Our favourite place for croissant and coffee even though we always have to take away! As soon as I arrive I can smell the butter (I felt I was in France) and the staffs have French accents! Coffee was standard but when coupled with croissants and their cakes, it kinda balanced.
Strawberry tart, almond croissant the baguette were all great! A must to visit. I love this place
Pastries, tarts and crossiants are way too delicious here. It's quite tough to buy something and share it!
The sourdough baguette, oh my God..I have never tasted a bread so delicious and keep me biting for more! Pain au chocolat and Almond croissant are also very nice..most recommended to everyone who is looking for a life-changing bread! Will try the goat cheese & tomato quiche next time ;)
I may not be an expert in French croissants but I did spend months chasing down the ones on various best lists in Paris a few years ago. So, what a treat that there are amazing croissants in my own neighbourhood. Really, I should be coming here every morning. Like a number of the best French bakeries, this one proudly announces who is doing the baking: Christian Bonne, who opened the bakery in Surry Hills with his partner Kareen Ferrali in early 2017.
To satisfy your croissant craving in surry hills...here’s absolutely for locals I guess but I probably should try all here. And the boys that work here are all ridiculously attractive...they are kind and so nice as well.
The recommendation from a friend to try the croissants here definitely paid off! The aromas coming out of this bakery wafted out and drew me in. The service is super friendly and in a good sign for this store is that the queue kept building behind me.
Came here for almond croissants but unfortunately the couple ahead of me bought their last ones! Not to worry they still had other choices from their viennoiserie. Suitable alternative was the Almond Pain Au Chocolat. It was the best of both worlds as offering the traditional almond croissant with the chocolate insert you’d usually get with a regular Pain Au Chocolat. The pastry is crispy and so full of flavour. Loved the combination and would be back here to try their other goods!
Never had anything cooked but the breads, of many kinds, are wonderfully crusty with a good flavour. They do good creamy coffee although it’s lighter, as is the French style.
I never knew that there was something missing in my life until this French bakery opened up around the corner from where I live.
I’m in love with everything they make and can not wait to go back. Probably today!
This place is a typical French bakery located in Surry hills. In france the bakery are not always a place where you can sit and have a coffe, most of the time it is just a shop where you buy your bread and cakes and go home to enjoy them. La vie est belle reproduce this atmosphere with a little shop but with everything you need for a prefect breakfast. They have variety of bread but I would just say that the baguette is perfect and not expensive for Sydney, which is something very rare. The bread is cryspy and has a perfect taste. The pastries are also what I was expecting when I came here. Just buttery enough and so tasty. I am in love with their pain au chocolat. And if you like éclair I will tell you to give a try to the ones they have because they are really good too

There's lots of places in Sydney calling themselves French bakeries but only Lavie & Belle takes us back to Paris. A croque monsieur is a ham and cheese toastie, but not everybody gets it right like Lavie & Belle. Shawn's mum likes to lecture us about a how croque monsieur must have cheesy/bechemal top, and this one does, it's a beauty.
Pretty much a hole-in-the-wall bakery and producing great quality French baked goods. The Croissant ($3.90) had excellent light texture and flavour and was still warm from the oven which makes it even better. One of the best croissant I've had in Sydney. Chocolate Eclair ($6) glistening with chocolate on top had very good texture and flavour as well. It was cool inside from the refrigeration display so best to leave a little while at room temperature I think before eating if you can wait that long. Pear Tart ($5.40) had a light textured cake style base and a nice soft pear in the middle. So many temptations here it's lucky I don't work closer or I'd probably be visiting this place nearly every day — and gaining a lot of weight hehe. Looking forward to visiting again for that very tempting looking fougasse spotted on the counter or maybe a slice of quiche. They're not doing coffee so you'll need to go next door. Friendly French bakers in the kitchen making me feel confident this is the real deal.
One of the best pastry shops in the neighbourhood, our go to bakery place. You guys serve excellent food with reasonable price. Love the mixed berry log I had last weekend, it was super airy and not too sweet.
Great vibe and service. Tried a couple today and look forward to trying other things. The pastry on the millefielle was slightly underdone on a layer today. But it had a good flavor cream pat.
Yum! Loved my friand and my espresso. Confirms that I need to come here and try more of their treats!!
One of my favourite pasty shops in Sydney. The chocolate croissant is great!
Wonderful service, delicious patisseries and they have orangina 😊. Certainly going back again.
Apple tart is good.
Baguette, brie sandwich, Croissant, pistachio something weren’t special.
Love their baguette sandwich and never leave without their lemon meringue and eclair. My must get everytime.
So fresh and delicious. Staff are friendly and this place is truly loved by the locals. Good selection of croissants, breads, pastries, sandwiches and coffee.
