Lovely place, I loved their dumplings, Chinese broccoli and spring rolls. We tried pork and chives; prawn, crab and spinach; Shanghai dumplings.

I feel bad leaving this review because the staff were so lovely, but I do want to warn people not to go for dumplings here. $30 for like 8? dumplings and 2 spring rolls. We were still hungry so I ordered more and they got the order wrong. There was an option to pay an extra $5 and get some rice and a salad as well, but we’d gone for dumplings not rice and salad. The food was nice and so was the service but it did feel like a bit of a joke that for that much money I’d get what was a glorified entree. I’d come back if the price matched the portions or vice versa.

I went there for a Christmas party. Drinks are good but the food is way expensive and they don't serve you very well. Staff members need to learn how to serve food properly when they already charged a package. Can't just bring things randomly and let the guests have just one dumpling after every 5 minutes waiting. Also, they lost track of what have been served to which tables. Mine was a bit further and was mostly ignored.

Nice little place and when they can open the roof up it is quite comfortable

You know that craving you get when you're enjoying a drink at a pub with friends, and you suddenly want dumplings? Or when you're enjoying some dumplings and suddenly feel like a decent pint of ale? But it's just SOOO FAR between pub and dumpling emporium... now, your days of whining are over thanks to Bamboo and the Royal Albert! You can pass from one to the other without stepping out onto the street, and you can order dumplings while eating in the pub, or freshly poured drinks while seated in the restaurant!
Convenience aside, the dumplings are delicious and well priced with all your favourites on offer (the bbq pork buns are particularly addictive), and there are daily special on offer if you'd rather have a dish to yourself. It's tiny, and can be difficult to get a table, but you can always prop up the bar next door and sip a pint while you wait.

Right next door - literally, you can walk from one venue to the other without getting out in the street! - to the Royal Albert Hotel - the place is a heaven for dumpling lovers!
Portions are normal (5/6 dumplings) but I suggest you to go with a big party, order different plates and share so you get to taste everything!!
But, wait, there's more to it…
Their sugarcane skewers are simply to die for, especially the seafood ones.
And what about the chicken sticky rice?
Check it out, you won't be disappointed!!

I can't help but love the dumplings at this place. They have a great selection to choose from and the prices are good. The staff is friendly but sometimes difficult to flag down. Interiors are quirky and fun adding to the ambience of being in an alley restaurant somewhere in Shanghai.

For Asian cuisine there weren’t as many vegetarian options as I usually find on menus. A couple dumpling choices, spring rolls, salt and pepper tofu and Asian greens (bok choy) with oyster sauce.
The veggie dumplings were the pick of the bunch (with soft dumpling shell, some crunch on the inside and lots of flavor) and then the tofu.
