Review Din Din Persian Kitchen - Sydney

I had merry a Persian girl just recently and thought l would try their cuisine. I was dropped off by my man and went in with a bottle of wine. The place looked like it was in shambles and very depressing. I wanted to leave but thought give it a chance. I asked the lady for wine glasses and was given a paper takeaway menu. After the glasses not coming five minutes later l asked again. I went to the counter to order a vegetarian meal and the salmon, she asked me my name and l said we are just sitting here. I have it to her and when the food came out l was shocked that we had no plates. We were given the food in take away containers with two differing plastic forks, my fork looked like she found it on the street it was so old and pitted. No plastic knife or spoon. The food. The salmon was ok, it was just the salmon with pomegranate sauce on the side which we didn’t use. The eggplant was tasty but so sweet. It was like having dessert, it looked terrible and eating something that sweet was not pleasant. IA smaller portion with something to break the taste would’ve been better. It was difficult using my old plastic fork and the top of a take away lid to eat from, The meal cost nearly $50 for the two of us. For that price l would expect plates and cutlery. We were charged more than the prices on the menu, not sure if it was corkage or her thinking l wouldn’t know the prices for what l ordered. Din Din needs to invest in some crockery and cutlery, even the cheapest eats give you plates and cutlery. If you insist on using plastic forks at least give your customers a new fork. I will never go back, my partner apologized several times for the shamble of a meal we had. Avoid

Absolutely delicious food with generous portions and good value for what I paid. Unfortunately, I didn’t take a photo as I had takeaway. Staff are very professional and super friendly. Definitely recommended!

Food is quite nice, filling and well presented. Location is very convenient and service is quite good. Overall a good value for money ! Highly recommended for people around Surry Hills / CBD who would like to try some Persian food. Attached is the photo of my Jojeh Kabab (no.14) and an extra skewer of Kobideh Kabab (no.37).

Discovered this gem with EatClub. Cozy and friendly place. Very delicious and affordable dishes. Nice to know we don't have to go all the way to Ryde for good Persian food.

Service is good and the lady there is nice and welcoming. Food wasn't what I was expecting. Just didn't have the taste. Also they only serve in disposable plates which is not what you expect from a restaurant.

We started the night with Persian (AASH) which was fantastic, unfortunately the rest of the food was very very poor in taste and quality. The chicken was dry , the Barg kebab (lamb blackstrap)was also very dry and overdone. The rice wasn’t fresh at all and seemed to be microwaved. It’s not the most expensive though, and to be honest the staff were really nice and friendly. I hope the quality improves here as this seem to be the only Persian restaurant in Sydney inner east area!

Nice owner and food is pretty different here so quite enjoyed the experience! Not many Persian restaurants around.

It's just OK, there are better Persian restaurants in Sydney however this one is very convenient in terms of location and very reasonably priced if you're not willing to go to Ryde, for example

Near the corner of Cleveland Street and Elizabeth Street is the quiet oasis Din Din Persian Kitchen. There have always been restaurants around here, a cluster, mostly Lebanese with somewhere East Asian around the corner. Pub food and it looks like an Italian wine bar has opened on the other side of the street. But this was the one that appealed to us the most, wanting dinner before seeing the show Confessions of a Mormon Boy at the Giant Dwarf theatre.

Be very aware of the bill. It does not identify the dishes you ordered, just dollar amounts.
Keep your own score because you may get ripped off. I am sure we did.
Food Average at best.

Typical Persian kebab on rice, just like I remember from Iran. The grilled beef was tough but the chicken and minced meats were tender and nicely spiced. The eggplant dip might be the star though, very interesting. Prices are good - the 3-skewer deal might feed 2 or 3 people.

Authentic Persian food, started with Chenjeh and Bar kabab, served with saffron rice and butter, very heavy and had to take rest in the doggy bag, so you can share if not hungry, or else 1 is enough, Hospitality is good, bring your own wine option is available.

average of 38 $ for 2. serves indoor only.

