Review Doughnut Time - Sydney

Lachlan Munnings
Donught Time have a diverse selection of donut flavours to suit any palate. I decided to try original, salted caramel and chocolate flavours. The donut itself is soft, fluffy and pretty big! Out of the three I enjoyed salted caramel the most - it had a salted caramel filling which was really sweet, yet rounded out with a bit of a salt finish. The ratio of filling to donut lent a little too much to filling however at least they didn't skimp on filling.

I'm not the biggest fan of doughnuts, but when you put Nutella inside them, they can be quite satisfying. A small hole in the wall shop that has 6-8 varieties of doughnuts. I only tried the Nutella filled one and for its size, there is quite a lot of filling. The price isn't cheap and the milkshakes were well above the average price. There is usually a line and doughnuts can run out.

Great doughnuts. Love the variety of flavours, which change week to week. Highly recommend the Back For S'Moore, Zero Chill, Flinders Treat, and Matcha Made In Heaven. I was obsessed with these to begin with, having one almost every day! I've never been a big fan of doughnuts that aren't so-fresh-that-they're-still-warm, but these are definitely an exception. The dough is so yummy and satisfying! Yes the doughnuts are $6, but one bite and you won't regret forking out the dough. Don't get these people that say they're dry or too sweet? If you have a sweet tooth, you will looooove it.

The staff are so friendly and even gave me an extra free donut! I love the Nutella one but my favourites are the donuts with toppings. You need to seriously be in the mood for a big sugar hit!

Beautiful looking doughnuts that are perfect for your instagram feed but flavour wise, it's a hit and miss. For me they can be very dense and sweet. Personally, I prefer the fluffier kind. Size wise, these doughnuts are huge and are better for sharing.

Always a treat visiting these guys at their multiple locations! Consistently friendly staff, great range which constantly changes keeping it exciting. Always deliver a fresh tasty product!

I hate to hate on Doughnuts. But this place is such a let down. I hope my doughnut was stale because at least that would be a reasonable excuse as to why it tasted like i was eating a shoe. A big chewy, tough $6 shoe. I also purchased one of their $10 milk shakes. Hmmm tastes just like plain milk. I got maybe 4 or 5 sips before i was completely gone. This place is merely cashing in on the current doughnut trend. The icing on the cake (doughnut?) was when we walked past the adjacent Coles and realized we would have been happier with 6 of their iced doughnuts for $2. If i could rate this place lower, i would.

Them Donuts are just AMAZING !!!! You absolutly try this, relay ! My favorite is this one with Nutella 😍
C L A R I S S A ✨☺️
So sweet! Amazing decorations, follow them on instagram, they have the best photos to promote their new donuts! I love it and the best part is there are options for vegan! Love it 😭❤️😘

Good service and located on the main strip alongside various eateries, you can't help but miss this place.
Painted in that signature green, you're drawn to the array of doughnuts in the window.
They'd brought out 1kg doughnuts so of course we were curious as to what they'd taste like!
The Donutella Versace filled with nutella and the d'oh nut is a strawberry glazed one.
Donutella Versace is definitely one to try!

The barrage of photographs on Zomato and Instagram has instigated me to try the doughnuts at Doughnut Time. The doughnuts look exactly like a piece of art and anyone who sees them will certainly be amazed. However, the dough nuts are nothing but a bathtub of sugar. It would be better if the doughnuts can variate in texture and flavour i.e. Salted/Spicy/Sour doughnuts so that it does not taste monotonously sweet.
@burgersnbikinis
Holy moly when I scroll through my photos in my phone I realise I seriously have a Doughnut Time addiction. Lucky I joined the loyalty club and you get a free doughnut after you buy so many!

Today saw a sneaky six pack of Nutella, ferrero, Oreos, mini mnms, marshmallow and lemon sherbet! Look at the colours!! Sugar rush come at me!

If you're in the mood for a meal of a desert go no further. One of these doughnuts and a coffee will see you through to dinner. They usually have any exiting new flavour/theme every week.

Find me @hungrysydneysiders on instagram

Holy God Damn Cow I have never put anything so good in my mouth before! The 3-Dimensional creations of chocolate, custard, icing, caramel are heavenly. Mint, Cookies, Nutella, bursts of decadent fillings, dustings of sweetness and rich in indulgence the office has gone crazy for this box of delight!!!

