Is this the best bacon and egg roll in the Eastern Suburbs? I’m going out on a limb to say: yes. I mean, it’s a pretty perfect food already. Crispy bacon. Eggs. Breakfast. Mmmm… But I’ve often had ones that are much more basic. While still one of the cheapest items on their breakfast menu, at $8, I wasn’t expecting it to be so generous that you can’t pick it up to eat with your hands. I did order an add-on of haloumi for $4, and the slightly, rubbery texture of the haloumi, which I quite like was a surprisingly match for the slightly chewy quality of the toasted Turkish bread. I thought it was sensational.
Fernside is a bit of a general cafe but not in a bad way. It’s actually nice to have it in an age of hipster cafes with funky concepts. The service is friendly and the location makes it cosy. I had the haloumi sandwich on focaccia bread (love the old schoolness of focaccia bread). It was cooked perfectly and so delicious. I would happily return!
Nice place
Great coffee
Friendly service
Quiet and peaceful midweek
Fresh food great options
Had the eggs bene yum with brioche option
Great neighborhood hidden gem serving up good coffee in a cosy little venue on Cleveland Street. I liked the service here and the food is decent as well.
Have walked past this cafe a thousand times, been three times now and what a little gem. Their coffee is good, service friendly and attentive. The veggie breakfast was massive and yummy. Corn fritter, tomato, spinach, halloumi, baked beans, toast and eggs any style. So good!
safari in the urban jungle that is Sydney, it pours with rain. I wanted to get out of the CBD and into some. of the inner city suburbs that I know are nesting popular cafes that I am yet to discover.  After stepping knee deep into a puddle and. also getting splashed by a car in Redfern, I was glad I found the Fernside
If the The Goods on Crown is too far away. And I feel like a close to home Big Breakfast, Fernside is my place to go. The customers that come in are so diverse, one morning you will be sitting next to American tourists, the other day you’re standing next to a pensioner that just wants to read the Sydney Morning Herarld. Although diverse, you do see an awful lot of hipsters. The issue I have with most of the hipster places around Surry Hills or Redfern is the interior, most of these cafes are designed for the hip people around Surry Hills and there for you sit, not on nice comfy seats, but on a milk crate or a chair found at some second hand shop. The tables aren’t much better. It’s not that anything is dirty, it’s the style. Doesn’t make me spend an afternoon chilling at Fernside, but rather do my thing and leave. Luckily the food at Fernside is delicious, recently they changed there menu a bit and removed the hash brown from the big breakfast. This was a very good idea because the hom
Awesome big breakfast. Chef wouldn't share what's in the relish but they need to start selling jars of it!!! Well worth a visit
First time here. Spotted the Campos signage on a run. Had eggs and the BLAT. All good! Good prices too.
Big Breakfast. Choice of eggs, bread, sausages, bacon and spiced beans. Love it, they got rid of the hash brown which wasn't a bad idea. Also comes with some potatoes wedges (I got 3!)
Pancakes to dine for. Ricotta and jam pancakes are absolutely wicked. at only $9.50 and 3 stacks high, these babies are a delight! toppings are generous and the wholeweat american style cakes are light and fluffy (just as they should be). this breakfast is a winner!
service is consistent and coffee is also delish.
campos coffee is served- take my advice, order a long black with steamed skim. yummm!
Tried it for the first time for brunch. Was good, reliable fare. The menu had all the brunch regulars, without any signature twist or dish, which was fine. The decor was cosy and comfortable, service good and attentive, staff were all lovely. We would definitely return, but not for any particular feature rather a fuss free reliable meal.
This is how every local joint should be, good tasty food offerings w no fuss and great coffee. Good prices too. My fave Surry Hills joint (c'mon let's face it this isn't in Redfern really).

Hidden next to where the old Cleveland St Blockbuster use to be. This cafe is my new favourite hangout this autumn. Come in at 3pm for a coffee (campos) whilst the afternoon sun seeps through the windows and chill out on the benches with a book. Coffee is done well and hits the spot to cure 3:30itis.
Very friendly staff! Good coffee and breakie too!

Lovely little cafe staff and owners are very friendly and the coffee is great. Got a real locals hangout feel.
Great coffee, great service!. Awesome coffee! My favourite meal is the STAR. However for me, the best thing about this cafe is the service!!
Beachin. Finally I don't need to go too far to have a nice coffee in Redfern. Their coffee is just right for me and service is fab! Will be their loyal customer for sure!
It's not just about the coffee......... It's not often that I want to be friends with my barista but the guys at Fernside are the exception. I look forward to my morning coffee more than I should. Serving wonderful Campos coffee and delicable snacks, Abe and Arty ensure my day starts with a smile, good conversation and lots of laughs. With an ever increasing list of regulars my only concern is that the secret is out and now I'll have to wait my turn for my Abe and Artie fix. So go try Fernside just don't tell too many people how good it is.....
Great campos coffee. Servings were plenty and generally a nice relaxing cafe. Service was quick and efficient too.
Went there on a Saturday morning and felt like it was mostly locals frequenting this coffeeshop. I like the place because of its down to earth, unpretentious vibe. Overall, great find!
Great spot for breakfast. Fresh, friendly and high quality home made food. No frills, none needed
Greatest Tastes Banana Bread of all time. Great Coffee "Campus". Lovely owner and staff. Service is beyond friendly, Kind and warm. Always Remember my choice. 5 stars is least I would HIGHLY recommend to pay a visit and promise you will come back.
Came back after 1.5 years and it was the same greeting, service and amazing brunch.
Now you see them and now you don't. The best pancakes in Sydney town by far from the most friendly of Chef's Deon. Love you all at Fernside Coffee Shoppe. Best coffee, best food around with fantastic service and value.
Really lovely breakfast with good coffee. Cute little spot that is affordable and generously portioned. Definitely left feeling full after a hearty meal!
Excellent Campos coffee. Friendly staff, good simple menu. Did I mention the excellent excellent coffee? It is excellent.
Edit: a couple of new baristas. Still excellent coffee.
Ive been getting my coffee here for the past 3 years, Great coffee/food & friendly atmosphere. Redfern wouldn't be the same without Nick and his shop.
Small place with friendly staff and the coffee is good
