regards to which sides we received). The clams were delicious but we would agree that for the sizes they were they would classify as overpriced yet worth it for the experience. The chicken wings were fairly good however they started to taste sickening after each one (maybe due to them cooling down - we don't know). It wasn't as spicy as we expected it to be either after ordering the hottest option (so for future, you could totally go up in spice). Their sauces tasted watered down and sides were nothing exciting for the price (granted other reviews have suggested that their broccoli almond salad to be the best side - which wasn't included in the Baller Bucket).

I was expecting more from this place after hearing and seeing all the hype. The chips were average and the chicken too. Don't get me wrong - the batter was super crunchy and thin but it felt like the meal was missing something. The sauce was great and had the right amount of kick (I had hot) but once you take a bite into the chicken the batter falls apart and you're just left with meat on the bone and saucy skin in the basket. The chicken should be had together with the sauce as it's just plain old chicken without it.

Pretty poor overall experience. For a hands on, kids friendly place - the wings aren't cut into easy to eat segments. Far too messy and hard for kids as well as grown ups to eat. The broccoli salad was in edible. Awful dripping sauce ! The medium sauce was too overpowered by paprika. Chicken wasn't tender - it was chewy. As my 9 year old said the service was non existent. Table water was warm. Wine selection not the best. Left over half our $100 dinner (for 4 - two adults and two kids under 10) behind untouched. Being Canadian who loves great American style cooking and spent a lot of time in southern united states this place doesn't come close. My advice give it a big pass by. <br/>