I've alread tried some flavor of dougnut time, and my choice is the nutella inside one. Generous nutella fill, and good texture, had a good experienced in this store.

Conveniently located at Central Park, Doughnut time proves too tempting to ignore! First taste was the Veruca Salt with salted caramel sauce which was so good! Next was the Sticky finger with sticky date glaze butterscotch and salted caramel crisps which is even better! Great place for the sweet tooths!
Greedygreedyguts
They look good but these donuts are really just crude and oversized with a sickly, sugary flavour which leaves a funny aftertaste. Avoid. Friendly service.

Terrible and overpriced. Poor taste and really bad value for money. Not much else to say about it really................................ .

Another day, another donut - big line here even on a Monday. All the typical options available l, so I asked for the golden gaytime donut. Soft donut with a gaytime favoured in centre. It was delicious.
Topped with flaky gold icing. What a cool idea.
Issac_eatsalot
Would love to know what dutch chocolate protein fluff is 😅 all about the gains but with this bad boy. Loved the crunch of the peanuts on top too!
Constant Cravings
Doughnut Time seems to be everywhere in Sydney! I’ve passed by five locations and I just had to give them a try! These babies are huge! It’s like a doughnut meal! The shops are really small with just a window displaying the sugary goods and you just take it to go. With a neon doughnut sign on the front of the retro green shop, they’re hard to miss.

I am a big fan of doughnut time doughnuts. They are the closest you can get to the good old 90's yeast style pineapple doughnut you'd buy from school canteen.. I got to say I hope doughnut time isn't on the decline since reaching major status.. I found this experience a bit hard - didn't understand what I meant when I'd say flavours, I bought 12 doughnuts so I asked for the loyalty card (which I've had numerous times and she didn't know what I was talking about, asked for red velvet flavour and they ran out (ok it was late arvo) and no carry bag either.. Just felt like it was all too hard - when you part with just shy of $80 for 12 doughnuts I don't think it should be that hard? Anyhow mostly forgiven once I ate the Nutella doughnut anyhow...

This Doughnut Time is definitely less crowded than the ones around Town Hall, but they still have a huge variety of doughnuts! I tried their limited edition Pokemon Ball which was packed with Nutella filling. There was not a great ratio between the doughnut and the filling since I found the filling a bit too sweet and sickening when I had only eaten half of the doughnut. The doughnuts are all $6 - a bit pricey for a doughnut but they are still worth a try at least once!
Naomi Rheinberger
Doughnut Time far supersedes its doughy competitors in the donut game. Their donuts are huge, packed with filling and come in the best range of flavours you could ever imagine.

I tried a bunch of them over the weekend with the limited edition Pokemon ball being my favourite. It was a moment of Nutella glory as I took each and every bite.
Tasty Treats
Expensive, sugary, blissfully tasty. Anything that has a filling in it should be taken home and gently warmed in the microwave before consumed. But I couldn't wait that long. Tasty donuts. Friendly staff.

Its really nice. Worth the $6. Amazed at the amount of nutella in the centre! The donut itself isnt as as nice as krispy kreme, the texture isnt as smooth and soft but i wouldnt mind trying their other flavours.
Samantha Prodromou
Definitely try the Butternut flavour. Brown butter glaze and pistachio crumbs on a very generously sized doughnut. There are some other flavours which aren't as good as they look, but this flavour is definitely a winner. With Doughnut Time, I recommend going for the basic flavours over the more excessive filled doughnuts. The Central Park store is small and good for take-away visits.
Food Is Really Great
I just tried the Home Alone donut which was pretty good! Its not too overwhelming with chocolate, but is chocolate-y enough. I guess the price can be justified through the doughnut's size and multiple toppings.

