Had a great cheese burger and a big milk shake. The burger was really good, very juicy. The shake was a bit too sweet for me but still tasty. Loved this place coz it is dog friendly and the staff was really nice.
The bacon double cheeseburger by Nighthawk Diner was an absolute ripper. These cloud like buns did a fantastic job of soaking up the juices of two medium rare beef patties. Bacon was crispy af and pickles added a nice amount of sweetness. Fried chicken sandwich was great too but possibly a touch dry but that’s easy overlooked when the rest of the meal was so great! Highly recommend getting the fries loaded with cheese sauce and jalapeños.
Great food and overall vibes, perfect for catching up with friends or even taking a date!
It’s a nighthawk only by cafe standards, open 11-10 rather than 7-3, but it’s a very attractive space, with windows probably big enough for the painter to see you properly, and worth visiting any time it’s open. Except that it was empty mid Friday afternoon. The menu is largely American and I went straight for tacos. By Australian standards they had a very good rich flavour and big chunks of meat, plus they press their own tortillas (never seen that before in Sydney). Tacos seem expensive at $8 each, as do the beers, but they were good and the rest of the menu seems more reasonable, plus I got a hefty discount for something.
Finally tried this diner on Abercrombie St. Very unique ambience, a fairly open kitchen and a movie projected onto the wall. The burgers were great! Fresh and flavourful. I really liked the fries as well. Would definitely come back to try more!
Caught up with a friend here over dinner! Very cute American diner situated in a little nook on Abercrombie St and service was great. The food was affordable and very wholesome. Would recommend coming here for a late night diner grub, they serve up some cool cocktails, AMAZING shakes and really good sandwiches/burgers! 😉 thanks guys! Will be back soon 🍔

With the easy charm of genuine American diner, Nighthawk Diner, have made their permanent digs in a building that used to house the Sex Workers Outreach Project. Both inhabitants utilising this space, decked out with exposed wooden beams and an adjoining garage, cater to all comers. Where outreach vehicles packed full of condoms once rested, a shiny silver Airstream trailer now sits. Alistair Fogg began his exploration of classic American fare back in 2013 with a series of food trucks, and they continue to roam the streets. The long open kitchen, framed by backlit menu boards and caged ingredients, dissolves the barrier between diner and chef.Floor to ceiling windows let in the red brake light parade of Abercrombie Street at peak hour. Concrete floors and roughly cleaned up bricks help to keep everything gritty and real; with exposed hanging bulbs lighting up the urban ‘backyard’. A row of three comfy barber’s stools face the white-tiled kitchen, staffed by five friendly men. As opposed to a food truck experience, what this space offers is a chance to sink your arse into a padded banquette and throw some light on the subject. Rest your peepers on the golden brown curves of a soft, hoagie roll – an American submarine sandwich – presented as...
Yum!! Cheese fries, Philly Cheesesteak the burger and the coconana frittata splittata we’re all delicious. Couldn’t fault the service and the venue. We will definitely be regular visitors.
Visited the diner yesterday and loved everything I tried! Ordered the Philly Cheesesteak Sandwich and the Fried Chicken Sandwich, the boozy shakes (the nutella and the Choc Brownie), the nachos with pulled pork and the coconana fritta splitta.
Everything was amazing! Both sandwiches tasted great, the brisket was perfectly cooked. The boozy shakes both tasted the same, only difference was that mine had chocolate brownie pieces in it which were delicious. The dessert was great, I'm obsessed with Peanut Butter and Nutella and the combination of those with the ice cream and the coconut banana fritta was just amazing. The presentation of the nachos were the best I have seen and dont get me started on their house made cheese sauce. OMG I didn't shut up about it. The setup of this diner is great, it has a great vibe to it and the owner was super nice. Definitely a place to check out in Sydney if you havent yet!
Pretty juicy burger! These guys were at a recent festival I was at. I was fortunate enough to beat the lunch rush and was able to quickly put my order down for 1 cheese burger. The wait for my burger wasn't long either approximately 10 minutes. After I got my order, I saw a queue had formed.
I feel like my burger was rushly put together and it was a bit sloppy appearance wish and to eat. But taste wise, I was very please. It did the job! The patty was juicy & moist with freshly cut tomatoes & lettuce that did make the burger super heavy. Reminded me of shake shack & delicious.
I really enjoyed this food. They were catering Spotify's birthday bash in Darlinghurst last night and were swamped with hundreds of orders. Me and a friend ordered cheesy fries and cheeseburgers (we would have got a chicken burger but they were done by the time we rocked up - and incidentally, they looked and smelt great). Because of the crowd we waited about 45 minutes. Despite the wait, which was understandable, the mood was pretty relaxed and we watched this guy with a topknot orchestrate what looked like a completely shambolic ordering system and somehow stay on top of it all. He was like Russell Crowe in A Beautiful Mind, seeing equations in everything, remembering faces. An impressive level of calm under duress. Anyway, the burgers were great - tasty, oozing juices, fresh tasty salad, good bun and all of it sizeable and satisfying. The cheesy fries were lush - really overloaded with cheese. Comfort food heaven. Highly recommended.
The nighthawk cheeseburger is great. Nice patty and a good flavour from the sauce. Customer service is really good and the food is ready in quicktime.
We tried The Nighthawk Dinner food truck at the Sunset Cinema in North Sydney. What tasty burgers! Great quality food, fresh ingredients and it actually tasted healthy. A burger that doesn't make me feel too much guilt is a big win for me. All at a great price. Cheesy fries are a must too
Food trucks located conveniently near my work so walked past this one and really wanted to try the Cheesy Fries. Glad I did as they were delicious!