Loved this restaurant. I’m Iranian so I know good Persian food. Loved the zereshk polo with chicken and the olives were my favourite. The black tea was also beautiful. Very authentic.

Authentic home-cooked Persian food. They even brought us some tahdig which was one of my happiest moments of 2017. Simple decor, no fuss, all about the food. One of my fave Persian restaurants. Don't be afraid to try the stews, they make them better than most places I have been to in Sydney and far cheaper too. Rated 4.5 because the 5 is reserved for my mother and aunties.

Fairly average Iranian food at reasonable prices.

In all honesty, I’d like this place more if it looked less dingy. They need to invest more in their interior design if its to have more people (of non-Iranian decent) walking through its doors..

I would recommend dining here, but I feel this place has the potential of being much better if a little more attention was given to its decor and layout.

Great food, reasonable price and welcoming staff. I visited this restaurant in October last year when I was in Sydney. My partner and I both really enjoyed every bite of our food. The saffron ice cream is a must try dessert there. I also loved the marinated olive "Zeyton Parvardeh".

Went here a couple of weeks ago with friends. Very relaxed atmosphere, staff were super friendly and efficient! We ordered some share plates of kebabs, dips, etc. Food came out in a timely manner, portions were a good size. the only downside I would say that there is just too much rice served with each meal. We felt bad not eating it all but overall it was a very pleasant dining experience. Reasonably priced and BYO!!

I have tried their dishes several times and each time I tried different dishes and all them were fantastic.
It is located near to the central station and close to the city.
their staffs are kind and as a customer, I cant expect more than this from a good restaurant.
Highly recommended.
Don't miss their Baghalipolo.

Great quality with 100% Persian taste. If you are looking for a real Persian place Din Din would be the best choice.Staffs are really friendly and they have good customer service.I had chicken and koobideh kabab which was amazing and my friend had Baghalipolo which was perfect.I will come back again to try more dishes.

I feel like it's safe to say I'm a regular here.

My job brings me to Sydney often, and each time I spend one or two nights in a hotel, craving the juicy meat and tasty flavours of this place.

I've ordered different kebab combinations with saffron rice and each time I am impressed.

Upon my order today, I did notice a small hair in my saffron rice but in all seriousness, it's not going to deter me from this place.

If you're after a reasonably priced and highly satisfying meal, I'd highly recommend the visit.
Does My Bomb Look Big In This
If you've been following my Western Sydney adventures in suburbs like Fairfield and Merrylands, and have been drooling over Persian food but bemoaning the travel time from the city, I have some good news for you! Earlier this month I stumbled upon a very authentic Iranian restaurant in Surry Hills. Unfortunately - perhaps due to it having a name like Din Din - I had overlooked it completely because it has been sitting near the intersection of Elizabeth Street and Cleveland Street for a year now. No matter, I’ve noticed it now, perhaps due to the interior getting a fresh lick of paint. Arriving on a whim without my reviewing camera, I tucked into a Mixed Plate ($31) of skewered meats that presented three different meats. We enjoyed the super-tender saffron and lemon juice marinated chicken kebab. While the lamb back strap barg kebab is usually my Persian favourite, there’s something a bit magical about the ground beef and lamb mix squeezed onto the sword by hand in the koobideh kabab here. With rice being the main Persian staple, it’s unsurprising to see the main meals presented with golden saffron rice with beautifully separated grains. We supplemented our meats with...

Lovely food (many vegetarian options available) in a clean setting ten minutes walk from Central Station. Mains from $12 to $17. Friendly staff and take away, Uber eats options etc

We went to this place by accident and were thinking to be a bit adventurous with food. To my surprise the foods was really nice with good service. As a customer, you cant expect more than this. The shish kebab called kababas was so juicy and tender, it packs with flavour. The chicken stew with red kidney beans and parsley were nice and comforting. The saffron rice just added extra flavour to the taste. Would love to be back again.