Was told by the Newtown store sent us to the Chippendale store to get milkshakes only to find out that they don't do milkshakes after 8pm the lady was very rude.
FoodieYim
The donuts on the shelf are very fancy and colourful. It took me a while to make a decision on committing to one. Tried their Creme De La Creme and it's really yummy! Love the smooth and fresh creme brûlée custard inside the donut. But for me, it's too big of a portion to have he whole donut. So find a few friends to share, even if you can finish a whole donut, you can try a few flavour at once ;)
Amelia
These donuts look amazing in the shop window but they're actually very average. We got the hersheys kisses one, and it was sooo dry. The glaze was very average too, tasted like water and icing sugar tbh. Krispy kremes are better than this!
Edward Thomas Byrne
Cannot believe all the hype of this place and how it is so popular all around Sydney. It's very average and not worth the money. For the money I expected a lot better quality. They are just ok, but no better than Krispy Kreme, which also aren't great.

A tiny stall at Central Park. I went for the Vegan Fox, since that was the only visibly 'chocolate' doughnut!

There were a couple of people in queue, but I was served fast enough. The doughnut was absolutely fantastic, although at $6, I felt it was a bit pricey.

I'll certainly try their other doughnuts sometime.

Food - 4.5/5
Ambiance - 3/5
Service - 4.5/5
Value for money - 2.5/5
Overall - 3.5/5
CK
They are just too sweet. If your after a max sugar hit then sure buy them all, but there are no choices for anything other than max icing and filling. If there was something plainer without glazing and creamy filling then they may get more guys and reach another 50% of the population.
Anna
There are way too many outlets around now, I feel like they're losing their appeal. In my eyes anyway.

I chose the creme de la creme this time and it was pleasant. The custard inside was filled to the brim but because it wasn't overly sweet it was enjoyable. Any sweeter and it would have been sickening. Still soft and fluffy. The toffee on top was subtle enough to add a little crunch but again wasn't overpowering. I think it's best this way, for each aspect of the doughnut to play its part without any taking over the taste of the whole doughnut.

The doughnuts I've had have been great, but I don't find myself gravitating towards any of the outlets when I see them. Just way too many and the price isn't attractive either.

4.0 for Banana Caramel Milkshake; the tastiest milkshake I've ever had in my entire life, I swear.

Plus :
- It wasn't too sweet yet the strong flavour of both banana and caramel are there.
- Donut with glaze and sprinkle was really good! Loving the glaze.
- there were 3 little pieces of banana candy thats sooooo good.

Minus :
- Too much whipping cream that makes me feel fool before I could finish the milkshake itself
- Too less banana candy
- Waiting time. (5-7 minutes)

I wish they have their own sitting / dining space.

Would defo come back for another milkshake flavour nor doughnuts :)

A bit pricey. Would like to give another go. This time will eat the doughnuts straight away after buying em. Just to make sure that they taste better when theyre "fresher" v

Cute little doughnut place in Central Park. After marvelling at the scrumptious desserts I finally decided on the You Go, Glen Coco!, which was both vegan and gluten free. After handing over my $6 and taking my first bite I found the outer layer to be very tough and chewy. The top is drizzled with a coconut caramel glaze with coconut chips and to be honest, I didn't taste much of the caramel. To me it was extremely sugary. Next time I return I'll be choosing one of their signature doughnuts instead.
TooLazyToCook
Pretty good donuts, not sure if the actual 'dough' part is better than Krispy Kreme (seems a little more 'cakey' to me) but the quality of the fillings/icing are definitely better. They're about twice as big too so not bad value compared to KK either (considering their hand made). The Veruca Salt and the Butternut were both great, the Ferrero No Share not so much.

Doughnut Time have really added something special and sickly amazing to the Sydney dessert scene. Yes they are extravagant, yes you will have a heart attack after and yes you will do some serious heavy breathing... but worth it.
Snapshots Of Food
Doughnut Time is here and they have created a range of doughnuts that will make you drool, with a name that will make you giggle. Doughnut Time can be found at very few locations, luckily they are spread throughout Australia (well, the East side of Australia at least, sorry Perth!). The different flavours combine a mixture of your favourite snacks (such as pretzels, Cherry Ripe and Nutella etc) and mix it with a sh*tload of sugar, giving you an out of body -overdosing- experience that you cannot just find at your local doughnut (donut) shop.
Insatiable Munchies
I remember my first visit to Australia: I had just discovered Krispy Kreme, and I was determined to try every flavour they had in the store. The result? An extra 10kgs in 10 days. Fun times. Well Krispy Kreme isn’t quite what it used to be, but don’t worry, there are many other places rushing in to fill that doughnut shaped hole in our hearts (geddit?). Like Brisbane’s Doughnut Time, for example.