Had the opportunity to try their actual diner located in Chippendale. It has cool American vibes when you walked in with diner booth seating and a large projection screen on one side of the restaurant.
The service is super friendly and they’ll bring menus and water to your table promptly. We were a bit hungry tonight so ordered some items of the nighthawk menu as well as tacohawk menu (the name’s reflect their food trucks they operated). They also offer breakfast, substantial mains, and desserts too.
Off the nighthawk menu we went with the Double Cheeseburger & Fried Chicken Sandwich. The cheeseburger was juicy and plump full of flavour. Enjoyed that a lot! Chicken sandwich had a bit of spicy kick to it due to he chipotle and jalapeños but the chicken was crunchy and the hoagie roll encapsulated the ingredients well. Had some sides of Fries and Herb Slaw and these were great accompaniments to the burger and sandwich.
The tacohawk menu offers freshly pressed and housemade corn tortillas and you can definitely taste the difference! We opted for the Citrus Pork and Tequila Fish Tacos. Both had an abundance of flavour and very moreish. You could definitely eat a few of these in one sitting.
Also tried their Thick Shake and flavor (American spelling!) of the day was Peanut Butter & Chocolate. Classic diner style serving and topped with cream and a cherry, it could’ve been a dessert as it was so thick and full of the good stuff.

The juicy southern fried chicken burger with iceberg lettuce, Yankee cheese, BBQ mayo on a soft bun tasted like fried chicken + Big Mac sauce in a burger! The cheesy fries with melted Yankee cheese, special sauce and jalapeños also tasted like a Big Mac but fries! When I say Big Mac sauce, I do mean it in a good way!
I never expected to get this good quality American burger from a food truck. It's just like any burger chain in the States where they grill the patty and then melt the cheese along with the patty before putting inside the bun which they serve with heaps of lettuce, tomato and a secret sauce. By the time we went they were out of both chicken burger and the cheesy fries so we were stuck with the beef one. I assume it's very popular as they run out of food quite quickly.
This burger is king. These burgers are by far the best burgers I have ever sunken my chompers into. They are not greasy, & chips are amazing !!
Winning !!
Constantly on the move and ready to turn any frown upside down (no, it isn't me unfortunately) , The Nighthawk Diner (currently parked inside World Square; 680 George Street, Sydney CBD) will certainly make you think twice about American cuisine. Not quite a food truck, nor a hillbilly caravan, this spaceship looking device holds inside some of the best tasting sangas in town. I'd head into space anyday within one of these little bad boys ... wouldn't you? The The Nighthawk Diner possesses an uncharacteristic ability to draw every customer with its quirky exterior but it also has the quality on the inside to keep hungry food goers coming back for more (yes, like me; there we go) . Chocolate/Strawberry Thickshakes Pat grabbed himself a sensual strawberry thickshake whilst I went for some chocolately fun. These thickshakes were every bit; throat clogging, mucus thickening, artery filling and stroke enhancing , however there is no real substitute for flavour when it comes to something as
Batch Brewing Company is located in a warehouse located in Marrickville (as an aside we’re loving the rise of the innerwest food scene) and we’d previously read that you can get pizzas here but pizza’s no longer being served. Which was a shame. That said, every second saturday there’s a foodtruck here so you can get your booze with your eats. This was also our first experience of nighthawk, we’ve always seen it but we’re always full when we chance upon it. Its a good one with a rather delicious cheeseburger which we smashed with the beers. Vats (inside) to the side. There’s a bit of room here but its small scale brewery. The venue is a large shed, with a counter here and there’s live music and quite a bit of seating – couches near the bar and long tables where we’re standing Night hawk diner cheese burger were really quite nice with a side of crisps – quite a nice burger. Simple and tasted great. tasting crate comes with 6 of their tap beers and you get the little clipboard when you ge
I heart Cuban Sandwich. My friend like their Philly cheese steak, while I like their Cuban Sandwich. You can also get them at PLAY Bar (Surry Hills) :)
We have nighthawk diner at our wedding last weekend. We knew from our tasting that the food was excellent but was confirmed the night of our wedding when every single person commented on the taste of the food (shoutout to the cheeseburger). The entire experience with The Nighthawk Diner was amazing from the start Abigail was helpful and answered all the questions we had. I had a chat to Al and he made us feel confident in choosing The Nighthawk Diner for our wedding catering and ensured me I could contact him at any time with any concerns. The menu options were plenty with everything tasting good. The Nighthawk team were also very accommodating with dietary restrictions. I'm. still dreaming about the food and look forward to working with The Nighthawk Diner in the future!
The best cheese gravy fries!!! I absolutely loved this place. Burgers are up there with the best of em around Sydney. Service is good, vibe is perfect. Definitely worth the calories, time and money!
Freaking awesome Tacos!!! The crunchy eggplant Tacos are an absolute must! The Miami Cuban sandwich is a perfect example of how to make a milk bun sandwich (normally not a fan, but it definitely worked here). I'm looking forward to coming back and working my way through the rest of the menu.
Nighthawk diner has amazing food, run by people who are passionate about what they do. The tacos were juicy and flavoursome. I'd definitely recommend the beef brisket but the eggplant one was surprisingly delicious as well, providing a great alternative for vegetarians. The fries were super crunchy and thin, like McDonalds fries but 10x more crispy and fresh.
Overall, great place to hit up with friends for a chill feed.
Nighthawk catered our wedding and they were a dream! Through postponements and ever changing dietaries, they were super helpful and responsive and everyone raved about the food on the day 🙏🏼 I hope I get to enjoy the food again in the future!!
Cocktails were not up to scratch but given that it was at happy hour price I will let it slide. Burgers tasted nice but a little pricey compared to other good burger places around Sydney. Service was good and order didn't take long.