Purchased the m&m doughnut which was really nice, the pistachio doughnut we purchased was not so nice I would try a different flavour next time. It's pretty expensive but they do take eftpos which is helpful.
Lea
Lots of flavours, funky names, reasonable price, still it didn't grasp my heart like the a pastry or a croissant does..I would like to give it a second chance..
Eatwithmyfoodsafari
Nice service here. Nice range of doughnuts and I had the Creme De La Creme. Big plump doughnut with a nice custard filling. The toffee sugar on top has a nice crunch and is taken enough not to be too sweet but not too bitter too.
Eugene Chan
Simply overpriced junk. The doughnuts themselves were average. And $6? I can get a pack of 4 inside Woolworths with equal quality. This place should be go bankrupt soon.
OneFatFoodie
Fun concept, gorgeous set-up at Central Park. The doughnuts were definitely good but I wasn't blown away. The Elvis Presley was my fave of the 3 I tried. Definitely worth a stop in
Yumyumyum
With the price they charge and how good they look I was a little sad to actually taste the Doughnut. It was OK but not worth the price, pitty as they look amazing. Maybe they just need a bit more time to get the recipe right.
Baker Bowie
The donuts look great and they get bonus points for superb punning game with their product names (Mariah Cherry anyone?) but the donuts themselves could be better. They are huge which makes it seem like good value but they are so big that theyre difficult to eat. I would prefer half the size and half the price so that the flavour of the glaze was more obvious. A work in progress.
TheBearReview
Who needs a sugar hit? Me me me! Donuts all dressed up. They look amazing but at the end it is just a sugar hit. Are they worth $6.95 each? Not if you don't eat with your eyes or camera. The flavour is not quite there.
AzzA
These doughnuts look amazing which is probably their greatest attraction.
They're huge, colourful and have playful names for each flavour. However it's the flavour that is unfortunately somewhat of a let down as it's unable to match the wonderful appearance of each donut. The original glaze is a solid offering, but the glaze for every other donut we tried (see photo) seems derivative of the original glaze and doesn't add much variety. Instead they seem to opt for different toppings to give it flavour which doesn't work as well as it could.
The physical size of the doughnuts are massive. Probably too big to be honest as the topping to doughnut "ratio" just doesn't work out that well. On the plus side the doughnut itself is well made and not dry, but obviously at that size they do start to taste a little "doughy" after a while.
Ideally they'd be half the size and a couple dollars cheaper. You'd essentially get the same amount of glaze and flavour per doughnut, which would emphasise the flavour more, plus they'd be a little cheaper and physically easier to eat. It seems as though the physical size is purely and aesthetic and economical choice at the sacrifice of flavour, which ultimately isn't ideal for the consumer.

I used to follow these guys on Instagram and have been dying to go to Brissy to check out their photogenic doughnuts. I was super excited when I found out they opened in Sydney. Their doughnuts are $6 and are pretty big, but I was underwhelmed by the flavours and texture of their doughnuts. Their doughnuts are more pleasing to the eyes than the palate.

The staff were very indifferent and it really clashed with the fun and colourful exterior of the shop. Also the staff t-shirt with the two doughnuts on the breasts ... very tacky.
FT
Nothing special about the donuts. Not worth the $6 or the hype. Personally, it was overly sweet and made me slightly sick afterwards. Tasted worst than the donuts from Donut King lol
Farah Huq
They just opened at central park and must be doing really good as they were almost sold out when i went. So had to pick cookies & cream, one with the peach flavour and gingerbread one. They have exotic name for these and i dont remember any :( Anyhow they looked good but were painfully sweet for my taste. However i have to give credit for their 'dough nut' (without the glaze) as it was the first time i ever came across a super moist and soft mix. But it would be a treat for someone with a massive sweet tooth.

Let's get one thing out of the way. These donuts are huge. You practically need to unhinge your jaw to take a bite from top to bottom. But as your teeth break through the glaze and then sink into its fluffy core, it's hard not to feel your heart flutter. Watching the donut spring back to its former height is another glorious sight.
